The first time it happened, it seemed like an impossible miracle. Bills were piling up, adding up to more money than I could ever make. Mom's hospital bills. My baby brother's tuition. My tuition. Rent. Electricity. All of it on my shoulders. And I had just lost my job. There was no hope, no money in my account, no work to be found. And then, just when I thought all hope was lost, I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of ten thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just "VRI Inc.," and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing…except a single word, on the notes line: "You." Just those three letters.

If you receive a mysterious check, for enough money to erase all your worries, would you cash it?

I did.

The next month, I received another check, again from VRI Incorporated. It too contained a single word: "belong."

A third check, the next month. This time, two words. Four letters. "To me."

The checks kept coming. The notes stopped. Ten thousand dollars, every month. A girl gets used to that, real quick. It let me pay the bills without going into debt. Let me keep my baby brother in school and Mom's hospice care paid for. How do you turn down what seems like free money, when you're desperate? You don't. I didn't.

And then, after a year, there was a knock on my door. A sleek black limousine sat on the curb in front of my house. A driver stood in front of me, and he spoke six words: "It's time to pay your debt."

Would you have gotten in?

I did.

It turns out $120,000 doesn't come free.

Does this book even have a story to it? Or it is just about a bored rich guy wanting to bone and own the girl?

Some books you pick up knowing is going to have a good story with a lot of sex.. (a)

And some books you pick up knowing its going to be a good porno book with NO STORY.. (b)

I though this book was going to be (a) but it turned out to be (b)

Tits bounced, cock bounced.. she bounced, he bounced.. AND I FELT LIKE BOUNCING THIS BOOK OUT OF MY WINDOW

The amount of graphical description we got about his cock's movements were VERY CREEPY

THERE WAS NO STORY.

This book was only about sex and orgasm.. and not even a good porno book.

Jasinda Wilder promises a great book in the blurb, but there is no good story to back the blurb up!!

EG- STRIPPED**

When you read the blurb you expect sooo much, I kept checking for an early release everyday.. thats how excited I was for this book.

My God, Horrendous story. This book had nothing. Except sex and mental ownership talks.

I wanted to DNF this book at 80% because YET NOTHING HAD HAPPENED.. Then some shit was thrown in, which I knew.. because it was pretty obvious.. very type

I didn't enjoy this book.
The author writes well, but she didn't have a story for this book.

Its harsh, but its true.

I think the problem with this book is not the sex overload. Because sex is never too much :D :D
The main problem were the MCs and their conversations. This book could have been a lot better when somebody just gaged them.

Overall it was just

Kyrie has to take care of her mother and brother and has serious financial problems. One day she receives a check. What does she do? She cashes it of course. The checks keep coming each month for a whole year. Well and then someone comes for her to collect her. Because now she has to pay her debt. That's the way how she ends at Roth house. She is now his . I will safe the details and get straight to the point.

Some of the things which Roth said to her made me nearly gag :D It was hilarious, yes. But it was in no way sexy

“So perfect, Kyrie. Your pussy is like a flower, pink and pretty and begging for me to open its petals.”

He had also a very uncommon definition of foreplay

“It’s not punishment, love. It’s foreplay.”
“Keeping me on the edge of orgasm isn’t foreplay, it’s cruelty.”

Can't argue with that. But the real cruelty was that I had to read that shit and his "foreplay" went on for a few pages :D

But at least he was a charmer

"You’re flushed and nervous and the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, and you smell like expensive wine and good food and pussy."

He wasn't just cruel at foreplay. He was like that even during their first time. I cried happy tears when he finally allowed her to come.

Of course there was lots of sex. But it seemed even more because the sex always dragged over a couple of pages just because he never allowed her to come. At least the wait payed off..

“I’m dead.” I was limp in his arms, barely able to even form words, still shaking with aftershocks. “You killed me. You fucked me dead.”

One of the most amusing parts was this one:

“You want it deep, don’t you?”
“Yeah.”
“How deep?”
“All the fucking way, baby."

a few pages later...

“God…damn, you’re so deep, baby, I almost can’t take it.”
“You’ll take it. You want it all, remember?”

How could I forget?

again a few pages later...

“Oh.” I could only gasp that single syllable.
“You want it all?” Roth demanded. “You want it deep?”
“Yes…yes.”
“Then take it….”

...

“Like this,” he grunted, “hard and deep?”
“Yes,” I panted, “fuck, yes.”
“That’s my girl…I love the way you take my.."

... yes it's still the same chapter and the same sex..

“Tell me what you want, Kyrie.”
“I want your cock, Valentine.”
“Tell me how you want it.”
“Harder. Deeper.”
“My girl wants it harder?”
“Yeah, baby. Give me more.”

For those who didn't get it by now: She wanted him deep inside her

The twist in the end was totally predictable. But I didn't care about the twist much. The rest of the book was a lot more worse than the predictable ending. I was just glad that I finally finished it..

Introduction
I'm not going to tell you what the story is about or what happens, I'm just going to give you a little insight about what I thought of the book.

This book has me so torn up about how to rate it!
The first 44% was an absolute mess, I say that with the utmost respect! Our blue eyed and blonde heroine was ditsy and sounded like a 13 year old, our hero creeped me out. It was like he was the love child of Hannibal Lechter and Mr Darcy, 100% weird. None of the events that happened made sense, everything was way too extreme. The heroine felt like her choices were taken away, but I'm telling you right now she always had a choice. She was either too stupid, or perhaps the author needed to give me, the reader, a more solid reason to explain some of the heroines thought processes and decisions.

I'm going to digress a little.
I think my entire attitude before I started reading this book set me up for disappointment, I've read Wounded by Jasinda Wilder. For me that story was poignant and really touched me. So when I saw the upcoming release and read the blurb I immediately put this book on a pedestal. Huge mistake.

Let's get back to the book.
Now I'm an avid reader of erotica, and I feel this book is just that, pure erotica. Amazingly, hot, titillating and well written erotica! I felt the plot and characters were not introduced to me, the reader, correctly. The last thing I want to read about is a stupid heroine and a weird hero having sex. Thing is if you can get past that first 44% you'll see how the story comes into it's own. Those unstable legs it started on become well rooted tree trunks. Gathered the plot was somewhat lost with all the hot sex happening but the story became gripping.

I was wrenched from indifferent boredom to aroused interest. Don't get me wrong there's a definite plot here, and pretty awesome twist. The only fault I could find in the last 66% of the book would be that because the author spent so much time building her characters(which could have been better done),in the beginning the ending felt rushed, all this new and ground breaking information was thrown at me. But it was still satisfactory. For me...

The one thing in life I’d learned was that nothing was ever free.

Alpha is much different than many other Jasinda Wilder books. First off, it was her hottest book yet, but it also was missing something that I’ve come to expect from her. The emotion. I always know when I’m reading a Jasinda book, I’ll have a major case of the feels and I love that! This is more erotica, less emotional. You should go in with that in mind.

Kyrie St. Claire has been struggling for years. Ever since her father was killed, she has been the provider for her family. Dealing with her mother and paying her and her brothers tuition has put her in the hole financially. Now she has just lost her job and she is screwed. The day that feels like the end for her and she finds a check. A check for $10,000 in her name. She doesn’t know what to do with it... but she cashes it. She’s desperate. For the next 11 months, a new check comes. Every month $10,000 until the year is up. In the memo of the check, one thing stands out-
You belong to me.

After the year is up, our Kyrie is collected to meet her benefactor. She’s terrified. She doesn’t know what to do or what to expect. This man doesn’t want to hurt her, but what does he want?

description

Our mystery man is very secretive. He won’t let Kyrie see him until there is trust there. She remains blind folded in his presence. Kyrie is confused by her feelings. At first, she’s scared. That’s a natural feeling going into something like this. The more she talks to him, the more she feels like he really is no threat. That he is what he says he is. A very rich man who only wants her. Even when he tells her he has a secret, she looks past it, for now.
“I am keeping a secret from you, Kyrie. A very deep, very dark secret. One that affects us both, and one that will change the very fabric of our relationship.”

description

Even blindfolded, Kyrie can’t control the attraction she feels for this man. It takes time, but she begins to trust him and he can tell. She is spoiled by him, and he wants nothing but to please her. He is sinfully sexy. And this book is seriously hot!
“I’ll make good on everything I say. But I want you crazy for me. I want you mad with need. I want you ready to explode from one touch.”

“I already am.”

“Oh, love. You have no idea. I’m going to spend every moment from no until I have you in my bed making you crazier and crazier.”

description

Just as trust is developed between these two, will the secrets he’s holding break it?

I never in a million years thought I would think this, but I felt like there was a little too much sex some of the time. I know- right? Is that even possible? I wanted a little more from the story, especially towards the end. There were many parts I enjoyed- I liked watching the secrets unravel and I did enjoy the ending.

Jasinda’s writing is always top notch and it was a very sexy story, it was just missing something for me. But if you’re looking for an erotic standalone with a HEA and fabulous writing, this might be just what you’re looking for!

“You are mine. You will always be mine. And I take care of what is mine. So if you do walk away... you will have no worries. Never again.”

“You’re here because I own you, Kyrie.”

It is with great sadness and disappointment that I write this review today. I have loved every single book that I have ever read by this particular author, her stories always having the power to transport me into a world where all my senses are heightened, my emotions no longer my own, a world where I become one with the characters. However, that was not the case with this book. From reading the excerpts, I was certain this story would be right up my alley, never doubting for a second my overall enjoyment of it. But I guess not all stories are for everyone, and this one simply was not the one for me.

“I own you but you will submit to me willingly.”

The premise of the book itself is pure brilliance. Kyrie, a girl struggling to make ends meet—the only provider for a mother who requires constant medical attention, and a younger brother who is still in college—receives a mysterious but desperately needed cheque in the mail with no accompanying explanation. The cheques keep arriving month after month, their substantial value allowing Kyrie not to worry about money for the first time in her adult life, but the mystery behind them never lessens, four cryptic words on the first three cheques making it certain that nothing in life comes for free: You Belong To Me. And that there would come a day when someone would eventually come to collect.

“What—what are you going to do to me?”
“Everything. But nothing you won’t enjoy.”

A year later, her ‘benefactor’ sends for her, her compliance never being in question as the alternative of paying back the funds is unfeasible, and so the real mystery begins. A world of opulence and luxury, her every need and want met, an excessively affluent but tenaciously private man behind it all, whose attentiveness is only matched by his insistence on withholding his identity from her and gaining her trust first—the story is unravelled slowly and methodically, the chemistry between them being and remaining the focal point of the story itself.

“Have you ever really given yourself to a man before? I don’t think you have. And certainly never to a man like me.”

And so we set sail on this erotic adventure with no known course ahead of us or compass to guide us, no clue whether it would be a bumpy ride or relatively calm waters all the way, simply letting ourselves indulge in every scintillating interaction between the main characters, the constant enigma of the whole situation designed to keep our hearts racing page after page. It is a story of sexual discovery as much as it is a mystery for us to unveil, Kyrie’s gradual but willing submission to a man she knows nothing about except her own body’s reaction to him driving the story forward and setting its pace. It is first and foremost a game of sexual frustration and domination, the erotic component of the storyline overshadowing all others, even character development at times, leaving no doubt in my mind as a reader that the purpose of this story is to titillate the senses, rather than engage the mind.

“You can scream as loud as you want, sweet thing. No one can hear you.”

Regrettably, though, my senses remained unaffected. As ‘out there’ as some sex scenes were, I failed to feel anything more than a slight shiver from time to time, their mood never quite reaching my sensory receptors. And I was desperate to FEEL. I found myself wanting to skim over the most intimate scenes between them, making me question my own sanity in the process. I never connected with either of the leading characters, nothing in their given traits appealing to me on a personal level or making me understand their actions. Their behaviour felt erratic, disjointed at times, the heroine’s in particular as hers is the only voice we get to hear. Her awkward internal monologues designed to give us an insight into her feelings and doubts made me cringe, their pseudo-philosophical tone sounding out of place and forced to serve the storyline rather than providing a foundation for it. I never understood either character, simple as that, and I wish more time had been spent on moulding them into credible human beings instead of inundating our heads with unnecessary references to pop culture, garments worn by the characters or exclusive brand names. They added nothing to the overall mood of the scenes, other than a level of superficiality that I am not sure this story demanded. The entire story overflows with details, conflicting ones at times, and lacks the actual ‘glue’ keeping it together.

“It looked a bit like the dress Jennifer Lawrence wore to the SAG awards.”

When the time came to ‘assemble’ it all, the backstory plotline felt sudden and rushed, almost as if it did not belong in this book, and I walked away dissatisfied, unmoved, frustrated, never wanting to hear the words you are mine again in my life. And I am still unhappy. I am unhappy that this story is so inconsistent with this author’s previous works, I am unhappy that this industry is tailoring the stories that are written rather than the other way around, and I am unhappy that I am unhappy. Because all I sought was an escape and the only thing I wanted to escape from were these characters. But I also have no doubt in my mind that this book will find its willing audience that will love every moment of it.

Please note: This review may not be reproduced or quoted, in whole or in part, without explicit consent from the author.

And remember: I am not here to judge your drag, I mean your book. Books are art and art is subjective. These are just my personal thoughts. They are not meant to be taken as broader commentary on the general quality of the work. Believe me, I have not enjoyed many an excellent book, and my individual lack of enjoyment has not made any of those books less excellent or (more relevantly) less successful.

Further disclaimer: Readers, please stop accusing me of trying to take down “my competition” because I wrote a review you didn’t like. This is complete nonsense. Firstly, writing isn’t a competitive sport. Secondly, I only publish reviews of books in the subgenre where I’m best known (queer romcom) if they’re glowing. And finally: taking time out of my life to read an entire book, then write a detailed review about it that some people on GR will look at would be a profoundly inefficient and ineffective way to damage the careers of other authors. If you can’t credit me with simply being a person who loves books and likes talking about them, at least credit me with enough common sense to be a better villain.

*******************************************

I might be coming to the end of my “read every piece of random erotic romance that has accumulated on my kindle over the years” sesh. Which is probably good for everyone concerned.

From the other reviews, it seems like this book was … err … not so well received. Largely because of the premise which—depending on perspective—is deemed either too wild or insufficiently explored.

But coming off the back of my recent reading diet? And the book where an editorial assistant is not only somehow trusted to be the primary editor for a supposedly prestigious and bestselling author but is ALSO then dispatched to his home because he missed a deadline … honestly? I barely batted an eyelid here.

“Oh, someone is sending a young woman in financial crisis monthly cheques of ten thousand dollars and now has sent someone to ‘collect’ her so she can pay her debt to him?” COOLBEANS.

There is no getting away from the fact that this premise is … notably creepy. Even for the subgenre of erotic romance which is specifically focused on a rich guy getting to have a controlling relationship with a hot woman it’s creepy. Except I think I just find Jasinda Wilder a really skilled and convincing writer in general (I mean I found Madame X deeply compelling even though my jaw was practically glued to the floor when I read that book) so I … go with things I wouldn’t ordinarily go with.

Which I’m retrospectively feeling a bit weird about given that nobody else on Goodreads seemed to like this book at all. And they are not … not wrong? I mean, the nominally British hero talks like a verbose psychopath (omg? Maybe I identified?) and he literally uses his socioeconomic power to coerce a woman into a … a … situation where she agrees to be owned by him. Which isn’t remotely sexy.

Except … it … it kind of is? A bit? Because his version of ownership is catering to all her sexual and material needs, while also being mostly polite and soft-spoken. And I know in practice this would be dreadful but I’m … quite tired right now? And I reckon I might be up for it? I mean, the book is mostly a nonstop consumerist fuckfest: equal parts mildly kinky sex and billionaire lifestyle porn. There’s even some explicit Pretty Woman references where he dresses her up to the nines and takes her to the opera, except the jewellery is very much not on loan, and she’s too distracted by the fact he’s fingering her for La Boheme to become part of her soul.

Actually maybe I wouldn’t do so well under the yoke of billionaire ownership. I’d be pretty narked if someone tried to me finger me during La Boheme. Manon Lescaut, fair enough.

I think the other thing that made Alpha (why is it called Alpha?) compelling for me in ways that it shouldn’t be was that it also contains a series of sort of mysteries. One big central mystery regarding the hero’s connection to the heroine (which is super obvious as the only possible connection it can be once you get her backstory) but also a series of smaller mysteries: what is his name, what does he look like, why is he like this. To the latter, we never really get an answer (not that you need an answer to “why so kinky”, but I think you definitely need an answer to “why this overwhelming need to explicitly own another human being, hmm?”) just that he’s very very private and that his hyper rich daddy didn’t let him inherit the vast wealth he didn’t actually earn.

I mean, I don’t know if this was supposed to be tragic or messed up somehow but, essentially, when the hero turned eighteen his father, having given him a lavish and loving childhood, sent him off with 100k and a fancy car, telling him he could return any time but that he had to make his own fortune. Maybe I’m missing something but … this seems entirely fair to me? Like inherited wealth is a huge social problem. And most people do not start their adult lives with 100k and a fancy car. I left home with £50 and a train ticket, and this has not engendered in me a need to possess women. In any case the hero seems to take his father’s suggestion that he earn his own fortune to be an open invitation to go into arms dealing (although he is currently doing something else): and while I do appreciate the book nodding towards the fact that most extremely wealthy people have not obtained that wealth by snuggling kittens and being kind … it’s mostly drowned out by all the LOOK AT THE COOL SHIT YOU GET TO HAVE AND DO AND WEAR IF YOU’RE RICH.

So I guess we don’t really get much … context to the whole ownership thing. Maybe it was just supposed to be a kink, or the only way this guy can express his love, and nothing more than that, but there’s such a gap between “I like to be a bit controlling” and “I want to literally own you” that I couldn’t reconcile it for myself. And I’m not sure the degree to which the book was aware of the gap or interested in it if aware. It doesn’t help that the heroine is only so-so on the whole ownership concept and a lot of the time felt *genuinely* resistant to being made to beg rather than just, you know, paying kinky hard to get. By the end of the book, she’s decided she’s definitely into it and there’s definitely some wrangling around “it’s okay to want something you don’t think you should want” but … again … I kind of fell down the gap between “it’s okay to want something you don’t think you should want” and “maybe she just doesn’t want this?”

In the plus column, though: the hero has a rainbow shower, there is equal opportunities anal play (I’ve just read about 5 erotic romances in a row that have treated the male arse as sacrosanct) and a gloriously hot … err … hand kissing scene. Although that latter might just be a me thing. Any kind of take on a glove-removal and I’m THERE. This is a couple of solid pages and—for me—worth the price of admission alone. To be honest, it’s so delicious that none of the subsequent sex could quite top it. But, again, that might just be me. Like not in a hand fetish way. I just … read Lord of Scoundrels at an impressionable stage of my romance reading career and have never got over it.

Look, I honestly don’t know how to conclude my thoughts about Alpha. I … I enjoyed reading it even though … even though it’s clearly also … messy to the point of irredeemably problematic. But I think maybe my enjoyment came down to the genuine skill of the author in holding my attention rather than anything about the book being, y’know, a good idea. I’m also slightly irked to discover it’s grown into this sprawling series of … what … 6 … 7 … books? Because it ended on a HFN that I personally found kind of perfect. Something else that is probably very much a me thing.

And finally because it is impossible for me to read an erotic romance these days without tripping over something I find personally bewildering, try this:

“There’s no way in hell I can take you back there,” I told him.

He shook his head. “No, I know that.”

We’ve been told the hero is mightily hung for the whole book but… like … seriously. How big is this man’s dong that it won’t fit up her bum? I mean, okay, obviously the implication is that she just doesn’t want it there—which is completely reasonable, we all get to choose what objects go in which of our orifices—but the way it’s written makes it seem as if it’s this absolute physical impossibility for her anus to encompass his penis. Which made me concerned, both for her arse and for his dick. And then gave me the giggles as I tried to imagine a penis of such stature that any attempt at anal ingress would rupture the space-time continuum and destroy the universe as we know it.

Come back that book that described the hero’s wang as thicker than a Pringles can. All is forgiven.

PS - I am not obsessed with anal. But m/f is often SO WEIRD about it.

Ladies, be prepared to jump straight into a cold shower when you finish this book, because it is H.O.T!!

4 STARS FOR KYRIE & HER MYSTERY MAN!

So, as usual, I have to start this Jasinda Wilder review off by professing my undying love for the woman herself. I absolutely adore her work.

However, I have to say, this book was quite a lot different than what I've come to expect when I open one of her novels. Usually, I would expect high emotion, heart-wrenching plot lines and an all consuming story. And I have to say, I didn't get that from Alpha. It didn't make me blub and it didn't rip my heart from my chest... but my God did it make me hot and bothered.

"Please..." Who needs dignity when you can have public orgasms?

This book is straight up erotica! It's sex, steamy hot foreplay and more sex! And it's utterly delicious! If you're looking for something sexy and erotic, look no further.

"I don't have money to pay him back. I never will."
"He isn't interested in money."

Kyrie St. Claire is struggling, when she loses her job. But when a cheque for ten thousand dollars appears in the mail, she cashes it and pays off her debts. So when a new ten thousand dollar cheque appears each month for a year, she continues to cash them.
And then a strange man turns up on her doorstep to 'collect' her. Her mysterious benefactor has sent for her to pay off the money he has given her.

You belong to me.

Now, I'm not going to tell you much about our Mr. Moneybags, because I loved the mystery of this book. You are kept in suspense for a long time as Jasinda Wilder drip-feeds you bits of information about our book hero.

"I am keeping a secret from you, Kyrie. A very deep, very dark secret. One that affects us both, and one that will change the very fabric of our relationship."

But what I will tell you is that he is smokin'!! Seriously, here we have a man who was just built to pleasure a woman. He's attentive, talented, rich, successful, confident and.... huge!!!

"One word out of you, and I'll snap. I'll pull into the nearest alley and fuck you where you sit. You're flushed and nervous and the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and you smell like expensive wine and good food and pussy. I'm barely holding onto my restraint right now."

Kyrie is great. She has worked hard to look after herself, her sick mother and her younger brother, for years, growing up before her time. She is fiercely independent, ballsy and down to earth.

"I was sexually propositioned by Mr. Edwards."
"Shut the fuck up."
"He said I could keep my job if I sucked his cock. I mean, he didn't say it in so many words. But he made it clear... by pulling his dick out."

She is completely overwhelmed by this mystery man, his home, his posh accent and the game they are playing together. She starts off scared and resistant but eventually starts to give in to his control.

"You're here because I own you, Kyrie."
"What - what are you going to do to me?" I hated how weak, how afraid I sounded.
"Everything." His voice was thick with promise. "But nothing you won't enjoy."

If I had a complaint, it would be that there was too much sex. God, I can't believe I'm saying that, because I do love a bit of smut, but seriously, these two were at it like very horny bunny rabbits. This couple give Christian and Ana, and Gideon and Eva a great run for their money. And they're kinky too!

"Jesus...I haven't even had coffee yet."
"You don't need coffee, babe. You just to take this vibrator up your ass for me."

This is a stand-alone adult, erotic romance with a happy ending. And the ending will have you flipping pages quicker than your eyes can adjust to! The first 50% was good, but I couldn't put this down from 50% on. I had to know the secrets, I had to unravel the mystery! And I just wanted more of our mystery man. I wanted to know him more, I wanted him to open up and bare himself. And I got that. I loved the ending. It was just enough to fill in all of the blanks, but it also left me wanting more. I love it when a book does that!

So, overall, this was superbly sexy, engaging and completely intriguing. I'd have liked a little more emotion and a little more of a Jasinda Wilder stamp on it, which is what I've deducted the star for. But I'd highly recommend this book to all smut and erotica lovers. You will not be disappointed if you enjoy your books heavy in the nookie department!

The problem was reconciling head, heart, and body into one decision that would affect the rest of my life.

Alpha was a book I chose to read because I was looking for an Alpha. And as much as I’d like to say I found one in Mr. Valentine Roth, it’s sucks to say that I didn’t. Don’t get me wrong he had some alpha-esque moments, but it wasn’t enough to feed my need. But in whole it was the story that just felt like it was missing something. With the plots delivered, the follow through on all areas not just the main characters, weren’t there and left me wondering. It was different and it is one you have to take it as it is, I finished it just to find out what happens next.

3.25 Underwhelmed Stars

Alpha is an erotic love story between Kyrie St Claire and Valentine Roth. It details Kyrie as a struggling young woman trying to maintain a job to support herself, her brother's schooling and her mother's hospital care. She is steps from eviction when she starts to receive anonymous checks in the mail. Each check $10,000 with no note from sender....just one word in memo. So, she cashes them one at a time each month. Until a year later when a man comes to collect the debt. He now owns her. Who is this man? Why did he give her $120,000? How is she to repay him?

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Well, I started this book so freaking excited. I've enjoyed several of Ms Wilder's books in the past, so when I read she was taking a more erotic alpha angle, I was counting the days. It had a great mystery to it as Roth wouldn't let her see him at first. She was blindfolded by the man that collected her and was always blindfolded in Roth's presence. I was DYING to see him too. But he wanted to establish that trust first and foremost. He got trust...and a lot of attraction too from her. Amazing what happens when a sense is taken away. His smell, his voice, his feel was arousing to her.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

The book started out strong for me. It had a great balance of mystery and intrigue to it. Steam quickly ensued and I thought "Hot damn! It's going to be good!" Unfortunately, as the book progressed, I felt the story went way flat at the expense of all the sex scenes. I literally thought this was going to be a 4-5-star read until literally 95%. It's like someone said, "Jasinda, you have 2 seconds to wrap this up!" Two paragraphs later, book ended. Huh? Just one quick fix and it's done.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

There is a bonus "scene" a few pages after the end. If the author hadn't told me it was there I'd have missed it. But that scene angered me even more because I was hopeful for an epilogue out of it. Gimme something here! How does this really end for them? Nope, it was an added sex scene. A sex scene I found myself skimming just the dialogue part and found it a bit comical. If I hear she is so tight and he is so huge one more time! How did I feel in the end? Cheated.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I get it. Your cock is big already!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I guess I just didn't get that turned on by their bedroom talk. What's that, you say?

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Apparently so!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

So, in the end, I'm sticking with her books with more meat (pun entirely intended)....more emotion. Wounded was stellar. There's authors that excel in a great story with great background setting but less in sex...that is Jasinda's strength, in my opinion. To go the erotica end, I need more meat to the story or just a different kind of spice. It started out hot hot hot but...

Moving on.

And I thank you,

PEPPER & MICHELLE'S JOINT REVIEW

PEPPER: God.
I don't know where to start... I'm like:

MICHELLE: I know. I've always known Jasinda can write sex. I mean most of her books have really hot sex.
But this.
I am so glad I sell vibrators because I wore. mine. out.

PEPPER: UM. me too. I started humping my kindle to help out. A few times. It was not my prettiest moment, but Jesus Christ, I couldn't help it. It was almost like:

MICHELLE: I’m totally with you on that one, bestie. I mean there were positions in there I still can’t figure out. I need JasWild to draw me a picture guide for this one.

PEPPER: Seriously! I had to reread one of the scenes - I mean for obvious reasons - but also to make sure I was picturing it correctly. I can't even imagine what goes on in the Wilder bed room!!

MICHELLE: Right?!

So- we can't give away anything about the plot because it just needs to be experienced. But I will say I was really glad to see an erotic novel have a solid plot. And an interesting one! I really loved the story. But I admit, it was sometimes hard to focus when the sex was SO HOT. But realIy, I totally found myself loving the plot.

PEPPER: I agree 100%. There was a ton of ridiculously and insanely and throbbing sex. It was beyond. BUT... this was NOT just a porn book. At all. That is why I love JasWild. She actually can write a story with crazy amazing SEX. It's the best. She's like an anomaly. I loved this whole book. All of it. I just feel like this right now:

MICHELLE: Absolutely. It was amazing.

This book had a major twist in it that I thought was so creative and interesting. And even though I kind of started to suspect things- it was still so well done and emotional. Seriously. JasWild is just so talented.

PEPPER: I have to say I was so caught up in all my panting and writhing that I didn't figure things out until just before it all unraveled.

MICHELLE: Ha!!

One of my favorite things about this book was Kyrie's inner dialogue. Sometimes the inner thoughts of a character can be so lame but I thought she was hilarious!

PEPPER: OMG!! I LOVED Kyrie!! So much. She cussed, she was a smart ass and she is my new best friend.

MICHELLE:Wait, what?

PEPPER: OMG! Kidding. No one ever tops you lover!!

MICHELLE: You know what- it’s ok. I can’t even blame you because Kyrie was awesome.

PEPPER: She was. But speaking of best friends - PLEASE JasWild give us a book about Layla!! I loved her as much as Kyrie.

MICHELLE: Yes Layla cracked me up!!!

So I highlighted a couple of things Kyrie and Layla said. And one of my favorites was when Kyrie was talking about overly buff guys. She's basically in my head and everything she thinks sounds like something I would say. For example this monologue about super buff guys.

"Plus, why do you need to be that big? Do you go around lifting heavy things all day? Do you routinely need to lift a 400 pound...thing?"

I died.

PEPPER: YES!! I loved that. They were both individually hilarious and hilarious together.

MICHELLE: Ok- one last thing before this just turns into us babbling about how much we love JasWild- especially since we can't really tell you much about the book without spoiling things for you.

I loved Alpha. Like I loved everything about him. And I LOVED the way JasWild built the mystery around him.

PEPPER: I did too. It was a quick read, but honestly she writes such great characters that I will not be forgetting about these two for a long time.

PS I don't know if I mentioned it yet, but JasWild - please give Layla a book. Thanks!! ;)

MICHELLE: Oh yes please.

PEPPER: WAIT!! One really last thing. The cover!! This is one of the best covers to ever cover! It just is perfect. But you have to read to find out why. I mean the cover alone is amazing, but after you read the book. Mother Hugger. Best cover 2014. Right here!!

MICHELLE: Agreed!!

So there you have it lovers. JasWild hits it out of the park, yet again. This is an amazing book that is sexy, smart and sexy. Did we mention sexy? Cause it is sexy.

So get to one clicking!!

Very nearly two stars, but overall a big disappointment.

Sometimes my real life friends recommend me trash. As as much as I dearly love those friends, I will forever be a little frosty that I had to read this shit. Or not HAD TO I guess. But we recommend each other books all the time. And they aren't typically this level of garbage, so I feel I have to at least try.

Anyway, Alpha is a heaping stack of mediocrity and outright idiocy. None of the characters' actions make a lick of sense. If a strange man shows up at your house to "collect" you, but allows you to go into the bathroom to get ready and BRING YOUR CELLPHONE, then you have literally no reason not to call the police. But no, by all means, admire your naked body in the mirror instead.

I'm getting ahead of myself. I suppose I should at least mention the plot before I bitch about it too much. Also, SPOILER WARNING! Not that there's much to spoil. The plot isn't here to surprise you.

Kyrie St. Claire is running out of choices and luck. Supporting her ailing mother and collegiate brother, freshly fired from a temp job and nearly out of food, behind on all her bills and nearing eviction, it seems like a miracle when a mysterious check comes in the mail. $10,000 at the time she needs it most, with only a scrap a paper that says "you" as explanation.

What would you do?

The rest of the book plays out predictably - a rich, mysterious, and Norse god level handsome man (who is harboring "a very deep, very dark secret", naturally) cashes in on his loan. He insists he just wants the pleasure of Kyrie's company, keeping her blindfolded and refusing to tell her the why behind any of it.

He insists isn't not a sex thing.

But surprise.

It's a sex thing.

Big secrets are revealed, obscenely grandiose wealth is flaunted, characters act and speak in ways no one ever would and, of course, they orgasm if the wind blows their way.

Let's see what else. Special dumbass award for the BFF Layla who straight up lets her friend get kidnapped, and is pretty cool with it. Actually, dumbass award for Kyrie too - for refusing to apply for welfare or accept charity, for degrading sex workers when she's literally doing the same thing, and for not once attempting to call the police.

I'm also not a fan of the lackluster character development of Kyrie's family - they only exist to be financial burdens and roadblocks for her. Her mother has schizophrenia and has to have specialized care for it. And it's only there to make Kyrie's situation worse. The book doesn't give a shit about the character or Kyrie's relationship with her at all.

”Then why…like this?” I gestured to the blindfold, and then away, meaning the way I was picked up. “Why the checks? Why the hired goon saying he was ‘collecting’ me? Why the blindfold and the…the mysteriousness? Why? If you wanted me, why not simply arrange to meet me?”

Which brings me to the big WHY behind it all, the linchpin of our story - after chapter after chapter of vagueness, it's revealed that it's because he met her once and thought she was hot. For real. Plus, he killed her dad. So instead of setting her up with a trust fund or being in any way ACTUALLY HELPFUL to her, Roth deliberately set up a scheme of checks that would leave her indebted to him, uproots her entire life, threatens to take the money away, insists it's not about sex, then proceeds to coerce her into having lots of sex.

All because she's hot.

So, if dearly departed Daddy St. Claire had had a daughter that Roth deemed ugly or unfuckable, I'm comfortable guessing that she would not have gotten the same treatment.

Also, what was that shit with Kylie's ex-boyfriend Steven being revealed to be a Criminal Minds level sadist? It exists for no other reason than to make Roth look better, so he can be the saintly savior. That's a sad excuse for real character development.

Final notes and complaints:

-"Boobs" is not a sexy word, and will only ever remind me of the world's best song about boobs.

-Photographing someone 24/7, but abstaining from taking naked ones, is not in any way respecting that persons privacy.

-All the main characters are overwhelmingly white. The Latinos are would-be rapists or quiet housekeepers. The only Asian characters are at a Chinese restaurant. Marco, the "portly Italian man" runs, you guessed it, an Italian restaurant. BFF Layla is a POC described in what I think is supposed to be a flattering way, but they really didn't have to go with describing her skin as "flawless mocha."

Finally, I want to set these sentences on fire:

I wasn’t a prude, nor was I shy. I could rock a bikini without feeling self-conscious, but I wasn’t a show-off, either.

Soooo, you're basically the most perfect bikini who ever bikinied? CAN WE NEVER EVER HAVE THIS IN A NARRATIVE AGAIN PLEASE. Clothing does not determine or change a fucking thing about your innate worth or purity or classiness or any other endless and pointless category - wear whatever the fuck you want.

Which brings me to the end of my rant. I really strongly disliked this one, in case I haven't made that obvious. Alpha brings nothing new to the table. It even falls short of being dumb-but-fun fluff. 100% skipable.

Alpha Jasinda Wilder
Alpha by Jasinda Wilder
Erotic Romance with a little suspense. Standalone.

"You. Belong. To Me."

When I read the teaser for Alpha" target="_blank">Alpha by Jasinda Wilder that was at the end of Falling Under" target="_blank">Falling Under, I was officially HOOKED. With all the NA books out there, Alpha finally gave me that tingly, anticipatory feeling I got when I initially read Fifty Shades Trilogy Bundle" target="_blank">Fifty Shades of Grey. (Yes, I know, there have been a ton of books that came out since that I loved even more.) I knew it would be hot, because, well, it's Jasinda. But I really like my heat with a little more dominance and kink than Jasinda usually writes.

Holy Hotness! We all know Jasinda can write hot, but she takes it a step up in Alpha. I was on the edge of combustion the entire book.  Sexy and thrilling, I couldn't look away unless it was for a sex break. Well, honestly, even then I didn't stop reading for long...uuumm....lets just say I kept reading until I couldn't hold my kindle anymore and my eyes rolled back in my head. (Mr. Ana thinks it's a challenge, and he never complains about my reading, especially books like this!)

Jasinda had a full on mystery amongst the sex, and you just had to keep reading to figure it all out. What an addictive read!

Kyrie was a really likable character. Relatable and sometimes funny, I enjoyed her inner voice. I adored her best friend Layla as well, and I'm hoping maybe she gets her own story. As you read in the blurb, Kyrie is at the point of desperation. She was evicted and her electricity turned off the day she got fired.
"I was sexually propositioned by Mr. Edwards."
"Shut the fuck up."
"He said I could keep my job if I sucked his cock. I mean, he didn't say it in so many words. But he made it clear... by pulling his dick out."

So when the mysterious $10,000 check shows up, Kyrie has no choice but to cash it. She would have ended up stripping or even worse, just to eat, let alone pay for her mother and brother's care. As the checks keep coming, Kyrie cautiously spends the money, knowing she will have to pay up one day.
"My name is Harris. I'm here to collect you."..."My employer has sent me to collect what is his."

After packing her belongings and flying in a private jet, she arrives at the penthouse, and is blindfolded.
"Who–who are you? Why am I here?"
"You don't need my name just yet. As far as why you're here?" His voice lowered, became hushed, a growling murmur that made my stomach clench.
"You're here because I own you, Kyrie."
"What - what are you going to do to me?" I hated how weak, how afraid I sounded.
"Everything." His voice was thick with promise. "But nothing you won't enjoy."

Not being able to see, Kyrie must rely on on her other senses. She has no idea if that man is young or old...nothing. But his voice and words are having an effect on her. He is both sexy and reassuring, yet he makes her keep the blindfold on and won't even tell her his name.
"Here is another promise I will make you: you and I will not engage in penetrative sexual intercourse unless you ask for it. And you will, Kyrie. That's the promise, here. You will. You'll beg me for it. But it won't happen until, and unless, you ask me for it."

Kyrie isn't a prisoner. She can leave, but all of her expenses are still there. Her mother is in a home, her brother needs his tuition paid. She has the choice to see how this plays out with the millionaire or leave with all of her bills still hanging over her head. But the mystery man is not ready to reveal himself to Kyrie...not yet.

Alpha Jasinda Wilder

There is more going on....
"I am keeping a secret from you, Kyrie. A very deep, very dark secret. One that affects us both, and one that will change the very fabric of our relationship."

Still, even with the blindfold, Kyrie can't help her physical reaction to him as he helps her eat dinner blindfolded. Jasinda really made this work. I felt breathless along with Kyrie. I wanted him too, and had no idea what he looked like. The build up, the anticipation, the fear, the helplessness, the teasing, the excitement....Jasinda had us feeling it all with Kyrie.
“I’ve barely touched you, barely begun to kiss you, only just learning the secrets of your body, but already you react so beautifully. Kyrie…Kyrie…you are so beautiful. Such a precious thing, and I simply cannot wait to make you sing, to make your body hum and shiver for me.”

Wow...see what I mean?
Alpha Jasinda wilder

And if the build-up was hot, holy shit...when it really started, WOW.

Alpha Jasinda Wilder
Jasinda kept you on the edge of your seat, trying to figure out the whole story while telling the hottest story I think I read this year. Jasinda was always great at the lovemaking scenes, but we get diiirrrtty in Alpha. And...
dirty

"One word out of you, and I'll snap. I'll pull into the nearest alley and fuck you where you sit. You're flushed and nervous and the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and you smell like expensive wine and good food and pussy. I'm barely holding onto my restraint right now."

Likes:

•Alpha sucked you in and didn't let go once.
•I loved Kyrie's voice.
•I enjoyed her friend Layla, and wouldn't mind her story!
•The blindfold. I loved that, it ratcheted up the tension and it was hot!
•The twist caught me by surprise.
•Jasinda's sex scenes were a little more my style--a little less flowery, well, except for the flower part, (you'll see) and a little more dirty. (And no 'turgid'!)
•The sexual tension was so thick even before the sex, that I was ready to grab the guy without any knowledge of his looks.
•Mr. Ana had a smile on his face for 2 days. (So did I.)

Dislikes:

•I would have loved an epilogue, but the book, though the ending satisfied, did leave it open for more.
•Him swearing he wasn't a Dominant at the beginning of the book. While he isn't into pain or bondage, he is very much a Dominant.

Rating: 5-5+ Stars, 5 Heat

Flame_FIVE

Alpha wasn't an epic, New Adult bawl-your-eyes-out kind of book like many of Jasinda's books. It's a gripping erotic romance with suspense. It hovered close to having too much sex without going over (or maybe that was me?) but there was more than enough story to even it out, and believe me, I wasn't complaining! I thought it was a short, fast read and was surprised to find out it is 445 pages! Jasinda's pacing makes it a quick, easy, totally hot read that I am saving on my kindle for those nights I need a little extra motivation for Mr. Ana.
"It's not even really begging. It's just...asking me nicely"
"Please..._____" Who needs dignity when you can have public orgasms?

P.S. I'd love to see some of the male point of view, maybe novella? But please, I beg of you, if you do that Jasinda, don't pussify the guy like I've seen many authors do.

I am not quite sure where to begin with this book..I will start off by saying that I was so excited going into it; as I thought it was a great concept for a storyline. We have a young lady who is up to her eyeballs in debt; which considering she has not only herself to support, but her brother and mother as well; you can't look down on her for it. Her father was killed when Kyrie St. Claire was a teenager and she had to immediately step up to the plate to support her family. Her mother is in a special home, and her brother has schooling to pay for..As you can imagine, Kyrie is stressed to the max when she loses her job and has no way to pay her numerous bills. All of a sudden, an answer to her prayers happen in a big way. She gets a check sent in her mailbox for ten thousand dollars! These cheques keep coming each month, and she decides to keep using them..Oh, did I forget to mention that there was a letter with one sentence on it?? "You Belong To ME," comes in one of the envelopes, and Kyrie realizes that she may have made a huge mistake in cashing these cheques. Life goes on for a whole year, until one day..there is a knock at the door...Her consequences have arrived!!

Sounds like an awesome book doesn't it? Some of the book, well..let's just say that the sex was HOT,HOT,HOT!!! The rest of the book though, I had a hard time keeping my attention on it. I wanted to love it so much; but for me, I had a hard time connecting emotionally with the characters. In the first part of the book, I found Valentine Roth (the hero) hard to fall in love with. He came across as mysterious; but creepy. I kept trying to figure out what was missing in the connection between the couple, and what I came up with was that for a big portion of the story the sex seemed one sided. Roth was a man who loved to please his woman..and yes, under normal circumstances that is just perfect. The only thing I found is that sex really is better when it is shared between two people. There needs to be mutual satisfaction for the most part, to make it so that I enjoy reading about it..So, for the first half while he was being a Prince Charming in the sack; I just wasn't feeling the grand emotion that I normally like. The sex does gradually get better, and trust me; there is tons of it!! It is extremely detailed as well, so I think it is safe to say that this book is mainly Erotica at your finger tips!

As far as the rest of the story goes, I just wasn't feeling any great emotional connection between the characters. Valentine Roth, I felt, I barely got to "know" him down to his soul...
I am rating this a three stars for the fact that it is very well written Erotica...but if you are looking for an intense and emotional story; I don't feel you will get it from this book.
I have heard that there are readers that fell in love with this story, and by all means you might like it too! These are strictly my opinions, and some of the reasons why I just didn't fully connect with this book. I would never steer anyone away from reading it because it could be that I am one of the minority.

Will I ever read a Jasinda Wilder book again? Of course, I do think she is a talented writer. I have enjoyed some of her other books in the past, and there are more that I want to check out that I have heard are brilliant! This particular book was just not one of my favorites!!!

Thanks Steph for yet another wonderful Buddy Read (even though we had gotten busy and couldn't discuss it as much as our others!!) Thanks for joining me again Steph!!!♥

Wellllllll this was one of those books where you may love the steam but hate the lack of story. For me personally - this book was right in the middle. This was definitely not the worse book I ever read, but if you compare it to the authors other works ..... This one missed the mark.
There were three distinct points where I was like ... DNF ... But then the next chapter pulled me back in ... Then I could not control my eyes as they rolled ... Then I was back in. So for me three stars and onward ❤️

You need to read this privately. The scenes laid out for the reader are erotic to the point of losing your breath or even forgetting to breathe.

Solid storyline that was a little twisted. Twisted enough I don’t know if I could have made the same decision as Kyrie to stay and work past it. But I don’t know I might would have considering the other aspects of the book.

Anyways super hot. Good storyline. Definitely a must read if you are feeling naughty.

Happy reading,
DD🥂

This was one of the craziest plots I've read to date. I honestly can't believe I read this. So much of this would NOT be okay in real life, my goodness

At the end of Falling Under we get a short little chapter on Alpha. Let me tell you I was all kinds of frustrated that, that was all I got. This book is going to be really really good, how could it not be Jasinda wrote it.
Little synopsis:
Kyrie is seriously down on her luck she has lost her father, her mother is in a mental hospital, and her younger brother chooses to stay away at college with his head buried in the sand so he doesn't have to cope with their mother. She just recently lost her job that a temp agency had provided for her. Her bosses boss was a total jerk, and she leaves him with a broken nose. You go girl! Behind on all her bills, about to get evicted, power is turned off, college tuition is due, last yogurt in the fridge will be her dinner....she is near destitute. While looking through the piles of bills the mailman left she notices one that is handwritten with no return to sender. Upon opening she gets the shock of her life $10,000 dollars with a you in the memo. She runs through the mental list of all the things this could fix and help in her life. She is excited and apprehensive because nothing is free. And won't someone come to collect something from her one day. For one year each month she receive and cashes a $10,000 check. The first three come with a message and then nothing after that. Until the anniversary of the letters then someone comes a collecting........

Kyrie's shocked

And I am soooo EXCITED!!

Release date is this April 29! Thanks Tee for finding that out:D

Kyrie St. Claire

Valentine Roth

Mini Playlist
Stay - Rihanna
Chains - Nick Jonas
Enemy - The Weeknd
Tonight (Best You Ever Had) - John Legend
Love The Way You Lie - Eminem
G.U.Y. - Lady Gaga

He has a secret that could tear them apart. He also has the one thing that can keep them together...love. He LOVES her. Obsessively, almost like a starved alcoholic who is desperate to quench the thirst he suffers with each passing moment. From the first time he laid his eyes on her, to the first time he was able to talk to her in person, he knew that she would be the one to show him what true intimacy is. Unfortunately, he was the one to show her what true pain was. Can he get her to see past a painful truth?

She is barely holding on to her life by a string. Struggling to pay the bills, her redemption comes in 12 envelopes that span a year of her life. However, everything comes with a price. As Kyrie is shown the source of her redemption, she also looks straight into the eyes of the man who caused her premature demise. Can she accept the truth that links them together?

This book had me staying up until odd hours of the night with its scorching love scenes, intense chemistry between the protagonists, and the authors undeniable talent for writing. The conflict of this story is easy to understand yet hard to process for oneself because it makes the reader decide whether love is worth the ends justifying the means, or if it is only allowed under the circumstances of the past.

Favorite Scene: The Morning Post-Blindfold :)

Fellow readers of romance novels and all you secret romanticists at heart, this is not a book you want to miss!

Until next time my fabulous readers,
Tierra

dnf @ 66%

Was really trying to finish this and couldn’t. After reading more than 200 pages I was just punishing myself. I really don’t like to trash authors and maybe her other books are better, but this was so bad. The plot was unbelievable, like seriously this wouldn’t happen in real life.

Someone sends you a check once a month and then after a year a guy shows up at your door saying he owns you now? Of course said guy is super hot and super rich and super in love with you but hasn’t ever even spoken to you? Sounds about right, because things like this happen all the time, right?

I get that this is fiction but my god I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes every time either of them opened their mouth. If this is your cup of tea, by all means give it try. But it wasn’t mine, not even close. No backstory whatsoever and no real reason besides attraction as to why they liked each other. Just no.

Kyrie is a girl struggling, with the financial responsibility of looking after an ill mother and her brothers education, everything around her is starting to fall apart.

When cheques of $10,000 start appearing in the post, no name or reason, Kyrie decides to cash them in...someone is trying to help her...

But everything comes as a price....

My thoughts were....
Unfortunately this story didn't work for me.
After the eye catching blurb I really expected more.

I'm sorry to say this had no real story and made this a long drawn out read.

I did think it was going to be a DNF at 45% but the hot sex scenes in the end kept me going...and yes they were quite hot..

But..I feel I need a bit more now in a story. I need some kind of plot, something to keep me interested inbetween the steamy parts...

There were no surprises and I pretty much guessed a few chapters in the reason for VR giving her that money.
So all in all it was a thumbs down story wise but heat wise it was ok..

Of course this is just my opinion and please don't let it you stop you from giving it a go... we all look for different things in a book..

‘…the one thing in life I’d learned was that nothing was ever free.’ – Kyrie

I was desperate to get Alpha into my eager little hands after reading that synopsis. It sounded intriguing and different so I couldn’t wait! Now, did it live up to its enticing synopsis? Yes, without doubt it had me desperate to find out who exactly the man behind the cheques was. Not only his identity, but also his story as the small tidbits which were thrown at us at an exasperating pace gave me some insight into who the mystery Alpha truly was. It was never enough until the very end. I had so many questions and the answers were slow in coming. But I kind of got that, it was a build up to the big reveal at the end which I did not see coming. I had my theories but none were accurate and for that I applaud Jasinda Wilder. Dammit, I do not like being bested at the guessing game!

“This is such a fucked-up situation. You know that right?” – Kyrie

Our secret benefactor was lush; he was enticing, he was smooth, he was incredibly dominant yet super romantic and he was determined, bloody hell was he determined to get what he wanted! I wanted more; was desperate for more of what made this man who he was.

“Hate it all you want. Fight it. Try as you might you can’t help it. I own you….and soon you’ll come to accept this.”

As for our lovely Kyrie, well, she was brave, she had a tremendously feisty attitude yet she was vulnerable and fair too. Their story was hot, romantic, heart-breaking and intense.

“What – what are you going to do to me?” – Kyrie

“Everything.”

I have to say I enjoyed Alpha, I thought it was very well written and I love Jasinda’s style, it just flows. I also connected with the characters and thought the concept of the story was alluring. I would however, have loved to have had less nookie, albeit it hot, and instead had chapters in the benefactors POV. These; in order to fully understand and feel his dilemmas before, during and after, as well as his secret passion for Kyrie. He was such an interesting character and in my honest opinion, to have heard his voice from his past would have added that something extra to make me fully love this story. When we did get to hear his voice I loved it; it made him more real and tangible, yet it just came a little bit too late for me and it wasn’t quite enough in this context.

So, if you enjoy a lot of nookie, an intense and intriguing story line as well as a bit of angst then Alpha’s right up your street.

Enjoy ♥

‘The problem was reconciling head, heart and body into one decision that would affect the rest of my life.’

So,we meet here nice and independent girl Kyrie.
She was fired from her last work, and all of a sudden she started to gettin in mail checks for 10 grand every month...
with just one note on it "You belong to me!"
Yup,scary as f*ck!
Finaly one day,a man came to her house to "collect" her,and she didn't have a choice than to follow him.
She was blinfolded and taken to New York.

Then,we meet Roth...our sexy as hell alpha possessive male!
Yes,author did mention Alex S. for that Nordic God,
but every time he sad "LOVE " to her, with that slight british accent,
I just can't help myself, and every time I've pictured in my mind Klaus(Joseph M.) as our hero...

He was romantic, sweet, possessive, hot, rich and mysterious, all in one package...just as I love them to be!
Chemistry between them was palpable in most of the book.
And then when everything started to go hot'n'heavy...

This was a DNF for me so I'll keep my review as short and sweet as possible.

I adored the idea promised by the blurb, unfortunately the book did not deliver, I kept putting it down and then forcing myself to pick it up again- The fact that I preferred to do the ironing and derived more enjoyment from it than reading this is what convinced me to give up at 50%

The premise of the book is absolute brilliance, Kyrie a struggling girl whose world is falling apart, receives a cheque in the email to the amount of $10,000 from a mysterious benefactor- To help pay for her mother's treatment and her brother's education, Kyrie cashes the cheque. This occurs monthly for a whole year and of course as we all know, nothing is for free. The time for payment arrives, the stranger wants repayment in the form of Kyrie herself. Kyrie tries to convince us that she has no choice but to deliver, I didn't buy that.

I wasn't able to suspend my disbelief in order to become engrossed in the story, the steam alone couldn't get me to continue. The sex scenes were hot, but reading about nothing but sex loses its appeal quickly. I didn't feel the connection between the protagonists, no chemistry there.

I won't rate this as it's not fair since I couldn't finish, as well as the case of 'it's not you, it's me'- There are many readers out there who enjoyed this book, it just wasn't for me.
