Oh no she's a girl from money and feels ashamed and has to have a guy save her because how could she be an independent girly working her first ever job at a bakery (also the lavender hair and name made SOME sense, but the drapes? girrrlll)

Lines that made this book a 2 star instead of 1:
- Most importantly, though? It was my mistake. My decision. When you don’t get to make too many of them, you savor even the bad ones.
- How I’m going to be able to do so much, be able to change the world. Like, I’m just one girl. How am I changing the world with so much going on?”
- If anything, she’s not cut out to be the businesswoman her parents want her to be. She’s too kind. She wants the best for people and has never cared about money beyond having enough of it to survive. So she’d be a terrible CEO. (also she's just inadequate but sure)
- “You insolent little bitch. I have no daughter.” “Then I have no mother either.”

I wish I could give you a list of reasons why I loved this book, but that list doesn’t exist, because I truly disliked this boring-to-rage-inducing novel that I was relieved to finish because I was grossly uninterested and fiercely un-entertained.

I had no favorite characters in this book, but Lavender did feel like a heroine some rich girls who want a simpler life can relate to. What irritated me most about this cast of characters was knowing there are real people out there in the world like Lavender’s parents, which angered me to the Nth degree and then some, too!

As I read this book, all I felt was boredom and rage, but the rage I felt towards heroine Lavender’s parents wasn’t enough to keep me engaged in reading this book, leaving me to skip over more than a few chapters to finally get to the end of the book.

My favorite part of the book, specifically, was when Lavender stood up for herself against her mom and dad, not caring if they disowned her for wanting her own life and disowning them in return when they gave her an ultimatum to follow their rules or leave her riches behind for good.

This book didn’t make me laugh or cry as all I felt in reading this novel was boredom for this story, this couple, and the lack of emotional impacts from reading this novel made me lose interest in ever finishing the rest of this series. Will I read the next book(s) in the Men of Evergreen Mountain saga? Short answer, no; long answer, possibly, but only with a heck of a lot of convincing!

This book wasn’t a page-turner, and I finished it in forty minutes or so, because I skipped over more than a few scenes to reach the end of the book; I will admit, yes, I wanted to finish reading this far more than I wanted to legitimately read this book, all due to boredom.

Just a few things I disliked about this book include—
Lavender’s inability to stand up for herself prior to Hawk’s intervening
Lavender’s parents and their obsessive need to control every aspect of her life
Lavender’s family being so domineering and disowning her for having her own dreams

—And I wish I could say something about Hawk, positive or negative, but I didn’t care about him as a character, in any regard, that I have nothing to say about him at all, whether promoting him as a hero or demoting him as just another guy in a book I lost interest in even before I started reading it. I don’t mean to be so cold towards a romance novelist I liked when I first read the Men of Ever-green Mountain series, but I will admit to being critical all the same—sorry, Frankie Love!

There wasn’t a cliffhanger ending, nor an epilogue, and I felt bored with the writing style overall, I’m sorry to say.

I didn’t care about the characters in this book, but I did want to see Lavender’s parents realize their snobbish mistakes and have mirrors up to their faces to show them how truly terrible people they are, which I think could’ve enhanced this book more than what readers received.
If I were the author of the Men of Evergreen Mountain series in place of Frankie Love, I’d change a few things to enhance this series as a whole, not just one specific novel—

I’d give more detailed backstories of the characters.
I’d give variations on the steamy acts these characters engage in (but wouldn’t change any of the characters’ V-card statuses).
And for this book, specifically, I’d alter the semi-boring steamy scenes between Lavender and Hawk, which I largely skipped over to reach the end of this book.

I mean my sincerest apologies to Frankie Love, but my interest in this series has faded to the point of not wanting to read the rest of however many books are in this series. I am truly sorry and still can’t truly decipher my feelings about this series; if I loved this novel or hated it. Controlling parental figures, whether they’re fictional characters or real people, truly enrage me, and that’s what Lavender’s parents made me feel—absolute, bitter hatred. I rejoiced when Lavender stood up for herself, disowned her parents, and found her very own happily ever after with Hawk that no one could take away from her. Still, this was a strange book to read, even if I can’t place all the oddities about it…

This may be the end of life as she knows it, but it's worth it!

Lavender comes from a very wealthy family. Her father's family had the money, and her mother married into his wealth with no plans on ever being set aside from it. She's exceptionally controlling.

Lavender wants to enroll in a school to learn how to bake. You would have thought Lavender had said she wanted to stab her mother in the heart.

Lavender has come to the mountains for a vacation. Her parents rented a chalet large enough for ten people. She was supposed to hire a maid during her stay. Instead, she's working part-time at the bakery in town and becoming friends with her boss, Hannah. Three of her best friends are already living in the area, each finding her true love.

If Lavender follows her dream for what she wants in life, she'll have to give up life as she knows it now. She'll be dead to her parents. Her mother is known for being a mean, spiteful woman for a good reason.

But then she'll have Hawk...

Hawk was born and raised in the mountains. He was raised to be true to yourself and that love is worth risking it all. He's a professional mountain man who works for individuals or authorities to do or find things. He could be described as an unofficial sorta park ranger.

His family isn't rich in material wealth like hers, but she's jealous of the childhood he had. His family is open, warm, caring, and nurturing. They love and care for each other, even if they don't always see eye-to-eye. They've been taught to give back to the community and to help those in need even if they aren't family.

Her mother considers him to be poor white trash. He was afraid Lavender was ashamed of him. It was her parents, especially her mother, she was ashamed of.

Their Romantic Chalet is Book 4 of The Men of Evergreen Mountain. It's a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, age-gap, small-town, opposites-attract, curvy virgin gets her mountain man romance. Lavender is a 21 year old curvy virgin. She comes from a wealthy family who doesn't care about what she wants. She wants to be a baker, but they want her to be the future CEO of their company. She is taking a gap year before college and is renting a chalet in Evergreen Valley and working at a bakery. Hawk is a hunky
mountain man who loves living a fairly simple life in the mountains and is close to his family. The two meet when she has to deliver a wedding cake to her best friend's wedding and they are attracted to each other but too shy to do anything. As they continue to cross paths, Hawk asks her out and sparks fly. But what happens when she has to return? When her pretentious parents show up unexpectedly, she has to decide what she wants. I loved this couple. They had amazing chemistry, and we got a happy ending. Lavender's family was a nightmare, though!!. She was so sweet, and Hawk was dreamy.

I thought this was an ok read. The characters were fine enough. Hawk at first came off as older and gruff but then quickly he acted like a young guy in his 20's. That was a little confusing. I thought he was going to be this grumpy mountain man and he was nothing like it. Lavender was also ok. She was awkward and felt she needed to lie about being rich. Her mom was horrendous, her dad a whimp. It would have been nice if Hawk stood up more for her, he came charging back but was like a silent presence. Two things that didn't sit well with me...1) her downstairs was dyed purple. Weird, just weird. 2) After their 1st time together he told her it "was the best I ever had" WHAT IN THE... Why? Why would would you say that. Why would you write that?

H- 23 years old, experienced

h- 21 years old, Virgin

No condom used

No OW/OM drama

Safe read.

Lavender (h) wants more out of life than the stifling expectations of her wealthy, overbearing parents and takes a summer job at a small-town bakery in Evergreen Valley, where she hopes to find independence and purpose on her own terms. But when she meets Hawk (H), a rugged local who lives life simply and fully, her carefully planned escape becomes something she never expected—a chance at true love. As they get to know one another, things heat up between the two and Lavender is torn between the safe, controlled life her parents have planned and the freedom she finds with Hawk. When her parents get wind of her relationship with Hawk, Lavender must decide if she has the courage to follow her heart. Hot and steamy mountain man romance, exploring love, self-discovery, freedom, community, and the pursuit of a life worth living.

I love reading Frankie Love's books. They are typically short and sweet and this one is no exception.

Lavender is a daughter of billionaires that she is trying to hide from. Hawk is a mountain man and part time ranger.

They meet at her best friends wedding as he is sent to pickup the baker and wedding cake. They don't know how to act around each other. Hawk partially opens up to her about his life, but she will not tell him about her family and having money. He has asked her to go on a hike with him, and she accepts. They spend an incredible day and night together.

What is going to happen now? Will they be together? How will he react when he finds out the truth about her? Will there be a baby, since nothing was used? What will her parents due when they find out what has been going on? Let's finish reading to find out!

A wonderful story of love and commitment, but it must be unconditional. Lavender's parents had always treated her like a pawn during her life. She was commanded to do whatever they wanted her to do even at twenty-one. She was in no way happy with her life studying in college what her parents wished for her to study. Finally, she got a real vacation in the mountains, where she met Hawk. He showed her an entire different type of family. They had an undeniable connection that drew her to him like a bear to honey.

Finding the perfect recipe for a happy life

Their Romantic Chalet is the fourth book in The Men of Evergreen Mountain series. The story is about Lavender and Hawk. She is trying to be true to herself even as her family pressures her to conform to what they think and he already is very much true to himself and living life on his own terms. They meet and all bets are off as he falls hard for her, and in turn she for him. But when her family tries to split them apart will they both fight for the love and life they want?
This is a sweet and spicy romance between two very likeable characters. It was a delightful read.

Lavender finally chooses for herself! This is about Lavender and Hawk. She is taking a break before heading to a business school of her parent's choosing. Of course, she doesn't want to take over the family business, but she has no choice. While working as a baker, she meets Hawk, and the attraction is there. This is what makes her braver. Of course, Hawk is protective of her even when her parents dismiss him as a no-one. I love how Lavender defended Hawk and how she made a choice for herself that would be forever!

Lavender comes to the mountains to get away from her parents and to do what she wants. There she meets Hawk, a true mountain man. A quick read, the story is filled with sweetness and love, there is some angst to move the story along.

Lavender and Hawk were really sweet together. I enjoyed the connection they to had and the slight awkwardness they had towards each other when they first met. I'm really lost that Lavender stood up to her mother and followed her heart to Hawk and got an HEA.

This was an okay instalove romance. It was a short story that had a really fast pace and to me it did feel a little rushed. It had a lot of drama and it was a bit much for such a short story. Hawk and Lavender had okay chemistry but it wasn’t my favorite story.

Hawk and Lavender have an inst-; love/lust after meeting at a wedding, delivering the cake. It was such a cute set up for a meet cute and I was so disappointed that the story just felt so flat. There was no chemistry between the characters, they felt very robotic. This is not usual for Frankie Love's couples. The writing felt very off.

It was a good book.

I've enjoyed them all, but the spelling and grammatical mistakes take away from it. Like I tell my students, take a bit more time and it would be better. That being said, I'm impressed on how each character is completely different from the others in this series. Wow!
