This is one of my favorite incarnations of Spawn. The art is beautiful and I love the dark fantasy world that was being explored. I wish the series could have had a proper ending.

I am torn on this series for a multitude of reasons. The story and concept are both super engaging, and the art, for the most part, is really well done. Unfortunately, just as storylines were beginning to evolve and coalesce, the series abruptly ends. One has to wonder if it is due in part to the series being presented as alternate universe Spawn. The concept of a hero making a deal to return to life and a loved one are about all that is related to the Spawn series. Perhaps the series would have been better off being on its own.
If you are a completionist Spawn fan and looking for more, I would say this is worth at least a read. However, this is fairly inessential for most fans.

A dark fantasy version of Spawn. Nothing groundbreaking, but enjoyable and better than the main series at the time. I never really cared for Brian Holguin on Spawn, but I think this setting suits his writing style. There is a major problem: the series was cancelled and there is no real ending. Unfortunately, this is very common with Spawn miniseries and adjacent comics. Too bad.

The art was out of this world…the story could’ve used some work…and that ending?

This series deserved so much more than simply being cancelled. The art was breathtaking, and I really loved the story. I really hope that Spawn comes back in this form to finish the story.
