The Society's Hunter

Some monsters are born. Others are made. And I hunt them all.

Five years ago, a werewolf killed my family. Now, I take down supernaturals before they can do the same to anyone else. As a Hunter for the Society, I’ve faced everything from bloodthirsty vampires to cunning shifters, but lately, the creatures lurking in the dark are stronger—faster—more dangerous than ever.

A sorcerer is tearing through the supernatural world, summoning demons to possess shifters and vampires alike. His growing army is leaving a trail of bodies in its wake, and if I don’t stop him soon, humans will learn the monsters are real. And they’re everywhere.

When one of those possessed creatures kills my friend, I’m forced to ally with the one supernatural who’s been nothing but trouble—Derek, a gorgeous, arrogant wereleopard thief with his own agenda. He’s reckless, unpredictable, and exactly the kind of distraction I don’t need. But with time running out and the body count rising, we’ll have to trust each other to survive—because if we fail, the world will burn.

Perfect for fans of Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, and Kelley Armstrong, The Society’s Hunter delivers an addictive blend of action, slow-burn romance, and supernatural intrigue.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

MORE! I NEED MORE! This book was PHENOMENAL. If you love Supernatural, Teen Wolf and Detective vibes, this is the book for you! I absolutely loved every moment of this book. Heather Grace does an amazing job explaining The Society dynamic and the supernatural lore behind the storyline. One of my favorite parts of this book was the dual POV between Cassie and Derek because it allowed me to understand both the human and supernatural prospective on events that occurred. This book was the perfect mix of fantasy and thriller with the slightest hint of romance. I highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for a fantasy/supernatural read with little romance. I cannot wait to continue Cassie and Derek's story!

Wow, this is absolutely an amazing book. It starts with action, and it continues through the whole book. This is like Men In Black and Supernaturals mixed together. This is a slow burn, and I mean nothing happens between the two characters until the last chapter. I loved the book, and the ending makes me need to know what happens next.

Let me start by saying, *The Society's Hunter* by Heather D. Grace took me for a wild ride I was *not* prepared for. This was my first encounter with Ms. Grace's work, and trust me, I had zero expectations going in—well, other than knowing it was an Urban Fantasy thanks to the blurb. But, oh boy, was I in for a treat.

Picture this: cozy supernatural mystery meets action-packed, blood-pumping fantasy. We've got shifters, supernaturals of all kinds, a no-nonsense, kickass hunter with a tragic backstory, and a sorcerer who's trying to, you know, casually raise an army of demons. Just your average Tuesday, right?

Cassie, our fearless heroine, is so deep in her shifter-hating feelings that it practically drips off the page. And then there’s the wereleopard—a deliciously sexy, thieving MC who’s playing a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse with her. (Get it? Leopard? Cat? I’ll show myself out.) But here’s where it gets really juicy: beneath all the action and snark, there’s this unexpected layer of complexity. Like, is the wereleopard actually bad just because he's a shifter, or is Cassie too blinded by her past trauma to see the truth?

Ms. Grace gives us just the right amount of witty banter, some sizzling tension, and enough twists to keep you on your toes. I was all geared up for a neat little happily ever after, and then BAM—cliffhanger. I mean, *really*? I was thrown out of my chair. Now I’m stuck waiting for the next installment, and I am not okay.

In short, this book is a fast-paced, fun ride with enough depth to keep you hooked. Ms. Grace knows how to leave you hanging, and I’ll be waiting (impatiently) for what’s next. Well played.

This book has been sitting on my TBR for waaaaaaaaaasaaaaaaaaay too long! And I am completely and utterly ashamed to admit that I was crazy for not devouring this book months ago!

Cassie is a human working for The Society hunting Supes. Taking down bad guys. Saving and protecting humans from the secret evil that haunts their lives. But when supernatural attacks suddenly begin to threaten the tenuous vale of secrecy Cassie finds herself suddenly with only two choices…capture the gorgeous but thieving wereleapord she’s been hunting for 6 months and solve the crazy and deadly attacks herself or accept him as her secret partner, believe the intel he provides, have his back and trust him to have her’s, all the while fighting the ever tempting urge to let him in.

And Derek…well…Derek…he’s a wereleopard with secrets and responsibilities of his own. He’d love to shake off that Pixie of a Hunter Cassie…but…when things in the supernatural world start going down and rumors of demons are whispered he discovers he might just need the hunter’s help.

This was such a fantastic first in series! It had all the fun, humor, character creation, and plot development of a KM Shea Magiford book but with the perfect twist of realism, authenticity, and spice woven throughout! If you love KM Shea but wouldn’t mind it dirtied up a bit…The Society’s Hunter is exactly what you are looking for!

I loved Cassie! She is feisty and determined! And an all around formidable hunter…she takes her job of hunting monsters and kicking ass seriously. But she is also extremely altruistic! With the quintessential dash of self awareness and heart! She isn’t afraid to feel her feelings but she also isn’t going to allow them to slow her down or keep her from capturing the monsters around her.

But…alas…like with pretty much…almost every story I read…my favorite character is the MMC, Derek! I just love how Grace wrote him. At first glance he’s definitely got all the swagger and self assurance of a gorgeous supernatural thief. But as the story progresses Grace does an exceptional job peeling back his layers and revealing this character that is so much deeper than at first glance. I love him! He’s fantabulous! And it’s great to have a shifter mc that is something other than a wolf! It’s interesting and unique and I am so glad Grace went down the road less traveled!

Then there is the story. The story was oh so captivating! With just enough darkness to make you shutter! And enough heart and family to warm your soul! And the perfect dash of romance and spice to tie it all together! There were plot twists and unexpected moments. Intriguing magic. And interesting side characters and locations that really brought this world to life! I loved the reality that Grace created. I loved the little instances of crassness and blood! Danger and heat! Bars and Clubs! That really made this feel like a realistic story taking place from an authentic mid twenties POV. It was just done exceptionally well and I very highly recommend it!

So yep…go read this book! You will come for the supernatural hunting bad ass female but stay for the depth of emotion! Romance! And authenticity!

The Society's Hunter is the first book in Grace's paranormal Hunters series. This book is a slow burn, enemies to lovers featuring a strong, smart and sassy female character named Cassie. Cassie is a human hunter who works for The Society, a covert group that endeavours to ensure the existence of supernatural beings remains a thing of fiction to humans. She lost her family five years prior in a werewolf attack. That is how she learned of the existence of "supes" and what motivated to quit her job with the police force and start working as a sort of bounty hunter for The Society.

For the past six months she's been tracking a wereleopard thief named Derek. She's determined to bring him in a collect the bounty until the unexpected happens - a suspicious attack within the walls of The Society. Figuring out who was responsible for this attack quickly becomes the priority, and when Derek reaches out to her implying he has information, she can't walk away. Cassie learns there's more out there than she ever knew, and reluctantly agrees to work with Derek to try to solve the case.

I love Cassie's strength. She's suffered a horrible tragedy with the loss of her family, but has used that pain to find purpose. She doesn't want anyone else to suffer the same pain and spends her days trying to bring in those beings who harm humans, or put them at risk of learning something that will blow their minds. She's fiercely determined, stubborn, and very serious. Derek is a fun character. While it seems like he doesn't take much seriously, that is only a façade. He has impressive skills as a shifter, but he also has a heart of gold. It was fun to see him push her buttons, and play with her, much the way a cat would play with a toy. I enjoyed their chemistry, and their banter, and I'm eager to see what comes next for these two.

If you're looking for spice, you'll need to be patient as this is very much a slow burn relationship. Rest assured though, it is there. You should also know that this book ends with a cliffhanger. Hunting Demons, the second book in this trilogy, is expected in October. Thankfully we don't have long to wait!

This took me a minute to get into but once I did? Didn’t put it down. This book has a pretty interesting twist on the supernatural v. human dynamic which was fun and interesting to read.

Cassie is a Hunter for the Society where her role is to being down and apprehend supernaturals who are wreaking havoc on the human world. Derek is a wereleopard that spends his nights thieving and ended up on Cassie’s radar. Unfortunately for Cassie, she’s spent the last 6 months trying to bring Derek in and never is able to get the jump on him.

When Derek leaves her a note and asks her to work with him to bring down beings that are targeting supernaturals and humans, Cassie is reluctantly pulled more into Derek’s orbit. As they continue to uncover more and more about the beings attacking supernaturals, the danger progresses and hits a little too close to home for Cassie and Derek.

Cassie spends so much of this book reluctant to work with someone else by her side after some past trauma but as the story progresses, she leans into trusting those around to provide her support so she can stay alive.

This book has the found family, shifters, and a self-sufficient and strong FMC that is doing everything she can for what she believes in. I really enjoyed reading this book and delving into Cassie and Derek’s story. There is some romance but don’t expect it at the beginning - it is a slow burn. This book is definitely plot heavy over the romance but the story line is good and keeps you interested the whole way!

4.25 rounded up for Goodreads

Okay, so maybe I started reading this book immediately, and maybe it sucked me in so I finished in a day. It was just that good! This book was exactly my cup of tea, with the paranormal romance, grumpy x sunshine, a cop and a thief, it had everything I want out of this genre! The romance in this book is slow burn, but it works perfectly in the enemies to lovers that’s going on.

Cassie, a human working for The Society, a group that polices supernaturals and keeps them from exposing the supernatural to the humans, and Derek, a wereleopard, are forced by situation to work together to figure out who’s behind the demonic possession of supernaturals in the city. She saw her family killed by a werewolf a few years ago and joins The Society to help prevent that situation from happening to others. So of course, who better to partner with to solve the mystery than the thief that she’s been trying to track down, who happens to be a wereleopard? These two have great banter that keeps things moving, Derek tries to make a joke out of everything and Cassie is so serious, and it really works with this couple.

I can’t wait for book two! And I’m so glad that these are expected to have a short gap between releases so that I don’t have to wait to long to find out what happens next!

The Society's HunterI loved this book!

I was given this book to read and review by the author's team as an ARC book review.

Pros: I thoroughly enjoyed the world set-up and the story that started in this book. I absolutely loved Cassie as a character. She's smart, strong and a little bit sassy! I also enjoyed Derek and what little of his back-story that we got. The story sucked me in and kept me busy reading until it was done! I can't wait to see what happens next!

Cons: Some of the narration was a little stilted but that might be because I don't naturally speak that way.

Some of the story was a little predictable and I feel like a good investigator would not have had to go through all the steps to figure out who the main antagonist was in this book that Cassie did. She was basically literally told who was involved and didn't even really think to look at that angle until it was shoved in her face. For someone who is supposed to be the top Hunter at the Society that situation rings a little false.

Other than that I loved the story that was told and would happily continue reading the series!

What an excellent book, and quite stunning for a debut! The stakes start out fairly low, with Cassie hunting shifters and other 'supes' (supernaturals), and I figured that would be the majority of the book. But the stakes bump up FAST as we discover demons are taking over supes, making them stronger and careless about avoiding discovery.

To keep the supernatural world from unsuspecting humans, Cassie has to work overtime—and partner up with the were-leopard she's been chasing. It's much more than supernatural bounty hunting as she struggles to learn the new rules of the game and keep everyone safe at the same time. Over time, Derek wears down that hard line Cassie has placed between herself and the 'monsters', placing her into a confusing world of grey rather than black-and-white.

Loved the sexy ending, was caught perfectly off-guard by the cliffhanger, and I have a theory as to who the mysterious sorcerer summoning the demons is...or at least who they're working with. Very interested to see if I'm correct as I continue reading, and if Cassie and Derek can make it when their worlds are at odds with each other. Not to mention the best friend who's embroiled in all the danger in the worst way. (LOVE her character!)

TL:DR summary—Well written, great characters, smooth plot progression, unputdownable!

Fans of the Anita Blake series will find a lot to like about "Society's Hunter." This is no carbon copy, though. I like the notion of the Society – an organization tasked with keeping the existence of the supernatural a secret. I also like that the universe has a wide variety of supernatural creatures, ranging from wereleopards, werewolves, and a zoo's worth of other shifters, to vampires to succubi to demons. The protagonist is far from perfect, and I appreciate someone who doesn't succeed in every scene.

The first-person narrative shifts between the two main characters, which gives a nice perspective on their feelings and motivations. I also like that it doesn't bounce around between more than those two, otherwise it could be disorienting.

The main plot takes a bit of time to get going, but once it found its stride it is quite engaging. The romantic element is nicely developed. I don't want to spoil anything, but Derek's motivation for his thievery was a nice surprise and gave me a new appreciation for the character – much like it did for Cassie.

In reading some of the other reviews, I was expecting a twist at the end, and I thought I knew what was coming. However, I have to admit that it caught me off guard. I am interested to read what happens next!

This debut novel by Heather D. Grace is freaking EVERYTHING you could want in an action packed urban fantasy. It has crime fighting, mystery, Shifters of all kinds, humans, the supernatural (called supes), it's a slow burn/opposites attract. So when I say it has everything I seriously mean it!

You have the bad ass crime fighting Hunter Cass who is the FMC.
You have the Bad Boy she has been trying to catch for weeks, Derek, who is the shifter MMC.
And soooo much more as the story develops. I mean what could go wrong (or right 😉 oh so right) teaming up with the bad guy to work on a case right?!

Heather has done such an amazing job with this book and the way she has written it really keeps you sucked into the story wanting to devour the pages!

I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in this incredible trilogy 🖤

Where to start… I haven’t read fantasy/ urban fantasy in a while so went in a little apprehensive, but needn’t have been. If vamps, weres/ shifters, demons and other supernaturals are your thing then look no further.

It’s a slow burn but is certainly worth the wait, it had me silly grinning and kicking my feet!

The character and story development is brilliantly written and has left me desperately waiting for books 2 and 3 - which i straightaway went and pre-ordered!

The strong FMC - Cassie - is so relatable, with a tragic backstory of her own, I was fighting and laughing with her the whole way through.
The MMC - Derek - is fineeee! With a capital F! His cheeky, alluring, flirtatious and protective ways had me swooning and desperate for more of him from the off.

This battle between two worlds, the supes and the humans, is enticingly written with gripping plot twists, tension from the start and an ending which had my stomach plummeting through the floor. Can Cassie and Derek save their friends, family and both their worlds from the Sorcerer? Can their relationship ever be anything more than a partnership?
I cannot wait to see how their journey unfolds!

4.5 Loved this it’s a fast paced, enemies to lovers, slow burn PNR. Cassie is a member of the society’s hunter a human organization tasked with capturing supernaturals who risk exposing the supernatural world to humans. While out trying to capture a thief she’s been after for months Derek the wereleopard brings info to her that there are strange things happening with supes not being as cautious about exposure, leading Cassie and Derek on dangerous hunt for a sorcerer and supes inhabited by demons. I enjoyed Cassie she’s been through a lot with losing family but didn’t let it keep her down and instead put her grief and determination into making sure that what happened to her doesn’t happen to anyone else. I will say it was sad to know that she put all supes in the same category as the ones who took her family but seemed to start opening her eyes the more she was around Derek and saw the good he was trying to accomplish. I love seeing their relationship develop Derek is such a flirt with a good heart and she’s the determined and focused hunter fighting her feelings. That cliffhanger wow wasn’t expecting it to go the way that it did and what led to it crazy I can’t wait for book 2.

This is the first book I have read by the author and the first in the Hunters series. For a debut novel, it is an engaging slow burn, enemies to lovers that introduces readers to Cassie a human who works for a group, The Society, that’s primary focus is to keep humans in the dark when it comes to supernatural beings. Cassie’s introduction to this society was predicated on the loss of her family and inspired her to leave her position with the police and become a hunter of sorts. Derek is a supernatural thief who Cassie is focused on bringing in and collecting the bounty. However, things are not as they seem and when Derek reaches out to give Cassie information about an attack, she decides that working with him is the best option to solve the mystery. The two have a rapport, although unorthodox, and their banter is entertaining which keeps the storyline moving. The introduction brings readers in although it felt as if the author was trying a bit too hard and it did not flow as easily as the rest of the story. If you are looking for a paranormal to add to your shelf, take a chance on this one. I look forward to the next book to see where things go.

Nothing captivates my attention more than a strong willed sassy female lead and a grumpy rough around the edges male who is just a big softy inside! That’s exactly what you get with this brilliant story, Heather D. Grace knocks it out of the park in the first book of the series.

Cassie is a human hunter for the Society, the law enforcement of the paranormal world. When her latest job to investigate why demons are possessing other supernaturals, Cassie is unexpectedly partnered up with Derek, a wereleopard who has information that can help her current assignment. Will these two be able to solve the case before they drive each other insane or worse.

Cassie has a traumatic and horrible past, the loss of her family has made it difficult to trust anyone, yet it’s made her one hell of a hunter. Derek comes off as easy going but underneath it all, he cares and worries far more than anyone would give him credit for. These two make an amazing team, they complement each other perfectly.

This book has:
*Enemies to Lovers
*Grumpy/Sunshine vibes
*Paranormal
*Spicy Tension

Warning! Cliffhanger however book 2 releases October 1st!!

Favourite blurb: "Derek lands on the hood in all his beautiful black feline glory."

Thank you to the author Heather D. Grace for an advanced copy of this book. I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.
The book is about Cassie and Derek. Cassie is a hunter of the supernatural because werewolves attacked and killed her parents and she wanted revenge. Derek is a stealer for keeping a shelter and he causes harm to his brother because of being a stealer. The story is all about trying to catch all the red-ringed eyes supernatural which is demons and the sorcerer. The unlikely pair of buddies bonded and the story continued with actions.

I rated it 4.5 stars because it could be better. More action, please! The romance is there only at the end, we get a small taste of it and it's gone. The cliffhanger is wonderful and leaves me wanting for more.

People who love some action, the werewolves and shifting will like this book.
Thank you to Heather D Grace for this copy of The Society's Hunter!

I do love to read imaginative and captivating stories. If you are in the same boat I would definitely recommend picking this up! The book was easy to read and understand, gave great descriptions of details without getting too bogged down.. Once I got my mind to believe in the “supes” and various “were-” creatures, I WAS HOOKED. This book is the epitome of a page-turner and the best part is that I could NOT predict where the plot was headed despite my best efforts to figure it out. Everytime I thought I had the next conflict mapped in my head, a believable twist came into play. These twists were not over the top or too dramatized but well-executed. Cassie is a strong, female lead and her thoughts lined up with my own on many occasions making her character relatable. The slow-burn romance built my anticipation the entire time and the only bad thing I could say about this book is there was only one main romance scene. I could have used more than one, but I suppose that builds the anticipation for the next two books! I cannot wait to read the next two and find out WHAT HAPPENS.

Vampires, shifters, demons, sorcerers and more...oh my!

This was a fun supernatural romance and a great introduction to the Hunters series. This story is a slowwwww burn with an enemies-to-lovers and grumpy/sunshine trope focus. I loved the book's take on The Society and protecting humankind from the supes. Along with Heather, readers find out that everything we know and love about the supernatural world may not be as it seems.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Heather and Derek (not to mention I've never heard of a wereleopard!) I wish that there had been more spice between the two of them, but it was worth it in the end. I'm hoping we only get more of their chemistry and banter in book 2!

I was happy to join the main characters on their journey to find The Sorcerer, save their friends and family...and hopefully bring things back to normal.....well, as normal as the supernatural world can be. ;)

This book is a good mix of supernatural action and emotional moments. Both good and oh lord moments lol.

The story follows a protagonist who becomes a Hunter after a tragic event in her past. As she tackle vampires, shifters, and a powerful sorcerer, the tension builds with the introduction of demons. I haven’t read many fantasy books. This is a fun way to dive head first into this world.

The slow-burn romance between the mfc and mmc, a wereleopard thief, adds an interesting layer to the story. Their relationship develops as they learn to work together and build trust, creating a nice balance between the action and character dynamics.

Overall, this book gives you a wild ride read filled with magic and adventure. With solid world-building and relatable characters, this book is a a good choice for fans of urban fantasy looking for an enjoyable escape! OR those want to jump into the world of fantasy!!

ARC Book Review: The Society’s Hunter by Heather D.Grace

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spicy: 🌶️

It took me awhile to get into this book but as the story line developed I was hooked! Paranormal Romance, Grumpy X Sunshine, slow burn, enemy to lovers with a twist that caught me off guard!

Cassie is a hunter of the supernaturals and has always believed that sups are monsters, but as the story develops her beliefs start to blur and the way she sees the world is in question.

Derek is from the supernatural world that is one of Cassie cases, but in a turn of events they put their heads together to solve an even bigger case. The banter between the two characters helps deliver that slow burn feeling through out the book! I can’t wait to see what Book 2 brings

In this story we meet Cassie who has become a hunter for the Society where she hunts and apprehends supernaturals who are wreaking havoc on the human world. Derek is a wereleopard that earns his money by stealing! They are thrown together by a need to help save those they love and protect those who don't know the need protecting

Once I got into this book I could NOT put it down! This book has found/chose family, supernatural beings, and a strong, if a little lost, FMC. I really enjoyed reading both Cassie and Derek's character development throughout the story and the slow burn enemies-lovers storyline is great! Derek has a great sense of humour and a lot of depth that isn't realised when you first meet him.

This book is plot and character development heavy BUT the story line is good and keeps you interested the whole way! You just know the next book is going to be awesome!

This book from the beginning to the end had me in a chokehold. I absolutely loved the characters in the book. Cassie is a very strong and stubborn young woman who is learning to not allow her hatred to get in the way of being able to push forward. I loved how, she didn’t let her emotions cloud her judgement. Derek I loved from the beginning. Derek is hard to take seriously due to his smugness from time to time. To learn that Derek is a huge compassionate young man who would do anything for the people he cared about! I absolutely loved that Cassie had to let go of the past and work on being able to open up and to work with others.

I’m trying hard not to at all spoil the book. I really loved the outcome of the story, the book does end on a major cliff hanger so the anticipated wait to get my hands on the next book are going to be hard.

Amazing Debut Book

Heather Grace has given us an amazing debut book and an even better start to an amazing trilogy. Once I started the book, I could not put it down. This story hooked me in and held me captivated until the end. It has a little bit of everything, paranormal romance, the grumpy x sunshine. We have a cop and a thief, shifters, a little enemies to lovers romance. All wrapped up beautifully. Cassie, a hunter in The Society, is basically a cop of the shifters, keeping them in check so they don't expose themselves to the humans. But when demons start possessing the supernaturals, and she has to partner up with one? Will she get all the answers she's looking for, or will she get more than she bargained for? These two go on an adventure down the paranormal road with a thriller twist that ends on a cliffhanger that will have you begging for book 2.

But when a rookie mistake costs her the capture, she notices a noted left behind offering to help her with other weird issues with the supernaturals in the city. Should she trust him? Would it be worth her while? Will she be able to capture him still and collect on the money?

This was a fun start to a new series. I enjoyed the world building and the character building that happened. Here are so many different twists and turns that this story takes. I enjoyed it all and can’t wait until the next books comes out to see what happens next.

omg omg omg.

you get thrown into this book and the world of supernaturals and it doesn’t let you go, not for one second. we follow cassie, who’s trying to take down a wereleopard, who’s a master thief.

every time i thought i knew where this story was going i was thrown a curve ball, we learn about the world of supernaturals as the story progresses and cassie gets new partners, and as more strange things happen.

cassie and derek’s banter is just what i wanted. of course we knew romance was coming but it was a slow burn due to how much cassie had/has against supes. which is understandable but it was amazing to see her see how normal and just like humans supes are as well.

her and lissa’s friendships is chefs kiss.

this book kept its grip on me and the ENDING OMG! i need book two stat.

Quote: “I would be a defender of all the people who didn’t even know they needed one.”

Review: I want to thank the author for allowing me to be an arc reader for this book. This was my first paranormal fantasy book and driving into werewolf and other supernatural creatures. I have been dying to get my hands on a shapeshifter book and let me say this book has it ALL. This book takes you along as Cassie a hunter works with a shifter named Derek. Will Cassie be able to look past Derek being a monster? Will this change Cassie’s image on supes? I had a hard time getting into this book at first but as the story line developed I found myself NEEDING to know what happened next. The Society’s hunter is filled with twists, turns and shock. Definitely give this book a try.

This debut by Heather D Grave has it all! Hidden supernatural world, secret police force defending society from supernatural shenanigans, found family and a hint of slow burn romance. The Society’s Hunter is book one of a brand new series and I cannot wait for more. Cassie has good reasons to think all Shifters are monsters and this belief works well for her in her role as hunter. But as the book develops maybe the lines start to blur a bit and Cassie starts to question her world views. She and her partners are investigating a sorcerer who is bringing demons into supernaturals and wreaking havoc. Can they get to the bottom of this and stop the sorcerer before it’s too late? Well this impressive debut ends on a cliff hanger so keep reading for more!

I received an ARC for this book.

It gives CSI and Bones with a side of Buffy The Vampire Slayer!

This book is about a girl named Cassie. Her parents were murdered by werewolves and since she seen the crime committed she was approached by “The Society” which is a band of people who police the supernatural. Cassie took a job with them and sets off to many cases of unruly supernatural creatures. She ends up partnering with a shifter thief named Derek that she was previously hunting.. of course a forbidden partnership.. to capture a supernatural of both their interest. This working relationship is definitely building up to more than just partners. It has lots of angst, banter and the slowest burn.
