Hello lovers of apocalyptic thrillers!

I devour the same books I enjoy writing: science fiction, set in an apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic or dystopian world. I love stories about regular people being thrust into extra ordinary circumstances, and having to rely on their own cunning and that of others to survive. And I love a twist at the end.

My just released Ashfall Apocalypse, as well as previous series Madness, Highway and Stone Age are those kind of stories. They're fast moving, have some regular (and amazing) characters who must make life changing decisions, all while the world is experiencing an apocalypse.

Besides writing, my wife and I travel the world (often to research the next book). But often you can find me on a beach, Kindle in hand, with my Toes in the Water (name of my publishing company).

I'm glad it had an enjoyable ending and didn't leave us hanging. It would seem Mr. Banner had some close friends or family that were "older" since he knew abt all their aches and pains.lol

The fight for America continues

Lexi and Travis Broadmoor fight against their Uncle Abdul to stop his plans of making the United States into an Islamic Caliphate with him as Mahdi. His plans also include adopting Travis as his son and taking Lexi to be his second wife. Lexi is understandably upset about her uncle's designs for her, her brother and the country. It's up to her and the American Resistance to stop the madman's plans.

There are some amazing characters running in and out of the storyline! Besides Lexi and Travis there are a whole army of angry Americans who aren't about to submit to a madman's rule. Getting them all on the same page is Lexi's responsibility. Travis is going to wreck some plans from within his uncle's base of operations. Friends of their father (dead from the beginning when Abdul set off an EMP bomb to start the whole mess and take down the electric grid) joined up to lead the resistance against the Islamist threat. Characters to make you smile, make you angry, keep you up late at night, pray for, curse at, and most of all: characters you can believe in!
Of course, all this is brought to our consciousness by a master storyteller! Done to perfection for our amusement and edification! This is a great ending to an insanely good story! This is a great read!

Good story telling. But edit edit edit. Proof read. Misspelling, missing words or words used incorrectly. Profit and prophet are not interchangeable. These are mistakes that take the reader out of the story. Good story, but be better.

While I've enjoyed the story in this series greatly, sadly, this book, like its predecessors, is marred with an unending multitude of spelling and grammatical errors that seriously detract from what could be a much more enjoyable experience. While I fully understand the need these days to often self-publish in order to get the author's work to its audience, the absolute need for proofreading and editing is far too crucial to forego. While having a strong story and well developed, fleshed out characters in these books, the constant interruption of misspelled, improperly punctuated or simply incorrect, wrong words used is so distracting and frustrating. Sometimes, the intended sentence or statement is clearly obvious, yet other times, what was written is so messed up or convoluted that you have no choice but stop and try to figure out what was intended before you can continue on. Please Mr. Banner, for your reader's sake, find a solution to this going forward.

Not bad

I just finished reading this whole series and it was pretty good. The incorrect grammar and gross misspelling was what really got to me. But the premise was terrifying because it was realistic and I could actually imagine it happening!

I did enjoy most of the characters in the series and honestly, I think Frank was my favorite.

Travis did not behave like any 10 year old boy that I know (and I have grandsons), so I think he should have been older in the series.

As for Lexi, I never really understood exactly how old she was. She acted like a 14 year old at the first of the series and a twenty year old at the end, so I was never sure.

I do think it was worth the read!

Fantastic

This has portrayed a take over of America that is so utterly possible because of the patience of the attacking force. Build up your forces slowly, keep the military busy in other parts of the world, infiltrate position in schools, businesses, government. All the while Americans are going about their daily jobs, taking care of families, farming, church, etc. As you listen to the news, podcasts, conversations, look around and realize how great this country is and appreciate it. Lexi and Travis gave their all and learned not to take anything for granted and to fight for freedom. Great series. Thank you.

For once, a Different Story!

It was a different story which was nice to come across. Well written and keep moving. The weakness in this series is that it is way too long. The other apocalyptic series have the same issue unless each book is a different story. It’s like the author tries to cram every possible scenario into the current story. I’m glad the author has imagination and skills. But save some for another story!

What can be said that doesn't give anything away? Nothing! I can say I have been useless over the last few days as I have been completely immersed in this 4 book ride.
Each book , well done! These should not be read out of order. What is so frightening is you, the reader, will see how we could get here. It could happen, the question is how would it end if it did.
Don't jump to the back & cheat. (You will tempted to) I highly recommend this series!

It was a struggle to finish this series. It started out well with the first book, 'The Highway'. I know this is fiction but one of the things I require is that it has to make sense. In this series the EMP knocked out the electric grid and electronics, but somehow communication with the people was through radio and tv. I prefer a little more realism.

The book cover shows a compelling image.
But, unfortunately, the story line gets repetitive and juvenile. This book was the fourth and final in a series. The first book was worthwhile. But the next three were tedious and written for 12 year olds.
Sorry...it just did not spark my interest.
