Hearing God

Rate this book
When a father loves his children, he speaks words of affirmation and love to them. When a husband and wife love one another, they make sure to communicate with one another honestly and frequently. If God loves human beings as his children and treasures his relationship with them as a spouse would, would he not also speak to them frequently, with both love and honesty? In Hearing God, author Ben Dixon explores what it means to hear God speak to you personally, both through his written word, the Bible, and inwardly, through the voice of his Holy Spirit. From the riches of his personal experience and from the stories of others, Ben explores why God speaks to us, how to clearly hear God when he does speak, and what to do once you have heard him speak to you. This book will challenge you to build your relationship with God, to expect to hear him speak you personally, and to believe what he says and apply it to your life in real ways that will bring personal transformation.

This book is practical, concise, and easy to digest. The author doesn’t over complicate it. He provides great analogies for each biblical principle and gives personal testimonies on how he has walked this out in his own life. I would recommend to anyone who wants to start or go back to the basics.

A very practical understanding of what it means to hear God’s voice in our everyday lives through His Word and the Holy Spirit. It always has good insight on discerning the other voices outside of the Lord’s, and how we can proactively pursue God’s voice.

Amazing book done in a mens group. A focus on slowing down and hearing from God. How and where does He speak, what does He sound like, and knowing that sometimes He just wants to say “I love you and I’m proud of you.”

Hearing God is refreshing, inclusive, and applicable. Dixon dismantles the mystery behind the prophetic ministry in Christianity through the use of Biblically weighted Scriptural examples, Dixon's personal experiences in ministering prophetically, and participatory ministry which values every member of the Body of Christ. Dixon removes the superficial Hollywood like idolatrous worship of the prophetic, presents simplicity of methods for the church to replicate personally/corporately, and invites both new and veteran Christians to deepen their walks with Christ. Both the Christian and the skeptic will be confronted with the evidence of the continuation of the prophetic ministry. This book is a pivotal anchor in Christian literature and has produced countless fruit in multiple Christian denominations across the Christian spectrum. Glean the wisdom of this book and share it with your friends and family!

A help to every thinking person!

Ben Dixon lays out a logical, progressive study that takes any honest person into a realization of and plan for hearing and choosing to follow God's leading, His voice, His will. My wife and I are privileged to attend the church in which Pastor Ben often preaches as a staff member. He presented this book in a summer teaching series, and it has been wonderfully reinforcing to have both the print and the live input from him. But the book stands solidly alone as an invaluable aid to walking through a "tune-up" for being an effective child of God, furthering His kingdom, walking in His will.

I liked that this author used scripture to back up his points. He kept everything in context, used biblical and personal experiences, and made the lessons personable. It was easy to read, and the questions at the end of each chapter helped you contemplate what you read and make the lesson more personal. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to grow their relationship with God.
