I had the opportunity of reading and reviewing the first book in the Right Royal Cozy Mystery series, which is called Spruced Up For Murder. When I heard that Helen Golden was due to release another book in the series, I knew that I had to grab a copy and read it just as soon as I could. Well the wait was worth it. The second book in the Right Royal Cozy Mystery series is called, For Richer, For Deader. I thoroughly enjoyed reading For Richer, For Deader.
As I started reading For Richer, For Deader, I felt as though I had reunited with old friends in the form of Lady Beatrice, DCI Fitzwilliam, Perry Juke and Simon Lattimore. I started reading and found that I just couldn't wait to keep reading I tried to finish it as soon as I could finish it. I was that hooked. My Kindle was glued to me most of the day. I couldn't miss a single second. I have to admit that the story intrigued me so much. I couldn't wait to find out who was leaving the dead bodies and why. I found For Richer, For Deader to be one of the best cozy mysteries I have read in quite a while. The story was enthralling and the characters were rather admirable.

2023 bk 32. Almost as good as the first title. I still enjoyed the characters enough to purchase book 3. But the mystery seemed a little murkier, with more of the clues in the last pages of the book. I'm also not real happy with the main characters mother - what she did was a form of abuse in my book. Sorry - I had to let it out. I'll see what book three brings.

Earlier this year, I had the distinct pleasure of reading and reviewing the first book in the 'Right Royal Cozy Mystery' series, which is called 'Spruced Up For Murder'. When I heard that Helen was due to release another book in the series, I knew that I had to graba copy and read it just as soon as I could. Well ladies and gents the wait is over because the second book in the 'Right Royal Cozy Mystery' is called 'For Richer, For Deader' and it was released on 16th November 2022. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'For Richer, For Deader' but more about that in a bit.
As soon as I started reading 'For Richer, For Deader', I felt as though I had reunited with old friends in the form of Lady Beatrice, DCI Fitzwilliam, Perry and Simon. Normally when I read the second book in a series, it takes me a little while to get to grips with who is who but not in this case. I started reading and found that I just couldn't stop. My Kindle wasn't exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn't bear to miss a single second of the story. I have to admit that the story intrigued me and I couldn't wait to find out who was leaving the dead bodies and why, The more of the book that I read, the more I wanted to read and the quicker the pages seemed to turn. I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the story. All too quickly I reached the end of 'For Richer, For Deader' and I had to say a temporary farewell to Lady Beatrice and her friends. I found 'For Richer, For Deader' to be one of the best cozy mysteries I have read in quite a while. The story was gripping and the characters were rather memorable.
'For Richer, For Deader' is superbly written. Helen has one of those easy going writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of Helen's books feels like a chat between friends rather than reading a book. I hope that makes sense. For me the story hit the ground running and maintained a gentle pace throughout. Helen clearly cares about her characters and this shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which she describes them. She makes her characters seem just as real as you and I. I love the way in which Helen makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story themselves and at the heart of the action.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'For Richer, For Deader' and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will most certainly be reading more of Helen's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

This was a cute and cosy mystery, featuring a very adorable dog, Daisy.
I had not read the previous book in this series, but I didn't feel as if I was missing huge amounts of context. I think Golden did a wonderful job in both continuing a series and making it welcoming to new readers. I would probably recommend reading the books in order, for relationship building and context of a few remarks made, but it wasn't 100% necessary to enjoy the novel.
Overall, I enjoyed the premise and the build up. I do feel the pace was slow in areas. There was good relationship representation in this between different people. I liked the friendship between Perry and Bea and the business they set up. Obviously, I don't know if this was a thing from the first book but a Royal setting up a business is a fun twist on a few Royal cosies I've read.
There was a lot of people (which like it was a wedding so I guess it makes sense) but I was losing track of who was who and how they were connected. It was a bit confusing at times BUT the list of characters at the back was really helpful. I just hadn't seen this until I was finished the book. A handy thing to have and does make it much easier to remember the relationships between everyone.
It's 100% a personal thing but everyone being called Lady X all the time even with friends was getting on my nerves a bit. It felt a little heavy handed in reminding the reader the book is about a Royal. I didn't forget at any point, and the constant reminders felt unnecessary.
There is a good mix of humour and lightheartedness that I want from a cosy mystery. The death and murder is all very light and happens off page.
I don't really understand the bit with Bea's mother owning a gossip rag. There was no real reason to me for this, maybe it will be clearer further along the series? It felt very odd and a bit of an afterthought that the King's sister is the one spreading rumours about the royals. Bea forgave her far too quickly for how angry she was and all the things her mother posted. I would have been furious and more than one very short conversation would have made it more believable.
I do love a book that includes newspapers, online articles and texts etc. It was really fun and a cute edition to the book that made it more enjoyable to read.

This new author is keeping her readers jumping (happily I’m sure) with her rapid release of the first three books in her debut series. In October, we had Spruced Up For Murder; In November we have For Richer, For Deader; and in December will be Not Mushroom For Death. The series features a delightful cast of recurring characters – especially Daisy, Beatrice’s dog.
Lady Beatrice, seventeenth in line for the British throne, along with her new business partner and friend, Perry Juke, are happily working on their next project. They are redecorating/refurbishing The Lodge – a seven-bedroom house on the grounds of Fawstead Manor. The Lodge will be the UK base for Sybil and Otis Trotman once they are married – or – maybe we should say IF they are married because it seems someone is determined to see it called off.
The threats begin with a dead rat bearing a note demanding that the wedding stop – then more animals and more notes. However, finding a dead body is what really focuses everyone on how dangerous the situation is. Everyone is frightened – especially the American contingent of the wedding party – because it was one of them who was murdered. Should Sybil and Otis just postpone? Can they even accomplish that at this late date?
There is a special security bureau charged with keeping all members of the royal family safe. Since Lady Beatrice is working at the location where all of that mischief is taking place, the PaIRS bureau is called in to handle the investigation. Of course, that means DCI Fitzwilliam will be the one in charge and he and Lady Beatrice don’t have the best of relationships. DCI Fitzwilliam wants Lady Beatrice to keep her nosey little self out of his investigation even though she was a help in his last case and that really sets her off. She is absolutely determined that she and Perry will solve the case first and she can thumb her nose at him then.
As with the first book, I found this one to be a tad slow in spots, but it wasn’t anything that precluded me from enjoying the book. My biggest issue with this book is something Lady Beatrice’s mother does. I can’t/won’t say much about it because it would spoil it and I wouldn’t want to do that. Then, she forgives much too quickly and too easily. Had my mother done that to me and/or my family/friends, I would still love her – but I would be living someplace different. I understand the reasoning given in the book – but I just don’t buy it and don’t like it.
I always need some romance to go with my mysteries – I always want either a married couple or a couple with a committed relationship. I assume we’ll end up with that in this series, but I’m not sure where it is going at the moment. We have two candidates at the moment for Lady Beatrice – One I don’t care for, but I think he’ll be gone after the next book, and the other I would like but if it goes forward, I’ll be interested to see how the author will handle/explain the large differences in social class.
I can recommend this book and hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Growing up reading The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot, my heart and soul have been partial towards stories of royal families. I haven't yet come across any series that pulled me in as much as The Princess Diaries did. However, Helen Golden's A Right Royal Cozy Investigation series has me hooked. Her stories steadily build pace as they progress, and I find that immensely impressive. She has you down a certain path, and you think you know this one is going to end, and bam! - it is something else entirely.
I had absolutely loved the first book in the series - Spruced Up for Murder, and I wasn’t disappointed with this book. I love Helen’s writing style. It is easy to read, enjoyable, and appropriately paced. I enjoyed reuniting with my favorite characters - Lady Beatrice, Simon, Perry, Daisy and DCI Fitzwilliam. An adorable cozy mystery - the relationships and bonding between characters won my heart. I can't stop rooting for DCI Fitzwilliam, and I absolutely can't wait for there to be a budding romance between Lady Rossex and him. I am looking forward to see how Golden handles the romance in the future books.
Imagine a cold early morning, and the feeling one gets when they hold a warm beverage in their hand - this is precisely how the book made me feel. Warm and fuzzy. A definite recommendation if you love royal cozy mysteries.

This is the second book in the Right Royal Investigation series - a cosy mystery. If you like your mysteries and crime with a bit of humour, a bit of a love-hate possible romance, and strong memorable characters, then this will be right up your alley.
Lady Beatrice and Richard Fitzwilliam have crossed paths before - in fact Fitzwilliam is starting to worry that Beatrice is a magnet for trouble and dead bodies. No matter where she goes mystery and mayhem ensues. The two of them have a relationship based on a flicker of attraction and a mutual desire to find the culprit, although one could argue that Fitzwilliam doesn't really have a choice in the matter.
What begins as subtle, and yet violent threats, finally escalates into something much more dangerous. The threats that are dismissed as a mere distraction to the upcoming events become a lethal reality.
Comfortable reads don't really get the attention they deserve, regardless of the genre. Enjoying a trail of clues and a bevy of quirky characters is a great way to spend the time. Imagine Midsomer meets Lynley and add a flair of Tommy and Tuppence on top of that. Wonder what they will get up to next and whether Beatrice will once again stumble upon another mystery or worse.

For Richer, For Deader is the second book to feature Lady Beatrice. I have previously reviewed the first book Spruced Up For Murder.
It was lovely to be reunited with Lady Beatrice and her business partner Perry Juke. They are in the process of refurbishing a property for a family friend in the lead up to a big society wedding. But someone wants to stop the wedding from going ahead and leaves dead animals with threatening notes. Bea's nemesis DCI Fitzwilliam is called upon to rule out any threat to the Royal Family and they clash horns once more.
The first human murder (after at least 4 deceased animals) happens about a quarter of the way through. The victim is the personal chef of the groom's family. I was surprised and intrigued as I expected the death to be someone from the family. This spurred my interest as I tried to work out the motive and culprit along with Bea and Perry.
The writing style is warm and easy to read. I was once again immersed in the fictional royals' lives and the murder investigation. There were plenty of suspects and clues for me to follow alongside the sleuthing pair. The antagonism between Bea and Fitzwilliam contrasts wonderfully with her friendship with Perry.
For Richer, For Deader is a warm and enjoyable cosy murder mystery. I love this series and can't wait for the next book next month!

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Fitzwilliam recent day phone call which started out, "... Richard, we have a problem at Fawstead Manor..." . All he could think was "... That woman!..."
"... He’d not thought about how she’d made him laugh with her smart remarks. He’d not thought about getting lost in those intelligent green eyes. And he had most definitely not thought about what it would have been like if it had been her who had joined him as a holiday companion on his recent vacation in Greece...." Now though he's going to have to think about all of them as he deals with her finding another dead person!
What will happen now? Will they solve this murder? Will they kill each other that they look for the murderer ?
Only way to find out is to read this spellbinding tale. You won't be sorry you picked it up!.

A society wedding is the setting for this cosy mystery featuring Lady Bea, Perry and his partner, the crime writer and celebrity chef, Simon. DCI Richard Fitzwilliam is the hapless detective who has to try and keep Lady Bea safe whilst solving the plenitude of crimes that follow her. The dynamic between the amateur sleuths is good, and the tension between Lady Bea and DCI Fitzwilliam interesting and often a source of humour. The mystery set against a society wedding background is twisty, with many suspects and false leads.
I enjoyed the first book in this series, and this one is even better as now I know the leading players.
I like the story's humour, mystery and glamorous setting.

Lady Beatrice has found a dead rat and a threatening note and soon a body, she will be working with Detective Chief Inspector Richard Fitzwilliam and her close friends, plus Daisy the dog to uncover this mystery.
I found this a really refreshing cozy crime novel that kept the pace and flowed throughout.
There were a lot of characters and I did have to backtrack slightly, but this didn’t take away from the narrative and writing style.
I have not read book one, however, this is a great cozy read and one I want to continue.

Lady Bea and her cohorts are up to their investigative ways when her friends wedding is threatened. Who and why do they not want the wedding to place? I love the characters in this series. They complement each other and keep the reader engaged. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

An interesting story perfect for a weekend read. I enjoyed Lady Beatrice, Simon and Perry. I liked the author's scene description. I like how the characters felt so real. I liked the storyline. It give a good lineup of characters and situation for the investigators to deal with.

A wonderful book
I really enjoyed reading this book, I love the main characters, Lady Bea, Perry, Simon and Daisy the little dog. I can't wait to read the next book to see what happens next. Well worth five stars.

A great murder mystery with plenty of characters to keep you reading. Following the lead protagonist as she goes from a hidden and somewhat reclusive to enjoying new friendships while investigating a murder. Definitely recommend.

Ms. Golden has created a lovely little village with fascinating characters. The trouble began when a body was found with a threatening note in the prospective bride's home. Then another body. And another. Fortunately, these were all animals from around the farm, most likely killed by accident or natural causes, but they certainly dampened the spirits of the family of the bride. Anyone else would depend on the local police. But when your best friend is a sister of the King, you feel free to bend a few rules. And thus Lady Bea and her business partner in interior design are on the case. It's a sweet little romp with little to no violence on screen and at least as much attention is paid to the designer clothing Lady Bea wears on her dates as the threatening notes. It's the kind of book that you, your daughter, and your grandmother can enjoy equally.

For Richer, For Deader is the second in the Right Royal Cozy investigations series, and the series is a bit of a delight.
Lady Beatrice, once more engaged on one of her interior design projects, finds herself at the centre of another strange mystery, with threatening notes, an over anxious bride, and an even more over-anxious mother-of-the-bride, and that's before the murder even takes place.
The same cast are here, Perry, Simon, and Daisy the dog, as well as Detective Chief Inspector Richard Fitzwilliam, and that pesky online rag, the Society Page Online, stirring up problems.
The mystery is well put together, and again, I didn't decipher the true culprit thanks to the liberal dosing of red herrings. And it was a really enjoyable cozy mystery. I'm looking forward to book 3, Not Mushroom for Murder.

This is cozy crime at its very best.
Lots of eccentric characters that amuse and entertain throughout.
The plot keeps at a good pace with a great dashing of clues and red herrings along the way.
I did find there to be a few too many characters that at times I had to remember who everyone was, but the central characters more than made up for it.
Although a book 2, I haven't read book 1 but this gave me enough info to piece together what happened in book 1 to read comfortably as a standalone.

I was absolutely enchanted by this novel and by all the characters. Bea and Daisy are a delight. Charming only begins to describe them. I will wait for the next book while pacing the floor! A series you should not miss out on.

Such fun
Along with a fascinating mystery, wonderful characters, and growing relationships with a few surprises makes this book a delightful read. Still a lot of characters, and many relatives made this a bit confusing for me. Perhaps had I read it in paperback, with a cast of characters it would have been easier to follow, but notes helped.

Lady Grace has received two threatening notes both attached to dead animals. Lady Beatrice, who solved the last crime in the area, wants to involve the police and do some detective work herself. Lady Grace, expecting guests shortly before her daughter's wedding, wants none of it but does agree it can't be left alone. Things take a turn for the worse and DCI Fitzwilliam is not best pleased as Bea is involving herself, something she denies as she is just “ good at talking and listening”. Bea has a new friend however the society pages are making it out to be far more. Someone even knows what clothes she is wearing- who is the snoop and the leak and who is threatening the wedding?
I enjoy this type of reading, it makes a nice change. Despite being a murder mystery, its a lighthearted fun book where no-one takes themselves too seriously, being a good mashup of drama and humour.. Bea is a very likeable character and Perry is a good sidekick to bounce things from. A fun, thoroughly enjoyable light-hearted read

Another murder of Lady Beatrice. A childhood friend of the bride-to-be,Bea and Perry do their usual sleuthing and annoying CI Fitzwilliam. I have really enjoyed all the books in this series, and am excited to read many more. If you love mysteries, with a bit of fun thrown in, you’ll enjoy reading these books.

A plethora of dead animals and threatening notes have been left around Fawstead Manor, all demanding that the up-coming wedding of Sybil, the daughter of Lady Grace and Otis, the son of Tycoon Rudy Trotman. A prank? A spiteful joke? A proper threat? But it turns serious when murder turns up on the cards.
A new-to-me author whom I am delighted to have discovered. Well written, intriguing mystery which had me guessing whodunnit, right up to the end. The characters are imaginative and interesting and relatable, even though I am far removed from anywhere close to the royal family!! I regret not having read the first book, and will not only be rectifying that soon, but will certainly be looking out for more from this author.

Loved it, a good as the first one. A clean cozy mystery with wonderful characters. Lady Bea the aristocratic designer with attitude and the cute dog Daisy, Perry her business partner and even the grumpy DCI Fitzwilliam. The gang are hosting a wedding at a nearby estate when dead animals and threatening notes start appearing, and then a guest dies. The story is fun but with a slight edge, the writing is excellent and makes the book a must read and the Author keeps you guessing to the end. My new favourite series.

A good story
I enjoyed this story. The characters are interesting and likable. I can recommend this book. However I don't recommend, doing this recommendation since you have to write so much.

Lady Bea is called upon to liaise with the police over Kelley Lindsell the chef’s murder, by Lady Grace and the bride to be her daughter Sybil Bransgrove , much to the chagrin of grumpy Detective Chief Inspector Fitzwilliam. She has her now business partner Perry and his partner in tow to help along with Daisy the dog. Every amateur sleuth worth her salt has a sidekick after all… Can they solve the case before the wedding is called off ? Great ! Loved this as much as the first in series Spruced up for Murder. Looking forward to book 3 as in my library already . Good flow and familiar characters to immerse yourself with while accompanying them in their endeavours. Solid descriptions and plotting
