Tangled Hearts is the second installment of The Tangled Duet. You must read Tangled Fates before reading Tangled Hearts, the plot is a continuation of the first book and nothing will make sense if they are not read in order. I highly recommend reading the Belladonna series before this duet for an even better timeline understanding. This is a Tangled retelling, with a medium amount of action in the story, a decent amount of spice and a Why Choose dynamic.
Tangled Hearts starts exactly where the first book left off. After the major cliffhanger that Mandy Muse left us with at the end of the first book ( a signature move for Mandy Muse), I was extremely grateful that we jumped right into the action. I felt that the majority of this book was a spicy scene, followed by an action sequence, that led into another spicy scene, rinse and repeat. There is a plot in there, it just was not as predominant or developed as I would have liked to see.
Since this is a continuation of the first book, we deal with the same characters as before. I love that we start out with a bigger glimpse into Max's background, it made understanding his actions and mannerisms a lot easier throughout the story. My fondness of Gray, Soren and Ryder only grew stronger the more interaction we had with them. As far as Oria goes, I can say I respect her journey. I thought I had finally fallen in love with her towards the end of the first book, and then that wavered several times throughout this book. I understand how she got to each stage of her journey, and I can understand her reactions to those events, but I still could not completely love her. I am a firm believer that not all characters should be lovable, and that the author has done their job if they can make me feel some way about the characters, and Mandy Muse brilliantly evokes feeling from me every single time.
Overall I felt this was an enjoyable story, I liked that we got many of book ones questions answered in this book, and as always I found the main characters delightful and sexy.
