Theo Hivercouer was born blessed with the gift of unimaginable knowledge. Unfortunately, that gift did not save him from being kidnapped by an ancient fae out to steal his gift and his magic.
Rescued just in time and recovering at the Black Stump Tavern, Theo faces a daunting and uncertain future.
Afterall, what is a fae without magic? Who is he without his gift?
Roan Henrickson was happy with his life as the tavern keeper at the Black Stump Tavern. But when his berserker instincts compelled him to join in the rescue of a lost fae, he never could have known how drastically his life was about to change.
As the future burns bright, it appears that Theo’s past isn’t quite ready to let him go. When nightmares become real, can Theo and Roan conquer the past–and themselves–to find their happily ever after?

Whisper Falls is the second in the Legends of the Whisper Woods series. Each book in the series can be enjoyed as a standalone, each with their own happily ever after. However, there are interconnected storylines, and an overarching plot throughout the series and are best read in order.
This is basically just smut with a side of angsty plot. One MC, Theo, is saved by his brother and a gang of friends including other MC Roan, who almost immediately feels a bond with him. Roan is hesitant to commit, because Theo is in a vulnerable position and doesn't seem to have any relationship experience, this does not stop them from having multiple sexual encounters almost immediately. It takes Theo a few months of shutting himself away, one book series and a house renovation to get over the whole kidnapping and almost being killed experience. Drama ensues because it turns out he is not all innocent and has an abusive ex he decides to only tell one person about, then when his ex threatens to track him down he tells no one, including Roan who by this point has been elevated from a friend with benefits to an actual partner. This leads to a second kidnapping, he then murders his ex with powers he didn't know he had, and is recovered enough from the trauma to have sex the next morning?
The plot is essentially Theo refusing to communicate leading to increasingly drastic consequences. From petty jealousy to kidnapping. The rest is just a lot of smut, interspersed with shopping sprees and house renovations, very occasional moments of trauma, therapy (but the therapists tells him to communicate with his abusive ex so I'm going to say that it is not real therapy at all), and working at Roan's bar. The main couple do not communicate about their relationship until they confess their love for one another... They discuss it with everyone else in the friendship group, just not each other. This works out for them in the end?
Read for Fae/Beserker fanfiction not for a coherent plot or any realistic portrayal of relationships, trauma or life.

I already feel like an idiot, mooning after a kid ten years younger than me. It couldn’t be more inappropriate, even without the whole, he’s depressed and vulnerable after a traumatic, life-altering, life-threatening event thing. But the dumb ass, feral beast inside doesn’t care. It just wants. Craves.
First and foremost, my reviews are for READERS not for authors. If you liked this book, I’m glad you found something you enjoyed. This is merely my opinion so let's keep it civil, thank you very much.
This book was… not my tea. I don’t know what it’s about age gap romances that have to make it sound as pedophilic as possible to like a fully grown adult…
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first book but I took an interest in Theo and when I saw the ARC popping up I was like… why not? And this book picks up right when Roan and the other’s are rescuing Theo - great!
I expected this to be more of a slowburn romance as there wasn’t a lot of romance mentioned in the blurb (compared to the first book). I didn’t really know what to expect but this book was completely different from the first one. There is a tonal shift that’s noticeable early on. The story starts out quite slow and never really picks up. At some point I wasn’t even sure if we were still moving.
We start with Theo rotting in bed, contemplating life and being quite fairly traumatized from his kidnapping and everything he’s endured ever since. On top of that, he’s being chased by nightmares of his past and more specifically his ex boyfriend Darius.
Meanwhile Roan, the co-owner of the tavern this story mainly takes place, is fighting demons. And by fighting demons I mean the kind of horny demons only a romance novel protagonist has. There is this “feral beast” inside of him that wants nothing more but to hook up with this “kid”.
Theo grew up with this special gift that made him super smart and therefore he pretty much built his entire self-esteem on being the smart one. Now that this gift was stolen from him, he doesn’t know who he is or where to go in life. He wants to cut ties with his former life and start fresh in the tavern. And what better way to start a new life than to get into somebody else’s pants, am I right?
Theo and Roan quickly string up a “friends with orgasms” (as they so charmingly call it) situation after they shared a “kiss” (they were dry-humping) in the beginning of the story. They are both obviously attracted to each other but because Roan doesn’t want to take advantage of Theo’s vulnerable state, they decide that a secure relationship is the last thing he needs right now and they should rather have a let’s-not-clarify-what-we-are-but-still-fuck-and-get-jealous situationship. That coupled with both of their inability to have a mature conversation about what this development means for them is the perfect recipe for a traumatized young adult to recover and heal.
Roan is the older party of the two and therefore all the responsibility is put on his shoulders and rarely anybody stops to ask THEO what THEO wants and needs. Everybody else constantly speaks for him - which frustrates him understandably. He is treated by everybody like this little baby (even the narrative!!). He is in his early twenties but the people around him act like he just graduated middle school…
Just to set the scene, here are a few nicknames that Theo gets called throughout the book: “baby boy”, “kid”, “child”...
And just because we really wanna hammer that point in, here are a few descriptions: “makes his wee, little, baby biceps pop”, “sob like a baby”, “timid man-child”, “looks so small”, “making him look smaller, more vulnerable”, “tiny size”, “spits his words like the venom of a childish, tiny snake on the attack”, “highlighting the innocence of his eyes”, “acting on some childish reflex”, “poke my tongue out at him like the mature adult I am now”
How old is he supposed to be again? Seven?
That was one of the biggest problems I had with this book. I am really not one to hate on age gaps, but this book bent over backwards to make it seem as gross and forbidden as possible for two consenting adults to enter a consensual relationship.
Of course Roan is described as super manly and big and mature just to really rub it in how tiny and immature and baby-like our twenty-two year old “kid” is. That didn’t only feel very infantilising and almost patronizing but also insulting. This book tries to avoid painting Roan as a predatory adult who takes advantage of a vulnerable young man but by constantly pointing out how vulnerable and hurt and uwu our little baby tiny wee boy is, it falls quickly into a different trap.
This book had quite a few scenes where one of the guys (mostly Theo) was getting handsy with a still asleep Roan and while there is a “somnophilia” trigger/content warning in the beginning, I was quite uncomfortable with how it was written and portrayed. It kinda reminded me of those dark romance books that marked it as “consensual non-consent” but it really is just rape but the author and readers like it so it’s… consensuall?? As far as I remember, there was no consent expressed before any of that happened. Theo had no idea that Roan liked to be touched while he was asleep. And I… I just leave the quote here:
“Despite being caught basically molesting him sleeping like a hideous lecher, my cock is still hard as a rock. In fact, I flick my eyes up to his tense face, half-open eyes deceptively calm, I think it’s making me harder.”
What… Please guys, please make sure to get the other party’s consent BEFORE you are doing any of this. Someone getting "wet" or "hard" is no indication. Those are bodily functions that can happen reagrdless of someone taking pleasure in a sexual act or not. So make sure that the other person is expressing their ENTHUSIASTIC CONSENT BEFORE (!!!). It's not use to force them to be like "yeah okay it's... okay" AFTERWARDS.
Anyway, this book wants to be a cozy fantasy with a central focus on healing and finding comfort in friends and family and reinventing and finding yourself, yadda yadda. In my very honest opinion, it did not accomplish that. Despite what I just said, there was no plot. Like there was nothing really going on. We just stumbled from one make-out session to another.
There is this “plot twist” at the end with a cartoonishly evil bad guy that was… revealed to be more dangerous after they defeated them… That’s also a way to… build tension after the action is over I guess…
I was bored for most of the time caught between hook ups and shed renovations. Theo goes to therapy and because this book really cares about the semi-realistic healing journey he finds the perfect therapist on the first try and it immediately helps him without having to go through any hardship at all. And I know this is a fantasy book that doesn't want to go into dark and realistic stuff too much and this is very much a pet peeve of mine but I wish authors would stop trying to sell therapy as this instant solution that immediately hits you like taking pain killers when you have a headache. Therapy helps many people but not all, and finding the right KIND of therapy is also important. And finding the right therapist that works for you personally is also something that falls into that. But I guess this book didn’t want to focus on that aspect of healing or therapy so… yeah.
The thing is that I do resonate with Theo a bit, making your whole personality and self-worth about being “the smart one” and defining yourself solely based on your achievements. I was ready to get my feelings hurt, to be screaming, crying, throwing up, watching Theo learn that you are worth more than a simple number on a piece of paper. But this book was very tell don’t show - where all these important lessons were rather told to us by everyone around Theo until he eventually was like “yeah okay”. There was no struggle and no back and forth. Theo’s growth was quite linear with only one minor set-back. And yeah, imagine if it was that simple.
For a book that wants to be a cozy healing journey, we focused almost entirely on something else (and that something else is people’s horny thoughts and actions). Not exactly what I would expect. So yeah, this book really wasn’t for me.
I still hope that this book will find its right intended audience so I recommend it to everyone who wants to read a cozy laid-back fantasy story about two men who find each other through a FWB situation with high heat and an “everybody notices their feelings but them” trope. There is a big focus on the age gap romance, there's miscommunication, and a tavern/cottagecore setting. I guess you could even say found family.
Whisper Falls is the second book in Ali Woods' Legends of the Whisper Woods series, and is a natural continuation of the story that began in Whisper Wells. While it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the series in order for overall better experience and deeper understanding of the characters and world.
One of the things I really loved about this book is how it takes a different turn from the mystery-driven adventure of the first book, and focusing instead on more personal journey of healing and personal growth. Theo is still recovering from the traumatic events of book one, that left lasting emotional scars and disrupted his magic. Roan, dealing with a different trauma of the same events, is doing his best to give Theo space, but struggles with his protective instincts while also trying to respect Theo's need for independence. The slow burn romance between these them is full of tension. They both clearly want more but neither is willing to make the first move. So their back-and-forth creates a lot of "will-they-won’t-they" moments.
As with the first book, the world building is truly wonderful and captivating. The magical setting of the Whisper Woods is brought even more to life. And we get to learn more about the creatures that inhabit it, which I really enjoyed. Once again, the side characters added a lot of charm to the story and it was really easy to get invested in their lives. I loved how the group felt so close-knit, and how they were trying to help Theo find his way again.
Both Theo and Roan grow a lot throughout the book. And that growth isn’t just in terms of their relationship, but they also grow as individuals. It is easy to see their personalities in the way they interact with each other and others. That said, Theo's lack of communication with his brother Tor and Roan did get frustrating at times. Especially when it started to affect his relationship with Roan. So by the middle of the book, his avoidance has really started to wear on my patience, and it was beginning to be harder and harder to sympathise with him.
The pacing is a bit uneven, since there’s a bit of a slowdown in the middle, but the build-up to the dramatic climax brings everything together nicely.
In short, Whisper Falls is a good sequel to the first book. The world of Whisper Woods is beautifully created, and the characters are easy to root for...even when they’re driving you a little crazy at times. The book wonderfully combined magical setting with an emotional journey of healing, self-discovery and love. And the subtle hints at what’s to come made me eager for the next book featuring Seff and the mysterious Rafe.
I received a copy of this book from the author, and this is my unbiased review.

CW: emotional abuse from an ex-partner (historical), death of a child (historical, off page and only briefly mentioned), death of a side character (graphic depiction, on page), depictions of grief, depression and mental health, complicated parental relationships, violence on page including MCs, semi-public sex, (kinda) somnophilia, kidnapping of MC.
4/5 I quite enjoyed this second book in the series, but I did find its contents a little unexpected, I guess because book 1 had such a strong “adventure/quest” component. This second book is much closer to a cosy fantasy—which I also thoroughly enjoyed, it just wasn’t quite what I was expecting based on book 1.
The flip side of that is that I did actually appreciate that there were real consequences to the events of book 1; I don’t want Theo to suffer, but the fact of the matter is that he *did*, and it takes time and therapy and support to start processing all that trauma. This really is the story of that recovery journey.
I wish that Theo was better at communicating (and that Roan was too, for that matter). They are epically bad at it, and some of the consequences of this lack of communication are quite frustrating. (There are some reasons for some of it, but some of the decisions seem to just be based in sheer stupidity, lol.)
I enjoyed seeing Theo find new things to interest him and figure out how he actually wanted to live his life. I liked when Theo and Roan were actually in a relationship (even if they weren’t calling it that), and I enjoyed how invested friends and patrons were. I liked Theo and Roan fixing up their house together (even if they didn’t know that’s what they were doing at first). The connection to the forest was cool. The past catching up with them was not cool (but I’m very glad it was resolved. It was creepy).
I really liked the life Roan and Theo built for themselves. The epilogue was lovely. I’m looking forward to Seff’s book.
I received an ARC from BookSirens. This is my honest review.
As instructed, I read Whisper Wells before reading this book and, in retrospect, am very glad I did. Yes, each book focuses on a romance between different people, but so much world building (and relationship building!) happens in the first book. I don’t think the second book would hit the same way without it.
That’s a compliment, fwiw. I was delighted by the world building in these books. An interesting range of beings - sure, werewolves and fae, but the take on fae is different than what most folks are writing these days, and there’s also a whole host of other creatures we do not see much in romance. I loved it. And I think that context is important to fully immerse yourself in what’s special about this story.
I was a bit torn about how to rate this book. I did end up loving it! But I felt like it didn’t quite find itself until halfway through - the pacing was a bit strange. The first half is a lot of pining (fine) and Theo’s trauma recovery - which is important, and I love to see the mess of it represented - but it felt like this could have been set in any world, not specifically this one. A missed opportunity for getting into more of the detail of the magic systems and various creatures and whatnot. It was all sweet and enjoyable but didn’t feel particularly connected to the magic and creatures we’d learned so much about in the first book.
In summary: imperfect, but sweet, very sexy, and a lush, fascinating world. I loved spending more time here - with these beings, with the forest, with all the magic we’re still learning about. I’ll be eagerly awaiting the third book.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really liked the world building in this book and all of the secondary characters were fab to get glimpses of. I enjoyed the faster pace to start with as Theo was initially rescued; Roan was so sweet and protective and it was a good slow-burn chemistry there. All the small steps they took to bring Theo back out of his shell were sweet and I liked how united they were as a group. It was also interesting reading about Inigo and then learning more about the woods and the animals that live there.
I do wish that there was a little bit more pace in the middle; things dragged slightly in the build up towards the end drama and I think this just emphasised that Theo began to really annoy me the further in I read. He was just so bad at communication! I honestly don't think he shared a single thing with Roan or Tor and I lost quite a bit of sympathy for him about what happened next - which I completely get is the wrong response but it just seemed like he wasn't as invested as Roan was.
I enjoyed the little snippets and hints we got of the next book with Seff - definitely wondering exactly what's going on with Rafe! Overall, if you like mm romance with a fantasy/paranormal element then this is a good book. Unfortunately, it just wasn't my favourite for the reasons above. My issues with it are minor though and I still think it's a good book and would recommend it to those who like this genre to give it a try.
So, I finished off the first book and immediately wanted to read the second book. I just had to know how precious Theo was able to recover. To confirm you really cannot read this as a standalone. You need to read book 1 first to understand how Theo is in his current position.
If you’re looking for action/adventure like book 1 then you’re not going to get that. But what you do get is a wonderful hurt/comfort book with Theo on his journey to recover from his trauma.
Now what I enjoyed is that you get a realistic portrayal of depression along with family and friends trying their best to be supportive and occasionally messing up along the way. No one is perfect and people do fluff up. However Theo is fiery and calls Roan and others out if they’re being overbearing. There’s also great rep on the therapy front - good dick does not miraculously solve all problems….
Now around 70% in we go get the shitty ex turn up and drama/action around that. It’s resolved pretty quickly and I would have liked more here. I commented on book 1 that I thought the main ‘fight/rescue’ scene needed more, and I’ve got similar vibes here. But, it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book at all.
This book is also spicy but proportionate to the length of the book, I like a good amount of plot with my sexy scenes.
We’re also set up nicely for book 3 and I look forward to our loveable wolf shifter Seff get his HEA.
My reviews are my own. If you liked this book, I’m glad you enjoyed it. This is merely my opinion, so let's keep it courteous.
I did not enjoy the first book, but thought this one was going to be more romantic since there is a 10-year age gap, so you would think the "mature" partner would be supportive and use COMMUNICATION to help someone who just went through a bad experience. However, what we get is an adult acting like a kid, harming the younger MC with his lack of communication and insecurities. Then, he jumps into sex right away without dealing with the trauma first. Fantasy or not, that is plain wrong. Basically, he acts like a predator.
The young MC acts like a spoiled brat instead of someone who went through a deadly experience and just asks like a horny toad.
Then we have a bunch of pushy meddling characters.....if you are going to meddle, push them towards communicating rather than making it worse.
I can keep going, but I can't go lower than 1 star.
Anyway, fantasy or not, earth or not, don't use it as an excuse for a crappy plot development (talking about the intro to the book). On to my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!
We're back to Whisper Woods with this second book in the series. Following the events of book 1, this story is focused Theo and his struggles after surviving his brutal kidnapping and it's effects on his magic and emotional state. Roan, the one who actually picked Theo up when he was almost sacrificed, is struggling with his extreme protective feelings for Theo combined with his deep need to let Theo be himself. The two MCs spend a lot of time dancing around each other feeling that push pull of attraction and wariness. Neither wants to admit to the other how deeply they want to be together. Circumstances bring this tension to a head when Theo is kidnapped again. I really love this world with its magical beings and lovely woodland setting. Theo and Roan are a fun couple to read, although they are not great communicators which does lead to some frustration. The character continuity and involvement between the books is also great. While this could be read as a stand alone, I think readers would have a better experience by reading both in order.
This is book 2 in Ali Woods ‘Legends of the Whisper Woods’ series and while it could be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading book 1 first. Another incredible book from Ali Woods. So many swoon worthy moments! (Like he bought him books!) I really enjoyed watching the growth of both Roan and Theo over the course of this book, not just their relationship but their individual character growth. The personalities of the characters really shine in this book and it was a joy to read all the banter. The inner monologues of both Theo and Roan had me cackling because their feelings were so obvious to seemingly everyone except each other.
Memorable Moments ✨ The man has irritated and fascinated me ✨ And then there is Roan, just hovering about being all Roan-like. ✨ And that man is so far under my skin, he is basically embedded in my cells by now. ✨ Unfortunately, this morning I’m feeling brave and more than a little reckless. ✨ Maybe it was just the Theo Effect, because things are just that little bit better with him around.
I am so in love with this series! I liked book 2 just as much if not even better than the first. This book follows Theo, Tor's shy brother who could be doing better after his traumatizing time in the Whisper Woods during book 1. Luckily to aid in his recovery he has Roan, a huge, horned gentle giant of a tavern owner who is a teddy bear until you trigger his berserker blood (perfect opportunity for some touch him and die vibes).
Roan and Theo combine gallons of protectiveness with sweet and tender adoration and it's perfect. Theo does his own healing, not just relying on his budding relationship with Roan to block it all out. It includes healthy recovery and an amazing support system. These are amazing cozy fantasy books with just the right amount of angst and spice to liven things up. It's a size difference, boss x employee, friends to lovers romance with lovely dynamics and adorable found family.
*I received an ARC of this book! These are my honest and voluntary opinions 💕
The second book in the Legends of Whisper Falls series is a good follow-up to book one. And where book one was more of a traditional quest story, this is a quest inside oneself. There is a bit of unintentional travel though.
Theo was kidnapped by a fae witch, drained of his magic and near death when Caelan, Tor, Roan and company rescue him. Roan is attracted to him, wants to protect him. Their chemistry is great. This is a slow will-I-can-I type story. A little sweeter than the tale of Caelan and Tor. The worldbuilding was excellent. I liked how the cottage and garden renovations reflected Theo's healing journey. The secondaries were great, some old, some new. Definitely fodder for more stories. I actually preferred this book to the prior. I liked Tor well enough, but Theo's story really hit home. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This story followed the development of Theo & Roan’s relationship. It was strongly focussed on personal development and relationship building, with little exploration of the woods and excitement like we got in book one, but was still enjoyable with just enough plot.
It built on the fantastic characters we were introduced to in Whisper Wells with more of my favourites. Ali’s character building remains one of my favourite aspects of her writing alongside the amazing world she has created!
The story also contains superb mental health representation.
Looking forward to book 3 already!

Theo and Roan were cute. I was frustrated that they seemed to be there own worst enemies. However, their love blossomed the way it should. The little hints at Seff's lover interest had me excited to read the next book. The world building was good and I loved the romantasy accepts.
What to Expect: • Friends with Benefits • Forced Proximity • Size Difference • Age Gap • Romantasy • HEA
Cheating: Third-act breakup: POV: Dual POV (First Person POV) KU: Yes I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
Continuing on from Whisper Wells, after Theo had been rescued from his kidnapping, his loss of magic and almost dying. He was hurting, embarrassed and wanted to hide from the world, so staying at the Black Stump Tavern felt like the right thing to do. I really enjoyed this story watching Theo trying new things after losing his magic, getting closer to his brother Tor and finally having proper friends. Roan was a big teddy bear trying and failing to hide his attraction to Theo. He was very protective over Theo and I loved when he got all growly. This was a different pace to Whisper Wells as there was no epic adventure but 2 characters growing together, watching them fall in love and Theo realising he is more than his academic achievements. It was good to catch up with Tor, Caelan, Seff and Edith and get introduced to more new secondary characters. With a tease to Seff's story this is a series that I am really enjoying.
This book was a pleasure to read. The sequel of Theo, Tor, Roan, Seff, Caelan and of course the witch Edith. Theo is back after his kidnapping, but has suffered considerable trauma from this. He has also lost his gifts. His friends try to help him and with their help he slowly climbs out of that pit and starts living again. And then he really sees Roan and their story begins to take shape. Neither of them are ready for a real relationship, but what they have is enough for now. But Theo's trials are not over yet, one last test awaits him in the form of his ex. I'm really not going to tell you more, just read for yourself what secrets Falls and Whisper Wood still have for him. A fantastic, magical story.
You could read this book as a standalone, but I recommend to read the first book in the series. This is about Theo's healing, not only the traumatic experiences from Whisper Wells, but many older traumas in his life. I wish Theo and Roan would talk to each other, they would have avoided many troubles and reached happiness earlier. The Tavern's employees are a great addition to the cast of characters, where Edith deserves a mention. This book contrary to the first isn't full of action, but is not slow in any case. Everything happens near Roan's tavern and the weight is in the characters and their interactions. Avoiding the apocalypse is a bonus. I enjoyed this, I like the author's writing style and will read the next one.
The world building, in particular the magic building in this series by Ali Woods is marvelous. I really like how these books are about a community and not just one couple. Theo gets in trouble again and Roan is of course there to help. Even though this is a fantasy novel there is so much in it that feels so real, like Theo suffering and not wanting to get out of bed at the beginning of the story and him going to see a therapist. The best part is still the found family that surrounds the main characters and how much Ali Woods has written about these non main characters that add so much to the story. There is an overall story so the books are better read in order.
Theo has been through a lot of trauma. Being kidnapped by an ancient being and almost dying, has put some serious stress in his life.
Roan with all his masculinity, tries his very best to give Theo space after rescuing him. But he knows in his heart that Theo is everything to him already.
Will Theo make it back to sanity? Will Roan ever see Theo as a man that doesn't need possessiveness but needs the love attention he deserves? Only time will tell. You'll need to read this story with amazing characters and wonderful world building.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really enjoyed this continuation. It could be a standalone but I really enjoyed having the context of Theos trauma.
This story was much more cozy than the adventure in book 1, Theo is reluctant to let anyone in as he heals from his ordeal, he’s especially reluctant to let Roan in, but Roan seems to know exactly what Theo needs. I love the MM love story! Both Theo and Roan are stubborn was yelling at both Roan and Theo with their will they won’t they as they fight their bond!
This series has me hooked I can’t wait to see what comes next 👀
Thank you to Ali Woods and Book Sirens for this ARC
This book picks up after the first, with everyone dealing with the aftermath of Theo's rescue and the events that took place. Theo is an adorable little spitfire that has been through so much! Your heart just hurt for him but you knew he was going to be strong enough to find his true self. Roan was so caring and considerate of Theo, and he really showed how much he valued Theo as a person throughout the whole book. It was nice to see that Roan wanted Theo to learn to be his own person, but you also wanted to just thwap him on the head because DUH! I can't wait to see the next couple of the Whisper Woods.
This is the second book in this fantasy series. You definitely need to read this series in order! The main characters make repeat appearances in this book along with some wonderful new additions.
While the elements of danger continue, you'll also be treated to a relationship which builds slowly, and is all the more sweet because of it. Theo and Roan and made for each other and their strengths compliment those of the other.
Edith plays an important role in this book, much as she did in the first book, and you'll laugh at her antics. Seff and Rafe are also important players.
Follow Ali as she entertains you. You won't regret it!
This was such a great second book for this series. I love the world and all of the characters. I really liked getting to explore even more about the Woods and the beings who dwell there.
I've been waiting for Theo and Roan's book after what Theo went through in the first one and this did not disappoint. They were so perfect together and I love that Roan always knew what Theo needed to heal.
Now I can't wait for Seff to get his happy ending!!!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Theo has been through a horrific event and has hidden himself at the Black Stump Tavern. Roan is the owner and begins to feel attraction towards Theo. I wanted to smack these two upside the head throughout the book because so many problems could have been avoided had they simply communicated better. Roan becomes somewhat overprotective of Theo and struggles with letting go. I loved the allegory of the blossoming garden to their developing romance. The found family aspect was wonderfully done along with amazing world building.
Absolutely loved Whisper Falls which is the second in the Legends of the Whisper Woods series. I highly recommend you read the first book as even though technically this is a standalone the storyline and plot is connected. Excellent word building and relationship development from Ali which really helped you bond with the mc's. I enjoyed following Theo and Roan's journey, they are such a fun couple and found their misunderstandings from lack of communication quite endearing. I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review
This is the second book in this series. Theo who had been kidnapped is now staying at the Black Stump Tavern/Inn in the woods. He had his fae powers stolen while being held by an ancient evil entity and almost lost his life. He is depressed and at a loss as what his future holds. Roan the tavern’s owner along with the other rescuers including his brother are trying to help him recover. Unfortunately there is more trouble coming for Theo. The story is fantastic with magical beings, humorous characters and many steamy antics.
This was an amazing eventful journey for Roan, Theo, and me. Healing and growing and still more room for growth. The powers that are still coming, growing, and learning how to handle them. Darius was a shocking surprise for us. The wedding scene described in the epilogue sounded like heaven on earth. I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest opinion.
It took me a few minutes to remember that I had read the first book of this series. I loved that book and I did this one as well. The story was wonderful, I could feel the emotion between the characters as I read the story. The characters were so unique and so darn likeable. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Recommend reading. I received a complimentary copy of this book and the review I left was of my own free will.
3.5 stars. A really different type of story compared to the first in the series. The beautiful setting and most of the characters were also in the first book, and the overall plot continued from there. This was particularly a focus on Theo's recovery from being captured and how Roan figured out how to best support him and protect him without taking over. Some parts dragged a bit, but the overall plot was interesting and well thought out.
4/5 stars! This is the second book in the Legends of the Whisper Woods series. It is a standalone, but I definitely think there were a few moments where the story made more sense having read the first book. I liked Theo a lot. Here we get to see how his story splits off from book 1 and what recovering from losing his magic looks like. This story has a strong fated mates storyling between Theo and Roan. It was sweet and enjoyable.
