Some people would call this a midlife crisis, but I know better. I’m too old for that.
Pulling up my shallow roots, I decide on a whim to move from Texas to Montana, leaving what I’ve known for the past three decades.
The woman I cross paths with at the county fair is one I’ve known from a distance for twenty years, someone to whom I’ve grown My best friend’s widow, Genesis Dawson, who’s running the family ranch after her husband’s tragic death.
Startled by her unexpected appearance, I muddy the waters, creating a situation I can’t seem to fix. But a bigger problem is that her ranch is under threat and she stands to lose the investment of four generations.
Can I mend what I’ve broken and convince her not to make the biggest mistake of her life?
Every time I read another book in this series I’m surprised because I swear it won’t be better than the book before it…..and then it is. 😂😂 I always devour Erin’s books. Literally read them in one sitting and am always happy I did. Genesis and Will’s story is no exception. The longing and love between two friends who have never even met was so perfect. And of course we wouldn’t have a story without someone being a little dramatic (cough will cough) and there being a villain in the mix. Erin definitely added some definitely spicy spice 🌶️ with this book. I throughly enjoyed havung our favorite old characters pop up and make the book even richer with their appearances. Even old Coop was popping in with her antics. No spoilers here but if you are looking for an incredible series this is it!

I will be so incredibly sad to see this series end with book 5.
I received a digital ARC of this title as part of Erin’s ARC team. All opinions are my own.
Erin weaves an incredible tale of romance and suspense. I think this might be my favorite of the series. Each book has something that makes me emotional. The character development was great and had be flying through this book! Their relationship dynamic was really great to experience and watch them fight. Absolutely recommend this series!
As usual, Erin has such a special way of telling a love story, especially a cowboy’s. I adore this series and the characters. This is the fourth in her 𝘞𝘰𝘭𝘧 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘙𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴, and it might be my favorite! It’s filled with so much heart and intrigue, I couldn’t put it down. I loved the way Will and Genesis bonded before ever meeting each other, and then once they do meet, it’s pure chemistry. Once again, this series made me want to laugh, cry, and punch someone in the face, all on more than one occasion.
It was so fun to revisit the characters from the previous books in this series. Although this can be read as a standalone, I definitely recommend reading the others too. There is a lot going on throughout, and I don’t want to give anything away, but if you like: 🤍Romantic Suspense 🌼Single Mom 🩵Small Town 🌼He Falls First 🤍Friends to Lovers 🌼Age Gap 🩵Found Family 🌼Ranch Owner 🤍”It Was Always You” 🌼Dual POV 🩵Spice Then I highly recommend this book!

5🌟
Welcome to the fourth installment of the Wolf Mountain Ranchers series!! I am honestly so sad this series is slowly coming to an end, I have absolutely enjoyed ARC reading every single novel! I can’t thank Erin enough for trusting me with her works of art, it has truly been a privilege!
This story follows Will and Genesis who have had a long standing friendship all thanks to Gen’s late husband Collin who was friends with Will in their Army days.
When Will gets a job offering on the Branson Ranch he is thrilled to find out that his Gen was THE Gen all of them knew and he so stupidly used his middle name in greeting her in person because he was scared.
Though while in meeting Gen she was also unwillingly wrapped around a horrible man named Ford- who in my opinion, is a complete scum of the Earth.
Upon discovering Fords true intentions- she falls harder for Will all the while Will has treated her children, Jud and Willa, just as if they were his own, and if that ain’t the true definition of a step-father I don’t know what is.
I don’t want to give ((too)) many spoilers but this novel, just as the others, had a beautiful ending and my heart is filled again with so much love for all these cowboy men and what they would do for the women they love.
Will and Gen will forever be in my heart and I am SO excited to see Grant and Morgan’s story come to life!
I love Erin FitzGerald's Wolf Mountain Ranchers Series! The fourth installment features Will and Genesis with a story of friendship, loss, and a dangerous force keeping them apart.
"Life does not make mistakes, people do. When life brings us to a fork in the road, so many of us ignore the gentle nudge of what we know to be right, and we choose the wrong path."
Will frustrated me with his misguided honor to stay away from his best friend's wife when she needed him the most. I just wanted him to come clean earlier and accept the consequences his screw up caused. When he did man up, there was no stopping the hot alpha who finally takes charge by fighting for the woman he loved. Genesis's independence, sass, and strength is incredible as she owns and manages one of the best ranches around while raising two children. She exemplifies the epitome of a modern heroine, a force to be reckoned with, challenging the conventional norms with her unyielding spirit.
Ms. FitzGerald writes real honest-to-god normal people living normal lives. They’re about the beautiful moments in time. The quiet moments. The broken moments. She writes the type of stories that people relate to.
The beginning of Something Sacrificed was slow for me and it wasn't my favorite trope of the series, but all the characters are solid, the loveable dogs are sweet, and the happy ending is heartwarming. I can't wait to see what the author brings next.
Erin does it again. Honestly, every book I read in this series is my favorite of the series...until I read the next one. I always think Erin won't be able to out-do herself with the next one, and EVERY TIME I'm wrong! The way she's able to weave together romance and character development, and suspense is such a joy for the reader.
Will and Genesis...what can I say? I've seen Gen in and out randomly in the other 3 books and I'm so glad she got her own story. She deserved the spotlight (even if she didn't deserve the life she's had so far). Will was a wonderful character and man who made a stupid, stupid, honest mistake and let it snowball because...well, he's human, so he was embarrassed and shook in the moment and then the hole had been dug so deep he didn't see a way out of it.
I loved that this was not only a friends to lovers (which is not really my fav trope) slowburn romance, but it was ALSO a strangers to lovers, instalove story. I loved seeing it all unfold even if I was yelling at both of them a few times.
I took my time reading this book (3 days is a long time for me) because while I was SUPER EXCITED to read this, but I'm getting sad that the series is that much closer to being over. Seeing all the characters from the past books being such a big part of all the new books really does make me so happy. It's like returning to visit with friends.
Brava, Erin! I can't wait for the next one and thank you for this ARC! <3
This is a story of love, loss, betrayal and second chances. Genesis (Gen) and Will are both well defined characters that you can’t help but like. Their story starts with friendship through texts and emails, asking advice about the ranching business and slowly grows into something more after the death of her husband and his best friend. Fate and a need for a change finally brings them physically into the same orbit. Confusion and tangled emotions reign as Genesis starts to feel something different about her pen pal Will, discovers she feels a connection to the new manger on a neighbouring ranch, and wonders if she should be giving a trusted figure on her own ranch a chance to be something more. I have to admit that I was not happy with Will’s deception and the mess he finds himself in because of it, though he does manage to redeem himself. Genesis’s grief and loneliness has left her vulnerable to a predator and could cost her everything she holds dear. Fortunately she has people in her corner, including Will, who step up to keep that from happening.
This book is sometimes very emotional and intense, includes some rather disturbing twists, and is hard to put down until you have read the last page. The author made it easy to become invested in Genesis and Will’s lives and to want a happily ever after for them. I would give this book two thumbs up, much more than five stars and my highest recommendation.
I loved loved loved this story!! I was quickly drawn in by Will (MMC) and Genesis (FMC) -thanks to the dual pov and the author’s excellent writing style. I did want to shake Will a few times during the story so he would come clean to Genesis earlier but I liked the way their relationship plays out. I was suspicious of the villain (I’m not going to give anything away I hope!) from the start as they gave me the creeps. I liked the twists in the villains’ part of the plot too. It was also interesting to read how both Will and Genesis dealt with their (shared) trauma and grief. I loved the secondary characters some of whom I’ve met before in the previous books in the series. My favourite new secondary character was Willa -especially her tea party with Will and the makeup she makes him wear! That scene had me giggling! Something Sacrificed is an excellent cowboy romance with a strong single mother FMC who will do anything to protect her ranch and her children. I can’t wait to read the 5th book in the series!
I will forever be grateful for discovering Erin and her books. I swear each book gets better and better and I was really excited for this one.
This is the 4th book in the Wolf Mountain Ranchers series which follows Will and Genesis story. This is friends to lovers, although I would say it also falls in strangers to lovers trope. Will and Genesis become very good friends through Genesis late husband, but they never met. And when they do meet? There’s chemistry, slow burn, and spiciness if you know what I mean 🥵. But there are also obstacles that they need to overcome which I think in the end only makes their relationship stronger. It’s a story that will break your heart and put it back together in a beautiful way.
If you love cowboy romance this is the one for you 👆🏻💙
ARC Review- This series just keeps getting better! I don’t think I’ve ever been this invested in a group of connected story lines and characters. Will and Genesis have a beautiful story filled with emotion, heartbreak, suspense, and healing. Wolf Mountain Ranchers series forever 🩵
I’m a huge fan of Erin, all her books from this series have captivated my heart.
Something Sacrificed was beautiful, I rated it 5 STARS. This story gave me all the emotions. Erin really knows how to get you hooked, I enjoyed being on my toes with all the twist and secrets. I absolutely loved Genesis and Will, and their happy ending.
Highly recommended Erin’s Wolf Mountain Ranchers series!
Unsurprisingly, I totally adored this story. Bestie Erin, you did it again what can I say. Nobody has emotional romance mastered the way she does.
Will's story is inspired by one of her close friends who wasn't in this world long enough to get a happy ending of his own. This story is a gift to him that creates a happy ending that he deserves. I could absolutely tell while reading that this story had more of a personal touch than the others in the series. There is this unspoken depth to the characters that makes this one additionally hard-hitting. There were also just general moments where it was obvious that more of Erin's personal touches were shining through. For example, as a Food Network girlie myself, I could tell Erin actually watches those shows too. Those little sparks of her are what make the book feel special.
The way the characters are described is particularly beautiful. I could feel Genesis and Will's pure awe towards each other. It was refreshing to see two strong characters fall for each other. Neither of them pulled any punches. Their headstrong attitudes feed into the angst perfectly. I also love how the angst is prominent but doesn't come off as juvenile.
There were a few moments that made me fall in love and Will and Genesis. These include Will's adorable happy dance, Willa's disaster sushi fascination, Jud's brutal honesty that he knows exactly what his mother is up to, and Genesis' moments where she stands up to Ford. Ford, all I will say is that I hope you continue to have the future you deserve (no spoilers here). I am shocked at how well Erin incorporated characters from past books this time. Every time someone we recognize met Will, it was for a legitimate reason and didn't feel forced.
This story most definitely includes spice scenes that are very spicy. If you don't like spice, I would suggest skipping this book. The spice was giving and most definitely had me blushing while reading.
Overall if you couldn't tell, I adored this book. Everything about it hit and felt so authentic to Erin and the series as a whole. I will be sad to read the last book and conclude the series later this year so prepare for a sob fest when that happens. I will be constantly recommending this book and the series as a whole!
I guess you can tell how good a book is when it makes you feel all this raw emotions and makes them come alive. I felt joy, love, loss, grief, sadness, anger, blind rage and shock all through the pages of this book. I really, really liked this story. Miss Erin is becoming an instant grab/buy/read for me! I found myself cursing at the characters and giving some eye rolls, as if it made a difference and they could hear me in the story (silly, silly me 🤭 ) I also get a little worked up with miscomunication and well this book has some!
Genesis is a widower and a ranch owner in Montana. Will works helping ranches make profit, but lately has the need to settle down and find his place. They are friends, aquaintanced by her late husband, but never met in person. Besides that they already have some feelings toward one another even if they hide them (after all, how can you like someone you've never met?). When Will realises that he is working next to Gen, he does what any teenager (over forty!) Would do... he freezes and pretends to be someone else! Well that makes a difficult situation even harder. Mainly because Gen is seeing someone at the time (Ford) and is about to make a mistake that can cost her everything. That angst that Gen was doing the wrong thing and throwing her chance at happiness away by settling (and settling so wrong) got me really worked up that I wanted to shake her to make her really see the good she had in front of her! Of course that Will's lousy choice didn't helped this at all. He was so dumb to lie. And of course that as the time passed, the lie became bigger like a snow ball... And can we be any more mad at Ford.. gosh. I wanted to beat him up all the way through the book. I liked the other side characters as well. It was goos to revisit some of our beloved past charaters and se them interact in the story. I love a found family and close unit so..
This is such a beautiful love story full of heartbreak, hard times, and healing. I had a really hard time putting this one down.
Genesis is such a beautiful woman, so much so that it just radiates off the pages. She is gentle, kind, loyal, and strong. Dealing with the ins & outs of her family's ranch, the loss of her husband, raising her children, and all of the other struggles unearthed within this book... My heart wept for this woman.
Will's character was almost the idea of perfection because his deception was really hard for me to come to terms with. At first, I didn't fully understand why it was done that way - like, what was the purpose of hiding? But towards the end, learning his true heart & and reasonings softened me to this man all the more.
The side characters are so strong in this book. I really love how they are all interconnected and take care of one another. It's more than Friends & Neighbors. It's truly a ranch family dynamic out here in the mountains. The found family trope is so strong in this book, and it is done SO WELL. I love it.
Favorite scenes without spoilers!!! 1. I loved Wills' relationship with Earl. It was so true & genuine. The evening cuddles, the attitude, the joy, etc. I loved it when he snubbed his nose at the peace offering bacon. Lmao 2. The act of defiling a specific article of clothing. That was epic! 3. The time when Willa put Ford in his place at the breakfast table. That was really spunky & intuitive of such a young girl.
This is so far my favorite book in this series. The pacing was excellent. The suspense was great. The spice was slow burning but hot. The characters were interesting, exciting, and relatable. The connections are felt and undeniable when. The author did such a great job drawing me in, trapping me willfully between these pages & holding me hostage .... I loved every friggin minute
Genesis Dawson, an only child, carries the weight of a 4-generation family legacy as she manages the Dawson ranch in Montana, her parents having passed away years earlier. Her life was once intertwined with her husband Collin, a partnership abruptly severed by a tragic accident. Now, with her son Jud off at college, she navigates the challenges of raising young Willa alone. Genesis finds solace in the text messages exchanged with Will DeSantis, a ranch management consultant in Texas, and her late husband's best friend from their Army days.
Will tells a lie of omission, a decision made on the spur of the moment. The lie and Will's actions beyond that momentary choice made this a complicated novel for me to read. A lie of omission and subsequent actions (although a different scenario) triggered memories in my history that were tough to live through and changed my outlook on trusting men. After delving into 3 books in this series, if I were to describe the author's writing, I'd use romance tropes such as slow-burn, second chance, and happily ever after. In projecting my history onto Genesis and Will’s relationship, I couldn't fathom how their relationship could evolve into a slow-burn, second chance, and happily ever after. I thought of the relationship as a screeching halt, with no chance, and happily evading misery. Yet, I was compelled to continue reading. I needed to discover Genesis's choice.
I kept reading and was reminded of something profound when a reader isn’t sure if a story is for them. I discovered this novel is for me. This novel is one of the many reasons I read. When individuals read books, it is easy to project their backgrounds, experiences, and feelings onto their characters regardless of genre. We can learn something valuable when the storyline takes us beyond what we know and feel. We can open our minds and hearts to new perspectives, albeit different from our own. I couldn't imagine the reaction that Will would receive to his lie of omission and subsequent actions. I was surprised when I knew not the knee-jerk reaction but the thoughtful reaction. I was surprised because it made so much sense to me. With its unexpected twists and turns, this novel challenged my preconceived notions. It was a perspective I had never thought of and opened a new thought window. It was a perspective unique because it was a different scenario and a history unique to Genesis and Will. I loved it!
ARC REVIEW of Something Sacrificed by the wonderfully talented, Erin FitzGerald 🩵🌾🌻 Format: Kindle (arc)
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 STARS
Available June 18, 2024 on KindleUnlimited and at erinfitzgeraldwrites.com
I completed my read of book four in the Wolf Mountain Ranchers series, and these novels have such a huge place in my heart for so many reasons. I cannot believe there is only one novel left in this series 🥹 I love them all so much.
I love reading a novel and just knowing VERY EARLY ON that you are experiencing a 5 star read. This. Whole. Series. Is. That. Girl. And. Will. Forever. Be. That. Girl. I am seriously so excited to add book four to my physical collection.
Highlights: I LOVE the relationship Genesis (Gen) has with Collin’s parents, and her ability to survive against all tragedies she faces with strength and dignity. She is such a well-written female heroine, and I love her story.
I love Will’s devotion to not only Gen but her children as well (Jud & Willa), and the journey they make as a family to find their HEA together.
I love getting to know each family in the Montana community surrounding these ranches, and I am so excited to get to know Grant and Morgan in their story to come.
Lastly, the chemistry between Gen and Will was tangible, and electrifying through these pages (my screen), this has been my favorite Wolf Mountain Ranchers romance thus far!
Tropes: ☀️ western romance ☀️ veteran x widowed single mom ☀️ farmers ☀️ romantic suspense ☀️ friends to lovers ☀️ found family
Thank you @erinfitzgeraldwrites for allowing me to read your ARC of Something Sacrificed ♥️ huge hearts to you.
𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐝 is the 4th book in the Wolf Mountain Ranchers series by Erin FitzGerald, featuring an emotional friends to lovers romantic suspense story for Will and Genesis that you don’t want to miss. Will was best friends with her late husband, and the two of them have been long-distance friends for two decades without meeting. When Will decides to move to Montana for a job, he’s shocked to run into Genesis. His split second decision changes everything. Now he has a hill to climb to fix things, and Genesis’ ranch is under threat. Can he get through to her before it’s too late?
Holy Plot Twists!! I am loving this series so much! These characters are so compelling— Genesis with her unwavering strength in the face of grief, loss, and new turmoil. And while I wanted to shake Will for keeping his secret for so long I loved his connection with Genesis, and watching it bloom was a joy! Don’t get me started on the scenes with Will and little Willa!! Cuteness overload!!🥰 The suspense aspect was full of intrigue, drama, and a horrendous villain! I was riveted to my device the entire time!! I also have to mention the world building and the supporting characters that are fantastic throughout the series, but they really come through in this one during the drama! I love a good found family vibe, and these ranchers definitely bring that!! I cannot wait for the next book, so I can visit this world again!!
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶
At this point Erin just owns a piece of my heart. I am drawn to her story telling like a magnet. And these cowboys are just so🥵.
The entire series has been very well written and has quickly become one of the best small town romance series that I’ve read. This is the fourth book of the series and it’s another winner. The story is told in dual pov and follows the FMC, Genesis and the MMC, Will. It features several popular tropes including small town, found family, single mother, and friends to lovers. This story was suspenseful, emotional, funny, and a good slow burn that warms you like a smooth shot of whisky. 🥃
This series has me in a true chokehold and I can’t help it! Her writing just draws you in and snatches your heartstrings. I luv the attention to detail in the character development that she puts into her storylines. I always walk away feeling like I know these characters so extensively. She also writes great supporting characters and I enjoy the value they add to the story line. The Single mother trope is one of my favorites. It’s usually a good time getting to know the personalities of the children. Genesis’ kiddos, Willa and Jud and their relationships with Genesis and Will were some of my favorite moments in the book.
Also, I think we can all disrespectfully agree that Ford is a piece of 💩. No apologies. Bye Felicia! ✌🏾
Please be advised that grief and loss are featured in this story line, so if you are easily triggered proceed with caution. ⚠️
A suspenseful read that kept me coming back for more.
Will & Genesis have never met one another but have been friends through a screen for years. Their mutual love for Collin, Gen’s deceased husband & Will's Army buddy, has brought them closer than anyone could imagine.
After a surprise encounter & a (big) white lie, can they have a future together?
Erin has such a knack for deep storytelling & for building diverse characters that I am always pleasantly surprised by her novels, and Something Sacrificed was no exception.
I loved seeing how Will cared for his best friend's family when Collin couldn’t do it himself, with no expectations. The thoughtfulness of sending Christmas gifts each year, along with on the anniversary of Collin's death, shows just how caring & observant Will is to those he cares for and how much thought Erin puts into her characters.
Genesis is such a strong & independent woman who works hard to provide a stable life for her family. She has been through so much trauma & heartbreak in her life that you can’t help but hope for her to find a second chance at love. I loved seeing her confidence grow as the story progressed and how she took charge of her life when backed into a corner.
While I had expected the white lies & secrets to come to the surface sooner, I was still shocked at all of the unexpected twists & turns that Erin weaved through the story that kept me on my toes.
This was the forth book in the Wolf Mountain Ranchers series!! That actually shocks be I’ve been reading this series since book one and the stories get better and better.. but also I think I want to work for Mark Branson.lol
It’s one thing about Erin, her character have to really 1. wait at least a decade and 2. work hard for their happily ever after… so this time we follow Genesis who is a widow and runs her families farm while taking care of her two kids. and Will is single and feeling a little stuck in life, so he decides to leave Texas for a job in Montana, and this is where things get a little tricky for Will.
Speaking of Will… whew did he really stressed me out from the time he got to the rodeo till the last page.. I kept screaming at my tablet for him to stop being foolish!! However, the chemistry between him and Gen was instant and leaping off the pages. Genesis had a lot of things she needed to work through and let go of especially Ford.
I loved the pacing of this story, the timeline felt very realistic and I feel like the character really did earn for HEA, oh I also really like Julie and how she was there for Gen never judged her. I was so glad we got to catch up with Jacob and Emily and my girl Emily is doing so good!!
The things I enjoyed the most about this book was that yes it was a little sad at time, but even with the insane chemistry and all the drama the main characters had, the author still focused on the romance, and that’s why I’m here! We got one more book left and I’m sad this series will be coming to an end.
Something Sacrificed is the fourth book in the Wolf Mountain Ranchers series. Will needs a change, and his move from Texas to Montana has some people shaking their heads. There's nothing for him in Texas, and his move to the Branson ranch in Montana is just what the doctor ordered. Will wasn't expecting to meet Genesis, his best friend's widow, who has also been his faceless pen pal for years. One look and one handshake has him flustered, in love, and telling little white lies.
Now, Will has to find a way to fix his little problem with Genesis. Unfortunately, there are road blocks around every turn and one of them turns out to be a huge threat to him, Genesis, and everything she holds dear, including her independence.
So much with the emotions! Something Sacrificed is told from Genesis and Will's POVs. Their story is heart-wrenching on so many levels and in so many ways. The story was emotionally compelling. I felt each person’s frustrations, sadness, anger, and pain, as well as their happiness, excitement, and joy.
I adore this author’s writing style. The dialogue is smooth and conversational. FitzGerald created a wonderful world with three-dimensional characters. Both characters have emotional baggage and trauma, but are written delicately and realistically. The plot twist had my jaw dropping to the floor.
I was completely invested in this story, the characters, and their journey to the happily ever after they deserved.
I thought that the first book would always be my favorite but this has taken my breath away. Erin’s book just keep getting better and better the more I read. I don’t know how she does it each book but I can never get enough of the characters and always want to see more of them. Each book makes me fall harder and cry more.
Will and Genesis have been friends for years because of Collin Genesis’s late husband. For over 15 years or so they talked over text never taking it farther even after Collin’s passing they never moved on from being only friends. They had never met in person but still kept a close connection to each other for years.
Will eventually gets a job offer to help run Marks ranch making him move from Texas to Montana. While he knew Gen lived in Montana and had her own ranch her never expected her to by pretty much the door neighbor. When they finally meet in person Will freaks and lies about who he is when he sees Gen with another man’s arms around her. That’s when he decides to keep his distance from her but he never realized how hard it was going to be to fight their connection. Because when Will finds something out that could ruin Gen’s life he will doing anything to help her.
Please please go read this book. It will have feeling so many emotions that you might hate but you will love every second of it. This book has made it into my top 5 reads of this year. I cannot wait to see what the next brings🫶
If you haven’t checked out Erin’s Wolf Mountain Ranchers Series, then you must! This is book 4, and I truly love all of these characters and their stories!
Blurb: Some people would call this a midlife crisis, but I know better. I’m too old for that. Pulling up my shallow roots, I decide on a whim to move from Texas to Montana, leaving what I’ve known for the past three decades. The woman I cross paths with at the county fair is one I’ve known from a distance for twenty years, someone to whom I’ve grown close: My best friend’s widow, Genesis Dawson, who’s running the family ranch after her husband’s tragic death. Startled by her unexpected appearance, I muddy the waters, creating a situation I can’t seem to fix. But a bigger problem is that her ranch is under threat and she stands to lose the investment of four generations.
Can I mend what I’ve broken and convince her not to make the biggest mistake of her life?
I loved Genesis and Will’s story.
Genesis is such a strong character, and I just love her. Owns her own ranch, she’s a widow, and she’s a mom. Watching her grow and handle it all was so impressive, and I was rooting for her to find happiness. I loved the past connections with Will, and watching their story come together.
Thank you Erin for allowing me to read this as an ARC!!
An emotional story of loss, friendship, betrayal, and healing - I absolutely love this 4th installment to the Wolf Mountain Ranchers series! Erin's writing style is captivating and she creates beautifully written characters that you feel familiar with - love 'em or hate 'em. The dual POV is always appreciated - seeing how things unfold through the eyes of each party allows for a deeper understanding of each character's feelings and motivations.
Gen's story is one of love, loss, family legacy, and a strength she probably didn't know she had until she was forced to face struggles on her own... with a little help from a supportive long-distance pen pal. Will's story is one of a workaholic with short-lived relationships, without real substance or commitment, while pining for a long-distance pen pal he feels guilty having feelings for... And that's when fate steps in and they are unexpectedly face-to-face. Watching their story unfold was both heart-warming and aggravating. It was hard to put the book down because I was wrapped up and wanted to know what would happen next! Each has a tendency of getting in their own way (their first face-to-face for starters... iykyk) but they fought hard to unburden themselves of the things that were hindering their relationship journey and it was a beautiful thing.
Well, I didn't think anybody could beat out Ashley & Travis for my favorite couple of the series, but here we are. Something Sacrificed is book #4 of the Wolf Mountain Ranchers series and it's my favorite. I could not put this one down!
Will & Genesis's late husband, Collin, were friends from back in their army days. Over the years, Will & Genesis developed a deep friendship with each other even though they never met in person. Now, Will is moving to Montana and he runs into her at the fair and creates a situation of hidden identity. (He knew what she looked like but she didn't know what he looked like). Now he must figure out how to fix this before it goes too far.
I'm not going to lie... I wanted to slap some sense into Will a few times. But I loved his relationship with Genesis. They had such a true genuine friendship. These two were put through the ringer to get to their HEA. This book is full of suspense and twists that you don't see coming. Erin has such a way with words that makes you want to keep turning the page and never put it down. I was hooked instantly.
Tropes: -Single Mom -Hidden Identity -Suspense -Friends to lovers -Small town -Found family
Thank you so much Erin FitzGerald for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
ARC Book Review Something Sacrificed A Novel Written By Erin FitzGerald Fiction - Romance Published June 2024 312 Pages ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the fourth book in the author’s Wolf Mountain Ranchers Series. Book 4 focuses on the relationship between Genesis Dawson and Will DeSantis. Their relationship involves a love triangle, double identity, friends to lovers, and second chances.
Genesis and Will have developed a friendship over twenty years, but they have never met. After Will relocates to Montana for a new job, he discovers he is living near Genesis. This complicates their friendship.
The author has written a villain into this story. Ford Taylor is a despicable human being. He uses blackmail to get what he wants. His deceitful ways throw a wrench into the lives of both Will and Genesis.
I loved both main characters. Genesis is a fighter, especially when it comes to her family and their legacy. Will has a heart of gold and is willing to fight for what is important to him.
“…. and I couldn’t help but think once again that blood meant nothing; it was who the heart chose that meant everything.”
I’m not sure 5 stars are enough for this incredible cowboy romance! I’m so sad that this series is coming to an end, but Erin Fitzgerald has outdone herself with Will and Genesis’ story. From the moment I started reading, I was hooked - the dual POV and excellent writing style drew me in and refused to let go. I loved both main characters, especially Will’s gentle and patient nature with Genesis and her children. And those children, Jud and Willa, stole my heart! But, I have to admit, the miscommunication between Will and Genesis had me irked, but the way the author wove everything together and made it all work out in the end was pure genius. It all made sense, and I was absolutely satisfied with the conclusion. The villain had me on edge, and the twists and turns kept me invested until the very end. I also appreciated how the author handled trauma and grief in this story. The secondary characters added so much depth and humor to the story, especially Willa’s tea party with Will - I was giggling out loud! This book has everything: romance, drama, suspense, and cowboy charm. I can’t wait to read the next, and last book in the series!
What a page turner! I couldn’t get enough of this book. Genesis has lost her husband-wait til you find out what truly happened to him. What a turn of events! Her husband’s best friend, whom she’s never met, but has been friends through messages, finally meet when he moves to Monatana. They meet at a fair while Genesis is there with Ford, who works for her at her ranch. Wait til you see how Will introduces himself to Genesis.
As time goes on, Will (Laurance-you will see how this name comes into play) and Genesis’s connection grows. Their chemistry is off the charts. Genesis keeps pulling back though. Is she really ready to move on from her husband? Than you have Ford, he thinks he can be the one for Genesis. Wait til you find out the lengths he goes through to insinuate himself into her life.
In the end secrets and identities will be revealed. Will Genesis and Will be able to get through everything together or will it destroy them forever? I was definitely rooting for them to get past everything and realize maybe, just maybe they could be great together.
