Wow, I'm just too shocked even though most of it was already announced in the previous volume. I thought only one character will leave at the end, but that wasn't the case.
Normally a reader or watcher would shed a tear when their favourite character died. It's tragic, it makes one feel empty inside. But what happens when that favourite character doesn't die but actually abandones the reader or watcher? One might argue, saying that it's not that a big deal. ‘They are still alive, be happy about it!’, right? No. A character leaving, never returning despite being able to stay is worse. The decision lays with the character. They want to leave themselves. They chose to leave. That gives that certain feeling to a reader or watcher which is worse than a favourite character to die. It feels like your favourite character packs its stuff, not bothering to deal with you any longer. At the same time, it shows how listless these characters feel, being defeated.
This was one of the most amazing special exams that I ever read so far for this series. It's more on the psychological side even if it appears quite the opposite at first. Not only reading but also seeing the illustrations of many characters falling into despair playing this game was so exciting. It made me both happy and sad at the same time, depending on which character felt defeated. There were some few moments were I felt a certain despair too, I didn't want them to give up. I wanted them to keep fighting, no matter what. The worst was to see how my favourite character slowly fell into the same despair. How my favourite character realised that they were not wanted, not good enough. Seeing how that favourite character lost all will to fight was so hard to read for me. I praised that character for having so much willpower and having a clear goal in sight, but that completely changed over the course of this special exam. It was horrific, I was panicking. Not only was I frustrated but also mad. I didn't want this to end like this. At that moment I felt like these students who got expelled and started screaming 'cause they couldn't believe it, they didn't want this to end like this.
I was right to feel anticipated for this volume as the last volume in each year never disappoints. Unfortunately it came with a great loss, but without it the special exam wouldn't have been that interesting. If it wouldn't have been about the battle between Ryueen vs Sakayanagi, I wouldn't have been so hooked from start to finish. What made it even more amazing was that the battle between Ryueen vs Sakayanagi wasn't the only one (though they were the only one with the agreement that the loser drops out of school).
Now I'm interested to see how the remaining party will improve their skills before they have their re-match with Ayanokouji and if Horikita and Ichinose go back to their old self or grow stronger from their experience. Of course I will read the extra volume too, so let's see how this one turns out to be. Perhaps Ayanokouji will transfer classes after all?
This volume was very interesting. A lot happened. Maezono got expelled. And the vager with sakayanagi and ryueen was tense. We thought ryueen has no chance at the end. But ayanokoji layed a message through hashimoto and Arisu lost on purpose. That seems kinda crazy to me as im not sure why she willingly done so but i guess she has no attachment to this school as she said before and is too fond od Ayanokoji and his ideas. So our beloved Arisu Sakayanagi is also expelled. That is kinda sad because I really really like sakayanagi as a character but im guessing kinugasa wants to focus more on ichinose, horikita and ryueen growth and ayano ultimately transfering classes. So instead of getting held by Sakayanagis expulsion im excited on what happens next. And i know the next volume is crazy. Also it was really nice to see ayanokoji comfort Horikita. But to me it kinda looks like he is sowing seeds to seek out allies and rely on others because he will leave the class. And the matter with Ichinose seems kinda crazy. "you were just used by me". I wonder what her reaction will be because we havent really seen it. Anyway big things will happen next and then we already go to the third year which is exciting but i also think it moves a bit too quickly. but now that I have almost caught up it will be slower. unfortunately much slower.

Wow this book was one of the most intense books by far who would've thought that the loser was actually gonna be Sakayanogi? Though Ryuuen was cornered and Class A was in the lead I never thought she would fall for some words from Ayanakoji. This battle was a rollercoaster of emotions and I loved it part by part and since we're now entering towards the 3rd year after 12.5 things are gonna get really interesting I'm personally hoping for alot more Koenji lore and Ayanakoji to eventually pursue one of the many love interests since it's been pretty hinted that him and Kei won't be on good terms much longer, but anyways great battle great writing and great ending though I'm sad to see her go since she was definetely the best rival in my opinion I can't wait to see how Ryuuen is gonna try and face Ayanakoji since his odds of winning are pretty low.

2nd year final exam time. The explanation of the exam was ridiculously convoluted, but ultimately it didn’t really matter as the real takeaway from this volume is the interactions between the representatives. That being said I thought the conclusion to the Ryuuen/Sakayanagi battle was incredibly disappointing.
