The Consortium is the author's debut book. It is not the only story she has written, but it is her first full-length novel to be published. She has a deep love of fiction and adores blended genres as it tends to keep things interesting. She hails from Texas and has been fortunate enough to have never run into any members of The Consortium (at least, not to her knowledge).

Genesis - the Consortium, proved to be a highly entertaining, gripping, absorbing and extremely fascinating read, being a cleverly constructed, sci/fi semi-dystopian adventure that successfully delivering on themes such as power, control, emotional, mental and physical abuse, telepathy and mind-altering intelligence.

Lots of great relatable characters embedded in a quite unique, strong storyline provided lots of action and interesting sub-plots, and which was written in such a skilful way as to keep the reader to keep wanting to read more about the evil state of affairs that were taking place in this nightmarish take on human science advancement under the secret regime operating within this new US World Order.

I wish Amelia, and her band of close friends, every success with their future adventures, and I thoroughly intend to join them on their further travels in their quest to make our world a better place to live, thrive and prosper but, most of all to actually just… survive, and be allowed to be our natural selves!

Rating: 4.4 stars.

Finally, a big thank you to the author and BookSirens for the ARC which I used to write this free, unbiased and completely voluntary review….but also with the extra help of the inserted micro-chip in the back of my neck, obviously (Lucky readers will get what I mean, ain't that right, B.A.? - Lol).

Chapman’s debut novel is an intriguing cross-genre conspiracy theory/medical thriller. The book relies on the premise that a secret society of scientists has been conducting unregulated human trials freely and without repercussions since the 1800s. Obviously there is historical precedent for unethical human trials conducted on vulnerable populations, though oddly enough Chapman doesn’t cite notable examples in her rather awkward preface. Given its location in the book, any sample a reader might get would likely be dominated by that section. I encourage you to keep reading past that background.

Once you start reading, you'll be quickly drawn into the plot, which is compelling and maintains a suitable pace for the genre. You'll also be drawn to the characters and the potential for addressing important moral and ethical issues. Unfortunately, the characters remain two dimensional and the issues of human trafficking, abuse, violence, exploitation and manipulation are never really addressed only given lip service. In fact, the gleeful enactment of horrific violence by those who had suffered from it was not even addressed as a moral issue. Then, a whole different set of plot points were introduced at the very end of the book, presumably as an attempt to prepare us for book two, but that fails to account for the numerous ways that an author can actually work out plot twists, etc. Ultimately, the biggest issues with this novel are what often occur in newly self published authors. While this author seems to have hired a copy editor, she clearly either did not hire an experienced developmental editor or ignored their suggestions. Unfortunately, what could have been a five star book is scraping by as a three star book. I really wanted to give it four stars and I really want to read book two, but I also want the author to do give this novel the treatment it deserves. She's a good writer and she has a good story but a good novel needs more than just a writer to make it publication ready.

There are definitely some enjoyable aspects to this novel. However, for me, a novel needs to be consistently good across the board in at least one area (e.g., plot development, style, character development, etc.) and this one was unable to consistently deliver on its promising beginning (background on The Consortium notwithstanding) although the plot issues were not readily apparent until over half or even three quarters of the way into the novel. If you just want a book with a quick plot and you enjoy the conspiracy/medical experimentation thriller niche and you're less interested in character development, then this will be a good novel for you.

I received a free DRC of this book from the author and BookSirens.com in exchange for an honest review.

The Consortium Genesis, by B. A. Chapman, is a compelling sci-fi novel that delves into the dark world of a secret society known as the Consortium. This group, composed of brilliant scientists and science enthusiasts, is willing to sacrifice human lives in the pursuit of scientific advancement for the supposed greater good of humanity. As human experimentation became illegal, these individuals formed a clandestine organization, abducting abandoned or lonely individuals and conditioning them into submission. The story follows Amelia, one of the Consortium’s inductees, who endures extreme experiments conducted by her Examiner. A group of law enforcement officials, including two detectives, an FBI agent, Amelia, and her keeper Spike, uncover this hidden world and begin to challenge the Consortium, aiming to liberate those trapped in its sinister system.

Chapman's writing style is both engaging and impactful. The author skillfully introduces the background stories and the abuses faced by the inductees, capturing the absolute terror experienced by the victims with striking realism. The portrayal of the sickening practices within the Consortium is so vivid and believable that it almost feels like it transcends fiction. The storyline is well-crafted, with believable characters who possess their own faults and quirks. The novel's pacing is another strength. From the tense moments of Amelia's rescue to the intricate explanations of The Consortium's operations, Chapman maintains a steady rhythm that keeps readers on edge. The scenes of interrogation and the detectives' growing realization of the horrifying truth are particularly well-crafted, blending suspense with a creeping sense of dread.

The inclusion of detailed processes, like the induction of new subjects and the creation of a controlled working class, adds layers of authenticity and horror to the story, making it not just a thriller but a deep dive into a meticulously constructed nightmare. It is important to note that the book contains graphic depictions of violence, abuse, torture, and trauma, and readers should be aware of these potential triggers.

I recommend The Consortium Genesis to those who enjoy medical sci-fi novels involving extreme human experimentation. The book lives up to its subtitle, "A Psychological Horror Thriller and Dystopian Science Fiction Novel," and offers a gripping and thought-provoking read.

My Fav Line In Book •

“She would have warned him if she could, but it probably wouldn’t have done any good anyway. It’s hard to explain how it feels to have every cell and nerve in your body on fire, electrocuted and imploding, all at the same time.”

My Review •

This book was not what I was expecting in the absolute best way possible. I read the genre and went ok…dystopian medical thriller got it. Peak my interest why don’t ya. But no…not straight forward. I was hooked from the very start. There was spice ( SO surprised ), there were twists and turns galore, there was friends to lovers, there was he falls first, there was forbidden love…like I’m sorry? My fav fantasy tropes but in a thriller? SHOOKETH.

If I could, I would immediately erase this from my brain and read it again…our minds are like a computer so all I would need to do is a hard reset…right ? ( fellow readers of this book I know you’ll get this reference )

This was beyond entertaining. Thank you to BookSirens for granting me permission to read this, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review on this book. No truth serum needed here! I am VERY happy I selected this book as an ARC 💉

The Consortium Genesis initially drew me in right away. I enjoyed the way the story jumped right in with the descriptions the Consortium’s inception. The way the “fraternity structure” of the group ruled over the levels of the people involved, from the Examiners to the Inductees. It has references to horrific historical events in a dystopian society setting that had me fully invested from the start.

Chapter 24 is where I started noticing contradictions to earlier descriptions of the Inductees. The tone of the story changed for me and there were several times it became repetitive, using the same descriptive sentence several times and for me most of the characters started to fall flat. I felt the last few chapters were rushed in finishing this story and throwing in several new characters focusing on the transition to the next book. I will read the next book in the series to see what happens. I give The Consortium Genesis 3.5 stars over all as it was a decent read. I would like to thank B.A. Chapman and Book Sirens for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Good horror and science fiction story

Received the book for free, in exchange for a voluntary, honest review.

The Consortium believes science is the answer to control the world. But to make the great discoveries, they created their own group of people to experiment on, their Inductees.

Amelia becomes the cornerstone for a cell regeneration project, but suffers greatly since the Examiner is cruel and sadistic. But, when the Examiner makes changes on his own, Amelia gains mental powers and abilities beyond imagination. With Spike at her side, Amelia wants to remove the Consortium.

This path puts them directly in the way of Jax, who wants to take over the Consortium. With Hao, Drake, and Shane working with Amelia and Spike, the battle begins.

The plot has some very dark scenes, some erotic scenes, and plenty of twists and turns, which make the book a good read. I enjoyed reading the book.

The writing felt very choppy and riding, with an overuse of certain words from the very first page. I enjoyed the potential of addressing morals and ethics, something I've recently taken a big liking to exploring different topics, points of view, and cultural acceptances. I found some scenes in the book interesting and others dragged out. The characters felt underdeveloped and, although facing some hardships, didn't feel like there was a serious approach being taken. The main issues faced in the book were given a detailed introduction, but there was no deep dive into them throughout the book to highlight their importance and stress.

The Consortium-Genesis is the first book in the Consortium trilogy. It mixes psychological horror, thriller, dystopian, and sci-fi aspects to make a gripping novel. This one is pretty lengthy for those who enjoy a longer read, but once the story grabs you it will keep you wanting to know more. This story is about a group of people using science to experiment on people, supposedly since the 1800s without public knowledge. This was an enjoyable read that left off on a cliffhanger, so I will follow to see what happens from here.

Amazing plot/storyline idea!! I love the concept, however the small romance cliche was highly unecessary. The sex scenes didn't add to the story and honestly leaving book one as a cliffhanger with so many unanswered questions >that may never be answered as the author didnt didnt foreshadow any solutions< really put me off.

This is such a brilliant read about how a young girl life is changed by the experiments that are performed on her. She is about to become a player rather than a victim when an experiment gives her powers unexpectedly. Can she save others now? Will it cost her her soul and her life? How will she get on? See how she gets on

4.5 stars. Its missing a little sparkle. I read book 1 and 2 at the same time like binge read. And this book held back compared to book 2. I know this is DARK scifi dystopian world but like…. It could turn horror quick…. And this book took me in and out of the moment where as book 2 kept me in the moment the whole time. Either way great series.
