Trent McAllister, ex-Navy SEAL, is a bounty hunter in hot pursuit of Mazy Washington's twin brother and soon finds himself stranded on Pleasure Island with a flock of ostriches and some zany naughty naked seniors. He's immediately attracted to drummer girl/ mechanic, Mazy, and the feeling is mutual. But with this couple's opposing missions in regards to Mazy's brother, their relationship is off to a rocky start.
Will Mazy's brother and father drive a wedge between her and Trent, or will Trent manage to bring the family together in a way that includes him?
If you enjoy romance with plenty and sizzle and giggle, this book is for you.
It is book two in the new Pleasure Island contemporary romance series. Book one is titled Low Tide Bikini and is currently available on Amazon. Book three, High Tide Bikini, will be released early summer of 2014.
Lyla Dune can and has fixed musical instruments with nothing more than paper clips and rubber bands moments before showtime. She's taught music, pitched her songs on Music Row in Nashville, been the only girl in a 17 piece big band (Glen Miller style- swing band), toured with a performance group that traveled from Florida to Montreal, Canada, and then she found a poetry forum online and her world changed forever. Ever since that first poem, she's become a word junkie. Most days that means a backspace junkie, but you get the idea. When a couple of immediate family members were seriously ill, she wanted to stay close to home and assist them as best she could. With gigging at a standstill, she spent her time reading and writing. She wrote a few poems and stories and decided to submit them to literary magazines. To her amazement, her first published story was accepted two hours after she'd submitted it. She was hooked. She increased the word count of her works from poem, to flash fiction, to short story length. Then, she decided to tackle the (dun, dun, DUN) Novel. When she hit "the end" of her first draft, she soon discovered, that's when the real writing begins. And, if a writer is lucky, that's when the magic happens. Revision = magic. She is thrilled to finally find a way to turn back time and say those one-liners she can never come up with until long after the "moment" has passed. She's living a writer's dream at the beach with her husband, Gary, who is her real life hero.
Whoa, another absolute corker from Lyla Dune. Freaking awesome. I've still got a smile on me face from having a good chuckle. I love Myrtle and Louise, I still want them to be my friends, and who'd of thunk of calling a pet pig 'Rooster', genius.
I love the quirkiness of all the supporting characters, who are all beautifully interwoven into the story without detracting from the main characters. This time it was the story of Mazy and Trent, and what a story it was. An absolute joy to read.
This series is shaping up as excellent chick-lit, and will be perfect holiday reads.
Another thing you all know by now I'm a Kindle Freebie Whore, but I paid good money for this book and it was worth every penny and then some. So get clicking over at Amazon, buy this book and put a smile on your face right now.

At the time of writing this review, from what I understand there was a problem with the upload to Amazon. A corrected version has been uploaded, so anyone who has already purchased it should get sent the revised copy automatically from Amazon.
I didn't want to wait for Amazon to send the revised version because I was desperate to read it. The issue with the upload resulted in two chapters having half of their chapters repeated. TBH this didn't detract from the story, as you were able to scroll through the two repeated bits quickly. There were a couple of typos, which I presume are not part of the revision, but they were minor and didn't affect the flow of the book at all. As you all know by now, I will deduct a star for typos that affect the flow of reading, so I was pleased not to have to do that for one of my favourite new authors.
After I read Low Tide Bikini (book #1), I immediately made a note to follow up on the future release of Rip Tide Bikini (book #2)! I was not disappointed. This book was as good as the first one - Lyla, you achieved your goal! Mazy was a kick-a**, independent type of girl who meets her match in Trent! Loved Trent - exactly what she needs. It was entertaining to watch their relationship grow-and I say entertaining because there are some hilarious scenes in this book. I liked that despite a rather tough family life, Mazy finds solace in playing music with her best girlfriends (the Bikini Quartet - great name for a band!) As for the ending - wow! Action-packed and not what I expected. The author tied up all the loose ends of the story in a natural way. Thank you, Lyla, for a great book - I am looking forward to Book #3 - High Tide Bikini!
Not as good as book 1. Absolutely ridiculous how quickly the protagonists fell in love. They didn't work for me as a couple. While he was obviously mature (Ex-Seal, 30 years old), she came across as immature. And the ending was wrapped up a little too neatly and too quickly.
Another tip of the hat to Lyla Dune on her follow up to Low Tide Bikini, Rip Tide Bikini. Fun and games, including a senior nude beach and a pet pig. Love her way of mixing angst and love and friendship and caring. Can't go wrong with a Lyla Dune book. Eagerly waiting book three. Added to my favorite author list.
This book is as good as, if not better than, the first. It is hard to believe that the author is new. The Bare Beach scene and after is hilarious. I laughed so hard it took me forever to read it. The geriatric set is at it again, but with good hearts. Highly recommended.
This stand alone book is a great follow up to the previous book. Mazy and Trents story is a combination of funny and heart warming from the start. Car chases, ostrich fight, super hero pig are just a few things you'll enjoy in this story.
Mazy's twin brother, Earl, is being chased by a bounty hunter for something he didn't do. Mazy is fiercely loyal to her brother because he is essentially the only family she has since her mother passed away and her father took off. Trent, the bounty hunter, has chased Earl to Pleasure Island. He then does damage to the island's ostrich farm following whom he thought was Earl but was really Mazy. Trent agrees to stay at the ostrich farm in lieu of facing charges for the damages. Trent's life is pretty stressful and really nothing more than being on the go all the time for the job, so Pleasure Island is a relaxing change of pace. Of course, the hot redhead, Mazy, is also a reason for him to stay. Mazy is conflicted about her attraction to Trent. She has the hots for him, but she is disappointed in herself because she feels like she is betraying her brother if she has anything to do with the bounty hunter that is chasing him.
Rip Tide Bikini is an entertaining read full of quirky characters, ostriches, and a pot belly pig named Rooster. A sexy massage, a provocative dance, and a sunburn down below will keep you both entertained and laughing. I really enjoy the mix of humor and heat that Lyla Dune weaves into her stories. Mazy and Trent are both well-developed characters, which makes it easy for readers to develop a connection with them. Myrtle and Louise, two of the "Naughty Naked Seniors," are hilarious and obviously care for Mazy very much. We also get to know Kendal quite a bit more in this book than we did in the first book of the series because her story is up next.
I will say this story could have used a little more proofreading. The name of the attack ostrich changed from Spike to Strike in a couple of places, and there were a few other things that were mainly typos. However, it did not detract from my enjoyment of this book. I recommend Rip Tide Bikini and this series to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance. If you are a fan of Jill Shalvis, Lyla Dune is right up your alley.
Lyla Dune does it again, knocking it out of the park with Rip Tide Bikini.
In the small town of Pleasure Island, NC, there are many characters. Like a true small town, you have every type of personality; friendly, independent, eccentric, humble, shy and brazen. All of Lyla Dune’s characters settle you in for the ride. Laugh out loud funny, sexy, steamy and a plot that keeps you guessing, this story has it all.
We have Trent McAllister, bounty hunter, former navy man and all around hottie. He has been sent to track Earl “the Squirrel” Washington, to bring him in for missing his court date. When Earl heads back to his home town, Trent doesn’t know what to expect. Whatever it was, it surely wasn’t Earl’s sister Mazy.
Mazy Washington, a cute, little red headed mechanic that would do anything to protect her brother, knows Trent’s bad news, but just can’t stay away.
I love the story, the writing style and the humor that Ms. Dune writes in her books. She knows how to capture your attention and keep you reading until the very end. This is a great love story about how things aren’t always as they seem, even in a nosy small town like Pleasure Island. Her characters are hilarious and you can’t even predict what happens on the nude beach.

I chose this book to read yesterday. My husband was having surgery and I wanted to read something that was going to make me laugh & smile. The first chapter alone had me going. Myrtle and Louise are still a hoot. Poor Trent. He had no idea what he was getting into when he went bounty hunting for Earl. But then he met Mazey and he was through hunting. Mazey couldn't believe she was attracted to the man hunting her brother. The pig, the scene at Bare Beach, and the picture of Mazey sitting on the shark floaty. Girl power. Trent saving the day. Thank you for getting me through a worrisome day. Also, you may have a couple of new fans. A couple of ladies wanted to know who I was reading. I told them about you.
Amazing, funny, and full of insight, Rip Tide Bikini is a joy to read. Lula Dune gives readers fresh stories they don't want to put down. Ordering number 3.
