The premise is good, but after parts one and two, part three becomes too longtrodden. Also, Stinissen is a bit too loose on his references and too eager to trust his sources. Yes, many of them are rooted well in the Christian tradition, but also some are more obscure mystics and such that to take their words as canon seems a bit far out there in the pick and choose for the narrative of the book. That is why this book did often not feel like a theologically solid fundament, but rather a more open and wide toward all of the Christian tradition making it fuzzy at parts. It is like swimming in a wide ocean and from time to time finding a good little island with food, only in order to have to jump in again to find the next one.
