Much like previous volumes it is mostly about a cosy life in the wilderness together with a bunch of friends interspersed with some crafting this time in winter. Unlike other volumes this feels a bit more like a bunch of shorter stories with no longer plot except near the end which starts the next arc. It is not a cliff hanger ending, but things are certainly setup for a next book. As always, great characters, with some fun interaction.

There are a few more negatives than usual though even though nothing major. I do find the whole idea of calling your pets (let alone an intelligent fairy) your "daughters" a bit cringe, and yes, I feel that same way when people do so in R and it is done rather lot this time. The whole thing with the new fairy felt rather rushed and out of place (especially with how quickly she is gone again), but the author admits in the afterword mentions he was trying to add her for some time now but could not find the right spot. Finally, the sudden paranoia feels a bit off. It took 10 volumes and a whole year before considering doing more about defences? And building traps? Considering all the trouble I would have expected such behavior earlier, now it just feels a bit out of place.

All in all, still a good entertaining read.

I feel that I have given this series plenty of chances to go somewhere and it’s just not. A boring MC in boring relationships leading a life that is a series of non-events. Only Eizo would decide after getting 10 years of his youth back to live as if he is even older. Also, am I the only one extremely annoyed that he refers to the animals as his daughters on every other page? I feel once is more than enough to get the sentiment across and never bring up again. Regardless, I can’t justify putting any more time into this.

downward trend continues

This book continues the decline of this story line and the devolution of the writing.
Couldn’t find a plot other than rehashing already established storylines.
Definitely not worth the purchase price.
