Tori Hartman is a world renowned psychic, author and spiritual teacher. She is the only psychic ever interviewed by The New York Times and L.A. Business Journal for her work in business and conscious expansion. As the author of the Chakra Wisdom Oracle deck (scheduled to release June 2014 via Watkins Publishing UK),Tori continues to promote what has always been the key to her success; The spiritual empowerment, healing and education of people. She believes that in order to heal and manifest our heart's desires we need to incorporate our family legacy to find our soul's purpose and to live with a deep sense of belonging.
Born and raised in New York's Greenwich Village during the 1960s, the environment in "The Village" at the time was anything goes, and little if any self-expression was questioned. Her creativity included love beads, astrology and the Beatnik scene at the White Tavern.
At the age of eight, Tori's parents discovered her psychic abilities. Her mother was a playwright and gifted astrologer, her father was a World War II Veteran and actor. While her mother understood and supported the gift, ultimately, alcoholism blocked the spiritual connection that Tori and her mother might have shared. In 1976 when Tori was a teen, her mother died of alcoholism. It would take more than 25 years to piece together the damaging mosaic that her mother left behind.
When thinking about her deeply troubled mom, Tori says, "life taught me that the deep wounds inflicted upon some of us as children are Spirit's way of leaving us open to receive messages. We are given the gift of wounds to assist others in their healing."
For over a decade now Tori Hartman has been promoting the empowerment of individuals
I was ready to start a journey, an adventure that has me peering into my past, promising to heighten my intuition, and change my life. I have heard about chakra but I just never knew what it all entailed until I opened the pages of this toolkit and from those beginning pages, Tori had everything laid out for me. Tori explains the seven colors of the chakra, what they represent and how they will relate to my thinking in this 52-week journey. She outlines how to use the book with a Monday through Friday timeline before she begins the self-discovery journey with me. She also adds personal reflections about adapting the daily activities to fit my needs so I didn’t feel bad if I had to skip a day or if some days my exercises take longer, this book is all about me, Tori is just my guide. There are no activities on the weekends; Tori’s rational being that this is the time everything I worked on during the week will come together. I didn’t look at the 49 free cards that can help speed-up my progress, they are on her website, and again they’re free. I have been on this journey for three weeks now and my favorite part is the Monday fables. I actually look forward to Monday’s unique fable which doesn’t take that long to read but it sets the stage for what I am supposed to be thinking about for the week. There have been times when I get busy and I don’t get to one of the other days of the week and that’s okay, I don’t fret over it, I just pick it up the next day or I do double the day before. It’s a journey, something that is supposed to be comforting and enlightening to me. The other days of the week I do a day of journaling, a day of connecting the theme to other people, a day of mediation and a day reflection. Some of the activities, I have struggled with but I have tried them knowing that this is journey, some days I will not know what to do. Tori’s does not leave me hanging; she is there with her words and her ideas to keep me focused and moving me forward. I was hesitant at first, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, and I just knew I wanted to try chakra and I didn’t want to go to some classes as I knew the minute I walked out the door I would forget everything the instructor said. Having this book gives me something to have and to look back upon. I like having it on my Kindle so I can open it daily for as little as 10 minutes a day for my own time, keeping it in my “daily” tab is a constant reminder that I need to do it. I will be buying a copy of this book. It is a wonderful tool! I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and Watkins Publishing.
I received a free advance review copy of the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Toolkit: A 52-Week Journey of Self-Discovery with the Lost Fables from Watkins Publishing Limited through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
My opinion on the strength of this toolkit:
I found this toolkit to be extremely accurate in setting the intention for the week; there were occurrences that coincided so strongly with the themes laid out for certain weeks that I found their unfolding rather extraordinary. In using these cards, you too will notice that the card presented for any given week will energetically correspond to the events that are manifesting in your life. Aside from its efficacy in creating a weekly intention for the user, I found this toolkit to be especially helpful in that it was created with an awareness of the busy lives that people lead. I appreciate that Hartman created exercises that were short and sweet, which makes them fun to complete even when one does not have much time on their hands. I found myself doing some of these exercises while riding the bus or walking down the street, for the majority of them are questions upon which you can casually reflect on throughout the day. Even if you cannot commit to the daily exercises, mere attention to the card of the week will be helpful in becoming aware of the energetic shifts taking place in your life.
How this toolkit could have been improved:
Though I highly enjoyed this toolkit, I would have enjoyed it even more if I had the option to digitally record my journal entries/reflections in it as I progressed forward. I used this toolkit on the Kindle app, and I do believe that it would have been possible to somehow insert spaces into which readers could type their responses and then save them. This way, flipping through the toolkit would allow one to easily keep track of their work and view it at a later point in time.
I am still going through this book. I thought I will go week by week but no! My growth is different and certain aspects of my chakras required more time to be embraced, coming upfront, understood and healed. I love this book and it's truly unique and different. It's not healing your chakra but it asks you all these questions that leave you thinking and talking with your self/soul. I love this book and I recommend it to anyone having interest in spiritual growth
Absolutely loved this book as I have read them many times, this has to be the first one I have actually bought, it centers on the chakras, fables association with each one, yet it is a brilliant tool for opening up your intuition more stronger, removing blockages in your life and so much more. The guided meditation is something you really have to experience, quite amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I am finding this book very interesting. It really makes you go inside to find the answers that you seek. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to work through the chakra system. You have to be prepared to delve into your own psyche to unravel the truth that will set you free of constricting life patterns. To move forward in life you first have to be prepared to look in the mirror.
A great tool to aid those on a personal journey of self-discovery and well-being. There were a lot of opportunities for learning, self-reflection and healing. I ended up setting a journal specifically to along with exercises/tasks in this book and I found that to be immensely helpful. This book is very beginner friendly and I feel like I gained a lot of knowledge and perspective not just about chakras but also about myself and how I process things and what helps me work through emotionally heavy stuff.
I think this book will be of particular interest for those interested in mindfulness, manifestation and self-development. I haven't tried the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Cards but am tempted to.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Watkins Publishing Limited for gifting me a digitial copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Interesting. Have read several books about chakras and sometimes find them a bit ... pretentious? too earnest? Not sure, but they don't inspire me. This one was different, and I like the 52-week idea. It's good with this kind of topic to break it up into sections, so the reader does not get overwhelmed (for those new to chakras etc at least). Every day has some small exercise, and so far is beneficial. The only downside for me is that the illustrations are not very good, but they are easy to overlook and do not really add anything.
Review of a preview digital copy from the publisher.
I wanted to try this because I thought it would be fun. I didn't find it fun or helpful. Of the 52 Fables I only enjoyed 3, I also thought lost meant that these were traditional fables, but instead I think the author just wrote them. The solo exercises frequently involved other people which I don't think qualifies as solo. There was a lot of cliche phrases, and it felt repetitive. I also have memory loss and a lot of it was about remembering my past. I think there are better ways of balancing or working with one's Chakras than this toolkit.
This is more than a toolkit, its a 52 week programme for working with your chakras to heal and learn. The Author uses fables to teach seven aspects of each of the basic seven chakras. This is seven weeks for each of the chakras. Can you imagine the depth of knowledge, change and growth that is possible? There are activities for each fable broken down into a portion for each weekday. So one day you will read the fable, next might be a meditation or a journal entry. You can work through the book solo or within a group. There are group exercises offered to work with.
Each fable has an appropriate colour picture. These can also be purchased as an oracle card set to use either with the book or independently.
I would recommend this toolkit for anyone learning and using their chakra system through any healing practice. This is a beneficial toolkit to be working through consistently as you go about your other practices. You will benefit from the deeper work you do through this kit. Even though you may have done chakra healing work through yoga, reiki, crystal or other work this kit gives you the opportunity of focusing on just one chakra at a time. That means that any deeper issues which have escaped your other work will tend to be cleaned up through this deeper focus of work.
So the work itself is written in simple terms. The language and tone of the fables are lovely and easy to read but still descriptive and flowing. The instructions for the day are straightforward and easy to follow. After reading the fable, the Author takes you through the story, the meanings and the lesson, finishing by telling you exactly what the fable is about. So the fable of a rose without thorns is ultimately about solidly trusting the universal consciousness and your intuitive self to build relationships that empower you. Next she guides you through setting your intention for the week, by assessing your own foundations and what you want from your relationships.
Each day takes between 15 and 30 minutes depending on how much time you assign to the work. Each day is only 1 or 2 pages of the book, which means you can easily slot it into some me time daily.

The subtitle of the book is a 52-week journey of self-discovery with the lost fables
Week 1: Out of the Darkness and into the Light Weeks 2-8: The Red Chakra Weeks 9-15: The Orange Chakra Weeks 16-22: The Yellow Chakra Week 23: From the Lower to the Higher Chakras Weeks 24-30: The Green Chakra Weeks 31-37: The Blue Chakra Weeks 38-44: The Purple Chakra Weeks 45-51: The Neutral Chakra Week 52: Conclusion
This tool kit is a companion to the book How to Read the Cards for Yourself and Others (Chakra Wisdom Oracle) along with the Chakra Wisdom Oracle cards associated with them. The artwork is amazing.
The book goes into detail for each fable associated with an Oracle card for a deeper meaning. Each fable has three aspects: darkness, dawn and light. She recommends keeping a journal for your work with the Oracle system and a meditation at the end of the week.
There are seven cards for each chakra category. For example, I pull three cards: Bittersweet (blue), Complacency (red), and Recovery (purple).
Tori gives instructions on how to use the toolkit. She recommends a different action for each weekday. There is also an overview of the chakra system with a color map showing the location for all the chakras and the focus for each.
