"Lumberjack John" written by Irene Lawless tells the charming love story of John Robbins, a humble and quiet lumberjack, and Frankie Evans, a determined woman from England. Frankie's journey to the United States in search of a forestry expert to save a vital area in his homeland sets the stage for a captivating narrative full of love, passion, and adventure. The author skillfully weaves in the rustic charm of Wisconsin, creating a vivid backdrop for a blossoming relationship. The chemistry between the main characters is palpable and their connection feels genuine and touching. Asthey navigate the challenges of their very different worlds, readers are treated to a story that is both moving and inspiring. It's a must-read for anyone who loves a good romance.
Lumberjack John is a wonderful story so beautifully written. I absolutely adore Irene Lawless' work and her ability to create well-rounded characters in fascinating settings. I read everything she publishes and always end up wanting more.
Love knows no distance in this story of unrequited love and second chances. I found myself rooting for the characters who are fun and down to earth. Please don't miss this gem.
A feisty woman (Frankie) from England comes to the northern Wisconsin woods to learn more about forest restoration and management. She disrupts John’s quiet, predictable life in an unexpected way.
Loved this story set in Wisconsin woods. She is English and working to restore polluted lands and forests. She flies to America to find the man whose family has been doing the same thing for the past century so she can learn from that success and take it back to England. Enjoyed how their relationship developed and lead to their own HEA. So good, read in one sitting.
What an amazing story that wrapped itself around generations of two families on opposite sides of an ocean. The story concept was so simple yet complex, including two family member journals, one occupational drive encompassing four individuals, the desire to continue conservation methods to restore forests still struggling to grow decades after a world war. Two of those individuals met by chance and then two generations later, two met on purpose for the knowledge each possessed about conservation methods. The characters were real and likable, the storyline flowed well and there was just enough angst to keep me wondering how this would all end. The feel good ending is the kind that makes you smile and reflect on all the good points in this book. Well done, Ms Lawless!
It was a quick and entertaining read. Like all other romance novels, John and Frankie, as the protagonists, are a good match. They complement each other and are a perfect fit for one another. The dialogues are funny and witty, especially on John's side. I have read some of the author's work, and it does not disappoint; the combination of sexy, comedy, and emotional connection that most women crave delivers in her books. She should write a lumberjack collection so that we can read more about John and his friends, who are protecting the forests of Wisconsin and surrounding areas. John's character is someone people would like to have around. He is capable, strong, and soft like a teddy bear.
A quick read to tackle my Goodreads challenge. Change of characters for me - I don't think I've ever read of a conservationist seeking out a lumberjack (but I have read many stories featuring lumberjacks ... as lumber*snacks* LOL).
What a relief that although - SPOILER - their grandparents had gotten together, they're not related! I.e., the long ago affair did not bear fruit. They each married other people and continued their bloodlines to current-day characters.
This was a fun and cute read. Frankie is from the UK and searching to restore the trees with the help of John. Who btw is in America. She travels all this way in hopes of getting help. Little bits and pieces reveal they have more in common than they thought. Will she land her a lumberjack?
What I really liked from this story is the setting and the slow-burning romance between John and Frankie. The author develops the characters in a way that you think you know them. This is a delightful read for anyone who enjoys small-town romances with a touch of mystery and a lot of heart.
I loved this! This one is a definite reread. Very relatable characters, and I loved the whole conversation between the MC and her boss when she finally video called her boss. It made me laugh out loud. The author had the perfect amount of push/pull between the two MCs. I will be reading more from this author.
