Silas: A Station 47 Novel

Rate this book
Kara
I moved to Nashville to follow my dreams of being a country music singer.
Who would have ever thought I’d meet the love of my life at one of my first shows?
His enthusiasm for my music is evident, but when he gets his sister to invite all of her college friends to my next show, my music career isn’t the only thing soaring through the night.

Silas
I always wanted to be a firefighter, but I never knew how much of a toll it would take on my personal life.
Finding the one took a back seat early on, and the thought of having kids was absolutely out of the question. I’ve seen too much heartache, and I would never put myself through the possibility of losing someone I loved.
I’m used to being the hero in everyone else’s story, but I never knew just how much I needed a hero of my own—until I meet her.

Silas is a stand-alone novel in the Station 47 series, shared with seven other amazing authors. It is a surprise-baby, country-music musician, and found-family novel with some sweet, emotional, and spicy times.

Silas - wow. This man is perfection.

Lauren has written probably one of my favorite firefighters in so many ways.

This story is part of a collection from various authors, but they can all be read as standalones. I have not read any of the previously released books and easily read this one without issues. Lauren does a great job of giving readers a brief glimpse into each of the other firefighters and how they all get along and intertwine.

Silas's story wills sweep you off your feet. There is low drama, amazing chemistry, great dialogue amongst the characters and so many swoon worthy moments. I love that Kara and Silas act their age and handle issues like adults.

Lauren does this story so much justice in such a short amount of pages. Normally I need stories to have more depth and see that characters evolve more but with this book, it just all works out perfectly and I loved every word of it.

Another entertaining and smoldering addition to the Station 47 series. Let me start by saying that I love the fact that each book is written by a different author. Reading a series set in the same universe and with the same main cast allows you to get to know new authors as well as enjoy stories written by your favorites.

This story focuses on Silas, one of the younger firefighters at Station 47. Firefighting has been his calling for as long as he can remember, but a tragedy during one of his first calls has left him traumatized. Thankfully, the rest of the crew knows this and they try to help each other get through hard times. One of the ways they do this is by going to their favorite bar for drinks.

During one such evening, Silas is intrigued by a new singer, Kara. They click instantly and fall into a whirlwind romance. Hey, when you know, you know, right? This does throw Silas a bit for a loop, because he never really thought himself the relationship type, especially after the aforementioned tragedy. But he cannot fight his attraction to Kara.

This story doesn't have the intense drama and action as some of the previous stories in the series, but is more a story of two people growing together and as individuals as a result of their love. And who wouldn't want a guy like Silas supporting you every step of the way to your dreams?

Once I started this story I never wanted to put my kindle down. Silas is a firefighter and Kara is an aspiring musician, together they’re unstoppable. Their story is down to earth and you can easily connect to their characters. I enjoyed how we were able to be part of both Silas and Kara’s life’s individually as well as when they were together. You will go through quite a few emotions with these two. Expect to find yourself gasping at times, reaching for a tissue and smiling ear to ear. A beautifully told story with a HEA ending that will leave you saying “wow, that was a great story” because that’s exactly what I said out loud to myself as I read the last words.

Silas and Kara were such fun characters.

I loved that Silas didn't hold back in showing his affection or feelings for Kara from the very start. He is one hot firefighter who knows no bounds when showing his feelings. However, is struggling early on in his firefighting career with how to deal with some hard calls while on the job.

Kara is new to Nashville, as she moved there to start her country music career. She is fun loving and care free!

I really enjoyed the plot of this story and the character development, however I give this a 4 star rating because it felt rushed and too short. In just under 200 pages, I felt that this story had so much more that we could have loved and this did the story injustice. As a spicy romance lover, I could have done with some more spice in this book, however that did not contribute to my rating.

I want to thank Lauren Runow and Wordsmith Publicity for allowing me to read this as an ARC for my honest review and rating.

Silas and Kara's story was one filled with emotion and had you riding the highs and lows with these two. The moment Silas sees Kara on stage it is like she is singing directly to his heart. Silas is drawn to Kara in a way he just can't understand and the chemistry between these two radiates off every page. I loved the way that he supported her and wanted nothing than to see her succeed with her singing career. However it is the secret that he holds within, never voicing what he sees as his future that just might tear these two apart. A beautiful love story that serenades your heart.

I wasn’t expecting the heaviness of emotions or fears that came my way, but I actually really like that the author took the chance to go this route! Silas has some things to work through, but he’s avoiding them. And avoidance never works in the long run, as he’s about to find. But can he figure it out before ruining a chance with Kara?

This is full of fun, love, fear, worry, hope, and the proof that everyone is human. Everyone needs support. And everyone needs a friend like Myles in their corner. Because when Silas is faced with those fears and that PTSD, he runs. But Myles knows that Silas needs help in the form of support, a good person by his side, and the assurance that life does happen and we can move forward from just about anything.

I honestly really enjoyed the unexpected “look, men have emotions and worries” approach and can only wish that some men would read this to understand that it’s 100% okay to feel a little less than stone strong all the time!

Another heart is set on fire in the station as Silas found himself at the bar after a rough call and spotted a gorgeous girl setting up her set that the March brothers had for entertainment at their bar. Kara is a nanny by day and an up-and-coming county singer after all that's why she moved to Nashville, she wants her dream to come true, but she knows it's a cutthroat industry but that's it could be all worth it in the end. But even though she was warned in a joking manner that some of the firefighters that come into the bar can be trouble Silas wasn't one that she was warned about. Will these two get the chance to write a beautiful love song everyone wants to hear, or will the lyrics be full of fire and hate, follow their journey through the flames of their relationship and what happens when the sirens go off.

Silas is a lot of things: a fireman, a friend, a son, and man plagued with PTSD. He can’t unsee or stop hearing the people he has tried to save, and that has affected his present and what he wants for his future.
Until he meets Kara, a woman who came to Nashville to make it big in the country music industry. She is his angel. She is kind, beautiful, and patient. They are so good together, but they want different things. She can’t wait to be a mom, and he is certain kids have no place in his future.
The things I loved most about this book – the struggle did not take long to resolve, the chemistry was everything, the relationship was fast and there wasn’t anything slow burn about this. Lastly Silas’s struggle with panic attacks was very relatable.
The book goes by quick and I absolutely loved the ending!

Silas is a standalone book that is part of the Station 47 Series. It was a good read! Silas is a young firefighter and can struggle with serious calls. Relationships weren't really on his radar and having kids was not what he wanted having seen people lose loved ones. Kara moved to Nashville to follow her dreams of being a country music singer. Silas and Kara meet at the bar one night while she is there to sing and he and his friends are there to try and get over a rough call they had. The two had instant chemistry and a connection. Silas was sweet to Kara and pretty obsessed. Kara was a sweet and great girl. I loved them for each other!! So cute!

My Thoughts:

Silas is the fifth and newest installment in the Station 47 series collaboration with a bunch of different talented authors and by far my favourite IF I had to choose. I feel like this one was more of a tear-jerker compared to the first four I mean I didn’t like sob because I don’t usually cry dramatically (except with Iron Flame and the Ravenhood trilogy) but I felt the pain deep in my soul when it got to the heartbreaking part, the angst took me by surprise.

Silas was *in my eyes* the sweetheart of the Station 47 family and it showed in pretty much every small or major thing he did for Kara just to make her happy.

I didn’t agree with some of Silas’s ‘decisions’ Until I read the background involving the situation which made me understand and feel so much for both characters.

To me, it had sort of a wholesome vibe to it and I needed that, it made me feel more connected to the story.

I’m so happy I got the chance to read this and it was no hardship to watch the perfection that was Silas and Kara’s whirlwind romance play out.

Woo! All of these firefighters are burning down the house every time! Each book of this series can be read as a standalone, but I always recommend starting with the first book and enjoying each one to its fullest!

Silas is a younger firefighter, but he’s already seen some traumatic events take place. Undoubtedly, this hasn’t been easy to live with. He has a wonderful support team behind him at work who are like a family, offering shoulders and distraction with nights out. I fully understand why he would shy away from love and having a family. His job places him in situations that can leave tragedy in its wake.

Kara is working hard to find her place in the music industry. She’s definitely in the right city to do it! But when she discovers that her life is about to drastically change, it pushes her to take a new look at her life and make some important decisions.

Silas and Kara have incredible chemistry with some instalove that whisks them off their feet. I love how all-in he goes for her, despite his trauma-related reservations. The pull between them is an unstoppable force that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. These two make great music together — and set their own little fires ablaze!

First off, I want to say I am so glad this didn’t go the way I thought it was going too. With that said, if you love a story without a lot of drama and a strong man who isn’t afraid to show his love and affection for a girl and get teased then you should read this.

Silas is a firefighter/paramedic and after a rough day him and his buddies head to the local bar to clear their heads and get past what happened. There a girl named Kara gets on stage to perform a show for the first time and boy does she catch Silas’s attention. They click right away and start a whirlwind romance. She trying to make it as a country music star and him succeeding as a firefighter and saving lives. Deep down he is hurting due to a call from his past and moving on from it is a bit hard so when Kara comes to him with a situation he doesn’t know if he can handle it.

I really enjoyed this book and glad there was just enough drama and not too over the top. Every girl would love a man like Silas. Not afraid to let everyone know where he stands and how he feels and is the biggest cheerleader for the one he loves.

This multi-author series keeps getting better and as the guys cross over from book to book their stories get more endearing to this reader. The guys at Fire Station 47 are more than just co-workers. They are brothers at heart, always there for each other through thick and thin, the good times and the back and definitely there for each other after a bad call. Silas is one of the newer guys on the team. One of his first calls still causes him nightmares. So much so he has vowed to never have kids or be in a position to be losing someone he loves. But when a young woman who is trying to “make it country music” plays at his friend's bar to get some exposure, Silas is drawn to her. In fact he takes it upon himself to help her career get a leg up. Little does he know this one night, this one woman would change his life.

This is an exceptional story of love that is emotional and heartwarming. I highly recommend both Silas and the rest of the Station 47 series to date. As for this reader, I am anxiously awaiting Braxton, the next book in the series.

Another great addition to the Station 47 firefighter series. Every single book in this series tells a different story about an amazing couple. This one is about Silas and Kara.
Silas is a firefighter/EMS. He has dealt with some very difficult calls since becoming a firefighter. One that has forever haunted him. After one particular bad call all the guys from the fire department gather at the local bar to try and decompress. Kara is there on stage singing her heart out. One look and Silas is hooked.
Kara has come to Tennessee to make her dream of singing come true. She takes a chance on stage at a local bar and from that night her life complete changes. Silas becomes her best fan and will do whatever it takes to support her and show her just how awesome she is. But Silas is hiding something from her that could end what they are trying to build. You see Kara is also a nanny and she absolutely loves children.
Kara learns something and will tell Silas. But how will Silas handle this information? Will he run or be there for Kara?
I absolutely loved this storyline. Kara and Silas are two amazing characters who are written to bring out the story. They both have amazing chemistry and are very strong.
Another great addition to the Station 47 series.

I've read a few Lauren Runow books and have always enjoyed them. Silas is part of the Station 47 Series, where each book is written by a different author. I love that concept, and Silas works well as a standalone.

Silas is a firefighter/paramedic who meets aspiring country singer Kara at a bar the night she performs for the first time. They hit it off and embark on a whirlwind romance. But just as Kara's career is about to take off, she learns she is pregnant. And Silas does not want to be a father, his fears stemming from a traumatic experience. Can they find a way to move forward?

Silas and Kara have instant chemistry, and a great connection that carries through the book. This instalove story had some depth, especially with how Silas was able to be in his feelings, show his vulnerability. Can we see more of this from our leading men?

This book also has a great group of secondary characters, especially Myles, who is right there for Silas through all of his troubles.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

This was a really good book! It is a quick read at just 197 pages and I enjoyed every one of those pages. 🙂

I absolutely loved Silas! He is so sweet! I loved how he wasn't afraid to be vulnerable and show his emotions around Kara and how supportive he is of her music career. He also loves to cook and cooks for her so that's another plus.

Another thing I loved was how Silas and Kara met for the first time and all of the country music references throughout the story.

My favorite part of the story was when they went on vacation together but I won't share more details to avoid spoiling that part of the story for anyone who hasn't read the book yet.

These are a couple of my favorite quotes from "Silas";

“He’s hot. Employed. Good in bed. Cooks. And he doesn’t play games? Damn, girl, this guy must be a keeper.”

“Oh God. He’s sending kissy-face emojis now. We’re doomed,”

This was my first book by Lauren Runow but I look forward to reading more of her work and possibly more of the Station 47 series as this was definitely a five star read. 🙂

Kara meets Silas at a bar, where is she performing for the first time. They get on well and end up on multiple dates. Meanwhile, Kara is also becoming more and more well known for her amazing music and performance.

While both career and relationship seems to be doing well, Silas is hiding a secret from Kara. While she wants to be a mom, Silas is scarred by a bad experience and doesn’t want to be a father. When they are blessed with a surprise, can Silas become the man that Kara needs?

This was a really quick read and though I am not familiar with country music, I enjoyed those scenes where she hyped up the crowd by tweaking popular songs into her own style and lyrics. Silas was also amazing in supporting her career and thank God for friends like Myles and Joey who looked out for him!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25

I really enjoy reading Lauren Runow's books, but this is the first from this series I've read. It's about a firefighter/medic who is dealing with his own trauma due to the job. He meets a girl at his friends/co-workers bar that's singing that night for her first time. He cheers her own and loves her voice. He becomes her biggest supporter and cheerleader. They have a fast-moving relationship, but it's right for them. He doesn't want children because of events happened, but she ends up becoming pregnant when she's getting her big break. It feels with their relationship, hardships of his job, but their love never failing each other.

Kara's dream was to become a country music star and she hasn't had much luck since moving to Nashville. She gets the chance to play at Marchy's bar she doesn't realize her life is about to change. Silas is our next firefighter in this series and man he captured my heart. Silas has seen some stuff that has caused his opinions on things to change. When they have choir at the bar he sees and hears an angel. When he meets Kara this beautiful singer he knows he's met the one. Silas supports everything she does and it is truly amazing to watch this couple grow. However, when things start to turn Silas's thinking about things changes. Kara can not believe how much her life has changed. She's singing about her dreams and has the love of her life. When she gets the chance of a lifetime will she be able to take it and will Silas be there for her?

Ever since reading Asher from this series I've wanted to jump in and read the other books! I love the fact that each one is written by a different author, giving us different writing styles.

Each book in the series can be read as a standalone but who would want to when you can read them all? Lauren Runow does an amazing job of giving readers a brief glimpse into each of the other firefighters and how they all get along and intertwine.

Silas has found his calling as a firefighter but a past call has left him traumatized but with the help of the crew they try and get him through it. In doing so he finds himself at a bar where he meets Kara. The pull between Kara and Silas is evident and powerful. I found myself flipping the pages and devouring the story because I could not get enough of the two of them. They're easy to connect to and you cannot help but be cheerleaders for this couple.

Absolutely love the HEA and I cannot wait to pick up the other books in this series!

The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below, I would recommend reading those books(s) first as they are part of this series:
Grayson (A Station 47 Novel) by C.A. Harms
Cooper (A Station 47 Novel) by Heather Lyn
Rhett (A Station 47 Novel) by Evan Grace
Asher (A Station 47 Novel) by K.L. Myers & Tina Reber

This is Kara and Silas’s story. Silas has learned along the way that relationships don’t last with firefighters. A family is not really in the cards with all the lose they see and he does not want to risk losing a loved one. She’s a singer. When at a show she meets Silas she wants him right from the start but will all her dreams make him not want her?

I recommend this book.

From the moment that Silas sees Kara singing at the pub he frequents he is smitten. His career as a firefighter is both rewarding and difficult but he is willing to accept all that goes along with him. As the romance between them escalates Silas must either make peace with his past or risk a future without her.

Kara has come to Nashville to pursue her dreams of singing professionally. Silas is both supportive and understanding when it comes to her career but when life throws them a curve ball will it being them closer or tear them apart?

The relationship between Kara and Silas is delightful as even when they had challenges, they were surrounded by people who only wanted what was best for them which was each other.

Lauren Runow delivers yet another 5-star read in the multi-author A Station 47 Novel series, and this time it’s Silas, the irresistible firefighter, who steals the show. From the moment Kara steps on stage at the local bar, where Silas and his crew unwind after their shifts, the chemistry is undeniable. Her voice captivates him, but it’s her presence that truly overwhelms him. Kara, who’s new to town and chasing her dream of becoming a singer, never imagined she’d meet someone like Silas—especially not while performing in front of a crowd.

The instant connection between them is electric, with intense passion that seems too perfect to be true. But as the flames of their romance ignite, Silas is haunted by a secret, threatening to douse their fairy-tale love before it fully blossoms. With heart-pounding tension and a swoon-worthy epilogue, Ms Runow proves once again that she knows how to sweep readers off their feet. Fans of the series won’t want to miss this next chapter!

I have been so looking forward to Silas and Kara's book and devoured it. There is probably no better author to write a book that involves music than Lauren Runow. Each of these books can be read as standalone's but I think it brings so much more to the story if you have read them all. I loved the strength that Kara had from the start and she chased her dreams. Silas was strong and protective, but I loved the softer more vulnerable side that he showed as well. This was a great book and I truly enjoyed it. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book for my honest opinion.

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.

Silas is a hotshot firefighter. His love life took a backseat to his job, but he likes what he does. One day after a bad shift he meets a woman that moved to Nashville to follow her dreams of being a country singer.

He was enthralled by her and her singing. When they start to spend more time together, he rethinks his stance on never having family of his own. I loved their chemistry and passion. They were made for each other.

Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a firefighter romance then you’re going to love it.

Another great book in the Station 47 multi author series. I loved Silas. Kara and Silas are going to steal your heart. they are adorable together. I give Silas major props for embracing and encouraging Kara's dream. That was one of my favorite parts of the book Kara realizing her dream. It made me so happy for her. The fun banter and antics between the station crew was back. It also had it's emotional touch your heart moments. Being a firefighter comes with it's hard days that impact these guys. Oh my gosh don't even get me started with the epilogue. That had me squealing with so much joy. It was the fitting for Kara and Silas.

"What an amazing story. Get ready to take a journey of living life , falling in love and achieving your dreams.

Silas and Kara's story will put a smile on your face. Fate brought these two together and the sparks grew quickly. I enjoyed how Silas is determined to make Kara achieve her dream. Kara is the calm to Silas. Together they just fit. " ~Cindy

Enjoyable

Silas held onto some major issues and it took him almost losing the best thing to figure out how to deal with it all. This couple was fun to read together and they had fun and the extended family support. Loved that. ~Jen
