She knows former big-city detective Nicholas Grey moved to LeNaro, Michigan, to give his child a safe and stable life. But sometimes a cop's job means risk and danger. I live in Northern Lower Michigan with my husband and our three adorable dogs. I enjoy the Great Lakes, anything outdoors, and a really strong cup of coffee.
My love of fairy tales as a kid paved the way for me to create my own happily-ever-after stories. My passion grew in writing flawed characters who realize their need to trust God before they can trust each other.

I love to hear from readers and can be reached through my website at www.jennamindel.com.

The Deputy's New Family by Jenna Mindel

4 STARS

This is the first book I have read of Jenna's but won't be the last. I have already added a couple to my wish to read pile. I really like the characters even peanut.

Beth had some real fears she had to overcome. Beth is a second grade teacher. Her father was a cop who died in the line of duty. There is no way Beth will date a cop. She has moved back to live with her mom.

Nicholas Grey is now a single father. He is a cop. He does not plan to get serious with anyone soon. He needs to build more close relationship with his son. That's why he took the job in smaller town.

Corey is close to failing second grade. They moved with only two months left in the year. He hates to read. He has been bounced around after his mom died because of his father's work. He is a cute. Death of a parent is hard on children, and for awhile he even lost his father. Mine did not want to be left for years.

Mary is Beth's mom. She has agreed to watch Corey after school. She keeps feeding Corey and Nicholas. Corey fits in with Beth and Mary so fast and easy. She also lives right across the street from the school.

The setting of the book is Lellaro, Michigan. A small town right close to two great lakes.

The book does talk about faith, prayer and leave the rest in God's hands. Not in a overbearing way but a natural part of the story. I thought it was done in a good positive way.

This is a good clean read.

I was given this ebook from Net Galley and Harlequin. In return I agreed to give honest review of it.

Wow! A book with no sex and one kiss that I actually enjoyed. What a happy story...a bit predictable in the sequences, little or no surprises, but what a delightful read between my usual murder and mayhem. Good read.

Excellent! Her characters are completely lovable and the story is full of realistic situations that we all could have in our lives! The characters never became whiny which I truly appreciate!

Wow, what an amazing story. The writing was excellent and the characteristics of Nick Grey and his son, Corey along with Beth Rykem were so deeply exciting... explained with such in-depth details. This was genuinely emotional story... I laugh, smiled, and cried through reading this book.

When Beth, a second grade teacher, met Corey, she instantly want to help him, education and emotional. She tried tutoring him, got her Mom to babysit him, read with him and help him when he found an abandon dog, Peanut. Corey got quickly attached to her, seeking a new Mom, since his Mom, Susan, died in a car accident. (Susan suffered from emotional breakdown and was often volatile).

Beth also became attractive to Nick, (a cop), but was afraid to get involve with him because her father who was a police officer, was brutally murdered with his own gun, when she was only 14 years old. One day while on a boating extrusion, Beth was voliently tossed overboard and almost died, but Nick risked his life to save her. Beth then gradually realized that she was in love with him...they soon got married.

I highly recommend this book....for a joyous reading experience 😍

Widower Nick Grey has left his undercover police job in Grand Rapids to take a job as deputy in LeNaro, MI to have more time to reconnect with his son, Corey. He enrolls Corey in second grade with only a few months to the end of the term. Corey's teacher is Beth Ryken, who has an immediate connection with the sad little boy and soon discovers that he has problems reading. Beth's mother takes on watching Corey after school and Beth starts tutoring him in hopes that he won't have to repeat second grade. Beth is also drawn to Nick but has a policy of not dating cops since her father was killed in the line of duty and she knows the stress her mother lived with. Average inspirational romance.

"Mindel’s characters demonstrate how we should not let life’s risks and fears hold us back. We all have emotional baggage, but that does not negate the possibility of a happily ever after" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars)
