I would definitely give this 3.75 stars but not sure how to do that on here! I would recommend this book but DEFINITELY check the trigger warnings! I enjoyed it but just didn’t like the ending. You were never told what happened to the MMC and the ending felt rushed to me!

Last Fix by Whitney Mayoral is a dark horror suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I finished the book in one sitting often finding myself holding my breath and/or clenching my jaw during the more intense parts. The importance of mental health is a huge theme in Last Fix and in that regard please take the time to read all the trigger warnings. Once I started reading I became so captivated by the FMC Sadie. The entire story is written from her first person POV which gave constant views into her perspective and thoughts. The character development of Sadie is one of the most moving but emotional parts of the novel. Mayoral wrote every character including side characters, Sadie, and the antagonist as multifaceted individuals. I found Mayoral’s depiction of trauma and addiction heartbreaking and a unique perspective from the first person POV. This book read with so much suspense with so many twists and turns revealing details I hadn’t seen coming. I enjoyed the book and if you are able to read the triggers I highly recommend.

When I started reading I wasn't sure I would be able to finish it. It's dark and suspenseful and not at all a typical read for me. Then I found myself lost in the pages and didn't put it down until I finished. I had to find out how it ended. I wasn't disappointed!

Check your trigger warnings! So much sexual abuse I had to skip over. Drug addict gets taken by a demented man, tortures her, keeps her, gets her pregnant. So much of the book is mainly that. It ends well and it is written well but it was not for me.

This was more of a dark thriller to me than dark romance. I wouldn’t classify it as super dark. The topic is dark, there definitely might be some trigger warnings for some.
You can expect a happy ending at the end of this.

I’m not a typical dark reader. But nothing in this book bothered me. There was just enough detail to what happened.

Sadie has an addiction and her addiction has her spiraling out of control because she’ll do anything for her next fix. Until she finds herself kidnapped and has no choice but to become clean and while she resist in the beginning of wanting to comply with her kidnapper eventually she’s fighting to stay alive and be found….

Has her family, friends given up on her though? Are they looking for her? Will her kidnapper let her go free? Will she forever be his prisoner?

Read the trigger warnings if you have any and again just know it’s more thriller than romance.

Whitney wrote this story to honor a loved one who lost their battle with addiction. Her vulnerability and raw emotion are evident. She draws you down into the murky depths of addiction, to the place where addicts often times find themselves alone, cast aside, their friends and families having grown tired of being lied to and stolen from and manipulated for the sake of the next high. And that is where both the reader and her abductor find her. As she is forced to get clean, her "savior" becomes her abuser. And yet she holds onto hope and develops a strength and tenacity that will have you closing the back cover and standing and cheering. Read the trigger warnings as this book has dark themes. This is not a love story, but it will inspire you to give that addict in your life an extra ounce of grace and compassion.

I’ll advised to read the trigger warnings of this story, yet if you feel comfortable I recommend supporting this is author. I have read all three of her books and I couldn’t be any happier to support her.

Last Fix is both heartbreaking, yet it’s courageous. This author explains the trauma Sadie (main character) undergo doing her captivity, will she survive the amount of trauma or will he take her life? Check this thrilling, unpredictable, heartbreaking story of Sadie and the events that unfold during her captivity.

Back again with another fantastic thriller by Whitney Mayoral, author of Twisted Pearls and Maggie. I will again start off by saying this book contains some trigger warnings, along with an awesome playlist insert, which I always find to be fun and unique additions that I’m seeing in more and more books lately. The story follows Sadie, a struggling drug addict who gets abducted by a nameless stranger, and is forced into sobriety while adjusting to her new captivity. As Sadie adjusts to her new sobriety and her will to live, Sadie must do what it takes to make it out alive, but who is this man? Why did he choose her and what does he want with her? This story has good build up and pacing, written in a way that doesn’t give away too much too soon, and leaves readers wanting to read the story through until the end. This is exactly how I felt with Sadie’s story and at times, I really felt like I was in the same room as Sadie, as if I was experiencing everything right there with her. A lot of the things that Sadie experiences are very dark, but so much of what she endures further strengthens her character development. If you know me, you know I appreciate the short chapters, which makes this a quick and easy read, in which I finished in two sittings.

Ultimately, I loved this whole book! Whitney hit it out of the park. When I say I wanted more, I needed a longer ending! It was amazing and I felt I was left wanting in those last 2 chapters! It just ended at a weird place! We had just experienced something very traumatic with her and all of a sudden, we are better... that isn't life. Where was the seeing her baby and realizing her future had completely changed, was that the turning point that led her to the epilogue we saw!? Or was it something else!? I am just saying, this book could have been perfection with 4-5 more chapters wrapping up her recovery, meeting of a new man, and the raising her son! I have already recommended this book to others but warned them the ending may not be how they want it. When they have finished it, they agreed, it needed more.

I am on this journey with Whitney and am so excited to see her growth! It is coming! The book that changes everything for her! I can't wait to be one of the first to read it! I am sad to say this one just wasn't it.

I read this book in one sitting, it was absolutely amazing, the twist was shocking and I gasped a lot. Sadie was a drug addict that got take away by this awful man and blamed her for what had happened. Sadie didn’t deserve what had happened, it wasn’t her fault, she deserved better…. Which at the end she finally got her true happy ending. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a dark thriller, but be ready to gasp, and be shocked. There are trigger warnings in this book. Whitney Mayoral is also the author of twisted pearls and Maggie. All of her books are well written and have lots of twists and turns

overall a great read

I liked the struggle and trials the MFC went through! Especially with her addiction and how it was alienating her from her friends family and work. It felt real. I was there in the thick of it with Sadie. I really felt her repulsion of John and her struggle with her growing feelings for a captor who ran so hot and cold! It’s empowering to watch Sadie grow and overcome her addiction, very inspiring. I do feel like the ending was rushed and felt a bit choppy.

Truthfully I wasn’t sure if I would like this but I loved it! Definitely check triggers because I’m sure for some people this is rough or hard to read. I love how the character development was. I wish tho at the end the epilogue would have said how many years later or what not instead of just saying she was married, dad died and she’s pregnant. lol I feel like a little more coulda been added to that part

3.5-4 stars. I didn’t hate this book at all but I didn’t love it either. The mentions of religion and the Bible were a little difficult for this ex-vangelical kid. I’m all for CNC but this was a little much for me. Other than the grape and religion, I really enjoyed this book. Well written, good character development and really enjoyed the epilogue! Anything keeping this from a 5 star rating is a me issue and no fault of the book or author.

Ok, so where to begin with this one.
First off, we only read the POV of the fmc, which is good and bad at the same time. I loved the progression of the fmc Sadie, her fight, her control, her motivation, she is very strong, and had to go through a lot of dark shit.
I would have liked to have had the pov of the mmc, just to understand him, I wanted to know his thoughts and especially his reasonings.
The situation that the fmc was in had me constantly reading, lots of twists and turns.

When you turn something horrible that happened into good things!

Sadie has fallen into the trick of..your first high is free *there's a reason for that* and quickly turns into a full-blown addiction! One night and a flat tire later..she finds herself kidnapped and inside the basement of an angry man bent on revenge..what she must do to survive..almost breaks her! The ending was quick but i enjoyed it! This definitely is an intense read so mind your triggers!

⚠️ Check the Trigger warnings ⚠️

I give this book 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was a roller-coaster of emotions. It was a psychological thriller, a Dark Stockholm romance, a suspense that keeps you guessing always on the edge of your seat type read. A type of life story on addicts teaching the reader how hard the addict is to love, the addict's life choices that lead to consequences whether good or bad, and the outcome that comes from life choices either way they choose to go.

4.25 stars. Definitely read the trigger warnings for this one, but an amazing read, finished it in one go! I thought the pacing was a bit rushed at the end, and I thought that the antagonist was a touch cartoonish at times, but for the most part he was a despicable villian and every word out of his mouth and everything he did made me want to throw the book across the room in the BEST WAY!

Can't wait to read more by this author!

Powerful message

I started to read this thinking it was something else, no I did not read the excerpt, but that being said it was a really good message. Or was entertaining and helped to see addiction in a different point of view. It broke my heart through out this tale. I cried with her and yearned for a happy ending. Even amidst our own engulfed lives there are others who notice us.

Last fix will take you on a dark, suspenseful and thrilling read with a twist. The detailed dialogue, character development, thoughts and feelings allow you to feel the words she writes and visualize the story, as if this was a movie. Many triggers but definitely worth reading. At no point did the story lose my interest and I was constantly excited to read more.

not what I expected

This is a single point of view thriller book. I expected dark romance (not sure why, I went in mostly blind) and initially got similar vibes to“better run” but this book never went that direction. I enjoyed the read but just know it is not a romance or even a Stockholm book it’s a thriller of will she make it out. There is a happily ever after but not in the way you think at all.

This was a great book. It was such a page turner that I finished it in one sitting. I felt like a fly on the wall which at times was an uncomfortable with the things that were going on in this story. You root hard for the FMC and boy was the MMC DEPRAVED. This was my first book by Whitney Mayoral but it won’t be my last.

Wow. I couldn’t put this book down. I was hooked right from the beginning. It goes into the harsh reality of drug addiction. Sadie FMC struggles with addiction badly, something happens and things get really bad. She has to make some really hard choices to survive. I won’t give away spoilers but I most definitely recommend it. Please check TW!!

Different than I thought it would be. I was hoping that John would turn out to be good and just taking her to help. Good book! I was so curious what was going to happen and I enjoyed hearing her thoughts and feeling about what was going on before she was taken and her struggles. I’ve never seen that side before.

This was a wild ride. While the things that happened in this dark thriller weren’t necessarily surprising, I didn’t feel like it was predictable either. I like the way Whitney writes. The story flows well and keeps you engaged. I enjoyed this book more than I expected honestly since I don’t gravitate towards darker books, but I do recommend people check trigger warnings first.
