From their heritage trenches and ubiquitous check to experimental red carpet looks, the House of Burberry is known worldwide for its covetable designs. Sophisticated, simple, and quintessentially British, Burberry is beloved for its remarkable ability to straddle tradition and innovation. The allure of the 'Burberry Girls', like Cara Delevingne, Kate Moss or Naomi Campbell, epitomizes just what Burberry is aspiration, elegance and grace. Featuring an exquisite range of photographs, from finished designs to close-up details and beautifully styled shots, this book pulls back the curtain on the story behind the brand. Touching on its humble beginnings in 1856, all the way up to its current designs, this invaluable reference is the definitive word on all things Burberry.
Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. Branding on steroids!! A magnificent one-sitting read. If you want to get away from he noise and busyness of life, this little book is just what the doctor ordered. A great story about intentionally building a legacy with a team that understands the vision, their roles and most importantly, a team that has a stake in the success of the vision.
EXTREME props to gilroy -- out of all writers for this collection, I feel she has done brands the most justice. Firstly, an equal focus on the beginnings to current day of the fashion house. Secondly, actually talking about the 'chav' aspect of high end fashion houses that gucci and other's covered in this collection ignored completely. Thirdly, for calling miss Kim kardashian an influencer and not a celebrity (god bless you darla-jane Gilroy!). Oh and unlike the last couple of books, no spelling errors either! I loved this and genuinely learnt stuff about Burberry, such as their sustainability commitment.
Trench coat, it also just started with a product. Excellence of craftsmanship, innovation of material and keeping consumer at the heart. 😀 Fundamentals that very few have the patience today to build on.
