nothing more than for them to have a chance at living.
Learning one would be stillborn didn't lessen her desire.

Editorial

Sue Dent's novel Electric Angel is a high voltage read, amped up with believable characters struggling in a unique plot. You likely won't read a novel like this one. Dent is an excellent wordsmith, her ideas original, and her work both entertaining and insightful. Definitely an up-and-coming author.

Sue Dent hails from Mississippi and is the author of Never Ceese and Forever Richard the first two installments in her Thirsting for Blood Series. Her debut novel Never Ceese appeared on the 2007 preliminary ballot for a Bram Stoker Award. Her second book in her Thirsting for Blood Series, Forever Richard, made the 2010 long-list at the British Fantasy Society.
Both Never Ceese and Forever Richard made the 2009 Pluto Award long-list with Never Ceese moving onto the top three books short-listed. Never Ceese was also Book Club Choice of the month at the American Christian Fiction Writers Association in May of 2007 when Sue was a member. Sue no longer pays to be a member due to the fact that the ACFW is a writer's group designed to help author's find homes with CBA niche market publishers. Sue is currently a member of HWA, Horror Writer's of America.
Dent’s stories continue to appeal to general market readers with surprise appeal to the denominationally discriminative (niche market CBA member publisher's serve. Ms. Dent likes to point out that though her work appeals to readers of this niche market, she does not write specifically for that market which is why you won't find her work in CBA member bookstores or rather on any shelf at any Christian Retailer or even listed on-line at member on-line bookstores such as Christianbook.com

Synopsis: Because of her cancer, Anna Chadwick wouldn't live long enough to carry her twin infants to term. Yet she wanted nothing more than for them to have a chance at living. Learning one would be stillborn didn't lessen her desire. It would take a miracle....so she prayed for one. When an electrical entity arrives to take the place of her stillborn, some would reflect that prayers aren't always answered the way we'd expect them to be.

My Thoughts: This is a very interesting book, with a very imaginative premise – a young woman, with terminal cancer, desperately prays for a miracle to save the lives of the twins she is pregnant with – and that prayer is answered. This is about the extent to which this piece of speculative fiction could be called Christian, as there are no other major mentions of Christianity or God in the book. The characters are fascinating and are developed fairly well, although this is a quick book that focuses more on the action than the characters. I read it within about 4 ½ hours, and that was with frequent stops to fuss over the cats. I think most people would enjoy this book, so definitely check it out.

I recently won this book from a contest that the author did on ms. Char Hardin's online radio show Charred Remains on Blogtalkradio http://www.blogtalkradio.com/charred_.... It was a "guess that mystery sound" contest and the sound was a sonic screwdriver from Doctor Who and I had won a copy of the book Electric Angel by Sue Dent. I waited patiently on the book and was thrilled when it came to my mailbox on April Fool's Day autographed by the author. I started reading the book and was impressed. This book is pretty good. Electric Angel is about a woman who is dying of terminal cancer named Anna who prays for her unborn children to live after finding out that she would not live to help carry them and that one is stillborn. Her prayers are miraculously answered by an entity known as the Electric Angel who helps give birth to her twin boys by replacing the one that is stillborn. After they are born, the boys are captured by men sent from the head honcho of the Anderson Electric company named Fritz. What happens next? You'll have to check it out for yourself. The book is available to buy at http://www.downwarden.com/BlackBedShe.... I enjoyed this book. Aside from the few time jumps, I liked the storyline and the characters that Sue Dent brought to life in this Dark Urban fantasy about betrayal, love, sacrifice, and bravery. She did a great job on this book. I recommend this book to all horror, fantasy, and Dark Urban fantasy fans. Definitely check this book out. You will enjoy it. Happy reading!

This was an unusual read for me. I won the book and just got around to reading it. I really liked it! It is an unlikely story, but one that is a fun story! A woman with cancer who is pregnant with two children, she is told one will be absorbed by her body or be born still born, makes a deal with an entity. She calls this entity her Electric Angel. She dies and the entity takes over her body and with the help of her husband after he understands what happened, she has the two boys. One has her electricity need to live. The husband doesn't end up raising the boys, and the story does move fast. I enjoyed this take from the boring and usual.

Here is the information from the back of the book: Because of her cancer, Anna Chadwick wouldn't live long enough to carry her twin infants to term.

4 Stars for Electric Angel by Sue Dent

I have to explain myself for giving the 4 stars instead of 5. I really loved Elecytric Angel, I just wanted MORE! I wanted to know more about the relationship between Anna and Zachary, I wanted to know more about the friendship between Reg and Zachary, I wanted to see more of how the boys were raised and the seperate lives they lived and I wanted to know more about Fritz. I just wanted more, more, more!!!!

Okay now Ill give my review on the book. Anna is dying of cancer and is pregnant with twins, she soon finds out that one of the twins are still born. So she prays to have the lives of her unborn children be saved. She ends up making a deal to save both the lives of her twins unbeknown to her husband, Zachary.

Others soon find outabout Anna's deal and want the twins and Anna for themselves. The whole situation turns into lies and betrayal and the twins being raised not only without each other but without their birth parents. However, once the twins are found and reunited again, everyone is after them once again, it is up to them to figure out what's going on and who is behind it.

Review Brought to you by OBS staff member Angie

Beware of spoilers

I’ll admit that the first 3 or 4 chapters of this book had me shaking my head, but then I really got into the story and wasn’t able to put it down until I’d finished it. My poor family is getting a little tired of fending for themselves during dinner ’cause mommy won’t stop reading!! LOL

I figured out who the ‘bad guy’ was early on, but I couldn’t wait to see how it played out and how each of the characters intertwined with the others to create this story. There were several parts that had me nearly giving myself papercuts to turn the page fast enough. The twin dynamic is so evident in the story it makes me wonder if the author has some real life experience with twins.

Essentially this is a story about family bonds: Mother/child – husband/wife – father/child – brother/brother … but there is a deeper element as well. To me, it was a story about what lengths a parent will go to to ensure the safety and well-being of their child, even if it means no longer being a part of that child’s life.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
