Partout, les arbres refleurissent. Et le mage Bedlam, affreux gnome qui règne en tyran sur les terres de l'Eruin Dulea, y lit les signes annonciateurs de l'accomplissement des légendes : "Le jour où les arbres de vérité refleuriront, ce qui est mort en ces terres revivra... Un chant se lèvera, et celui qui l'entendra reprendra la lutte contre l'usurpateur".Un matin à l'aube, en effet, un chant se lève sur les plaines : la Complainte des Landes Perdues. Celle qui l'entend, c'est Sioban, fille du Loup Blanc et seule héritière véritable des terres de l'Eruin Dulea. Ce jour-là, une armée fantastique surgit de nulle part et conduit Sioban jusqu'aux Landes Perdues : les soldats de son père, morts au combat, qui se sont relevés pour elle.Seamus, son protecteur, l'avait prévenue qu'un jour, une question lui serait posée : "Le mal est-il au coeur de l'amour ?" Et là-haut sur les Landes, son père lui redit que le plus difficile ne sera pas de gagner d'horribles batailles, mais de "frapper au coeur du mal" - qui est peut-être au coeur de l'amour. En effet, de maléfices en sortilèges, le diable lui-même n'y reconnaît plus ses petits.Inspirée d'une littérature anglo-saxonne fantastique, violente et bariolée, une histoire pleine de sombres magies, mais aussi d'un humour pimpant illustré, entre autres, par Ouki, adorable bestiole un peu ivrogne et tout à fait indestructible : après avoir ingurgité une marmite entière de poison réputé capable de tuer un boeuf (glaires de crapauds, jus d'araignée, etc...), elle émet un vague "burp" et va s'endormir dans un coin...

64 STRONG pages of excellent storytelling and magnificent art- if it were interlocked with the first tome in the same book then I would shelve it masterpiece.

I have found the second volume of this series in English on Kindle Unlimited. The art is still as good as in the first volume, but the story telling has gone completely awry. This episode is marred by bundling up what should be an epic quest into a very short narrative, with wordy reveals, little or no jeopardy and a facile victory handed on a plate to the protagonist, who happens to be collected by an invincible ghost army, and strikes down the enemy with one blow. That’s such a shame. And yet this is a continuing series? What was that about? Disappointing.

Dans la même veine que le premier tome! L'histoire est toujours classique, mais intéressante. Le dessin, franchement, très beau. Mais mon dieu, que parfois, c'est cliché, sans surprise, et de plus en plus sans intérêt.
Je continue, parce qu'il ne reste que deux tomes, mais il est difficile de s'attacher aux personnages qui ne semblent reliés qu'à un destin que rien ne peut changer, et j'ai l'impression que ça restera comme ça jusqu'à la fin de la série!

Recenzja dla całego oryginalnego dyptyku (komiksy 1-4 cyklu).
Kreska Rosińskiego zachwyca jak dawniej. Scenariusz Dufaux daje radę, ale ani Van Hamme ani Duchâteau to to nie jest. Wolałem drugą część dyptyku (zeszyty 3-4), bo nie wymagała tyle wprowadzenia w historię i bohaterów i miała więcej konfliktu i dynamizmu (również w strukturze narracji). Najslabszym zeszytem wydaje się być dwójka, gdzie ma się wrażenie mocnej kompresji i przyśpieszenia fabuły, żeby się zmieścić z końcówką.
Wydanie Egmonta w twardej oprawie rewelacyjne.

Продовження боротьби зі злим-призлим магом, яке обертається майже індійською драмою з неочікуваними родичами. Сюжет дуже прямий. Сіобан кілька разів намагаються вбити, але вона “Ай’м файн”, а ще армія мертвяків супроводжує її на містичну зустріч з батьком. Далі, власне, боротьба, неочікуваний індійський камінаут, гепіенд.
От що вийшло чудово - так це батальні сцени.
А ще фінал такий типу “Зло переможене? Але чи це точно, га?”

An even better dark fantasy aesthetic in this 2nd volume. Since one's familiar with the characters and lore, the exposition wasn't as tedious as before and besides the soft magic system being a bit too much in service of the plot, it was a good ending. Very curious as to how the series continues.

If you like Rosinski’s artwork, and I certainly do, then you’re in for a treat as not only is there a new Thorgal out but there’s a new Lament Of The Lost Moors, too.
As the last descendant of the Kings of Sudenne, Siobhán’s life is at threat from Lord Blackmore and the over-ruling sorcerer Beldam, but she does have allies even though she may not entirely be aware of the events moving around her. When the Lament finally sounds it is in the nick of time, and it brings a legion of undead soldiers and horsemen to escort Siobhán to the final resting place of her father where, through a rather bizarre yet pleasing method, he is able to communicate with her and explain her destiny.
Out to sea, Seamus and the Warriors of Mercy begin battle with Beldam’s navy before the walls of Blackmore’s castle, but with Blackmore himself away the castle’s defenders choose to assist the Warriors of Mercy and so turn the tide of that battle. Taking her warriors, Siobhán sets off to face the diminished armies of Beldam but once face-to-face with the sorcerer she learns some family history she’d rather be ignorant of before an even greater secret is revealed.
The book is, undoubtedly, attempting to invoke the spirit of a tale of epic proportions, with it’s grand villains, major battles, dark secrets and mysterious characters, but for all of the fantastic art and some wonderfully done set pieces, for some reason the final few pages all feel extremely hurried in a desperate rush to wrap everything up. This is odd, when several pages are donated to the utterly frivolous sub-plot of the castle’s cook battling with the Ookee. At the time, maybe Dufaux was under the impression the series wouldn’t continue (it in fact runs to several more volumes) but it certainly feels like an anti-climax.
That said, there is much promise within these pages, not least the very dark undertones of the villainous characters and the world that they operate in. The pool on the moor sequence is nicely done (and well-paced too) as is the initial gathering before Beldam upon his throne. For me, what makes this book a must-read is how Rosinski brings it all to life, and perhaps in the hands of another artist it just wouldn’t work as well.
Regardless of any misgivings for the pacing of the ending, this is still more than worthy of your attention, especially in light of where the story could take us next, so do look out for the third volume coming soon.

Quel plaisir de retrouver les Landes perdues !
Nous sommes heureux de revoir Sioban, sa mère et Ouki cette petite bête qui nous fait bien rire depuis le début de cette saga.
Les forces du mal sont cependant inquiètes, car une force bienveillante revient et pas sous n’importe quelle forme.
Nous nous demandons qui est réellement le Mage Bedlam, ce personnage audieux et qui sait très bien incarner la méchanceté.
Ouki est intriguant aussi, il paraît être une être fort sans que nous ne sachions réellement d’où il tient cette force.
A un moment, nous nous inquiétons pour Sioban. L’angoisse est à son comble, mais nous sommes vite rassurés. Et de là, nous retrouvons le personnage mystérieux se nommant Seamus. Il semble connaître beaucoup de choses, surtout sur la vie de Sioban.
La vie revient et l’angoisse grandit dans les murs du château. Beaucoup d’actions arrivent d’un coup, la roue tourne et toute la vie des personnes habitant le château est chamboulée.
Nous voyons des combats arriver de toute part.
Par la suite, nous apprenons qui est Sioban et son passé au travers de nombreux retours en arrière et d’histoires racontées.
Nous sommes tristes de voir la perte d’un personnage que nous apprécions vraiment beaucoup.
À la fin, nous sommes surpris de voir qui est réellement le mage Bedlam et nous comprenons pourquoi nous ne l’aimions pas.
La fin est vraiment bien amenée et nous avons hâte de voir ce que va devenir Sioban, notre personnage favori.
Est-ce que j’ai aimé ce livre ?

This is the second album of Jean Dufaux and Grzegorz Rosinski's series Lament of the Lost Moors, and it is a direct continuation of the first album,
Siobhan
. Siobhan, daughter of Lady O'Mara and the deceased Wulf, the White Wolf, chooses to oppose the evil sorcerer Beldam, and follows the path of prophecy, heeding the Lament of the Lost Moors. Meanwhile, her mother's new husband, her uncle, Lord Blackmore, is not necessarily what he seems, and questions of bloodlines and rightful rule saturate the story. The reader also learns more about the stranger, Séamus, and the Warriors of Mercy, to whom he belongs.
All in all, this kind of closes the first direct arc (albeit not the first cycle) of the series, and I enjoyed it a lot.

The first one was interesting enough to convince me to read the second, which was kinda dumb. Things tied up too neatly and the author is far too convinced of how clever and profound he is.
