Ontzettend leuk om meer te leren en/of weer even herinnerd te worden aan alles waar het feminisme voor staat door het lezen van een kleurrijke, grappige en taboeloze Graphic Novel.
Over empowerment, seksisme, gender, relaties, lichaam, seksualiteit, onderwijs, ecofeminisme en vooral gelijkheid en nog zo veel meer.

Magnifique bd qui fait un bon tour d'horizon du féminisme. Très bien documenté. La bibliographie m'a permise de découvrir des auteurices que je connaissais moins. Bel ouvrage pour les ados et pour les personnes moins familières avec le sujet. À lire.

This graphic novel is really good, and it feels like those types of books that should be available in every library, especially school libraries, this actually ended up deeper into the topics than I expected, it was more than introductory... but it also does the excellent thing that is share with the reader a bunch of sources and more things to read/watch/listen in each topic!!!
Also will say, great kudos to the Portuguese translator, because with parts dealing with law or numbers, the translator always added notes to the current situation/landscape in Portugal, and that's something I really appreciate in non-fiction like this!!!
The book overall is really good, but I think the stronger sections was the part about the different expectations for women and men when it comes to "house-work" (from chores, to maintaining a house, to taking care of the kids), and the exploration of the mental toll that takes, that so many people still don't understand, and the weaponization of men not knowing how to do things, and then also talking about parenthood, and giving more time for fathers to be more involved.
I also really appreciate how this book is doing its best to be inclusive, to speak outside of the gender binary, acknowledging the experiences of marginalized communities, and that's so important, but I do feel the chapter about "non-binary" had some ideas that needed another perspective... there's a bit of a mix when talking about gender and sexuality, not making the separation clear, and then some definitions of terms there (including terms I personally identify with) weren't the clearest...
This all said, again, this is an excellent book!!! It's divided in sections and chapters that really highlight the importance of feminism today, and I repeat this a book that needs to be made available for everyone especially for kids - this needs to be put in middle grade schools!!!

April 27, 2025Geef geen sterren, omdat ik niet tot de doelgroep van dit boek bleek te behoren. Ben letterlijk niets nieuws, verbazingwekkends, ergerniswekkends of opmerkelijks tegengekomen. Dat is misschien niet zo raar voor een 65-jarige vrouw die zich al jaaaaaren niet stoort aan of gedraagt naar wat er door anderen van 'een vrouw' verwacht wordt qua gedrag en uiterlijk.

Super belle bande-dessinée qui a l'audace de faire un très beau tour d'horizons d'un nombre assez incroyable de sujets féministes actuels. Le tout est faite avec humour et positivisme. Très ludique, coloré et aucunement culpabilisant. Si les sujets sont plutôt effleurés, le style compense et ce livre propose beaucoup de références pour approfondir toutes les réflexions abordées.

Ach Leutis... ich bin so zwiegespalten... An sich fand ich viele Teile des Buches wirklich, wirklich gut, auch wenn mir das meiste bereits bekannt war. Die Illustrationen waren toll und ich musste teilweise wirklich lachen. Ich habe dennoch Neues erfahren und würde es an sich sehr als Einsteigerbuch empfehlen... wäre da nicht dieser Satz im Vorwort gewesen, der trans* (das ist übrigens wie cis ein Adjektiv, lieber @carlsen_comics Verlag und wird nicht mit Bindestrich verwendet) Menschen teilweise exkludiert hat. Genauso werden trans* Menschen nicht „als Frau/Mann
geboren". Schwierige Formulierungen für so ein sensibles Thema...
Nun weiß ich nicht, ob dieser bereits von der Autorin ider vielleicht erst durch die Übersetzung gekommen ist. Man hat während des Lesens gemerkt, dass die Autorin auf jeden Fall inklusive sein wollte (sie hat es also nicht zwingend mit böser Absicht so geschrieben. Dennoch war es noch sehr aus der binären Sichtweise geschrieben und trans* und nicht-binäre Personen wurden eher extra behandelt. Sehr schade bei so einem wichtigen Thema.

Confesso que revirei os olhos nalgumas partes do livro, especialmente no que diz respeito às questões da linguagem inclusiva (lamento, não consigo alinhar nessa luta) e até do ecofeminismo (que talvez não tenha compreendido como deve ser)...
No entanto, há outros pontos interessantes e válidos que são abordados ao longo do livro. Os desengos também são agradáveis na sua simplicidade (apesar da excessiva profusão de cores garridas)

Apesar de ser um pouco simplista, não deixa de ser uma boa primeira abordagem às questões do feminismo e das preocupações que estão na ordem do dia ainda hoje, (cerca de) 25 anos passados desde o início do século XXI. É urgente pensar sobre os assuntos que aqui são abordados para a evolução das mentalidades! (Que utopia, mas enfim... acreditemos que sim, que as mentalidades terão tendência a evoluir para formas mais inclusivas).
No entanto, há outros pontos interessantes e válidos que são abordados ao longo do livro. Os desengos também são agradáveis na sua simplicidade (apesar da excessiva profusão de cores garridas)

June 23, 2025Dit boek is echt de basis van de basis. Het is echt instapniveau (zoals ik ergens in een review las). Ik leerde niet echt iets bij. Misschien goed voor zij die echt op nul (of in de min) beginnen, in dat geval is het duidelijk uitgelegd met leuke afbeeldingen.

Gutes Buch, aber inhaltlich nicht Neues. Mir haben vor allem die Illustrationen gefallen. Könnte stellenweise noch inklusiver sein und hätte mir teilweise bei den Themen noch mehr Tiefgang gewünscht.

Livre super intéressant qui parle de tous les sujets sur le féminisme, la vie de couple, la sexualité, les orientations sexuelle sans aucun tabous. Hyper instructif. Les illustrations sont magnifiques et très coloré.

J’ai beaucoup aimé ce livre et je le recommande à tous les hommes qui aimeraient mieux comprendre les défis que doivent relever les femmes. Tous les sujets sont très bien traités et avec la bonne dose d’humour! Il y a également beaucoup de ressources additionnelles mentionnées dans le livre qui permettent d’aller approfondir certains sujets

Auf diese Graphic Novel wurde ich durch einen Artikel aufmerksam und glücklicherweise hatte unsere Bibliothek die deutsche Übersetzung an Lager. Natürlich habe ich sie sofort mit nach Hause genommen und dann auch kaum noch aus der Hand gelegt.
Das Buch widmet sich unterschiedlichen Themen, die alle etwas mit Feminismus zu tun haben. Dabei ist die Autorin sehr inklusiv, in den Texten und den Illustrationen. Wir lernen das Patriarchat aus den unterschiedlichsten Sichtweisen kennen und erfahren, dass es sich in den kleinsten Dingen zeigt, die wir oft als normal betrachten. Aber auch Hashtags wie HeForShe werden nicht aussen vor gelassen.
Meyer ist sehr engagiert, laut und bunt. Wir merken, dass ihr diese Themen alle sehr wichtig sind, dass sie ihre Botschaft nach aussen tragen möchte. Und diese Begeisterung steckt an. Das ganze Buch strahlt vor Energie. Es ist viel Wut dabei, aber ohne polemisch zu werden.
Die Quellenangaben befinden sich jeweils direkt auf der Seite, sodass langwieriges Blättern wegfällt. Durch die Lektüre bin ich auf diverse neue Insta-Accounts, Filme, Bücher etc. aufmerksam geworden, die alle einen Blick wert sind.

Gostei muito do livro e acho que é uma ferramenta excelente para algumas audiências. Por exemplo, jovens ou pessoas com dificuldade em ler livros mais densos. Acho que para estes públicos é mesmo a abordagem perfeita!
Claro que, se a pessoa já leu abordagens mais aprofundadas sobre feminismo o vai achar relativamente superficial, mas acho que esse é mesmo o objetivo do livro. Ser fácil de ler!
Em minha opinião, só deixaria duas críticas. Primeiro, a tradução podia adaptar melhor alguns exemplos dados de mulheres admiráveis ou de linguagem inclusiva à língua e contexto para o qual foi traduzido (está sempre pensado para França). E, em segundo lugar, há algumas incongruências, ou explicações pior conseguidas, na distinção entre orientação sexual, identidade e expressão de género.
Ainda assim, aconselho fortemente como uma abordagem introdutória!

Wow, wat een graphic novel. 245 pagina’s tjokvol informatie én tegelijk heel leuke en grappige illustraties. Een supertof boek dus. Ferme aanrader.
Meyer heeft het klaargespeeld om een onderwerp dat soms zwaar kan lijken heel fris, vrolijk én boeiend tegelijk in woord en beeld vast te leggen.
Geen enkel onderwerp wordt vergeten: seksisme, penisnijd, consent, lichaamshaar, maagdelijkheid, de babyboete, empowerment, ecofeminisme,… Je kan het zo breed niet bedenken of het komt aan bod.
Deze graphic novel mag in geen enkele klas ontbreken; hier valt zo veel uit te leren. Door jong én oud. Doordat de gigantische hoeveelheid informatie zo leuk wordt gebracht heb je nooit het gevoel dat je aan het ‘leren’ bent, terwijl dat ondertussen wel het geval is. Geweldig hé!
Ik ben giga fan, nu jij nog!

Livre très utile pour les personnes qui ne sont pas au fait des diverses composantes du féminisme. Le potentiel didactique de cet ouvrage est très bon ! On voit que des efforts ont été effectués afin d'inclure des personnes dont la réalité diffère de la personne qui a écrit ce livre. Ceci dit, des consultations auraient potentiellement été judicieuses, notamment sur la question d'identité de genre et d'orientation sexuelle (notamment à l'égard des personnes aromatiques). Considérant qu'il s'agit d'un ouvrage d'introduction, il est compréhensible que certains raccourcis aient été pris.
Somme toute, il s'agit d'un bel ouvrage!

3.5. als je in een feministische boekenwinkel bent, moet je een boek over het feminisme kopen dus kocht ik dit boek in het voorjaar in Utrecht. De illustraties en het feit dat dit een gesigneerde versie is trokken mij aan. Ik wist dat ik veel uit het boek al zou kennen en dit klopt, het is echt een basiscursus feminisme met heel af en toe iets nieuws. Goed om cadeau te geven aan iemand die meer moet leren en de presentatie van informatie is echt top! Ik miste wel meer hoofdstukken over niet-westerse feminisme en meer informatie over niet-witte en disabled feminisme. Hier hadden best nog wat hoofdstukken over kunnen gaan. Het einde was erg abrupt.

Clever,Wichtig und Unterhaltsam
Feminists in Progress spricht über viele wichtige Themen und stellt diese in einer sehr verständlichen und unterhaltsamen und infomierenden Art und Weise in Form von Comic Zeichungen da.Ein solches Buch würde ich mir in allen Schulen und Jugendeinrichtungen wünschen, jede Person sollte sich mit diesen Themen beschäftigen, den Feminismus geht uns alle etwas an !!!

Un bon recueil rempli de bonnes informations, mais un peu trop moralisateur à mon goût.
En fait, je n'ai pas appris grand-chose en le lisant parce que je suis déjà pas mal sensibilisée à la cause féministe, et quelqu'un qui aurait besoin d'un peu plus d'éducation à ce sujet n'aura pas tendance à prendre un livre avec un tel titre! Donc ça tombe drôlement entre les deux clientèles à mes yeux.

I highly enjoyed reading this book! The illustrations are awesome, I loved them so much! The examples follow everyday life experiences and are easy to understand, yet at the same time don't lack depth or sincereness. It's easy to pick up and tempting to read in one sitting (as I did). I highly enjoyed it and can recommend it to *anyone*.

Aborde de nombreux sujets tels que la charge mentale, l’écoféminisme, la parentalité…
Je recommande (mais on n’apprend pas grand chose si on est déjà bien informées sur ces sujets…).

The art style and drawings are very nice. Other then that I already knew a lot of stuff that was explained in this book so maybe this is more of a book for people who are just now beginning to inform themselves about feminism. Only thing i learned is the term ‘ecofeminism’ which is something i will now say I am hehe

Richtig, richtig gut! War humorvoll und hat gut die Problematik des Sexismusses in unserer Gesellschaft dargestellt. Ich fand auch gut, dass es gaaaanz viel content Empfehlungen zu dem Thema Feminismus gab, Videos, Podcasts, Bücher, Comics, Zeitschriften usw.
