One new-to-love vampire hunter. Several supernatural hotties who want to do more than train her. But with the world against her, can she find love?
I'm V. I was raised to be a kick-butt huntress of evil. I trained and honed my craft, putting the dead in undead, even when it was a cycle of just trying really hard not to die.
My substitute high school teacher, who looks like a gorgeous bad boy who’ll steal your car and snag your girl, hasn’t come to lecture students. He’s a Hunter like me. Worse, he drops a great big life bomb and says he’s the only one who can help me go after the very same people who made us Hunters, the Organization.
If that weren’t enough, my werewolf boyfriend—who I’m not allowed to date—and my brand-new uber sexy mentor (teacher?) can’t seem to get along. Don’t get me started on the sexy Brit or the pack of wolves my Shifter boyfriend failed to mention, all while revenge and secrets unravel in this shiz-storm I call my life.
With a target on my back and a super powerful Dark Fae out to assassinate me, it’s any wonder how a girl manages to date anyone, let alone several. Lucky me, right?
Brianna West is an Amazon Bestselling author. She eats words for breakfast. When not nose-deep in a hot paranormal read, she's writing about slick, muscly goodness and the bad-ass, sassy heroine goddesses who find them. Her stories drip with sarcasm, supernatural impossibility, and contain enough adventure and suspense to leave you at the edge of your seat all the way through.
Take a step--or leap--into her well-established world of the Guardians to meet the characters who gave life to a paranormal empire.
This book I really liked the World and creatures you find. I love that there is a mystery to the Vampire hunters. The fighting scenes are decent. The magic is fun, and I became very intrigued by a lot of the twists that happens. So the book had a lot of potential
And then the author make one of the biggest mistake she can do in my mind. She has a young woman (18-ish years old) being the female character, (which is fine I don't mind) but then she goes ahead and makes her act, talk and think like she is 12-13 and not soon 18 years old. And to really poor on the cringe it several times talks about how mature she is, when she is actually extremely immature. Doing this writing YA is no problem, but when you then add smut into the mix, it makes you really hesitate. And that should be the worst? Right?.... Oh no, your wrong. She then has the female do a smut scene with an authority figure in the FMC life. Making the scene full on icky, and I need a shower to scrub myself clean. (I skipped 99% of the scenes) Oh and the authority figure that is like super old also acts like he is just barely over 18 years old himself 🙄. And yes it does get worse, because he den starts to call him self daddy when flirting🤢.
Then the book is supposedly enemies-to-lovers. That is extremely exaggerated. Both main characters fall flat for each other at once. And the FMC just pretend she is not interested in the dude, because she is supposed to love another person. That is not enemies-to-lovers in my world.
Honestly, the author should have dropped the smut all together including smut talk and made it YA. And just called it a love triangle instead of Enemies-to-lovers. So the icky-ness goes away, and the big dissapointment of getting something total different than promised. Because the rest is not that bad at all. The rest was pretty decent.
But there where parts I had to jump over, because it did feel wrong.
I'm older, so I'm slightly biased when it comes to my heroines. I'll start with what I didn't like. The constant talk about their fingers in their hair. V's headspace is the same refrain through the whole book. She's constantly on herself about her own lust, second-guessing every fleeting thought or emotion, & swooning over every guy mentioned. It's ok to be a little flustered around an attractive person, but this is beyond what I would expect from a person with "training". At least they didn't smirk or smolder at each other the whole time. I did enjoy the plot. I do wish there had been flashbacks to what training sessions were like with Grams. She seems to get distracted easily, but that can be chalked up to youth. We don't see much detail on training or fighting, so I just kind of picture Buffy's fighting style, especially with the wisecracking. The characters themselves are intriguing, & the story is mostly fast-paced. Sometimes it feels like they barely have time to catch their breath! I am confused on one part, though. The Organization is weirdly hands-off with an asset as valuable as V seems to be. I would think it'd be smarter to monitor her upbringing closely, but it's like they've forgotten about her until just now. There's a pretty good spice level with this one- not too descriptively erotic, but not fade-to-black either.
Just gross. The FMC is 17 - the foremost MMC is over 200. She brings up valid concerns about being underage for the next few months and he reminds her that the age of consent is 16, so not to worry! The age gap would be an issue even with an MMC in their 20s, so someone centuries old acting like such a predator is wild.
Also, her grandma is just like this guy? This man more than a century older than myself and acting like a menace? Totally trustworthy, believe in him and his cause, absolutely worth it. She bemoans not being able to do anything to protect her daughter and son in law (or maybe her son and daughter in law?), and is horrified she couldn’t stop the Organization from experimenting on her granddaughter. You know what she could do? Not allow her granddaughter near a predator. Or, if that’s out of her hands, supervise!! Warn!! Malign!! Something!!
I can’t blame the FMC for her lustful ramblings, she’s 17! Let the girl live. But for the love of everything holy someone please protect her. Or not encourage predatory relationships like this one in fantasy romance books. Enough already.
The only redeeming factors are the quality of the writing, and the potential this could have had with an older FMC. This could’ve been a great read, but my insides twisted up so I couldn’t finish it. This could’ve been republished with a college-aged FMC easily enough.
Another book from Brianna West that I absolutely loved! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and I'd give it more stars if ratings would allow!
This is a paranormal romance. It is fast paced with a fun catching storyline. There's a lot of action/fight scenes. There's enemies to lovers, teacher/student, age gap romance, shifters, vampires, fae, magic, strong main characters and goblins! Yes I said goblins! The banter in between characters is chefs kiss great!
V our sassy feisty fmc who has been training since birth to be a vampire huntress. V meets a teacher who shows and gives her some truths. Simple you would think but what do you do when your world is turned upside down all a sudden!
Buying book 2 ASAP because I need to know what happens next!
Bought this thinking it’d be an easy, simple read.
Wannabe Buffy/Blade series.
The issue I had was the back and forth between the MCs. From the time they meet until towards the end their POVs are the same “should I”, “it’s a bad idea”, etc.
It wasn’t until they show another characters POV that we even know a good chunk of the lore around the Organization. That’s page 382!
If you’re looking for something 🌶️🌶️, check out another series. The intimate scenes are not detailed and do a fade to black situation.
Truly fun characters and a page-turning story. While I had a hard time believing the MC was only 17 with her insights into her own teenage struggles, the little spitfire captured my interest and held on.
The fight scenes, battle regalia, weapons, and magic are well-conceived, believable, and fun, blending well with the richly portrayed urban fantasy world. The side characters shine and add to the story and the MC's journey.
The MMCs are riveting in their individuality and how they each enhance the MC. The why-choose romance aspect is compelling and exactly the right amount of steamy.
What an absolute joke of a book. I hated every miserable page. Calling this ‘enemies-to-lovers’ is laughable, and ‘reverse harem’ is even more of a reach. She didn’t even end up with one guy, MUCH LESS MULTIPLE. It’s just endless teen angst dressed up like a plot — Twilight rewritten by a middle schooler with a wattpad account — and when the story dies (which is often), the author just throws in some sex like it’s a magic fix. 🙄 Give me a lobotomy already.
Now, I definitely did not hate this book by any means, but my GOODNESS bro it could’ve had so much more world and story building if they would just stop repeating everything every other chapter.. like girl we ALREADY know how y’all feel, why keep saying it over and over,,, anyway. Overall not bad, but could be better.
😜🔥If you want a vampire/ shifter/ paranormal romance packed full of action and spice. With kick a$$ MCs and leaves you wanting more, this is that book. I love this supernatural book, with it banter and fight action the system feelings. The spicy scenes🥵🥵😍, and I swear this author, Brianna can write some seriously hot MMC/ side characters, totally drool worthy! I highly recommend this book! Can’t wait to read the next one 10/10
Readable, but lots of repetition. The back and forth about being a good girlfriend to the guy she considers out of her league gets old - especially when it's clear she has the hots for the other guy. Feels like a lot of stuff happens too fast.
I just can't finish this one. So many things wrong. It is derivative, trying to be Buffy the Vampire Slayer. All of the characters are @$$holes. And then there is the high school girl and the centuries old dude. Yep, still gross.
I have so many questions by the end of this book. But this was a stay on your toes kinda book. I really liked it. But the unanswered questions are going to drive me nuts
Here’s the deal the storyline is fun the spice is spice-ing but…the way the author keeps changing the point of view and verbiage of the characters speaking is killing me! Ugh! You know the author is referring to a particular character and uses their name and in the next couple of words she refers to them as “the hunter.” Same with the words he/she. So you have to stop and reread and figure out who we are talking about. “The hunter” who is the hunter? Guess what it’s the same person she was just speaking about. It is so odd. It’s almost as if the words “the hunter” was supposed to be a place holder for a characters name before she thought of the name she wanted to use and then forgot to correct it during the editing process. It makes me almost want to skip the next book. It was challenging read due to this editing issue.
Im a sucker for a good vampire story/romance and am always looking for something a little different. I was not disappointed. Take a journey into a paranormal world of lies and deceit and things that go bump in the night with a perfect amount of spice and action thrown in for good measure.
V the strong sassy FMC grew up knowing she was a vampire huntress. Until she meets the sexy substitute teacher and he changes her whole world with a few simple truths. V learns that there is more about herself and the world around her than she has yet to learn.
If you are looking for a book filled with:
❤️🔥strong lead characters ❤️🔥sexy lead male (with tattoos) ❤️🔥enemies to lovers ❤️🔥age gap romance ❤️🔥why choose ❤️🔥touch her an die ❤️🔥teacher/student ❤️🔥shifters ❤️🔥and a sexy Brit ❤️🔥lots of action
When I first started this book, it reminded me of another vampire slayer from a 1992 movie BUT that quickly changed with the introduction of werewolves, goblins, and fae (oh my). The main female character(MFC) has been training since birth to fight vampires unaware that they are not the only creatures out there until her crush turns into a werewolf to help her, then her world implodes as she is introduced to a whole new world of magic and madness, between hybrid people and exploding goblin goo, V(MFC) is in a battle to understand her new reality and all the men in it. This is an awesome start to a new series, if you like PNR, steamy scenes and a bada** MFC this is a book you must read.

More superb world building of the paranormal kind from West. An easy transition into a different world for readers of her Promiscus Guardians series.
The characters, as always, are endearing, quirky, and suitably sexy. I loved being introduced to the many characters and species in V’s world… Especially, the love interests (no spoilers).
If you enjoy erotic paranormal romance, epic fight scenes, and love triangles (or squares), then this is the read for you.
This one ticks all my boxes: vampires, werewolves, fae, magic, spice, and slowburn. It's got humor but has its serious points as well, and the action will suck you in and makes you want to finish it in a single sitting. Most why choose books are really quick with everyone coming together, so I truly appreciate the slow build of this one and the amount of tension that it creates. So, so good and makes you want to dive into the next book right away to see what happens next. I highly suggest giving this one a try!
In the beginning of this book V is a seventeen year old girl who is a senior in high school. As well as being trained by her grandmother from birth to be a vampire hunter. It is a career handed down in the family. Most hunters can't reproduce on their own they need help. And the place that does it takes liberties with the DNA. She is so much more than what is thought. The spice is off the charts. As are the guys.

V for Vampire Hunter: A Steamy Enemies to Lovers Paranormal Fantasy Romance (Hunter V Book 1)
Wow! This was totally different than what I expected! The story was really good and really kept you on your toes, not knowing what was going to come next. It was a total delight though and one I would recommend to others.
This is my first book by this author and she does not dissapoint. West pens an amazing storyline that is sure to keep your fingers flipping pages until the very end! I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a nice fast paced amazing book. The storytelling and characters were on point I would leave 10 stars but they only allowed five! ❤️❤️❤️ its a MUST READ!
