Path of the Seeker

Rate this book
Erano never planned to risk going to other worlds so young and inexperienced, but fate and not so divine intervention decided otherwise. Out of envy and jealousy, his relatives forcibly sent him to the most dangerous of the worlds.

To the lands of the Third Order. To a place where life is worthless and where people do not live, but only survive from nightfall to sunrise. This is where his journey begins.

Erano’s path is long and trying, but his will is unshakable. His thirst for knowledge is boundless, and his desire to return home is just as great.

He is ready to surmount all the obstacles put in his way.

He is determined to see this to the end, and no creature will be able to stop a Knowledge Catcher in a world full of dangers and Sacraments.

Bad pacing. Unique world, but still very undefined at the end of book.

The story just meandered. I had trouble with logical plot holes and horrible pacing.
The main character, through most of the front of the book, keeps considering the knowledge that he's learning to take back to his world. So there's no real excitement to understand his experiences and the new body that he's in. Throughout the entire book the main character searches for answers, and is repeatedly given tidbits but never a clear understanding. After a while, it's just annoying and convoluted. Throughout the entire book he can never figure out the magical mechanics of the world and it's so convoluted you just stop caring and it becomes an annoying Factor. The sporting cast is always a constant conflict with the main character, at times they are insufferable, and take away most of the main characters agency. The main character allows this and it becomes tedious. Main character also has the ability to absorb knowledge... But can never seem to do so. I found the whole story meandering, slow-paced, and just not worth caring what happens in follow-up books. If there are future additional books in this series, I'm going to pass on them.

OmG - the hero is a juvenile, wimpy chatterbox

I am no fan of first person view in novels that don't need emotions or inner thoughts to further the plot, such as horror or interpersonal relationship stories..

Somehow, throughout the entire book the protagonist feels more like a childish and annoying side character, who mostly depends on others to survive.

Comments:

While in most similar stories the protagonist acts too mature to be believable, in this story Erano, who is supposed to be 17 years old acts more like an eight years old child and just doesn't know how to shut up...

Erano is supposed to have received a lot of special training but cant fight and constantly acts like an absolute wimp..

I am disgusted by the constant over compensating political correctness in the media nowadays which produce crimes against language like "were they a hunter?".

4 or 5 stars!

Well written, there were grammar errors, missing words, etc. but the style of written was good.

The waffling on weather to give 4 or 5 stars is because the world is a bit dark/depressing and not really my favorite. Interesting for sure, but given the explanation of what we know, it seems far fetched that society could exist like it does. Some piece of information is missing to make it believable. But it is fantasy so suspend you disbelief.

Well written characters, even if you do want to punch some of them in the nose. Repeatedly.

intriguing

Russian litrpg is on the cutting edge going beyond the usual D&D and isekai tropes. Excellent world building and intriguing story, with lots of action.
