Being the children of legendary R&B singer Langston Monroe has its perks... it also has its downfalls. Langston Monroe redefined the R&B genre but his children paid the price. Growing up, Malcolm, Lance and Lacey appeared to have the picture-perfect life. But their reality was nothing anyone could have ever suspected.
Now, twenty years after their father’s death, his children are still struggling with their tumultuous past and fighting to keep it from ruining their current lives and most intimate relationships.
Malcolm Monroe, his own worst enemy, is a filmmaker whose struggling career threatens his marriage.
Lance Monroe, the highly successful ex-NFL player turned commentator can't seem to get his life together, standing accused of countless charges from a night gone wrong, he struggles to put his self-made demons behind him.
Lacey Monroe, the R&B diva and wild-child who desperately seeks the stability and love she never got as a child, clings to a man she hopes will save her from a secret revealed.
Together, these three siblings fight to break free of their father's painful legacy, years of hurt and deceit, and forge their own path once and for all.
Can you say drama? Malcolm, Lance and Lacey are children of legendary singer/songwriter Langston Monroe and Eleanore Monroe. Their childhood was dysfunctional at best and even though throughout the book, hints were made towards the father, it is not fully revealed.
Malcolm is married to Alex and is a completely despicable man, serial cheater and aspiring director. Lance and his estranged wife Sylvia, who is pregnant. Lance deals with his issues by drinking. Lacey, R& B singer is engaged to be married to Randolph, a pastor, but is in the closet about her sexuality.
All these situations keeps you on the edge of your seat and make your head spin. There isn't a dull moment with this bunch of lovely, dysfunctional family. I am on to Book 2 and hope the other books in the series won't be far behind. A great read.
Wow! Although well-written, the content of this story is disturbing on so many levels! I don't care what a deceitful, dishonest, and sleazy man, R&B singer, Langston Monroe was, his three children had the option of living honorable lives. Yet they all chose to live loose and irresponsible ones. After vowing they didn't want to imitate their father's selfish lifestyle, Malcolm, Lance and Lacey all ended up hurting the people they loved exactly the way their father did. But what really puzzles me is why a beautiful and intelligent woman like Alex would continue to forgive Malcolm every time he lied to and cheated on her. That only encourages his disgusting and devious behavior! Plus the woman had tangible proof! 1-800-LAWYER anyone???
Malcolm, Lance and Lacey appeared to have the picture-perfect aft their legionary father dies. Oh my gosh their lives has so much drama. I love it. Langston Monroe redefined the R&B genre but his children paid the price.
Malcolm has got to be the worst of the bunch. I read his story and still don't like him. How could a man that devious with such a loving wife.
The words sucked you into the narrative so profoundly that you believed you were actually there with them. It definitely an emotional roller coaster ride with its unexpected twists and turns; it made you laugh, it made you angry, it made you sad. I can't wait to start the next book. I'm a fan!!!
this was my first time Reading from this AUTHOR wow OMG. PAGE TURNER this held my attention from page 1 love character in the book. can't wait read part I am a fan now!!!!!!!
Yes!!! This was my first book from this author and boy was it a great read. Drama drama and more drama! A famous family full of lies, deception, and deep embedded secrets. Just my type of book! Can't wait until I read part 2!!
Really nicely paced novel. Alex had the absolutely worst 40th birthday party. Everything happened that should not have. Lance and Malcolm mimick their dad in more ways than they realize even though they despise him. Book 2 should be interesting
Lots of drama from the Monroe family. Three siblings living with their families past. Love this book can't wait for what awaits the family in book two.
This book had my attention but it was DRAMA! In one night, at a birthday party, drama from each couple was revealed. A bit far fetched but an interesting read. I'll give the other books a try.
I think this was a very well written book with enough drama and intrigue to keep the reader engaged to the end. I hate that the book was a cliffhanger. I will be happy when this trend ends.
this was my first book by this author abd I thoroughly enjoyed it. there where twists and drama from beginning to end. this family was unlike any family I know with all the demons they had holding them back from happiness.
