From a young age, aspiring musician Jessica Baker has made it a point to never rely on anyone other than herself. After all, in her experience, people, along with success, are both fleeting. However, when Kai Halara joins her tour, all of her preconceived notions are demolished.

Kai is a failure in the eyes of his industry. Intending to use Jessica’s tour as a distraction while he determines his next move, he’s soon at war with himself. His mind tells him to stay away, but his heart—and body—demand the opposite.

Can their happiness survive when misunderstandings collide with electric attraction, and past drama resurges to threaten to destroy all they have created?

Claire lives in Los Angeles, so many of her stories are set there, too. But she is originally from Brookline, Massachusetts, so that location frequently pops up in her work, too. Claire spends her free time writing, doing animal rescue, and enjoying the sunshine. She specializes in writing romances of all kinds and never shies away from the “between the sheets” elements!

Look for the third and final book of the Redemption of the Gorgons series to be released in December, 2020!

I was completely swept up in Jessica and Kai’s journey, two fiercely guarded souls brought together by music and undeniable chemistry. I connected with Jessica’s independence and understood why she kept her walls high, which made watching her soften toward Kai all the more powerful. I felt the tension rise with every stolen glance and vulnerable moment, and I was rooting for them both to find more than just a temporary escape. I loved how the romance didn’t come easy, it was messy, full of hesitation and heartbreak, which made it feel real. I found myself holding my breath during scenes where trust was tested and past wounds resurfaced. It made me reflect on how hard it can be to let someone in when life has taught you otherwise. This story had me flipping pages with equal parts swoon and suspense. It reminded me that sometimes, love steps in when we least expect it, and that facing your past can be the bravest thing of all.

I recommend this book to readers who love emotionally driven romance with just the right amount of drama, depth, and slow-burn spark.

Cadence by Claire Davon is book 3 in the Lyrical Interludes Series by the author. This is a romance between Kai and Jess. Kai is an aging roick star and Jess is a 25 year old hoping to be a rock star. Jess and Kai meet while Jess is working on Kai's tour. They are instantly attracted to each other and fall into a relationship. But then things get rocky and secrets come out. Can they stay together in the music business or will theirs be a one hit wonder?
The story is fast paced, well written, and engaging from page one. The intimate scenes are steamy without going too over the top. I would read more of this series by the author!

This book is a journey through complexity.

In the world of contemporary romance, few books capture the intricacies of human emotions and relationships quite like this one does.

Set against the backdrop of the music industry, what stands out to me most through the story is the never-ending debate of desire versus friendship. The passion that comes from art is mirrored in the relationship, weaving a thematic tapestry that speaks to the heart of the creative experience.

This was cute. I love that we get to see real emotion from the characters. I’ve never read a book in a music setting, so that was different in a good way for me! I think if you like romance with not a lot of smut but a little something something you’ll like this. I need to go back and read the first two!

Thank you so much to @wildrosepress for sending me this for a honest review.

This was a steamy, fast-paced romance! It’s part of a series, but I read it as a standalone and I didn’t have any problems. It’s a short book so it didn’t take me long to read. I felt like the ending was kind of rushed though. The way the romance ended didn’t feel realistic to me.

Cadence is a great music-themed romance!
