Grinding is a must read. I absolutely loved this story.

Inez has been part of the Portland Icehawks' family since the start of the franchise, but now that she's got the assistant general manager position she needs to prove her worth to gain the trust and the respect of the environment. So when her first call is a grinder like Camden Hale, everyone think she bit off more than she could chew. Will she be right in the end? Or will she be forced to resign?

I loved Inez and Camden right away, they give all themslves to their work and fight for what they want, even if they know in hockey not always it depends on them, on their skills or their personal accomplishments.
I admired their attempt to resist the temptation of being together, they are stronger than me. They have so much to prove and too much to risk, but their connection, chemestry and understanding of each other is something so unique they can't ignore it, because working is not everything in life.

A round of applause for Jami Davenport who crafted a smooth, captivating novel, with a couple so attractive that made me finish it in a matter of hours.

This is the 6th book in this phenomenal series and this is Camden and Inez’s story.
Camden is a grinder who works hard on and off the team and a waiver has him getting picked up by the Portland Icehawks. Inez has just been promoted to assistant GM, and she works hard to prove herself as the only female in a male dominated world. There is an instant connection between these two.
This is a well written easy to read story which has family, friendships, emotions, action, intrigue, secrets, engaging and realistic characters, humor, witty banter, romance, palpable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, spicy, and unpredictable addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This is Camden and Inez’s story and was well written and entertaining.

Recently added to the Portland Icehawks, things are about to become interesting as the chemistry between Camden and assistant general manager Inez ignites.

When Inez is advised to let Camden go she digs in, determined to fight for him to stay. The only problem is no one else believes in Camden, including Camden.

Grinding was an emotional, well written, story that drew me in. Can Inez convince everyone to take a chance on Camden? One click and find out.

I love rooting for the underdog and I loved Inez and Camden’s story. “Grinding” is a heartfelt, romantic and sweet hockey romance that was a great addition to the series.

Camden is the grinder in the hockey world meaning he works hard on and off the ice. But that also means he can be expendable to teams and now he’s been traded midseason to the Icehawks. Inez has worked for the Icehawks and has been promoted to assistant general manager of the team which is unheard of in a man’s sport. She’s out to prove herself and that includes Camden being her first trade she facilitates. And from the first time they meet, they have a connection but both are off limits because of their jobs. But throughout the season, they find themselves hanging out and they can’t seem to stay away from each other.

I love an underdog story and both Camden and Inez are in both of their positions. Camden has worked his whole life to be in the NHL but hasn’t found his groove with a team. He’s a great teammate and finds himself happy and thriving in Portland. Inez is close with the owners and I loved how she was promoted on her potential to be a great assistant manager for the team. She’s meant to do great things and I loved how she went all in with her new job. The chemistry between them is instant and grew stronger as the story went on. Both were mindful of their jobs and what that could mean for each other. They truly watched out for each other because they knew how important each of their own successes were. I loved the flirty moments they had with each other. Their ending was sweet and perfect for them so they could both succeed in the hockey world. I cannot wait for Aria and Drakos’ story, it’s going to be full of passion.

Will the Icehawks find out who is leaking their secrets? Will Inez or Camden give up their career, so the other can have theirs? I loved Grinding by Jami Davenport. Inez and Camden are a great couple with scorching hot chemistry that sparked into an inferno from their first meeting. I loved the other characters from previous Portland Icehawks books interacting with Inez and Camden. I would highly recommend getting Grinding and the other books in the Portland Icehawks series by Jami Davenport. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Camden Hale is 28 and a professional hockey player. He's a grinder, working hard on and off the ice. He's moved around the league a bunch and once again is put on waivers and is picked up by the Portland Icehawks.

Inez Lewis has been part of the Barlowe family for years as her bestie is one and they took her in when things weren't so great with her family. She has worked for Mr. B almost 8 years and gets called into his office thinking she is going to get the finance job she applied for but instead he promotes her to the assistant general manager of the team, she's shocked.
So getting down to business they need some players and she pitches Camden Hale along with some others and he becomes the first trade that she does.

Of course the chemistry between the two of them is undeniable but it's in their contact that they can't cross that line. She believes in him even though others don't including him, so she fights for him to stay.
But sneaking around isn't the only problem they are facing, someone is passing info to the news. Will they get caught?

This story quickly grabbed my attention and emotions.

Each of them have something to prove and their immediate attraction to each other is a dangerous and forbidden. I enjoyed watching these two try to resist the attraction and the build up to them getting involved kept the story interesting. Aunt Matilda’s encouragement was sweet emotionally poignant when she talked about her lost love, Henry, and hilarious as a part owner of the team encouraging the forbidden.

Definitely an entertaining and enjoyable read for two characters who didn’t jump off the page (blurb) with a heightened sense of excitement. However, this book is definitely exciting, and is great storytelling with a situation that made me feel so many emotions.

This book also sets up the tension for the next book in the series - Aria and Drako, two characters that seem more likely to strangle each other than fall in love.

I loved that Inez was a direct person who had fabulous organization skills and always went the extra mile to do a good job. But I also felt sorry for her as her job with the Portland Ice Hawks was her whole life. I can’t imagine the shock she felt when she was promoted to assistant GM with little experience. I loved the special relationship she had with the owner and his family and who all knew her worth. It was a struggle for her since she was a female in male dominated world. Inez was the person who determined that Camden would be a good choice for a player on the team. It was crazy the attraction the two had for each other, especially since neither one was looking for a relationship. The knew they couldn’t be together as it would be against team rules, but some times love doesn’t make sense. There was some sneaking around going on, a news reporter out for the team, and a bunch of great hockey players. I strongly encourage you to read the book.

This has been a great read! With two lovely main characters and wider cast, we meet Inez, newly promoted to a new, highly responsible position with her beloved Portland Icehawks, and Camden, a sweet man whose role in different hockey teams is as a dispensible player, whose skills and talents have not been fostered and developed. He does not have confidence in his ability to get a permanent place on a top-tier team. Then, he is handed the chance, courtesy of Inez's choice of him to join the team when substitutes are needed for missing players.
The connection they feel is a forbidden factor, and Inez already has enough to do to convince doubters that she is right for her post.
It is a lovely read with a great twist of roles in terms of position and confidence. I loved them both and became instantly engaged in the story. There is fun, wit, great characters, and a good, strong storyline. Great stuff! 💖💖💖💖💖

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.

I read this book in one sitting and I loved every second of it. The chemistry and passion between Camden and Inez was sizzling and instantaneous. They were made for each other. I loved how she believed in him, when everyone including himself, didn’t.

Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a workplace, fresh start, hockey romance then you’re going to love it.

I loved Camden and Inez’s story! Camden is used to being passed over in his career. Inez just got promoted to assistant GM of the Portland Icehawks. Her first act is to pick up Camden as their new player. They didn’t expect to fall for each other. That’s a big no no. Watching them maneuver.their way through it was very entertaining! When their relationship comes to light, how will they handle it? Grinding is an amazing addition to the Portland Icehawks series! I’m excited for Drakos and Aria’s stony! The next book in the series! It’s going to be so good!

Hockey player/assistant GM, instant connection, job vs relationship, and hot hot spice.

This is not the first book in the series, but it can be read as a complete stand-alone. However I think you will get more out of it if you have read the other books as you have met some of the characters before. But don’t let that deter you. This can be a stand-alone. But it will make you want to read all the other books!

Camden Hale is a 28 year old NHL player who has bounced from team to team trying to find the right fit. He isn’t a star, he one of those players who is on the 3rd or 4th line working hard and scoring once in awhile. The player that you need to make a difference on the ice and also in the locker room, helping out the rookies. When he finds out he has been picked up while on waivers by the Portland Icehawks he realizes this could be his big break. What he wasn’t expecting though was to have an instant connection with the person who pushed to have him on the team, the new Assistant General Manager Inez Lewis.

After working for Mr. B for 8 years, Inez Lewis believes she has proven multiple times that she got the jobs on merit & hard work, not because she is best friends with Mr. B’s granddaughter. She is excited when she is called into his office believing that the Icehawks finance job is now hers. When he told her that she was now the Assistant General Manager, Inez almost died. She had never imagined she would be put into that position, ever, but she knows she will have to prove herself once more. She is okay with that, especially since her first suggestion to pick up Camden Hale from the waivers is seeming to be proving itself as a good one. The only problem is that he is not just doing well on the ice and the locker room with other players, Camden is working his way into her heart. Which is against every rule the team has, but there is no denying the connection between the two of them. The only will the person that is sneaking team information to a local reporter catch them in the act before they have figured out a way to make this all work.

This is the 6th book in the Portland Icehawks series and it is action right from the start. Love the fact that this series continues to show women from all backgrounds coming together and kicking some regulations & rules out the door. Women have always been involved in sports but not always in the areas they deserve to be. This book shows that both on and off the ice/field women are finally being given the chance to show they are the best people for the job. Can’t wait to see where this is all going to go next.

Grinding is the sixth book in the Portland Icehawks series and it was an entertaining addition to the series.

Camden has always been a hard worker and has been labeled as a "grinder", but because of that, there are times he's been overlooked more than included. He ends up with the Icehawks in the middle of the season and he's got to get his feet underneath him.

Inez has been working for the Icehawks and is promoted to assistant general manager. She wants to prove that she is worthy given there are very few women in the same position and one of the first things she does is execute the trade for Camden.

There is a connection between Camden and Inez almost instantly, but given their jobs, they know they are off limits to one another. As they spend more time together, the pull becomes stronger and stronger. Will they be able to find a way to be together or will their jobs keep them apart?

I enjoyed this story of the underdog. Camden has not found a lot of people that believe in him, including himself, so having Inez in his corner is both new for him and great to see as the reader. It was a well written story and one that I found entertaining.

You need to read Grinding!

Inez Lewis never thought her meeting with her boss to be a promotion to assistant general manager for the Portland Icehawks because there isn’t many women in management for professional hockey. One of her first actions was to claim Camden Hale off of waivers against her boss’s plans. But Inez never expected to make a personal connection with Camden especially when the general manger wanted to release him from the team.

Camden Hale knows he is a grinder and always on the edge of being put on waivers but being picked up by the Portland Icehawks might change his future if he can prove his worth to the team but falling in love with Inez might change both their futures.

The author turned around the usual hockey romance and turned it on its head with a female assistant general manager and a hockey player that has a little bit of mystery and twist on the end!

Grinding, book seven in the Portland Icehawks series is an enjoyable hockey romance story between two characters that were easy to fall for.
Camden is new to the team as he is picked up on waivers. He is a steady, hardworking hockey player but not superstar material and because of that he has been moved from team to team. He seems to have finally found his love of the sport again with the Icehawks organization but it is the new assistant GM that has made his time with the team even better.
Inez is newly promoted assistant GM of the Icehawks and she has a lot to prove being a woman in a man’s world and she is doing a great job even though some were skeptical. The conflict that may jeopardize her job is the feelings she has for the team’s newest acquisition, Camden. These two have serious chemistry but have to keep everything a secret and the stress of their secret getting out and ruining their careers comes to a head. How they handle it and what happens next is a perfect ending to their story. Read and enjoy!

Inez works for the Portland Icehawks and gets promoted to Assistant General Manager much to the General Manager's dismay. She's working hard to prove herself and learn what the job entails. One of her first acquisition is for Camden Hale. He's a grinder. Someone who puts in the work but isn't a superstar and unfortunately can be seen as almost expendable.
Cam is trying his best to prove himself. He's moved around a lot in the league and is getting up there in age according to hockey standards. He's not sure how much longer he'll be wanted in this league. As soon as Cam meets Inez, sparks are flying. They're trying not to act on it but it's getting harder and harder.
In the meantime, there's a reported getting information about the team that's hurting the rapport in the locker room and stressing some of them out. Will they ever find out who the leak is? Will the Icehawks make it to the playoffs? Will Inez and Cam get a chance at love or will they put their jobs first? This was a great read! I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Endearing characters and explosive chemistry! I'm a big fan of Davenport's hockey teams and this one is really fun to get into the heart of because it's an expansion team and the guys are coming into the mix of things with hurt feelings and regret on their mind as they are handed over from their previous home with lots to prove. In the beginning it was touted as a series with a mix of romantic suspense as well, but that aspect has never been successfully fleshed out to really make it a plus of the series. This book for instance had a huge opportunity of a missing brother that could have been acted on and investigated, but fell disappointingly flat. I liked Camden and Inez, but wanted more development ... especially once the sneaking around was over. The characters were both easy to like and their support system of friends/family were beneficial to the set up. I'm looking forward to more to come in the series.

Inez is a woman in the male dominated NHL and as such has to work twice as hard to prove she is worthy of her place. One of her first assignments is to sign a player of the waiver list, and so she choses Camden Hale. Camden is a grinder, a journeyman in the NHL and fairly expendable. He's a hard worker, but not an outstanding player. The first time Inez and Camden meet, sparks fly, and both know that this chemistry between them is different. But this can't be. It could ruin both of their careers if anyone finds out, and she more than any man has to prove she can succeed in this world. Can they resist the temptation of each other?

This is a great story of love, friendship, loyalty and family. The writing is fluid, easily keeping you turning the pages until the very end. The character development is on point and the secondary characters from previous books, adds depth (you don't have to have read the other books to enjoy this one!). Thoroughly recommend!

Camden is a grinder that is being let go from another team as he is disposable. Inez who has just been given the Assistant GM position says the team needs Camden for the style of play they have. Camden is getting up there in hockey years and knows that he doesn't have much longer in the league.

Both Camden and Inez really don't have any type of family life and as the season rolls on they kind of gravitate toward each other. Their chemistry is off the charts and they genuinely like each other as well. Their romance is forbidden because of their roles. Camden finds his love and fun of the game again with this new team. They each had so much to lose if they got into a relationship with each other and then if their relationship got out.

They each go to bat for the other when it comes down to the revelation of their relationship. It really does work out in the end for both of them to have jobs in the world that they love! I can't wait for the next book in this series!

I love a good underdog story and this is definitely that. Camden is known as the grinder due to his hard work and ability to help the younger players on the team. He is lacking in self esteem, so when he finds out that he is picked up from waivers and that Inez, the new assistant gm pushed for it, he feels the need to impress. Inez was floored when she was given her job and sets out to prove that she deserves it. Her first trade is just what she needed to prove herself. The only problem is the man himself.

The more time they spend together, the more their connection grows. They know it breaks every rule there is, but they can’t stop either. Whether they can find a way to stay together or they are forced to keep their distance remains to be seen. This is a quick, fun read. If you enjoy an underdog story, this is for you. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

Camden has been traded most of his hockey career, landing with the Icehawks in Portland is just another team, until it isn't. He has finally found his place & hockey is fun again. Until he meets Inez, the newly promoted Asst GM & the person who brought him to the team. Sparks fly immediately between the two, even though a relationship would be strictly prohibited. Inez is a woman in a position usually held by a man & most likely one that played hockey in the past. She has a lot to prove & an attraction to one of the players isn't a good idea. I really enjoyed watching this couple try so hard to avoid each other, the fire was really between them. This story had a great amount of spice, but wasn't;t overtly so. I have loved watching the players on this team fall in love, check it out today! Enjoy!

Camden has been called up to the Portland Ice when they are about to start their playoff challenge. He is the grinder in the hockey world meaning he works hard on and off the ice but he has always been passed from team to team for that very reason.
Inez has just been promoted to assistant GM and is desperate to prove her worth. Having pushed to get Camden on the team the last thing she needs is to fall for him but we can’t always control what our heart wants.
The connection they share is intense, the chemistry is sizzling but they need to keep their feelings secret at least until the end of the season…..
So what happens when secrets are revealed.
Grinding is an emotional, entertaining read with wonderful characters. I loved this book especially watching Camden come into his own and finally finding a place in the hockey world.

The Portland Icehawks return in book 6. Camden gets traded to the team mid-season to help get a playoff run. He is a grinder- an unselfish hard worker for the team but not a star. Inez has just been promoted to Assistant GM with the warning to not get involved with players since she is making decisions about their future with the team. They didn’t plan their attraction and did everything to ignore it. I really liked both their characters so I was also shouting at them to not get involved but true love overcomes all. Their chemistry is off the charts. This was an enjoyable read and a look back at other Icehawk couples. Recommended especially if you have read the series. Ms. Davenport writes a great hockey romance!

I love the Icehawks family that Jami has put together and Camden Hale certainly fits in perfectly. The grinders who work hard and do their job are always my favorite. I’m always rooting for them and Camden is no different. Inez has always been everyone’s go to on the Icehawks. Her promotion in the organization was a shock to everyone involved and to me. I never realized her hockey knowledge above her job and love the female movement in this book.

Grinding is an easy read. I figured out the mystery fairly early, but the biggest mysteries are probably waiting to be answered in the next book. I’m super anxious waiting for book #7.

I love reading Jami Davenport’s books. This is well written emotional heartfelt book. Camden has been put on waivers and his confidence is at an all time low. He is coming to the end of his career and works hard. Inez has been promoted to assistant GM surprisingly by Mr. B and her first transaction is to pick Camden off waivers because she sees potential in him for the Icehawks. When they meet they both have an attraction to one another but know this is forbidden to act upon it. What I loved in this story was when they finally come together in secret they each know that they love each one another. This is well worth the read.

Camden Hale & Inez Lewis are two people who always felt like the underdog when it comes to their careers but when Inez is given the opportunity of a lifetime she steps up and brings Camden to the IceHawks to prove not only to herself but to everyone else that Camden will prove that he belongs.
The chemistry between Cam & Inez is off the charts but they try to keep things professional but the heart wants what the heart wants. Watching them navigate through it all makes it worth the HEA that they find in the end.
