FIRST IMPRESSION:
A romance story written from a boy's point of view sounded pretty neat. I guess it made me instantly think, "Oh, why not?" because it's obvious boys aren't going to be as "girly" as girls.

WRITING STYLE:
Passable. Nothing impressive, but cold hard words typed onto a piece of paper.

PLOT:
So unrealistic I wasn't sure why I bothered finishing the book. Why would anybody get tickets for their daughter and friends to head over to their hotel so they can work? And what's more, why do they need to work in first place? Why would you even go somewhere to work?

CHARACTERS:
Hated both the main characters. Both are overly perfect. Eve, for instance, has blonde hair, the perfect body, is adorable, has the most "amazing" voice, has guys hitting on her all the time, etc. Luke has girls looking at him all the time, has blond hair, is considered to be attractive and just... plain shallow. I hated both of them. Instead, I liked the supporting characters, Chloe and Ryan, more. They had a love/hate relationship going, which was much realistic than this rubbish between Eve and Luke considered "love."

OVERALL:
Wouldn't recommend it to anybody. I wonder how I managed to finish it. Maybe I thought there would be something to surprise me, but I was wrong.

I finshed this book in 1 day! I chose this book because I have read another book by Sophie Mckenzie and I really enjoyed it! Normally I wouldn't choose a book where the main charactor or the person telling the story is a boy but i'm glad I chose this one! I loved the fact that the ending was not the perfect storytale ending but it was really good! I loved how we found out about the charators before the main storyline begins! I like how the writer describes all the different emotions of the other charactors! I think Sophie Mckenzie has done really well because she doesn't know what boys think but in this story she has described it perfectly! I would recommend this book to teenage girls from the age of 12-14! I really enjoyed this book and I would love to read more of Sophie's books!

A story of a teen boy navigating his relationship with the girl of his dreams whilst on a summer break, and the third wheel that is her father.

The writing and dialogue felt smooth and I can't fault the style. I can understand why young adults may enjoy this book, but I found it hard to relate to/ like Luke. His jealousy was a bit much for me. Wary of every guy who talks to his girlfriend with a possessive inner monologue.

Ugh. OK, there were some fun elements but all in all, just too juvenile, too stupid. Characters too one-dimensional and not really believable.

I won't rate it, cause I wasn't able to finish it. This is the first book in ages that I let unfinished. I just couldn't take it anymore. The stupidity, the bland characters, the bad representation of every culture involved, the terrible spanish... and the misoginy, that was simply too much for me to take.

I'm starting my english lessons again next month, and I haven't been practicing at all, during my vacacion, so I was needing this. At the same time, I was craving for a light beach reading to end the summer. I bought this book maybe five years ago at a book store, knowing that it was the second book of the series. But I really didn't mind, cause I just wanted something that helped me with the language. Needless to say, I forgot about it until I made a deep cleaning im my room a few months back. And now was the time, or so I thought.

I was wrong.

It's written on the perspective of a teenage boy, so I understand the sexism to an extent. And it's written by a brit, so I understand the poor representation of Baleares' islands. But it became a lot. And I mean: A LOT. So much, that I had to look up the name of the author, cause I just couldn't believe that she was a woman.

I cannot find any positive comments for it. Specially taking into account that this is meant for teens. The mistreatment of all the female characters, the possesiveness, the infantilization and sexualization (yes, at the same time) of women is outragious. And even setting this aside, there are notorious problems with pacing in this book; a lot "happens" but nothing actually happens. And the narrator is just unbearable; I'd like to punch him in the face so bad.

All this might lead to a positive conclusion, or at least a lesson, in the end. But I won't wait for it to happen. I surrendered with this book.

Set a few months on from the first book, Eve and Luke along with Ryan and Chloe are heading off to Spain.

Luke's Mum then makes a shocking announcement after him and Chloe discover something in their house bin...

Whilst away Luke has to study to keep his mum back home happy that his grades won't slip and get any worse.

Whilst away in Spain working at Eve's dad's hotel, the couple have to hide or try to hide their feelings for each other as her father wants her to stay a little girl in his eyes especially when he pays for Eve and her mum's home, car and while life.

As the pair get approached by others interested in them, they go through fits of jealousy and rage that eventually leads them to outing themselves as a couple only for Eve's dad to have the last laugh...

This book focuses on the relationship Eve and her father have and all about growing up as well as dealing with an absent parent figure. It's also hard for Luke to see what another type of dad is like as his loss of his own father is still pretty raw for him. I would've like to have a perspective from Eve whether in this book or a separate novel but appreciate it's Like being All About Eve after all!

A fun but serious look at friendships and relationships growing up.

Luke and Eve are heading off on their first holiday together. But they're staying with Eve's dad in his Spanish hotel and things aren't going to go to plan...Eve's dad treats his daughter like a little girl - and if Luke was hoping for a some summer action with Eve, her father soon puts a stop to it. Eve showcases her singing with the hotel band in the evenings, which means she's spending a lot of time with the handsome male drummer. Luke's jealous, but a revenge snog with the gorgeous Catalina doesn't seem to help his relationship with Eve much, and Cat's boyfriend is none too pleased either. Suddenly, it's turning into a holiday from hell...

This book is annoying me.
I'm on the 4th chapter and I don't think I'm gonna read it anymore.
First of all, the main character is a boy, which is totally okay. But what's not okay is, the way the boy talks, just like girls. Most of the time I keep forgetting that the protagonist (?), Luke, is a male.
Then, he's got one hell of an irritating personality.
Eve, I think she's super boring. I don't know how she has all the boys and men looking at her all the time.
The writing does not have to be "impressive" for me but that doesn't mean it should be unimpressive and boring.

YA romance, but told from the boy's perspective. Luke is a bit of an emotional wreck and I'm not sure he's totally believable. He tends to pay too much attention to his girlfriend's clothes and over-all "gorgeousness" to be 100% true to his teenage boy status. That being said, it's a nice easy read with good 'voice' and a fast (yet predictable) plot. A good summer read.

It's the second book in the series, but I don't think you need to read the first one. It recaps the previous one in subtle ways.
