Creating Real Wealth opens with a thorough and intelligent discussion on the various aspects of wealth creation. Author Michael Kemp encourages readers to first define their perception of wealth before they set out on their journey to achieve financial security. The vague goal of "becoming wealthy" is unachievable if the more you earn the more you spend. He warns against measuring financial goals and achievements against those of the Joneses' or the stars of the screen and entertainment worlds. Instead he reviews the wisdom of those intelligent investors who have created real and lasting wealth. Kemp's reasoning is easy to follow. He believes there are only really four things the wealth-creator needs to know about money: how to earn it, save it, invest it and enjoy it. In this fascinating book you will learn: * How to set financial objectives that will lead to financial security * The importance of saving and the value of compounding returns * To take the emotion out of investing and think like an intelligent investor * A simple accumulation strategy using indirect investment tools * How to appreciate your financial circumstances and enjoy the wealth you have created.
A point of difference between this book and other finance books is that there’s a bit more finance history in this one. Why we have certain beliefs around material possessions, chasing status and other philosophies around investing.
There were a few parts that were a slog to get through, but also some good nuggets of wisdom.
A great book with powerful messages, work in a job you love, save money, invest it wisely and without emotion and live the life you want. Great intro to the share market for those who need the confidence to start purchasing shares.
EASY TO READ WITH A 'COMMON-SENSE' APPROACH. The messages Michael writes are truthful and are a wake-up call. If you're young; kudos to you, you have time. BUT if you're past 50 and are still wondering about all the financial errors you've made then think again! Creating Real Wealth, hits the nail on the head, and teaches you that 'it's ok' to walk a different line from the masses, 'it's ok' to be frugal, and 'it's ok' to be content with 'your lot,' if that's what you want. His historical anecdotes speak volumes and illustrate the downward spiralling of mankind and consumerism. This book has given me many 'ah-huh' moments and with the renewed knowledge, I now realise the power of EARN, SAVE, INVEST and ENJOY.
A really great book that's, thought provoking and almost more mindset focused on what is wealth. Rather than focusing on the nitty gritty of wealth creation. It is divided into 4 main sections, earn, save, invest and enjoy. The invest part was the driest but doable. I will definitely be keeping this book and re-reading it in the future.
Excellent! Common sense a recipe for happiness! It may not suit those who feel the need to keep up with the Jones’s but if they read this and let common sense prevail it may very well set them free, for life!
