Just because we're stuck here doesn't mean I have to like you...

Daniel

They say you can’t run from your past. Whoever ‘they’ are were right; the change of scenery did nothing to chase away my demons. Just because your daddy owns the first place that hired me doesn’t make you impressive—even if you think it does. Your spoiled, smug personality could use some adjusting. Unfortunately, not a deal-breaker, since I find you so damn attractive. Inviting our friends to your family’s cabin for a weekend getaway is just you wanting to impress them. Like an idiot, I thought I’d go up early…

And now we’re stuck…

Shawn

I want to know all about the guy who ran away from the small beach town he grew up in. But I guess your best friend being part of a theft ring and getting locked up for it would make anyone do a runner. Yeah, I know all about it. You’re fooling yourself if you thought I hadn’t done my research. What I wasn’t expecting was everything else I uncovered along with it. Do our friends know what you used to get up to? I tease you because you intrigue me and it’s fun getting under your skin. I only went up early to make sure everything was ready, but now we’re snowed in at my parent's cabin. Alone…

Might as well make the most of it…

Winter Ends is book three in the Season of Change series.

Daniel was previously caught up in a theft ring and betrayed by his two friends and somewhat lovers, Art and Tilly.

Shawn is the owners son of where Daniel is employed. He’s curious about Daniel and a quick google search gives him his answers.

Shawn wants to know all about Daniel , he’s drawn to him. Daniel has trauma and walls up to protect himself. There’s an attraction between them, one that Daniel is ignoring.

“My groan was low and guttural, filling the room around me, the only sound punctuating just how fucked up it was that I was jerking off, thinking about the guy who couldn’t stand to breathe the same air as me.”

Shawn has organised a birthday celebration for a friends younger brother , Aidan, up in his family mountain cabin. He manages to get Daniel to go.

Shawn neglects to tell Daniel that they are at the Cabin a day earlier and … oops they are snowed in.

Close proximity and all leads to fights, physical not too violent fights, physical contact, making out.

“I’d just made out with and dry-humped Shawn Stevens while stuck in his family cabin in the mountains.”

It’s one step forward , two steps back with Daniel. He has a lot of trauma and insecurities to battle. Shawn is definitely into him and Daniel is opening up to him then shutting down .

“For someone who was attempting to set a boundary, I sure was sending a lot of shitty signals. Mark me. Make me yours. I’ll wear it like a badge of honor.”

Daniel is prone to panic attacks , needing space and to escape that suffocating feeling. There’s cute moments between them, sharing and opening up but Daniel struggles with his trust and trauma issues.

Shawn is in deep with his protective and possessive feelings.

“Be careful what you ask for. I called you mine. There’s no taking that back. Not after this.”

Omg Nacho the kitten was adorable 😍 “Fucking awesome. Not only did you two fuck it out, but you got a cat. How domestic.”

Their friends make it up, just in time to celebrate New Years Eve.

Shawn is supportive and caring of Daniel and through all the ups and downs he gets his man.

“And like two idiots, we sat there and became boyfriends. Exclusive.”

“Daniel, I don’t know when you missed it, but I’ve been all in with you since the beginning. I fell hard, and I fell fast. Shit, babe. I fell in love with you the second you walked into the bar and asked for a job.”

I really liked that Daniel did seek a therapist for all his trauma . I would’ve liked to know why douche ex friend was trying to get in contact with him , what did he want ?

I’m intrigued about the next book in the series , it’s a brothers best friend trope with Aidan and Joe.

I rarely find myself fully immersed in a book from the first few pages, but Winter Ends captivated me instantly. The dynamic between Daniel and Shawn was raw and heartfelt.

I don’t personally experience panic attacks, however, the author portrayed them with sensitivity and authenticity, ensuring those who do are treated with respect and compassion.

I couldn’t put this book down. Shawn’s unwavering patience and gentle understanding of what Daniel was going through really showed how much he cared. What Daniel perceived as flaws, was nothing but what made him unique.

Shawn’s determination to heal Daniel made the story unforgettable, showcasing the power of compassion in healing. Joelle’s handling of mental health issues felt empowering, reminding readers that these struggles don’t define us but are part of what makes us human.

The characters were beautifully developed, and while I loved them all, Nacho was the unexpected hero.

Ultimately, Winter Ends is a love story that reminds us we are enough for the right person, and our past traumas do not diminish our worth.

I also appreciated the deliberate choice not to make the antagonists the center of attention allowing the focus to remain firmly on Shawn and Daniel’s journey. This choice made the book better and more compelling. If you’re looking for a heartfelt, empowering romance that tackles real issues with grace, I wholeheartedly recommend Winter Ends.

I really wanted to love this one! I think things just progressed from enemies to lovers too quickly and honestly, Daniel’s hot and cold personality was a bit much at times. I feel like the only 2 emotions he showed were anger and panic, even when the situation didn’t call for it. Shawn really must of loved him to put up with it because you honestly never knew what was going to set him off.

Shawn is introduced as this arrogant, spoilt and selfish person, which he actually isn’t. He’s the most level headed, caring and open in the relationship. I really liked his character. I also very much enjoyed Daniel warming up to the cat they end up adopting, those scenes were really cute.

I think this ended abruptly and that there was a missed opportunity to actually add more drama by including Art more. Most of the plot is based off of Art’s hold on Daniel and we don’t even get to see what happens when he’s out of prison. I thought for sure he’d be involved in messing with their relationship by physically being around instead of just a few phone calls.

I’m still rooting for Joe and Aiden! I was so happy to see them escalating their relationship in this book. I really can’t wait for their story next.

The enemies to lovers trope has to be done well for me to enjoy it. I’m happy to say it was done so well here.

Daniel and Shawn have this whole push and pull dynamic. It really worked well with how their storyline developed into so much more. Daniel was slightly confusing at times when he would set a boundary but then reverse on it.

While I didn’t love the deceit aspect of Shawn lying to Daniel about being at the cabin a day early, I can forgive it since it worked out so well for them in the end.

This series has been wonderful. I have loved the characters and the honesty of the writing of said characters. Showing the vulnerability of panic attacks and the willingness to seek therapy was portrayed in a way that was compassionate and realistic. I am excited for the next book.

Audio 5/5 Story 5/5
Daniel really disliked (hated??) Shawn in the beginning - which, to be fair, Shawn unintentionally made himself easy to dislike. Once they are trapped in a cabin during a snowstorm, they are forced to confront their feelings for each other and get to know who the other really is. There is some amazing spice, some great communication, some hurt/comfort and support, and a little ball of orange fluff. I enjoyed seeing the guys from previous books, even though they could be little sh*t stirrers when they wanted to be. Absolutely ready for the final book and for Aiden and Joe to finally get their chance!

Oliver Williams does a wonderful job of narrating. I have no notes - pacing, voice inflections and variations, emoting - it's just all done so well.

For whatever reason, I just eat up these books! 400pages gone in a day it’s a very strange thing.
Joelle did a great job the “enemies to lovers” although I’d say it was more of dislike to lovers. I loved the snowed in trope and the two boys finding a cat! It had a great hurt/comfort vibe poor Daniel had been through so much and Shawn was just perfect for him. I also appreciated that there wasn’t a 3rd act break-up. It was perfect for the book and I’m glad we didn’t have to go through any of that business! Now what I’m really looking forward to is Joes story in book 4! Whew I hope that Camboy is 🥵🔥!

Daniel and Shawn ❤️

4.5 Stars ⭐️

I really adored this story. The enemies to lovers trope sucked me right in but it was the characters that sold this read for me. They couldn't have been more perfect for each other. There was an emotional depth and vulnerability to this build that was surprising and so welcome plus lots of back and forth but that's to be expected with this trope. All in all is was sexy, sweet and very heartfelt. I would absolutely recommend.

Winter Ends is the 3rd book in the Season of Change series. It can be read as a standalone, but is best read in order. This is Daniel and Shawns story. I really got hooked into the story from the first chapter and couldn't put the book down. I loved watching these two who didn't seem to like each other come together. I loved how Joelle handled the panic attacks because I have had a few and she handled it with care and understanding. The series just keeps getting better and better. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads.

“So what you’re saying is that you offered to take Daniel to a place he’s never been to have some fun, and he told you no?” I stared dumbfounded at the woman who looked at me without an ounce of amusement with a wineglass in her hand. She turned to Daniel and smacked him upside the head. “You’re going.” “The hell, Mom?” I wanted to laugh. I’d never seen parents interact with their children like this.
There have been a lot of great parents within these romances I read but Daniel's mom is 100% one of the best. Shawn using Daniel's own parents against him should not have been as funny as it was.
We were back to Daniel looking so lost in thought. He fidgeted beneath the blanket, and before I knew it, his fingers slid between mine. Holy. Shit. Were we holding hands?<----(I flung my freaking phone at the absolute cuteness overload of this scene. Total mushball OMG)
These two were just so sweet together. I know it's technically E2L but we didn't have to suffer through either of them acting horribly, thank God. Daniel, at the end of the day, just really needed someone to give a shit. And it turns out that Shawn excels at just that.
Warm spools of desire swam through my veins as he continued to lick and suck at random places on my dick. I’d give anything for him to suck me down again, but fuck, this was perfection. Like he was savoring the experience.
And of course you have Daniel's steamy first times with a boy. Shawn took such good care of him💙💙

Truly I felt for Daniel. He had some deep-seated confidence issues due to people he trusted making him feel self-conscious about his needs. Any of us who have been a victim of shitty people can identify with him and how all it takes is one bad-timed comment from someone you love to completely screw your head up.

I loved the parents in this story. Both sets are super supportive in different ways. It was so refreshing to not have that angst for once. I also died over the Aiden & Joe scene. I have been chomping at the bit for their book which I know is next!!

ALC review (June 2025)

I loved this book when I first read it back in November. Listening to this gave me a whole new perspective of such a wonderful story.
The way that Oliver Williams narrates this story, brings Shawn and Daniel to life, and the animosity is real, amd ao is the longing and passion that is just under the surface.

Arc Review (November 2024)

Daniel Morgan has moved from his home town of Ocean Shores to Seattle with his best friend Chase. Daniel has left behind his past which meant his friends at the time screwed him over. Daniel works at a bar and restaurant called ‘Margarets’.

Shawn Stevens is the son of the owner of Margarets and also works there, even though he would prefer not to. His family owns more than one business in Seattle.

Daniel and Shawn rub each other up the wrong way, and there is animosity between them. Daniel gets under Shawn’s skin. He wants to know more about why he moved across country with his friend.

Shawn suggests that he throws a birthday get together for Aiden (Chase’s brother) at his cabin in the woods. Convincing Daniel to go, they arrive before everyone else, and then get snowed in, things then turn a lot hotter.

I have loved the Season of Change series from Joelle Lynne. Every book gets better and better. Shawn and Daniel are enemies to lovers in the best way possible. Nacho is also adorable.
Bring on spring for Aiden and Joe.

“Because you’re Daniel Morgan and you deserve to be treated like the f**king king you are”.

This is by far my favorite book in the series. I loved winter ends. It was so good. It probably helps that my favorite trope is enemies to lovers, but I feel like the main trope is hurt/ comfort. There’s so much hurt/comfort and a little bit of enemies to lovers in my opinion. Hurt/ comfort isn’t always my favorite. It isn’t my least favorite either but here it was incredible. It worked so well especially with the enemies to lovers. The story was compelling, funny, sweet, and really moving. I felt like I was watching a movie and not reading a book. I didn’t want to stop watching oops I mean reading it. I really didn’t want it to end. I wanted it to keep going.
Daniel and Sean are great characters. They are both intriguing and complex. So What happens when these two complex people get snowed in together. Well, all sorts of things happen. Wild wonderful things.
I also really enjoy revisiting the other characters from the books in the series. It’s like visiting old friends. That’s how Joel Lynn makes me feel when I read her books, like I know these people, they are my friends.
I have received an ARC and this is my honest opinion

No one else wanted this to be about Art and Daniel ? Art redemption and amazing ditching the girl / gay for you perfect slow burn kind of book ? Nooo .. we had boring Shawn.
This is not enemies to lovers and there is no panic attacks in sight. I was so excited about a forced proximity enemies to lovers but we had no slow burn, no hate, frustrating characters and kids for friends.

“You say I’m yours, then fucking prove it. Own me. Fuck me within an inch of my sanity. Do it, Shawn. I want it to be you.”

BLURB START:

BLURB END:

Winter ends is book four of the season of change series by Joelle Lynne i’ve been following the series since the beginning and each couple has a very special place in my heart even though I have an immensely big liking for this story, I gotta say Brandon and Andrew had my heart and will always have my heart. Shawn and Daniel on the other hand. Was a couple that many of us had already seen was a chance in the future really like all the couples in the series, the chemistry was just set from the start

I somehow have enormous beef with Daniel something about him just rubs me the wrong way I mean I get his traumatised and all that but fuck I wanted to squeeze his throat so hard that he cannot even gag on Shawn in any near future he was just extremely passive aggressive but don’t get me wrong. He was also extremely entertaining especially in his way of thinking it was something that really drew me into the book how much he fought his attraction to Shawn but in the end it didn’t do nothing it never works fighting once attraction chemicals always seems to win.

“marking him. Making him mine. Daniel Morgan would reek of me before I was done with him. There’d be no doubt who he belonged to. No other soul would be allowed to touch him.”

Seriously, about 70% of this book, pure smut absolute filth and damn did it do wonders yes it freaking did That was so hot from the way Daniel was still trying to push away his attraction to Shawn’s extreme possessiveness
And you got admire Daniel, he
really held out until the very moment Sean very aggressively demands him as his which also by the way they do a lot but it also so extremely hard so stay calm touch some grass drink some milk lick a rock I don’t know do something

I know my reviews are getting shorter and shorter and I am sincerely sorry about that. I just have so much going on recently that I have a hard time sitting down reading and reviewing but I’m really doing my best anyway I read this book 4 out of five and it is definitely worth reading so if you were a sucker for enemies to lovers with a smitch of forced proximity i’m recommending this to you until next time, my loves

Rating: 4/5
Spice: 4/5
Angst: 1/5
Would I read again?: yes

Winter Ends by Joelle Lynne is the third book in the Season of Change series, and while it can stand alone, it’s best appreciated as part of the larger narrative. This instalment delves into the emotional and tender journey of Daniel and Shawn, two men who start as adversaries but discover that their animosity hides something far deeper.

Daniel is a man scarred by tragedy, struggling to rebuild his life after years of emotional abuse and a devastating loss. Moving to Seattle with his best friend Chase, he takes a job as a bartender, determined to create a new beginning on his own terms. Daniel keeps the world at arm's length, letting only Chase into his tightly guarded life. His emotional walls seem impenetrable—until Shawn enters the picture.

Shawn, the nosy and tenacious son of the bar's owner, is the opposite of Daniel in many ways. Where Daniel is reserved, Shawn is bold and curious. Though their interactions often lead to bickering, it’s clear that Shawn’s brashness stems from genuine interest and concern. He’s intrigued by Daniel’s closed-off demeanour and can’t resist digging into his past, even when Daniel pushes him away. Shawn’s persistence is a catalyst for change, and it begins to chip away at Daniel’s defences.

The turning point comes when Daniel reluctantly joins Shawn and their friends for a New Year’s trip to a mountain cabin. A sudden snowstorm traps the two together before the rest of the group arrives, forcing them to confront their feelings and their guarded truths. In the quiet isolation of the cabin, Shawn’s relentless curiosity and Daniel’s unspoken pain finally collide, leading to heartfelt revelations and a shift in their relationship. As they share their vulnerabilities, the animosity between them dissolves, replaced by a burgeoning connection neither can deny.

Joelle Lynne masterfully portrays the complexities of overcoming trauma and finding love again. Daniel’s struggles with panic attacks are handled with care and authenticity, adding depth to his character and making his journey all the more relatable. Shawn’s role as a caretaker shines beautifully, showing his determination to support Daniel while respecting his boundaries. Their dynamic is heartwarming, as Shawn’s pushiness is tempered by compassion, and Daniel’s resistance melts into trust.

The story is a delightful mix of angst, healing, and romance. Watching Daniel and Shawn bumble their way through falling in love is both endearing and deeply satisfying. Their chemistry is electric, and their journey from antagonists to lovers is woven with tender moments, playful banter, and emotional breakthroughs.

Winter Ends is a testament to the power of love to heal even the deepest wounds. It’s a story of second chances, resilience, and finding treasure in the people who see you for who you truly are. This series just keeps getting better, and Daniel and Shawn’s story is a standout that will stay with readers long after the final page. A must-read for fans of heartfelt, character-driven romance.

Daniel & Shawn
What a fantastic story to continue this series! I'll admit I had to remind myself a little bit of who the MCs for this story were and how they connected to the other two books in the series, but it was really easy to jump back into Joelle's universe and envelop myself in Daniel and Shawn's story.

I always love a great enemies-to-lovers story, and this one was no exception. I love the natural snark and banter that passes back and forth between these gentleman. It's always funny to see how two people can be so antagonistic to one another while not really knowing much about each other; realizing their "enemy-ness" has no legs to stand on.

We're given only a bit of Shawn's backstory here, but hearing everything Daniel had to deal with was rough at times. He certainly didn't deserve the vitriol he received from certain people in his life. I was really happy to see how easily supportive Shawn was to Daniel as soon as he had a fuller picture to work with. Knowing their friend Chase was super supportive of Daniel also told Shawn that he really didn't have anything to worry about. And once some of the other characters were in the know, Daniel found that with the right people, life doesn't have to be toxic, and that you're certainly not required to put yourself through extra hard times just to get through each day. Daniel underwent a lot of personal development in this story, and it was wonderful to see him gain so much more confidence and contentment as the story progressed.

I was surprised how the book itself ended, but I was really happy to see the MCs end their part of the story in ways that fit their individual & personal evolution.

I loved every part of Winter Ends, and I am so looking forward to Aiden & Joe's book next! ❤️

I received an advance copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

This is my first read by this author and it definitely won't be my last, I will be going back and reading the rest in the series.

“And like two idiots, we sat there and became boyfriends. Exclusive.”

I fucking loved these characters and their story. I couldn't put it down for the life off me, I was hooked, hooked, hooked and I will say it again hooked right from the start. I fell so deeply in love with Shawn and Daniel. Just dreamy.

“I’d just made out with and dry-humped Shawn Stevens while stuck in his family cabin in the mountains.”

It's such an heartwarming and emotional journey. The characters are bloody brilliant and hilarious. They made me laugh. But also sad. The author sure knew what she was doing, the way she created their world, pain etc was brilliant. I felt like i was apart of it.

“My groan was low and guttural, filling the room around me, the only sound punctuating just how fucked up it was that I was jerking off, thinking about the guy who couldn’t stand to breathe the same air as me.”

The characters vulnerability and panic attacks and seeking therapy was good. I loved that. I could feel everything they where feeling and more.

“Fucking awesome. Not only did you two fuck it out, but you got a cat. How domestic.”

These two where really made for each other, Definitely soul mates. It's action packed with so much. It's heartwarming, sweet, hot and beautiful. I can't wait to read more. Highly recommend.

“Daniel, I don’t know when you missed it, but I’ve been all in with you since the beginning. I fell hard, and I fell fast. Shit, babe. I fell in love with you the second you walked into the bar and asked for a job.”

Hmm... Ok, Joelle, you did the enemies-to-lovers trope justice. The author usually has a sweeter way of telling stories, so I did not expect the enemies element to be this good.

I am a little bit torn because I loved Shawn & Daniel as a couple, but I felt like we were rushing to finish their story in a way. Sure, the timeline was how it was, but we did not get much from before, if it makes sense.

For example, in Spring, we also have a tight timeline, but... we got to see Joe & Aiden tiptoe around each other more throughout the series, unlike Shawn & Daniel.

I think if the book had been 40-50 pages longer, it would've been perfect.

As characters, Shawn & Daniel are kind of opposites. Shawn is more relaxed, more chill, while Daniel is wound up tight. I get that he had some trust issues, and he went through some things, but I did not like how he always projected that on Shawn. It looked like he was hating Shawn for the sins of others, if it makes sense. His hot and cold personality made me want to just stop reading... Shawn is a saint for putting up with all that and being patient with him.

Nathan... God, I despise him. I can't stand him. I hope I will never have to read about him in my life. ugh.

Overall, I liked the story, Shawn & Daniel are perfect together. Once Daniel gets his head out of his a*s, you can tell how much sense they make. The enemies-to-lovers part was done right & I liked the tension and what happened at the cabin. Nacho was also a cute addition.

This one will be a 3.5-3.75... I wish I could've rate this more, but... Daniel did not make it easy for me.

Book three in the Seasons of Change series by Joelle Lynne continued the streak of adorable characters, good friends and fun moments.

In Winter Ends, we see Daniel (Chase's best friend) and Shawn, the coworker/son of the restaurant owner where the guys work. Daniel is still struggling with everything that happened in his past. Art and Tillie really messed him up. He has a strained relationship with his parents and his time with Chase has been cut shorter because of Chase's relationship with Nathan. Daniel is struggling to make ends meet and is not happy.

Shawn is the boss's son. He has something out for Daniel and continually instigates fights and arguments with him...but they always say if someone picks on you it may mean that they like you!

Becoming stranded in a cabin during a snow storm that was supposed to be the whole crew forces Daniel and Shawn to spend time together, just the two of them. The men see sides of one another that they start to like, and eventually they can't hide their attraction to one another anymore.

When the gang makes it to the cabin and their peace is disturbed, they have to decide how they are going to continue their relationship. Shawn really wants to break down those walls and take care of Daniel but Daniel has to let him.

There are cameos of the group: Chase and Nathan, Andrew and Brandon and Joe...and Aiden. It's fun and goofy and sexy all in one. I really like this series and can't wait for book four.

BETA/ARC READ

Joelle Lynne is generally a sweet romance author, but I think she's missed her calling as an enemies to lovers author. At least sometimes because I love her sweet boys, too.

We have Daniel, who is hurting on the inside, hiding away after a tragedy. Not only did he face that, trying to get his life back together again, but he spent years recovering from a narcissistic friend who loved to gaslight him. Starting over in Seattle with his best friend Chase, he finds work as a bartender. He wants to do this on his own, shutting everyone out except for Chase. That's why Shawn is trouble. Shawn threatens to topple over Daniels flimsy walls.

Shawn is the son of the bar's owner. He and Daniel are constantly at each other's throats, but mostly it's Shawn reacting to Daniel. Regardless, they do not get along. But Shawn is NOSY and a bit overbearing. He's curious about Daniel why he's so closed off to the world, so he starts to dig into Daniel's life. It's a good thing Shawn is a bit pushy, because it gets Daniel out of his shell enough to go with him to a cabin in mountains for New Year's with all their friends.

Before the friends arrive, a snow storm hits, leaving Daniel and Shawn trapped and forced to face what is truly going on. Once they do, a whole world opens up to them, and they find themselves realizing that perhaps they don't hate each other as much as they believed.

Great read! My favorite in the series!

Poor Daniel was dealing with so much after having been betrayed in the worst ways by his two closest friends, one of which was still trying to cause him more pain. He was also dealing with the aftermath because that betrayal made it hard for his parents to trust him and so Daniel was pretty much on his own, struggling to make ends meet in the very expensive cit of Seattle to which his friend Chase convinced him to move. He finds work at a local bar/restaurant owned by Shawn's family, but it means he has to with Shawn and they do not get along. They have a very antagonistic relationship, but luckily their friend group deals with it and they are all going to a cabin to celebrate a member's birthday. Shawn and Daniel are there first.....but they become snowed in! I love the snowed in trope as it allows these enemies to work through enough things to become lovers. Daniel is very hot and cold, which is not surprising given his trust issues, but...I didn't like how this part was written, honestly. However, I loved the spicy components in this book and the excellent care and comfort Shawn provides to Daniel, plus the way that Daniel grew to love the cat Nacho. It's great how Daniel eventually seeks therapy and I love their HEA! Kudos as well to the author - not only was the spice nice but I especially love Shawn's possessive streak and marking tendencies! I can't wait for the next book with Joe and Aiden!

Daniel and Shawn start off as enemies, Daniel doesn't trust easily after being betrayed by those he thought were his friends. It's too bad his coworker, Shawn, doesn't seem to get the message that he's not interested in being friends.

Shawn is a charasmatic person, he loves making friends and getting to know people better. And his coworker is one giant question mark. Slowly but surely, or rather, stubbornly, he begins to make progress getting to know the jaded man... But the question is, will Daniel let him get close?

I liked this story, if you love the enemies to lovers trope, you'll love this. This is full of angst, plenty of steam, enemies, and eventually, even love. I thought the pacing of this story was good, Daniel and Shawn definitely have chemistry together, and they had plenty of dialogue with one another. I liked how throughout the story we got to gradually see a different side of Daniel, and learn why he is so guarded and jaded towards others. I will say that I wish there were more moments where they spent quality time together without it always leading to a spicy scene. It would've been nice to have those heartwarming scenes where they get to know one another, and spend time together without the spice being involved all the time.

However, that is definitely a personal preference. I thought overall this was a great story!

“Daniel was my code. My Pandora’s box. The case I needed to solve. He would let me in.”

Daniel and Shawn had instant chemistry from the beginning. Their relationship started off as intense because of their animosity between them. From the start since Daniel moved to Seattle with his best friend Chase, Shawn gets under his skin.

When what was meant to be a birthday celebration for their friend turns into Daniel and Shawn getting snowed in at Shawn’s family cabin. From there things start to unravel.

I loved Daniel and Shawn’s relationship.
Their push and pull dynamic was intense.
Daniel has always been a mystery to Shawn and that led him to keep wanting to get to know him more.

As their relationship started to grow deeper, more things started to make sense to Shawn and why Daniel was always so closed off towards him but as they got to know each other more, their relationship became stronger and I loved how protective and understanding Shawn was of Daniel.

Overall this was a fast paced and cute enemies to lovers story with hurt/comfort vibes that is perfect to read during the holidays and I really enjoyed this book. Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC to read and review.

I’ve been waiting for more of Daniel since book one and the wait was worth it. These two had me laughing in book two, it was obvious they had a thing for each other. Went Daniel endured was not cool and I’m glad Shawn stepped in when he did because if not who knows what would have happened. Now I need April to hurry up and get here so I can finally have Aiden & Joes book. 🖤🔥🥃🔥🖤

My favorite quotes:

• Daniel: What little clothing we still had on disappeared and the feel of all his skin against mine set my body on fire. I burned in ways I’d never burned before. How did one person turn me inside out so completely? I wasn’t just ready to hand over everything with sex. Even though I hated him, somehow, I wanted to tell him everything. Shawn had been so gentle with me so far and I wanted to trust that he wouldn’t break me.

• Shawn: When had I become this? I’d never wanted anything serious, but I hadn’t been kidding when I said that Daniel was different. Maybe it was because of what he’d gone through with his friend that made him so relatable to me.

• Daniel: Shawn had worked his way in, thawed my heart, and opened up new possibilities. We had a long way to go, but the adventure would be worth it.

4.5☆

I really enjoyed Daniel and Shawn's story. Daniel moved to Seattle to get distance from a situation back home, and meets Shawn who is the owner's son(and his colleague) at the restaurant he works at. Shawn acts in a way that reminds Daniel of someone from his past so he tries to keep his distance from Shawn. Being snowed in together does not help that either. I loved the caretaking that happened in this book, and how Shawn treated Daniel like the king he was. Shawn was gentle, and helpful and tried to be there for Daniel. He also tried to make Daniel communicate with him, and while there were missteps when it came to communicating in the end they worked it out. I loved how slowly but surely Daniel opened up to Shawn and Shawn never once judged him. I loved how Shawn just wanted Daniel to feel better and be happy and was willing to do everything to achieve that, because surprise surprise! contrary to what Daniel believed Shawn had a huge crush on him. I really loved the tension they had going on before they snapped.

This book somehow felt also lighthearted and packed some emotional moments too. A very enjoyable read indeed.

Winter Ends by Joelle Lynne is the third book in the Seasons of Change series. I love this series and this book is a beautiful addition to it. This series deals with love and healing. In this book we have Daniel and Shawn’s journey, a very special one.

Daniel is a character that already moved something in me in the previous books. He’s been through so much, and he doesn’t let anyone get close. Shawn has always had what he wanted (not a spoiled kid, but almost), and his persistence and curious force doesn’t let him to give up on Daniel. They clash at first, with a lot of push-and-pull tension, but their relationship grew into something deeper and it felt wonderful.

The snowed-in cabin was a perfect setting for them to really get to know each other, and it helped Daniel to letting his walls to come down. It was heartwarming how they slowly opened up to each other. It was hard to witness Daniel’s panic attacks and how he also struggled with anxiety. Shawn’s patience and care towards Daniel really stood out.

I liked the mix of angst, growth and romance. Relationships are messy and theirs is a clear example of what will happen if you push too hard.

I recommend this book and the previous two. I’ll be waiting for the next and last book in the series.

I received an ARC from GRR for free, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

Daniel moved with his best friend to get away from his toxic ex friends and start new. He is pretty guarded off and despise's Shawn because he is just like his ex- friend who betrayed and used him. Daniel is a mystery to Shawn, but Shawn is determined to break down his walls and find out who the real Daniel is underneath his tough exterior.

The tension between these two was insane. Being snowed in together did not help the matter any. Watching these two begin to open up to each other and become vulnerable was a beautiful thing. I love how possessive these two got with each and how patient Shawn was with Daniel as he opened up to him.

I'm so excited for the next couple in this series!

I enjoyed very much this ennemies to lover, 3rd book of the Season of Change series.
Daniel is from Ocean shore (book 1) and went to Seattle to escape a toxic (even if solved) situation back home. He works in a restaurant with Shawn, who is the son of the owner, and to whom he is attracted but he really does not want to because Shawn reminds him of his toxic ex-best friend. Shawn is also attracted to Daniel, but he does not know how to deal with it, so he pushes Daniel's bottons all the time. They end up snowed in, in a cabin alone for a few days, and all kind of sparks fly all over.
I loved Shawn, he is supposed to be a spoiled brat, but he's not at all, he is caring, loving, and so patient. I did not like Daniel that much, he was actually rude with Shawn, many times, without real reasons, running hot and cold. However, throughout the book, it is shown that this is due to unsolved trauma.
Overall, I enjoyed reading the book, it's more angsty that the two previous one, I would have enjoyed a longer end, but we have a nice bonus epilogue and also the premises for next book ;-)

I got an ARC and this is my honest review
