Chance and Rory's story!

Dead to their pasts. Ghosts. No family ties. No connections.

Six men with a top-secret mission move to a small town where they have to navigate local life, protect their secret, and, above all, stay single.

Aurora Harper doesn’t like Chance Hughes. He’s too handsome, too charismatic, and he’s a player. She’s had enough of players in her life after her fiancé left her for a bridesmaid three weeks before the wedding.

Been there, done that, not doing it again. But Rory let down her guard.

She and Chance spent two hot weeks together after Rory nearly died at the hands of a madman. Chance was part of the team that found her, and he stayed by her side from the moment she was freed until she kicked him out of her house when she came to her senses.

That should have been the end of it… until one line on a plastic stick changes her life forever.

Thanks to a tragic childhood, Ghost Ops soldier Chance doesn’t believe in the kind of love that lasts. There’s always been something about Rory that drew him to her, but they’re like oil and water. It’s not meant to be and it’s not worth fighting for.

But then Chance learns Rory’s pregnant at the same time someone starts sabotaging her home and business. There’s not a force on this earth that can stop Chance from unleashing the warrior inside and ending the threat to his woman and child.

Because they are his. And he’s going to prove it to her, even if it takes his very last breath to do so…

Chance is book two in the Ghost Ops series by Lynn Raye Harris. Every time Aurora Harper and Chance Hughes get together, they rub each other up the wrong way. After Emma Grace's ex-partner hurt Aurora Harper, they spent two beautiful weeks together recovering, then decided to go their separate ways. However, a couple of weeks later, Aurora realised she was pregnant and began being threatened by someone, which prompted Chance to become more involved in her life again. Will Aurora and Chance get together for the baby? The readers of Chance will continue to follow Chance and Aurora to discover what happens.

After reading the first book in this series, I had to read this book straight away, and I was pleased I did. It continues my engagement with this series. Chance made me think about what developers do when they want to make money. In addition, readers of Chance will learn how to run a small business in a small rural town.

I love Lynn Raye Harris's portrayal of her characters and their interactions throughout this book. Chance is well written and well researched by Lynn Raye Harris. I like Lynn Raye Harris's descriptions of Chance settings, which help me imagine myself as part of the book's plot.

I recommend this book.

I had a feeling this story was going to be good because I fell in love with Rory and Chance’s banter in book one of ghost ops but it was way better than good.
Rory and Chance have a fling, Rory and ends it before she gets her heart broken again she just can’t take that risk and it’s not even really about trusting Chance she thinks he is great for a player it was all really about trusting herself and she wasn’t ready to test this waters first.
But actions have consequences!!!!!
Consequences lead to over protective alpha move in take over my life for Rory… but there is so much more to it all when all kinds of things start going wrong for Rory both on her farm and at her family bar and there is no such thing as coincidence.
Chance is not giving up even though Rory ended it he wants to say to hell with her and walk away but he just can’t the pull toward Rory is just that strong he just has to be patient and wait her out… Until she is in trouble then gloves are off Chance won’t lose her, he won’t give her up consequences or not Rory is his, he just has to make her realise it.
Kitten and Chancy Pants are in for a wild ride.

3.5 Stars. I'm going to admit I had high expectations when I saw the high ratings and read the summary yet this sort of fizzled for me.

This is Chance and Aurora's story. Aurora finds out she is pregnant after ending a fling with Chance. Chance really liked Aurora but due to some personal struggles, she didn't want to let him into her life until then.

I think the pregnancy in this book was not handled well and felt really clunky and like an after thought. She finds out she is pregnant and it brings them together, but it only would get brought up so Chance could show concern for her and they could talk about her relationship hang ups and how to work through them. I never saw her and Chance talk about buying stuff for the baby or going to an appointment together or typical stuff in books with a pregnant FMC. The fact that a similar effect could have been accomplished with just the diabetes storyline and taking out the pregnancy is what really irked me. The story ends and there was no gender reveal or name planning. I know it's an ongoing series, but dang one dimensional pregnancy plot point is a first for me in a romantic suspense.

Another thing to note is the book is VERY slow burn and there is a large focus on the suspense part with Rory vs the romance between them. It felt rather long. Rory's character was stubborn as a mule and while I could understand why she felt that way I think she needed therapy.

The book was ok and I read it pretty fast but I'm not sure this series is for me.

This is the 5th book that I have read by Lynn Raye Harris. I did not really like the other books, but decided to read this one because I thought the first book in the series was okay.

Starting out I thought I had finally found a book by the author that I liked. I wasn't skipping or skimming anything. However, by the time I was half way through the book it started to get boring and I was checking to see how many more pages to go. The book could loose 100 pages and it would be okay. Half way through the book started to drag. It literally was the daily life of Rory and Chance. I was ready to get to the suspense. As with the previous book, the suspense was about 5 or 6 pages and it was over.

Chance was like all of the other male leads in the books I had read. He was not interested in commitment because of his past. Of course that changed. Rory and her diabetes became boring as it was talked about often. They were having a baby, not a kid. I did not like the use of 'kid' as much as it was used. I would have preferred 'baby.' I finally started skimming just to finish the book.

I have no interest in the rest of the series. I may read the last book in the series to see how things end, but I won't be reading the next 3 books in the series. I hate the fact that I own several of the author's books that I have not read.

It's not everyday that we find the kind of partner that will call us on our BS, protect us from danger and our own doubts, and be there for us every step of the way as we battle through the daily crap of living. Chance is the story of two people that find one another through all the drama and danger, finally coming out the other side with the realization that their love is strong enough to beat any threat. Rory’s heart has been badly bruised, but thankfully her spirit hasn’t been broken and when she finds the strength to slowly trust, Chance shows her that he will heal her and always be there for her. Her fierce need to protect herself and those she loves to give her an inner strength that could be standup to any obstacle and her sweet, loving nature makes her the quintessential southern woman in my opinion once she opens her heart to share her love with Chance. Chance is an amazingly open and sweet man, one that locked eyes on Rory and never seemed to be able to get her out of his mind or heart. Once he learns the gift fate has given them, he goes all in and determines that he will break down her walls and shows her he will be everything she needs in a partner for the rest of their lives. The blazing passion between these two has been obvious from the first moment they met in the previous book, and it never wanes as their loves grows in their story. I am looking forward to watching their relationship develop even more as their future develops in future novels. Seth should be one heck of a story as it seems like Seth will have his heart stolen by a woman that is suspected of being in league with enemies and is definitely in danger. I am loving this new spinoff series and cannot wait for the full series to be done, because I am betting, we won’t get Ghost’s book until last (cries a bit), but until then, I will enjoy each new release as we get it from Ms. Harris.

Lynn Raye Harris delivers a thrilling and emotionally charged read with "Ghost Ops #2 - Chance", a perfect blend of romance, action, and suspense. From start to finish, I was completely hooked by the chemistry between Chance Hughes and Aurora "Rory" Harper, as well as the high-stakes danger that looms over them. This book quickly became one of my favorites!

The story begins with Chance, a member of the elite Ghost Ops team, who’s used to living under the radar and keeping his emotions locked away. He’s undeniably charming, yet haunted by a past that convinces him he’s unworthy of love. Aurora, on the other hand, is strong, independent, and determined to guard her heart after a devastating betrayal. She doesn’t trust men like Chance—handsome and undeniably a player—but fate has other plans for them.

I absolutely loved the tension between them. Their relationship is a classic enemies-to-lovers tale, but with so much more at stake. Their connection felt real, raw, and intense, especially after their two-week fling that leaves Rory with much more than memories—she's pregnant. The surprise pregnancy plotline, mixed with the threat to Rory’s safety, adds layers of complexity and emotion that keep you turning the pages.

Chance’s evolution from a man running from his feelings to a fierce protector willing to lay down his life for Rory and their unborn child is beautifully written. Lynn Raye Harris captures his inner struggle and growing need to fight for the family he never thought he could have. Rory’s character is equally compelling, as she grapples with trusting Chance while trying to protect her heart. The emotional stakes are high, and the author doesn’t shy away from exploring their vulnerabilities.

The suspense element, with someone sabotaging Rory’s home and business, adds an exciting edge to the romance. The danger keeps you on edge, while Chance’s unwavering determination to protect Rory and their baby brings out his most heroic qualities. The small-town setting adds a nice contrast, grounding the story in everyday life, which makes their emotional journey even more relatable.

Overall, Chance is a gripping read that perfectly balances steamy romance, heart-pounding action, and deep emotional growth. Lynn Raye Harris has crafted a story that’s not only about love but about fighting for what truly matters. If you love military protector romances, strong-willed heroines, and emotionally complex heroes, you won't be able to put this book down! It’s definitely earned a spot on my favorites list.

Chance by Lynn Raye Harris, book two in the Ghost Ops series, is a small town, enemies to lovers, surprise pregnancy, military protector romance; that is the perfect mixture of romance, action, and suspense. From start to finish, I was completely hooked by the chemistry between Chance Hughes and Aurora "Rory" Harper, along with the high-stakes danger that hangs over them.

Rory and Chance have a fling that she ended before she could get her heart broken again; she just can’t take that risk. It’s not that she doesn’t trust Chance, believing he is a player, it’s that she doesn’t trust herself after having her heart broken by her cheating fiancé. But actions have consequences, and in this case, the consequences lead to the over protective Chance moving in. When things start going wrong for Rory, both on her farm and at her family bar, there is no such thing as coincidence. The sabotaging of Rory’s home and business, adds an exciting edge to the romance; while the danger and tension keeps Chance determined to protect Rory and their baby. The small-town setting filled with quirky characters, small town gossip, a secret mission full of high stakes intrigue, a heroine realistically living with diabetes, and lots of steam guide them on their emotional journey to a forever love; neither expected to find.

Ms. Harris does an excellent job at weaving the high-stakes tension with the tender nurturing of a romance between Rory and Chance. This is not only a story that’s not only about love but about fighting for what truly matters. If you love military protector romances, strong-willed heroines, and emotionally complex heroes, you won't be able to put this book down.

Rory, is a take no shit independent business woman and has never let her diabetes take hold of the way she lives.

Being betrayed is never easy and she was not only hurt by the man she was planning a future with but also a close friend. Time may have passed since it happened, but she doesn't trust or believe in commitments anymore. And when pushed she just shuts down.

Chance, he is one of six well trained operatives, he and his friends are ghosts, with one mission. Protect their country, to do this they are in disguise as former military operatives starting over as civilians.

At the age of thirteen his whole life fell apart, then foster care had him making bad choices but the military shaped him into the man he is today. Loyal, dangerous and protective/possessive as f*** when Aurora Harper is in the picture.

...this is the second book in the Ghost Ops Series and it was a fantastic read.

Chance and Rory had two incredible weeks, with Chance thinking he finally has a "chance"😂, until Rory shuts it down.

But that doesn't last very long, with a positive pregnancy test, and developers in their small town who are willing to do everything to get their hands on Rory's property. Rory will soon realise that when it comes to her and their unborn child, there is no keeping Chance away!

Chance and Rory had you laughing at their never ending banter, the chemistry was intense as hell, and when the spice hits! Damn 🔥🥵

Chance is not exactly what I expected. Sure, he ticks the necessary boxes for H.O.T. material. Super sexy, insanely protective, traumatic past, but not quite broken. He recognizes Rory needs a careful approach. Words will never be enough to convince her of anything. In fact, they’re more likely to push her even further away. So he gives her space and lets her make her own decisions about most things, always asking her what she wants or thinks about things. He shows her he cares and will always be there for her. Their romance took a bit more time than most, but they eventually got there.

Another one falls. Poor Ghost. I really can’t wait to see him fall head over boots for the right woman for him. Maybe then he’ll truly understand. Part of him obviously does already, but he won’t show it more than absolutely necessary. He is still their superior officer after all. I think of Ghost as Mendez Light.

Anyway, I liked this book more than the first one. There are lots of hints to set up for future relationships. I love getting to know the other guys and still seeing what’s going on with the previous couple. I felt Chance had more solid footing and just flowed better than Blaze and Emma’s book.

I really like Sutton’s Creek. LRH nailed the small town details where everyone thinks they know everyone else’s business. The way things change in details as stories spread through town like wildfire is hilarious at times and so realistic! I kinda miss that small town setting at times myself.

I’ll give this one a solid 4.5 stars rounded up to 5. Definitely plan to read again sometime. Now what to read while waiting for Seth to arrive…

Gonna say that I was just in the right mood to read this book, and so I really enjoyed it. I haven’t read this author in awhile, so this was a pleasant surprise. This is the second book in the series, but I didn’t feel like anything was missing since I didn’t read the first one. I feel like I skimmed over some of the military-ish plot because I was much more interested in the romance part.

This is a small town romance, with our main FMC Rory living in Alabama. She lives on a farm and runs a bar with her brother. There’s a strong theme of found family, especially since Rory’s parents died when she was young, and her fiancé left her for her best friend. She’s shut herself off from feeling again, afraid that she’d be hurt and that everyone would leave her. She also has diabetes, so she’s really adamant about being independent and not relying on anyone. She’s attracted to Chance, a member of an elite team who’s in the small town on assignment. Chance, too, faced a difficult past, but he’s much more ready to claim Rory than she is to claim him.

Honestly, loved both characters though Rory’s push and pull with Chance was sometime exasperating. Like, he is so down for her, and she just can’t trust him even when he proves it. The ending was also a bit abrupt for me. We get to see the mystery being solved, but I think I wanted to see more or Chance and Rory in the future. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series!

Rory is the boss level girlie we all want to be and Chance is the BBF we all want to ride in and annoy the ever-loving heck out of us whilst trying to protect us from our stubborn selves, lol!

Chance and Rory didn't always tear at each other, throwing insults left and right. In fact, for a few weeks they were anything but enemies. But Rory made her decision to split, always having the memory of that betrayal of her ex in the back of her mind. Now there is a possibility danger is circling and Chance is in alpha protective mode. Which will only get worse when he realises that Rory has a little passenger along for the ride!

These two fight, insult and slander each other in great enemies-to-lovers fashion but the chemistry is just way too hot for them to deny for long. But Rory has some emotional baggage and health worries that she can't leave behind and Chance had a bit of trauma in his childhood too, so nothing will be plain sailing for them! As usual our Ghost ops guys rally around our MC's - although Ghosts reaction was freaking hysterical!!! That man missed his calling - what a drama queen, lol.

Sabotage, shooting, plumbing accidents - they all add danger to the situation and they really complemented each other well and helped keep the story interesting and moving at a good pace.

I’ve been a fan of Lynn Raye Harris’s HOT series books since 2013. I’ve followed the series avidly (possibly rabidly??) ever since. She cemented herself early on in my discovery of ebooks as a romantic suspense author whose writing style and voice I really enjoy. IMHO, you can pick any of her books to read and not be disappointed by any story she’s written. She’s been at the top of my favorite romantic suspense authors list for many years now for a good reason. Lynn Raye Harris consistently delivers characters with depth, bravery, loyalty, and heart, which more than holds true with this new spinoff debut.

Chance and Rory’s story started with a bang in the previous book, but it’s not necessary to read that one first to understand the full gist of their relationship in this one. However, I do recommend reading both books in order because they are just that good. Their story is sweet, suspenseful, and intriguing—so much so that it was hard to put it aside when the duties of real-life came calling. The premise of Ghost Ops is so compelling that I can hardly contain my excitement for the rest of the series. I'm already well and fully hooked and thoroughly enjoying the reading experience, eagerly anticipating what’s sure to be a thrilling conclusion!

Aurora Harper was engaged until her fiance ran off with her bridesmaid. Now she guards her heart like Fort Knox. Then she and her best friend are kidnapped and the HOT operators save them. Chance Hughes is a player. He has no family and no ties which makes him a perfect candidate for the HOT team. Rory and Chance spent two weeks together until Rory kicked him to the curb. Chance was infatuated with her but leaves her alone until someone is snooping around her property. Chance stays the night and finds a pregnancy test in the garbage. Rory is expecting his baby and there is no way he’s leaving her alone. Someone starts messing with her farm and their bar, but Chance and the team help them fix things back. Rory is about to have a rude awakening because Chance is going to be in his baby’s life and hopefully Rory’s too, if he can tear down the walls around her heart.
I loved this book! I love Rory she is strong and independent and she doesn’t take crap from anyone. Chance is protective and handsome. You will fall in love with this couple. Couldn’t put it down. Action and sexy times. Enemies to lovers.

There’s never really been a book of hers I didn’t like and this is no different. I liked it. It was fun and enjoyable. I liked seeing all the Ghost Ops guys interact (it’s really easy to lose track of whose who in groups and I have to say, that never seems to happen in her books, even more surprising because they all have two names.)

I will say, this book was more focused on the plot than it was the romance, whether that be the plot surrounding Rory or the overall series plot, it definitely took the forefront.

Which is fine but… IDK I wanted more romance. I feel like Rory really held out too long when it came to Chance. Almost like she was clinging to excuses even she knew were flimsy. I thought I would like that Chance knew early on that he was in love with Rory but… IDK it felt more like he was wearing her down than making her fall for him.

I really liked some of the future set ups (IDK when Kane and Daphne’s book is but it will be EPIC when it comes 🤣) And I really liked that we’re starting to see some real action on the mission.

The series really is shaping up nicely, and I enjoyed this book, but it wasn’t one of my favorites by her.

These two have been oil and water from their first meet, but after Chance saves Rory’s life and looks after her while she recovers, the two have an amazing couple of weeks where their sparks turn into fireworks…until Rory’s insecurities come back and she builds up her walls around her heart and kicks him out. Now months later she finds out that she is pregnant. As soon as Chance finds out, all bets are off, especially when he learns that someone was on her property sneaking around and has a run in with a developer. His alpha protectiveness comes out and will be there for her….no matter what she says or does. The close proximity has her desires flaring up and with Chance being all nice and sweet, looking out for her, her walls start to crumble…but will it be enough to let him fully in.
A great read with steam, suspense, great characters and banter between these two that was spot on and had me chuckling out loud. I loved Chance, protective, kind and proves to Rory that he can be trusted.
The story flowed nicely that didn’t skip a beat and I can’t wait for the next one.

I loved getting to see Chance and Rory find love together. Rory is tenaciously independent and extremely protective of her heart after she discovers her ex-fiancé cheated on her with a friend/bridesmaid just three weeks before their wedding. She is incredibly sassy and unwilling to let an opportunity to heckle Chance go by.

Chance is still attracted to the feisty spitfire after their two week fling even though she showed him the door. I loved how protective the alpha warrior is with her and her safety. When he learns he’s going to be a daddy and his woman and child are in danger his protective nature is off the charts.

The Ghost OPs mission in Sutton Creek may not have as many opportunities for the Operators to go to battle, but their mission is still intriguing and secret. Their interactions with the locals is entertaining.

I really enjoyed this book. The story captured and kept my attention well. The emotions flow freely, and the sparks fly between the characters. You can expect plenty of feels, swoon and emotion.

I received a free ARC from the author; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Aurora/Rory & Chance /Wraith is a romance about healing broke heart & trust from past betrayal. Rory not only has a condition that controls her life but her heart & bestie Emma channing give him a chance !! I need to read Blaze & Emma story because they are ADORABLE they were team Chance & Rory from day one and let's just say they had to fight for their love too. We get recaps what happened in their love story and I want to know ALL OF IT now

" “I expect to see stars, Chancey Pants. If I don’t, then you don’t get another shot.” Before he could tell her she was going to see the entire fucking universe before he was done, she slammed her mouth into his and thrust her tongue between his lips. Game on." "

Chance is a special op soildet for Ghost. Leader Ghost is very funny when he banged his head on the table because he lost a another man to the "Love bug" oh boy I can not wait for Ghost to get bitten

"They were ghosts because they had to be, and they were expendable if the mission went wrong. They all knew it, all signed up for it."

Brilliant banter, Love, life is a surpise and suspense from someone that after her farm's land...no spoilers

Chance and Rory are a great couple! I loved watching their relationship grow from frenemies to real, genuine love. The attraction was there from the start, but their hang-ups kept getting in the way—especially with Rory, who didn’t feel like she deserved his love or attention. I appreciated how Chance handled it all. He was so patient, and always protective, and you could tell he was committed to showing her how much he cared.

When the action picked up, their whole dynamic shifted, which I thought was awesome! Rory had to let her guard down a little, but she still kept that resilience I loved about her. Seeing a tough-as-nails special operator and his lady love finally get on the same page—even with danger lurking—was everything! This book was full of page-turning moments, a few twists, and the kind of romance that keeps you hooked. I loved that blend of real-life struggles with hot romance.

Lynn Raye Harris’s books are always so action-packed and addictive, and this one didn’t disappoint! I definitely recommend it—along with the first book in the series. Until next time … Happy Reading!

I normally don't like enemies to lovers books. I liked Chance and Rory's story because their "dislike" didn't carry through the entire book. Rory had a reason for putting her walls up, but I could see them gradually crumbling the more she was around Chance.

Chance had his own baggage, but once he found that plastic stick, he was able to give in to what he really wanted to do. He could provide his unwavering support to Rory. I liked the way their chemistry blossomed into something stronger and more intense. I enjoyed their banter.

I was impressed by the way the bad guys came across so menacing. There was a nice amount of suspense as I waited for that other shoe to drop. The way Chance and the guys were so supportive of one another as well as Rory and Theo was awesome. I was also intrigued by the tech Seth was using on the job the guys were involved with at the Research Lab.

I am glad Chance and Rory got their HEA and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This story is amazing!
Chance is the second story in the Ghost Ops series, and it was amazing! Chance and Rory have always rubbed each other the wrong way and love to throw barbs at each other. Then when Rory is kidnapped by Emma’s stalker, all bets are off for Chance then. He rescues her and then spends a glorious 2 weeks with her and starts to fall for her. Unfortunately, Rory has some major trust issues due to a crappy ex-fiancé and she kicks Chance to the curb. Then poor Rory and Theo have a series of bad things happening to them and their business and when Chance finds out what is going on, that man steps up to the plate and firmly puts himself in front of Rory to protect her. I love how that man truly learns what makes Rory tick and won’t let her hide from him. He was made for Rory and in turn, she is perfect for Chance. I loved the banter between these two and the nicknames that they come up with for each other. This story was truly amazing and I’m so ready for the next one in the series.

Chance is the second book in the Ghost Ops series, a spin-off of the HOT series. It was an amazing book, and I was tugged into the story from the beginning. I couldn’t put the book down until I finished. It was easy to read, full of intrigue, and the plot and main characters were developed. The side characters were charming and so easy to fall in love with.
Former HOT member, Chance “Wrath” Hughes and his team were on a mission that was top secret. The team didn’t even know what it was, all they knew was they had to move to a small town in Alabama and stay under the radar.
Aurora “Rory” Harper’s heart was broken when her ex-fiancé left her for her bridesmaid three weeks before the wedding. After that she refused to let anyone close enough to break her heart again, especially a playboy like Chance.
This was another great book, and I loved seeing the Ghost Ops team again. The book was straightforward and it leads us right into the next book in the series.
I received an ARC, and I am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

We’re back in the land of Ghost Ops. This time we are following Chance and Rory. I thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth that the characters had in the first book, Blaze, and we were right into it in their book. The banter was so much fun. Their initial fling is off page between the two books, but I thought it was a great way to build up the tension between them again.

I appreciated going into this knowing there was a ‘secret baby’, it can be a turn off for some readers, but I liked how this was written and that Chance found out quite early in the story. I liked that both characters had things in their past that made them hesitant to open up to each other, but one of the things I enjoy about Harris’ writing is that her character are willing to talk, work through things (even though sometimes it takes them a little to get there). And honestly, there is nothing like a little baby induced, forced proximity to get the ball rolling!

Looking forward to reading the next book, bring it on Seth!

Lynn Rate Harris you’ve done it again. I couldn't put this book down.
I’m a fan of all the HOT books and that includes the Ghost Ops.
Chance is the second book in the Ghost Ops series
I really love this series and the characters!
These team was chosen for their “ non-family commitment and they are tumbling like flies 🥳
Chancy pants are absolutely adorable, gorgeous and lethal. I would not mind joining him .
Book 2 is Rory and Chance's story. I loved that Rory was independent and determined even with her health issues, and Chance was enough of a man to let her be herself , BUT I loved Chance from the start , Rory however worked on my nerves. She was just so mean to Chance and that without reason, it took me time to soften towards her and I admired Chance for taking her nonsense .
I’ve once again read book 1, then Chance and need to say , I can’t wait for book 3 , I love this “ family “ already so much
This is a recommended series and a must read .
Poor Ghost 😁
Thank you , Lynn , you’re awesome

Chance & Rory

Opposites definitely do attract and sparks fly whenever these two are anywhere near each other.

Chance & Rory are constantly at odds with each other. They enjoy bickering about everything and anything, but specifically, about football teams.

“The lady doth protest too much, methinks” could apply to both Chance and Rory in regards to their mutual attraction or lack of. Things get complicated with a situation concerning Emma. Rory and Chance became real close for a little bit, but then it wasn’t. Enter a current situation of Rory learning she is pregnant as a result of their brief encounter. Chance is determined to be present and help as much as Rory will let him.

Mayhem ensues and things get pretty sticky from here on out. I love how this all develops and the interaction Chase & Rory experience that has both serious life stuff and humor. I don’t want to divulge any more spoilers because this book is so good, the reader needs to enjoy it all for the first time and savor the journey that is Chance & Rory. Can’t wait for more! Love this!

If you lurve that surprise pregnancy trope, you'll love this ridiculous book. If not, maybe move to the next one in the series.

Such a good writer. The plots she creates are slow and pretty simple, but the writing is good. But this is one really slow, pretty boring, standard kind of "girl in jeopardy" tale. The FMC is a templated angry girl, always mad because her last boyfriend cheated on her and left her right before their wedding. Oh, and she had a crappy childhood. I couldn't get into her and didn't care about her character.

The MMC was equally standard. Bad childhood, promiscuous, big flirt, afraid of committment, blah blah blah. There wasn't anything compelling about him, either.

The first book was pretty standard in similar ways, but the writing was good so I continued reading the series. I'm not sure about the rest. I want to know what the tropes are before reading another one. I don't want to read about any virgins, pregnant chicks, female doormats, or other stereotyped "girls." The females are supposed to be in their 30s, and I would hope they'd act like that. Maybe?

Chance and Rory❤️‍🩹

Chance is a part of the Ghost Ops Team that has been sent on a convert mission to save a project that is being undertaken close to Sutton’s Creek. Rory, the Dawg bartender, intrigues Chance and when he rescues her with his team at the end of Blaze…one thing leads to another😉

Suffice to say Rory shows him the door after their brief affair, through no fault of his own, and now a pregnancy test shows she’s pregnant🙈 When danger shows on her doorstep, Chance is the first person to step up…considering he still wants Rory, even if she doesn’t want him…or so she says🤷‍♀️ How will she reveal the truth to him and will he be able to keep her safe from the danger surrounding her?

A fantastic story that I really enjoyed❣️I’m excited to learn more about Seth and the woman who he will call his….especially after that drama filled introduction😳 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review😍

What not to love about taking a chance on the Ghost Ops in Chance by Lynn Raye Harris. Top secret missions while trying to blend in and look just like everyone else in this small town is just about impossible for these guys. Chance has a reputation which even in small towns some guys have so he doesn’t stand out any more than the others because of it.

This story with a hug surprise is not so much “enemies to lovers” as it is learning to trust another which is something that Chance and Aurora Harper both need to do. Sometimes lust is just that, sometimes it becomes more. However, it begins with these two, Chance does care and shows that by being a true support and a protector. The danger is throughout the story making this an edge of the seat story besides an exasperating at times love story. Aurora needed to look at actions not rumors concerning Chance. Sometime woman can be as clueless as the men which Aurora clearly shows. I was pulling for Chance all the way.

Six men with a top-secret mission move to a small town where they have to navigate local life, protect their secret, and, above all, stay single.
This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Chance and Rory’s story.
Chance has a tragic childhood and does not believe in love, while Rory is fiercely independent and used to doing things on her own, but he has certainly met his match with her. When Rory’s in danger, and her home and business is being sabotaged, Chance will do whatever he must to keep her safe and protected.
This is a well written easy to read, action packed, emotional story, with danger, suspense, intrigue, secrets, trust, enemies / lovers, forced proximity, humor, witty banter, surprise pregnancy, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to a spicy, and entertaining, small town romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

More from the Ghost Ops crew!

Welcome back to Alabama and the Ghost Ops crew is still busy at work. Though they are still working hard to stop the threat to national security, as they always do, there is a bigger threat close to home this time. Rory has already been dragged into some recent danger, though not directed at her. Now, she, and her brother, are being messed with, and Chance isn’t letting anyone mess with the woman he is falling for. Of course, they also have some new connections they didn’t before, and this means they each need to learn to get along and have a good relationship, even if there is no repeat of the 2 weeks they spent tied up in one another. As usual, fans will have danger and suspense lurking while enjoying the playful banter between Rory and Chance. Another story that will pull readers in from start to finish! Cannot wait for more from this series when Seth’s story arrives next.

Oh my goodness!!!! That is not how I usually start a review, but this book was just SO good! I enjoyed book one of the series, but this book was a lot better (maybe because we have already been introduced to this world). This book is about team member Chance (chancey-pants) and Aurora, who owns a bar in town with her brother and almost died during the first book of the series. I don't want to give too much away so I will just say that the book follows Chance and Aurora as they deal with people after her land and another surprise from their time together.

I also really appreciated how the author dealt with the heroine having type 1 diabetes in this book. She appeared to explain it well, including the intricacies of calculating carbs for each meal (even with an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor). All in all, highly recommend!

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book. This is my true and honest opinion.
