Finally brave enough to approach her in a rain storm, the two embark on a friendship that defies most standards and sustains them through times both good and bad. Before succumbing to an illness, Rhiannon promises Ryan that if she can, she will return to give him a sign that she is still with him. "Glimmer" by Melodie Ramone is a truly touching short story about two friends, meeting at the age of 17. With the most beautiful prose Ramone describes the magic that is instant magnetism and bonding, adoration, friendship and love. It made me think of my childhood and how bonds that were formed then can be so strong and intense. The author did a spectacular job at taking me back to those days - with the perfect blend of nostalgia, sentiment and joy. The story has sad turns but it never loses its beauty and sweetness. This is heart warming as it is heart breaking and has an amazing ending. Keep the tissues near and prepare to be swept away.
GLIMMER charts the romance between a young man, Ryan, and an impish young woman, Rhiannon, which begins one day during a rain storm, their friendship withstanding the difficulties, and triumphs, of life itself.
This is a beautiful, ethereal story which, even though it is in a short form, envelops the reader in a believable, touching relationship, spiriting them to another place.

Though it was short (I wish it was a full length novel) it still was beautiful and sweet. The ending brought tears to my eyes, I loved After Forever Ends and decided to try another one of her books and wasn't disappointed. Once again she describes the beauty of the ordinary in such a way that reminds us how extraordinary ordinary really is
