The Black Widows

What makes a woman kill the man she has loved? Three women from different backgrounds, brought together by their determination to make a fortune from their unsuspecting husbands. Carefully selected, the men are lured into the widow's trap, completely beguiled, until their ultimate disposal. The women meet regularly to discuss their progress and compare notes on new methods of termination. It seems they are invincible. A journey back in time gives the reader an insight into the women's past and the reasons for their determination to seek revenge on the men they marry. But even in death, all is not as it seems.

I started writing when I was sixteen after being runner-up in a national short story competition, although my first children's book was not published until 1998. After that I began to grow in confidence as a writer and teamed up with an illustrator and we produced some children's picture books. I then wrote some children's novels, and later wrote adult thrillers based on some of my experiences working in Family Law. My last book was published in November 2015 and fulfilled a long-held ambition to write a Christmas fairytale. The book is Twelve Days to Save Christmas and published by Crimson Cloak Publishing. I have two other books with a publisher, but other the rest are self-published and I enjoy having control over my own books. To date I have seventeen published books, and am working on the next.

Sentences like those above are not uncommon in this beautifully descriptive and atmospheric tale and excellent depiction of British life

What a brilliant five star book
This is the second book I have read by authoress Jane Finch and I have enjoyed them both. The Black Widows offers the reader a well developed plot with believable ‘real’ characters. If you enjoy a good murder, then this is a book you will love reading because there are plenty of them.
For nothing else, just get this story for the terrific ending. Finch is the real deal and an absolute pearl is a sea of mediocrity.

I have never read a book by this author before and when I picked it up and saw the title ‘Black Widows’ I thought I knew what to expect. How wrong I was. It’s the story of three women who through their lives plot, marry and then kill their husbands for monetary gain. I didn’t expect to sympathise with the characters but I did, thanks to great characterisation by the author. There are three interwoven stories here, going from past to present. What I liked about it was that I hadn’t a clue about what was going to happen and when it did I was constantly surprised. An impressive dark macabre story. Love to read more by this author.

Murder, murder, everywhere! This story had a lot of murders in it, and they were all centered around one central thing: getting away with murder. There is a mystery here, too, that is incredibly engrossing, and as soon as I started reading the story I was unable to stop. The characters were interesting and creative, and the author did a great job of setting the stage and building up the conflict. Highly recommended novel, and one I was unable to put down until I'd finished.

The past has a way of catching up with you as this novel reveals. Three widows plot the deaths of their wealthy husbands. An interesting idea well told.
