I just recently finished the show which is why you will now see me catching up on the manga.

I love so many of these characters very dearly and thrilled to see where we are going next for the Dark Continent Expedition arc.

Kurapika side story (not animated yet which is why I am commenting on it):
Smol Kurapika fight. He protect.
Truly a tragedy what happened.
side note: the big dodo birds were everything

I recently finished the anime, which was an unparalleled experience itself, so this is me trying to manage my grief. I can't believe there's only two volumes left til I'm caught up...

I'm not going to lie, this volume kind of bored me. Also, two chapters in this volume featured some painfully bad and subpar art that almost had me DNFing this.

This volume wraps the chemira ant arc and the Zodiya/saving Gon arc.

I have to say this is my fav arc in Hunter, i don't know how Togashi will top this, i mean:
1. we finally see Gon's Dad and his character
2. Netero sensei *sobs*
3. MERUEM SAMA AND KOMUGI I MEAN MY HEART *heart aches*
4. NANIKA AND ALLUKA AND ZODIYAK FAMILY SECRETS

the ten chapters covered the election and voting for the next chairmen, the tension was really high that i didnt even know who will win, specially when Leorio was selected, also when Ging-san said to cheadle that Pariston doesn't want to win or lose, this where i knew that things will be more than just a hunter next-chairment selection, I cannot see how Togahsi will top this arc, but nevertheless i expect good things since the manga is NOT LIKE ANY SHOUNEN MANGA, its a LEGENDARY-ious one.

plus i was mesmorized and curious about the whole zodiyak family inside-mission that i need MORE!!! and Killua is TOO PRECIOUS FOR THIS WORLD OMG !!

all in all;
will continue reading online haha. i hope togashi gets better and update faster.

13th Hunter Chairman Election arc [End]
The Hunter Association elections are just as reliable as any election in our world...
Ging and Gon.. at this point, I don't really care that much.
Killua's growth is everything. Still, I won't be satisfied until Illumi gets punched in the face.

Why? Just why? Why would you do that? Why would you do any of that?

What was the need to insert a rebirth angle? It tarnished the entire impact of the arc.

Oh well, we got to know about the world beyond and Leorio punched Ging, which was the most satisfying moment of the volume.

This Volume wraps up the Chimera Arc,Gon resurrection and Gin and Gon's reunion. If you ever watch the entire 2011 Hunter X Hunter series and what to read in, this is the where you should start(or maybe just start at 33).

This is also the pitstop of Gon and Killua adventure.

*insert that good intro they have*
description

We get to see them grow and develop. If you think about it most of the entire current series is base on their adventure so I understand Togashi's decision to leave them out on the journey to the secret continent and give the other characters their shine to the spotlight and that includes Gin.

So. Much. Talking.

Too much talking.

And having half a chapter without any dialogue does not work to cancel out the massive word spam in previous chapters.

Also, who were some of those people in that silent chapter? I didn't recognize them, and it's not like I had to wait for volumes to come out.

I liked this series at the start, but I've had to struggle through chunks of this series ever since. Now that it seems to be on some kind of hiatus, I think I'm just going to stop. I might go back to it in the future, but I really, really need a break.

4.5 / 5

So, with this volume we have an immensely confusing and convoluted ending to the chairman election, the revival (so to speak) of Gon, and the introduction of a new story arc with something called the "Dark Continent" which, is essentially everything beyond the "map of the current world" - at least according to what Ging said. I'm intrigued by what this means, and also rather concerned as to what lies beyond the map if not even double or triple star hunters are allowed to freely go there... what kind of calamities have happened in the past to lead to this? o.O

WOW.

I picked up the manga after watching the third season of Hunter x Hunter, and I was pleasantly surprised to see how faithfully the anime follows it.

I’m still in awe of how Yoshihiro Togashi develops his characters with such depth and cleverness. One chapter that really stood out to me was Confession—it’s so beautifully written, it left me questioning my own existence. I won’t spoil anything, but the way he wrapped up certain story arcs was nothing short of masterful. I honestly don’t know how he could possibly top this. What a masterpiece!

This does feel like the end of HxH. Gon is back, he gets to meet Ging, Killua has family and friends he cares for. These two have been the protagonists of HxH so far and this is... basically a resolution for them? Which is great. Maybe they've got more to do, maybe there's something else in store, but if I hear correctly this is where the 2011 anime stopped and... yeah, this is as good of a stopping point as any.

We do have to talk about the art though- I'm surprised Togashi is alive. Half of this volume looked like scraps and storyboards instead of actual art. Making manga is a gruelling and nearly inhumane practice, thankfully even when the art isn't finished the story holds up.

The election was fine, had some neat moments but I don't really care. The start of the next arc could be fun, but I'm not holding my breath. I give this book a 5/5, not that it deserves a 'perfect' rating but seeing those couple of chapters with Gon and Ging, and the 'epilogue' afterwards of Gon's adventures, makes this worth it. Despite the art, despite some of the other story elements, the parts worth keeping are peak shonen manga at some of the best it could ever be.

Quiero decir que Killua es mi corazón en esta historia, mi hijo. Tocalo y no respondo.

Killua and Gon parting ways always felt so bittersweet for me. Well, I guess they now have to do their own things. Just like what they planned when they visited Gon's home, Killua will be tagging along until he learned what he really wanted and needed to do in his life. And now that he has Alluka and he swore to protect his younger sister at all cost, he now has his own thing to do. I really do hope they would meet again soon and do their things together again.

And the Election arc has now ended. This is where the anime ended as well. So from this point on, this would be my first time knowing anything after this volume. Looks like we will not hear from either Gon and Killua for a long while. I think it's now time for Kurapika and Leorio to shine.

I feel like he could have ended the story here low key. Sure he had some loose ends, but he could have wrapped them up and instead he added the dark continent and introduced Beyond Netero.
But the still scenes of everything that had happened and the fall out was a decent wrap and Gon met and talked to his dad. But oh well. Onward.

I'm continuing on from where the anime ends. The art is kinda bland in comparison looks like some b-tier shonen jump. I'll try and stick with it.
