Until Then: A Sweet Romance

Rate this book
Noah Hayden, star of the hottest TV show, is convinced it's impossible to know who's dating him for him and who’s out for clout.

Until he collides with a beautiful stranger named Hayley and what began as a battle over the last coffee shop scone turns into the perfect day and perfect night together. Just as Noah thinks he might've found the elusive "one", Hayley ghosts him without an explanation.

Months later, their paths cross again at a mutual friend's Hollywood wedding. Noah plans to avoid Hayley, until her cheating ex corners her and before he can think twice, Noah has her in his arms, blurting out they've been ridiculously in love for months.

After a rogue paparazzi catches a photo, Noah and Hayley decide to fall into the ruse temporarily. Of course it will be mutually beneficial--he escapes the gold-diggers and she earns new limelight on her financially struggling therapeutic horse ranch.

But when their fake relationship brings up unspoken feelings and unearths new truths of the future, Noah has no idea if he's going to lose her again, or if his impulsive plan will lead to something so much more.

Until Then is book one in the interconnected world of For Love and Rock and The Vegas Kings. Perfect for readers looking for swoony, passionate closed-door romance, banter filled pages, and a sizzling HEA guaranteed.

I live in Utah with my husband, our four kids, our dog who thinks she is human, and a rather suspicious cat. A fantasy anthology which included my work in 2018 hit the USA Today Bestseller's list. I have written several fantasy and romance novels and adore both genres!

You'll most likely find me when I'm not writing trying to keep up with the kids, daydreaming, spending time in the mountains, and drinking too much caffeine.

This was a sweet easy quick read. I really loved the whole mental health angle. Its a very difficult topic and very personal but i feel it was well written. I also enjoyed it was not your typical third act break up, no cliche here. The reason i couldnt rate it higher was because i felt like it just didnt go into enough depth showing their love grow. I would like to have seen more dates between them and time getting to know each other on that deeper level. The whole fake dating didnt really exist, only for a few pages so it was barely worth it, and i just didnt feel any draw or angst between the two main characters. Still, was cute.

Until Then by @authorecchilds has my heart completely on lockdown at this very moment. Before I get into the story, I have to express my sincere happiness with the subject of equestrian therapy in this read. My daughter suffers from anxiety, and she started equestrian therapy over the summer. The program has been amazing in helping her grow stronger and more confident. The bonds the horses form with each child is beautiful to witness. Hayley is so very real to me because I’ve witnessed first hand the true gift of these caretakers. Ok… back to the story……. Three words… Banter… Passion… Trust. Hayley and Noah - Just two people wanting a blueberry scone , but end up finding so very much more. She’s heartbroken. He’s famous. What could go wrong? A Wonderful first date. The ghosting of fate. A year in between…. And fate doesn’t give up. Forced into fake dating, can Hayley realize and see she is worth so very much. The whispers from an ex still playing in her head. Never feeling worth anything thanks to a father with no heart. Noah claims she is hers, that it’s not fake to him. But he is an actor, so are his words true? I really enjoyed the passion shared between Hayley and Noah. The heart to heart conversations kept me hopeful. The connection they could not deny just knocking at their door. The family and friend atmosphere was like a warm hug. Everyone needs someone like Greer in their life. If you enjoy fake dating, passion, banter, mental health awareness, a mmc that doesn’t give up, and an all around beautiful story, Until Then is for you!

Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️ 🌶️
Themes: banter, fake dating, cinnamon roll MMC, second chances, mistaken identity, nicknames, mental health rep.

“I’m almost convinced I’m plummeting headfirst into this woman's blaze. And I have no desire to stop.”

I devoured this book, absolutely devoured it. The entire story is well written and unique. The cast of characters are absolutely amazing and bring you in from the start. Hayley is a strong FMC. She has trust issues that she works on during the book. Noah and his group of friends help Hayley to trust again. Noah is such a cinnamon roll and I love him. His struggles are well written and respectful. He truly just wants to be loved for who he is and nothing by more.
Together, they are dynamic. They bring out the best in each other and help support each other. The banter between the two is amazing and I laughed out loud multiple times. I also cried and felt the full array of emotions.
The spice is well written and appropriate for the plot. It helps to support the plot and it drive it.
Emily has a way with words where it allows you to truly feel how the characters are feeling. I really enjoyed reading this one and can’t wait to read about the other couple! I also loved all the Easter eggs to Emily’s romantasy series under her other pen name.

PSA - There are two versions of this book (closed-door or spicy)

I was halfway through reading the clean version on Kindle Unlimited when I found out through a review on here that there was an alternate version available for free via a download link at the end of the book.

Although I read all heat levels, I prefer spicy so this was a little frustrating as I had no intention of re-reading the first half. Instead I went back to read the early sex scene (included some character development which I think was useful) but there were multiple other changes throughout that I missed out on.

As for the story, it was okay. This was my first Emily Childs book and I was overwhelmed with all the characters (couples from previous books). I understand readers might like to see them again, but it was too much in my newbie opinion.

The main characters were both likeable enough although a little bland and the mental health discussion at the end seemed to come from nowhere. Overall it dragged with little conflict but it was fine for a light read.

The writing was generally good although some errors snuck through and some phrases were weird. Can anyone explain what a “wet laugh” is? 🤷‍♀️

Until Then was SO good. It gave me the cutest small town romance vibes thanks to Hayley’s ranch and her protective Uncles. I loved Noah’s goofy personalty when I read Our New Song, and seeing little glimpses of him here and there in The Vegas Kings series made me want to know more about him, so I was really excited when he got his own book.

I think it’s funny that both twins tried the “fake dating” thing. Even though it was pretty obvious Noah wasn’t fake dating he was just waiting for Hayley to trust him.

The mental health representation in this book was honestly very well written and I appreciated that it wasn’t glossed over. Sometimes it can feel like something like that is included just for the sake of including it. Emily was able to include it so naturally and in such an honest way.

I think the story between Noah & Hayley could’ve developed more, but I also loved how light & easy this was to read. I truly think when I read a book and wish it was longer, that it’s a positive thing that shows the author is doing a good job over being a negative.

"The thing is, I can’t remember the last time I’ve been pulled so fiercely into the orbit of a woman."

Happy one week Bday to Until Then!! Until Then is book one in the interconnected world of For Love and Rock and The Vegas Kings. Perfect for readers looking for swoony, passionate closed-door or spicy romance, banter filled pages, and a sizzling HEA guaranteed. I highly recommend ALL of them!!!

Every time Noah said "Until then" I was getting The Princess Bride vibes like "As you wish"!!! Totally swoony!! I've been impatiently awaiting his story since his twin Rees' book! And it was absolutely worth the wait!!!

And the most magical part?! Emily wrote a closed door version and a spicy version! So you can read whichever version you are more comfortable with!! GENIUS!!

Like all of Emily's books this has relatable characters that are real and flawed! You can't help but love and root for Noah and Hayley!! The banter is perfection! I binged this so hard!! Thank you so much Emily for my arc! I devoured it in one night!!

Thank you to the author for this ARC!

Ok..meet cute over food possession and scones had me rolling. The fact that Haze is a Occupational Therapist was the real selling point for me seeing as that is my career! I have never see it in a book before and it was fun to have that connection! It’s been a while since I picked up a good fake dating book and I couldn’t have been given a better option! This was a fun quick sweet romance with amazing found family and such strong representation of mental health. This was my first contemporary romance read by this author though I have read her fantasy ones and absolutely loved it! Not that I had a doubt in my mind but I also go in with an open mind. Now I have two genres to gush and drool over by Emily Childs! I also think morally golden needs to be a new trope introduced into your universes!

There is a closed door version however I read the spicier one (what can I say the mood reader in me said gimme the spice) and the spice was delectable.

.:fans self:.

I’m off to download more of Emily Child’s contemporary romances!

It's finally here! I've been waiting for Noah since Rees' book and was absolutely delighted he makes such a guest star in Noah's book. The author has a spicy and closed door version - which is amazing. I chose the spicy version (the For Love & Rock are all closed door but I obsessed over them no less).

The story was great and adorable and I love them all. There were a ton of grammatical errors and inconsistencies though, and a shower scene that makes no sense (he's wearing sweat pants that he takes off but walks into the shower wearing jeans and boxes 🤷‍♀️) so I dropped to 4 ⭐

For example: Noah broke up with Eden because she was telling the media about his nephew only for a few chapters later it being said he broke up with her because she was cheating. Or Noah and Hayley saying they loved each other then in the next chapter Hayley not being sure if she loved him. Girl - you literally just told him so you better be sure!

All that aside I loved it and read this in 24 hours!

🌶️🌶️🌶️ (spicy version)

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed reading this book! Noah and Hayley’s story is filled with delightful banter and humor. Each fearing the other won’t accept their darker sides, they both don’t feel worthy of the other’s love. Through fated encounters and friends and family that support them, Noah and Hayley find their HEA as well as unbridled passion for each other.

If you want a sweet romance with a side of smoking hot spice then be sure to click the link in the back of the book for the optional full length spicy version. With a cinnamon roll MMC, fake dating, mistaken identities, and a band called Wicked Darlings (IYKYK) this was the perfect sweet romance for me!

A new author for me to love!

This is my first Emily Childs book and I absolutely loved it!   As it was recommended in one of my favorite reader groups on Facebook, I gave it a try.
The fake dating theme was given an adorable new twist and Emily did a wonderful job. It was super cute and I couldn't put it down. I was also impressed with the option to have a sweet read or a spicy read. I hope more authors are able to do this soon because it opens up their stories to an even wider audience--especially when their books are so fantastic but might be skipped if a reader prefers one way over the other.
Now I'm going to go read her previous books, starting with the twin brother's story!

Lackluster

I see there's a spicy version of this book and I'm on the fence about whether to read it or not. The story was just "meh" so I'm not sure what added value there would be other than better bedroom scenes and such overall. I've downloaded it and added it to my KU but we'll see if I read it.

As for the story, it's ok but not great. I like books to help me escape to a different reality that's still semi-plausible. This just falls short. Much like most of the series. I'm glad it's over at this point though too. I need "real" adult books with fun scenes and overall fun stories not with mopey mental health concerned characters. That's not the escape I'm looking for. This isn't a self help genre after all.

This is a book that does have a meet cute and happy ending. It does feel mostly fluffy, with some deeper issues that pop up later on.
The Amazon Kindle Unlimited version I read has at least 5 typos or errors, so I would have liked to see something with a little more professional presentation.
I appreciate that the story was closed door. The author releases the same story with spicier scenes. Something about it all felt a little flat and undeveloped. Like a choose your own adventure story where the plot is just roughly sketched out.

I don’t plan to continue the series or other installments for now.

This book was so cute, spicy and good! I read the spicy version, but there is also a closed door version. This is the first book I have read by Emily C. Childs and it’s really good.

I haven’t ever read contemporary romance before, but this has a guarantee happily ever after, and I loved it! I think this book has opened the gateway for me for contemporary romance 😆

Tropes and things:
- mental health rep
- second chance romance
- fake dating
- cinnamon roll MMC

If contemporary romance is your thing, definitely, please give this book a try

I finished it within 24 hours 🎃

So worth the wait

I have been anxiously waiting for this book for months, while rereading the others in the series to keep me occupied.
I love the extended found family, the ongoing connections, and the way these characters build their lives linked together through their work and special interests, their families, children, and their supportive friendships.
Noah and Hayley were everything I hoped for, and the depth and humanity of these characters is why I’ll read as many books as Emily chooses to give us… Until then.💙💖

pulls you in and holds you tightly

Emily Childs books have always caught me from the first lines, but Noah! Wooow! Maybe because we’ve seen glimpses of him throughout the series’ or maybe it’s just the story, but both Noah and Haylie are so relatable, lovable, and their misunderstandings are genuine. The patience and love they show for each other are so real, and then tension is delicious! A clean but sassy read, even if you haven’t read any of her other books—read this one. It’ll make your heart happy!

You can just call this a lackluster book. The trope here is Daddy Issues. There is a tiny spark of chemistry between Hayley and Noah at the very beginning. But then because of daddy issues, she ghosts him. Then when they meet again, she won’t give him the time of day purely because he’s an actor who made no moves to use his fame and position to win her over???

I found this book dull with no chemistry or character. It also calls upon way too many characters from last books that it almost felt distracting.

Would not recommend.

Noah!!!

I'm so happy that Noah finally got his story as I fell in love with him during Rees and Vienna's book. Getting to see behind the actor persona that he puts on for the world was so great and I fell in love with his personality even more. Sweet Hayley compliments him in every way and I loved how she helped him through the dark moments. This book was everything I could have hoped for.

10 Stars At Least

Emily Child's stories are my favorite of all my author's. Start from book one and give yourself the best gift of this series. Her stories are of family's and best friends that become family and finding ever lasting love. There's not page after page of unnecessary sex scenes. Just pure page after page of great stories that when you finish one you can't wait for the next one to begin.

I only recently found out that this author is also L.J. Andrews, one of my favorite romantasy authors. So of course, I had to read this IMMEDIATELY. As always, I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed this book, I could not put it down and ended up finishing it in one go. I love a good romance to break up my heavier series, so this was perfect. Definitely recommend!!

I was so upset to find out, AT THE END OF THE BOOK, that a spicier version existed. That would have been nice to know BEFORE I finished reading the entire book.

I wish they had put that information at the BEGINNING of the book so that I could have read the version that I am much more likely to enjoy.

I really liked this book. It felt like her writing was elevated a notch with this one.

Contains: kisses, parent abandonment, suicidal thought, depression

I really liked Hayley and Noah and their story. I did not like feeling like this was part of a series that I’d missed. There are so many side characters and references to their stories that it’s clear they all have books out there too.

I binged Until Then in one day! I loved it! Loved how we got to see people from the For Love and Rock and the Vegas Kings series, love Noah and Rees’ relationship, love how Noah loved Jude and loved how it was just a story with no silly miscommunications and tropey stuff :).

I also really appreciated that it was closed door but offered a spicy version as a separate download for those who want that.

If you want a love story that has a little drama, a delightful banner, the steamy love scenes and a great plot you will enjoy this book. It all started because Noah tried to steal Hayley’s blueberry scone. What a tale to tell your children on how you met. Phenomenal story.

Respect to Emily Childs for writing both spicy/steamy and sweet. Sometimes its nice to break from one type to the other. Subject matter in all Childs' novels are those needed to be aware of. She is one of my favored authors that I purchase in all formats.

I absolutely adored this book. This was my first Emily Childs book, so I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of call back characters, but the story had me hooked. It could also use another round of editing for random spelling and grammar errors but genuinely an amazing book.

I liked the beginning the most, but it DEFINITELY read as book #33 in a series because half of the book was spent introducing other characters who were SO IN LOVE. The actual story here, if the other prior couples were left out, would have been half as long.
