Mandy Muse writes spicy adult romance. Born and raised in Texas, she is a stay at home mom with an imagination that has always left her daydreaming. When she is not writing, she is trying to keep three kids from playing with her laptop and keep them from learning how to read, so she never has to explain what mommy writes.
I really enjoyed this book! We love men who simp for the girl! I loved that we got what happened with them during Her Beasts. The build up and the secrets revealed were shocking. The character development in this book was amazing and gave it more of a fantasy feel to the story. Oria has been locked away from the outside world and all she does is make vials of her magic for her mother to sell. Her identity must be kept a secret but she feels something changing. Her magic feels different and less powerful but she doesn’t know why. Gray, Soren, and Ryder are thieves and they are hired by others to steal what they need for a hefty price. Their latest job is to find a vial of Oria, that for some reason has become scarce in the last few months. The men are shocked at what they find along the way. The biggest shock of all is finding their mate. Gray wants her but is scared he won’t be good enough. Soren will have her and nothing will stop him. Ryder is going to need some convincing because he believed he was mated for the girl he has loved his whole life. Oria has never felt this way…safe, seen, loved, and even wanted. She knows that they will do anything to protect her even when the biggest secret of all is revealed.

Quote: “I felt like shards of glass, mismatched, sharp and rough, until she came into my life with her colorful pieces, and we fit together like gorgeous stained glass that brought so much color into my dull life.”
Ok, if you remember last year I found Mandy through the Belladonna series and was hooked. This is not a spin off but connects to the Belladonnas and will make the most sense if you read them first. This is a Tangled retelling but spicy and why choose and the amount of hours "Flowers gleam and glow" has circled in my head is at least 5. The books has three men, but will be more because it's MFMMM and the ending was WILD but anyway. We have twin vampires, Grey and Soren and then a wolf shift, Ryder. We meet all of these guys with the Belladonnas and they are thieves, and right now they're tracking down a life saving potion and you'll never guess where it takes them. I mean if you've watch Tangled then you know... I really felt even though I've watch Tangled probably more than a five year old with Disney +, this brought out a new a fun side and had so many elements that brought together this world and helped to make the book much different than the movie. Obviously Rapunzel wasn't mated to 3 guys. But it was so fun seeing the difference in the men and how they come about accepting the bond and the potential to be mates. The bad guys in the story bring with them so many questions, had me highlight and screaming "I KNEW IT" at different points. My favorite character is Loki, he is a cat and he hates everyone unless they give him food. An icon. The way Mandy always makes me feral at the end of her books knowing there is a next one must be studied. The cliffhanger in this one is so good, I think the Belladonna book one cliffhanger hit me the hardest but this one is like .01% behind it because I was sitting like 😦 then swiped the page and it was the end. Thank you to Mandy for allowing me on her ARC team, it's a wonderful place to be and I can't wait for the next book!
Mandy muse does it again! I love this story so much. I can’t wait for part two!
Gray, Soren, and Ryder are thieves tasked with finding Oria - a life saving potion - for their friend Katarina (main character in the other PNR why choose series by Ms Mandy Muse! Go read Belladonna and her beasts!), and they find something they didn’t expect - a mate, whose magic gives long life. This is a Tangled / Rapunzel retelling, and it’s amazing.
Goo read it! Pardon me while read the other series again while waiting for the second half of the duet to be released!
Note: This is Book 1 in the duet, and what a thrilling beginning!
I was eager to dive back into this world (for context read the Cursed Beasts Trilogy), and Tangled Fates exceeded my expectations!
This installment is a masterful weave of plot twists, character growth, and sizzling tension.
The multiple POVs add depth and complexity, drawing the reader in with each turn of the page.
The pacing is well-balanced, hurtling towards a stunning climax and cliffhanger leaving the reader screaming for more.
The characters continue to captivate, with the FMC's strength and resilience shining brighter than ever. The MMCs' layers are expertly peeled back, revealing vulnerabilities and passions that make the reader’s heart race and bleed.
This reverse harem tale is a true masterpiece, blending humor, playfulness, intrigue, heartache, and spice.
The writing is superb, making the story impossible to put down. I devoured every word, and now I'm left eagerly awaiting the next half in this epic journey!
The consistent universe-building and nods to beloved characters from other interrelated series by this author and it only adds to the excitement.
Tangled Fates is a must-read, and I'm utterly invested in seeing how the fate of these characters unfolds!
• Thoughts: This book was sooooo good!!! I knew within a few chapters I was gonna be salivating for book 2. Low and behold. By the end of the book. I neeeeeeddddd book 2. I am so excited to see where this goes. This story read out like a movie! I was sucked in. I loved the twists, and I move that we have a wolf shifters and 2 vampires and an extremely grumpy cat. Lol. It was all deliciously put together and the cliffy it leaves us on. I am so ready for book 2!! And I am wondering g if there may be clues to another fairytale retelling...
~ Rapunzel Retelling ~ Why Choose (MFMMM) ~ Who Did This To You
✨ My Thoughts ✨ This one was so so much fun. Once I started I couldn't stop. I have been a big fan of Mandy's work and this one didn't disappoint. I loved all of the characters. My favorite was probably the grumpy cat. I loved all the spice. The angst had my heart breaking. I am a sucker for a good retelling and this one is it. If you loved the Disney movie then this could be for you. I loved all the plot twists in this book. That cliffhanger was killer... I need book two so badly. I really can't recommend this book enough.
Tangled Fates is book one in The Tangled Duet. This book is connected to The Belladonna and Her Beast Trilogy. While it's not necessary to read the trilogy I would recommend it. It helps you better understand some relationships in the book. This book is recommended for 18+. As always please check TW before reading. This book is out now and is on KU.
✨ I want to thank Mandy for the EARC of this book. These are my own true thoughts ✨
If Mandy Writes it I’m going to read it! I really loved this tangled retelling and the fact that it was a why choose and it had wolf shifters and vampires?? Say less!
I loved the spice and the main FMC Oria so much. Her tenacity and understanding of her self worth was beautifully written. My only struggle was the OW drama and even though she wasn’t present on page, there was a lot of longing for her on the page and I wish it wasn’t that drawn out. I sure hope Ryder can get past his struggles soon and we can see them all be together. I really liked her three mates especially the twin brothers. I loved their connection. I can’t wait for the next book!
I loved this book and all of the characters. I really liked how the story was changed just enough to keep me on the edge of my seat, but also had the familiarity I love when reading a retelling!
One of my favorite parts of the book was that the timeline followed the Belladonna and Her Beasts series! For those who have read the trilogy it really adds to the tension, but it isn't necessary to enjoy the book!
I'm obsessed with the Amor Aeternus idea! I can't wait to see how the relationships develop!
Tangled Fates is the first book in the Tangled Duet. It is a mildly spicy, medium action why choose Tangled retelling. If you plan on reading Mandy Muse's Belladonna and her Beasts series, I recommend reading it first as there is some spoilers in this shared world, spinoff series from those books.
I absolutely loved the Belladonna and her Beast series, so I was super excited to be heading back into that world. Tangle Fates does a wonderful job creating a magical world filled with witches, vampires, shifters, and other paranormal beings. I found this to be a slow burn kind of read, there is a lot of build up to the story, with a couple plot twists scattered amongst the pages and ending on a pretty big cliffhanger, keeping us primed and excited for the next book in the series. As far as a Mandy Muse read, I felt this was somewhat light on the spice, suspense and details we usually get from her. Even though I would have liked more, I still enjoyed the story, and I always love the unexpected plot twists.
My favorite part of any of Muse's books is always the characters and their connections. Oria, Ryder, Soren, and Gray all peeked my interest in the Belladonna series, and they definitely earned my love in this book. It did take me a moment to warm up to Oria, I needed to see her blossom fully into herself before I could like her. Gray and Soren's ying and yang twin personalities had me giggling and swooning like a school girl with her first crush. Ryder is a broody wolf that I just wanted to cuddle. I love the connection instantly felt by the main characters, however I would have liked more insight into the feeling and the how they each experienced.
Overall I felt that this was a lighter version of the Belladonna and her Beast series. The plot is an enjoyable slow build with fabulous characters.
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 This Why Choose Tangled Re-Telling HAS MY WHOLE ENTIRE HEART AND SOUL.
When Mandy 1st said the theme for this book I was already 10000% sold. Her books are already a work of art but throw in a retelling and MA'AM. 🅂🄾🄻🄳
🐺if you read her Belladonna and her Beasts series you will LOVE this. They make appearances here 👐👐 Tangled "flowers gleam and glow" flows through my head as I read about Oria (our FMC) magical abilities and how her mother is using her
*Ring any bells my fellow Disney lovers? You have your handsome thief(welcome thieves) A woman locked away and her sidekick pet. & the evil villain
Did I mention it's Why Choose... the more the merrier right? Ryder our brutish wolf shifter Sored and Gray our vampire twins. && LOKI Orias grumpy cat who is her right side little man.
(Loki is my favorite next to Ryder so far) They find this mysterious woman in a strange castle out of the way while looking for a life saving potion that's getting harder to find They didn't expect to find her and everything else that comes with the castle 𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒔, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒊𝒓 𝒘𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒏 𝒂 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒅𝒂𝒚.” 🖤🖤🖤🖤
I love this story for how it flows. The bond between the men is strong and working Ria into their little circle is fun to see unravel.
The tangled vibes I am ALL HERE FOR. I don't always read PNR but I read all of Mandy!
I need more like I need air to breathe. This series will forever be engraved in my brain.
And as always I will wait impatiently for more and nicely harassing Mandy until she gives us more.
Mandy Muse is back with her latest book and bringing us another smoking hot paranormal romance read. Think Disney movie “Tangled” but a smutty version and I’m here for it. This has a Rapunzel/Maleficent vibe with shifters and twin vampires. Oh and let’s not forgot Loki, the cat (whom I adore). Basically, if you love paranormal romance then this book has something to for everyone.
Tangled Fates is you guessed… about fates mates. Oria, our leading lady has been stuck in her tower hiding a magic power that everyone wants. Ryder is our shifter, the twin vampires Soren and Grey and all of them are thieves. You should recognize these three MMC’s because they were introduced in the Belladonna series, which I highly recommend you read prior to this book, although it’s not strictly required, it’s just so much better if you do. Our three sexy bad boy thieves are out to acquire a life saving potion.
There are mates resisting their bond to each other, heroes and villains that will have you shouting “Ah hah”!!! I’m sorry to tell you that this book does end in a cliffhanger, so no HEA’s just yet but if you’ve read any of Mandy’s book then you know the wait will be worth it!
*ARC courtesy of the author and all thoughts and opinions are my own. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Thank you to the valued author and publisher for providing a copy.*
As soon as I heard this is going to be a Tangled retelling I was instantly hooked. I loved Repunzal's story and to see it turn into an MFMMM story was just AMAZING!
We not only get TWINS Grey and Soren but also a shifter Ryder. They are expertly built to be the MMCS that you will fall for. Definitely a do not judge a book by its cover type of MMC. They are thieves and while tracking down a lifesaving potion it leads them to none other than Oria. She's been locked in a tower hiding a power that everyone wants. These men embody the who did this to you trope and it was everything. The fight to resist their fated mate bond is intense but the moments where you wanted to scream or shout, I knew it or yes was totally worth it. I loved their connection and bond throughout the entire story. Even the angsty moments.
I will say it was great to see different side of these men. We do meet them in the Belladonna and Her Beasts Trilogy and where it's not required to read it before hand it may help to understand them more. But Ryder is the character that hurt me the most. This angsty, emotional book was everything I needed minus the cliffhanger. Like I shouldn't be surprised because it is a duet but damn why end it there!!! And we can't forget my new favorite side character Loki! He is Oria's little grumpy cat that just makes me laugh. Mandy knows how to write a why choose that has you on the edge of your seat heating up and screaming. I'm convinced I would enjoy a grocery list written by Mandy because that is how much I love her writing.
I'm always so excited when I get an ARC from Mandy Muse. Her characters are wonderful and I love the world-building.
While waiting for this one to release - I highly suggest reading her Belladonna & Her Cursed Beasts series. It is set in the same world as this one.
Now - to get started on this review! Ready? Below may contain spoilers!
I'm going to be honest - I had a little trouble getting into this one. Not because the book wasn't good, but because It wasn't something I was expecting. Oria is a strong, independent lady who has been kept in a tower being used for her entire life (isn't that the premise of Tangled anyway?). Although she's been absolutely sheltered - she is scrappy. She knows what she can do and isn't afraid to do what it takes to protect herself. I love her - I look forward to seeing her grow.
We also get her three mates in this. Ryder, Gray, and Soren. Gray & Soren are twins and Ryder is Ryder. They're three bandit besties and I'm here for it. They look like they could murk you, but are cinnamon rolls.
This is where my one critique lies - I need more information on how they all knew they were bonded. It was like they showed up at the castle and it was insta-love and they all knew they were each other's bonds. Now, there was a prophecy that all 3 men had the same mate, but I felt like it was rushed.
I absolutely loved this book! It's a Why choose Tangled Retelling and so good. Oria has been kept in a tower with a magical spell on it to keep others out and her from being able to leave and her mother says it's for her protection because people would do horrible things for what Oria's powers can do. It heals you completely and keeps you young. Oria makes vials of her power and they sell it to businesses. She is so lonely there with being there alone with only her cat a lot of the time.
Ryder, a wolf shifter, and Soren and Gray, twin vampires, are in the business of stealing things for people and making money that way. They need to get there hands on some Oria to help their friends who need it. When they go looking for it, they happen upon a tower. When of them gets captured, the other two need to go find a magical necklace to be able to get in to save him.
When the three of them see Oria, they can feel a pull and connection to her. So much more happens in this book and I don't want to give any more away. Will they all come together and see what thos pull means? Or will they fight it and try to stay away? You need to read this to find out. That cliffhanger left me needing more! Also, very intrigued with Tay. Loved this book.
Oria has been secluded away from the world making potions that can heal to the point of almost cheating death. Two gorgeous vampire twins and a handsome wolf shifter trying to track down this magic potion for the Belladonna sisters. The guys get trapped in magically booby-trapped gorge until they see Mother leaving through a portal. When she leaves, the men find the entrance to Oria’s hideaway. Eventually all members of the party arrive to the tower but, they have to leave before Mother gets back! Which, you know couldn’t possibly be THAT easy. The action, steamy scenes, and writing are sure to keep you flipping those pages! Special honorable mention to Loki Oria’s cat. He’s a sassy Catzilla with all the personality in the world! This does end on a cliffhanger and I would definitely recommend reading the Belladonna trilogy. While it isn’t absolute necessary it does help with understanding some of the relationships, angst, action, and plot points for this duet. Mandy did an amazing job with reimagining the story without removing every detail of it. While you might be able to guess a few plot points there a TON of surprises she has hidden away that are completely unexpected!
Tangled Fates: Book 1 in the Tangled Duet and Mandy Muse's newest book. This series is interconnected with her The Belladonna and Her Beasts trilogy. While you do not have to trilogy first, I recommend it as it connects heavily and gives some storyline and character development.
I was excited to get back into this world after the trilogy, and I loved this POV from the Grey, Soren, and Ryder, who were thieves and used to be involved with one of the Belladonna sisters, who then hired them to find a rare and coveted Oria potion. Tangled Fates is a reimaging of tangled. This book has some interesting plot twists; there is instant love through fated mates, Spice, and the sharing of the female MC.
I love Mandy Muse's writing and how she seamlessly blends the seriousness of the situations and the playful banter of the characters. My only major complaint was that in the middle of this book, there was a lot of waiting around and not actually making plans for anything, even though they stated that they were on a deadline and needed to figure something out soon. However, I really enjoyed this book overall, and I'm excited to see where this story goes!
This Tangled retelling was amazing and the cherry on top is that it’s a why choose. Oria has been locked away all her life with no one else, but her Mother and grumpy cat. Her Mother has convinced her she has to stay hidden due to her rare powers because there are evil people out there who would do anything to get their hands on it. Somehow a group of thieves finds her location, but what she wasn’t expecting was the instant connection she felt between them all. Will she take the risk of freedom or do as she’s told and stay locked up?
I swear I’m addicted to everything Mandy writes. I have been reading her books in 24 hours or less so when I say I devoured it … I mean I DEVOURED it. I loved how this is connected to the Belladonna and Her Beasts series, but you don’t have to necessarily read it to understand what’s happening. My favorite thing about reading why choose books is seeing the development of the relationships in the group and I enjoyed watching Oria learn more about herself while creating special bonds with the guys. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
ARC Review: Oria has been hidden away for over 75 years (of her 200 years on Earth) for fear of someone finding out who she is, what she is and what powers she possesses. As the hunt continues for more of the life saving potion only Oria can create, she is put in grave danger when her mother leaves her in the hidden tower all alone to take a personal journey to help the mother’s sister.
Soren and Gray (twin vampires) and Ryder (wolf shifter) have been a band of brothers for many years, always taking on quests to find rare and expensive things…items and people included, if the price is right. The price for finding this life saving potion is at an all-time high as the market has dried up and they are on the quest to not only find it but also find where and how it’s made to seek the highest profit. Only they find more than they were looking for in the hidden mountain containing a tower with not only the hidden potion inside but also a breathtaking woman.
“Come on, Blondie, say my twin’s name as I make you come.”
Book Rating: 4/5 Steam/Spice: 2.5/5 Tropes: - paranormal romance - fated mates - close proximity - touch her and I’ll unalive you - twin vampires MMCs - wolf shifter MMC - mysterious black cat MMC - why choose / MFMMM - ‘who did this to you’? - tangled retelling
“You taste so f-cking good, Blondie. Next time you come, it will be from my mouth.”
Final Thoughts: I love Oria’s character and how she was fine with her life the way it was…until the veil was lifted and she started realizing all the lies she has been living. There’s so much she still has to discover (yay for this being a duet and a book 2 in the future) but I loved seeing how strong she really is when she has to be. Especially when it involves her mates. Soren and Gray with her were fire! If you have read Mandy’s Belladonna series, which happens at the same timeline as this one but do not need to read prior, I found this one to be less spicy but really loved the story and the characters.
I was so excited for this book. A Rapunzel retelling with a Why Choose love story….. I couldn’t wait for Ryder & the twins to find their mate, I knew it would be a wild ride. I absolutely love Oria she’s everything that the 3 of them need. I was kind of nervous that we were going to be dealing with another Zev and Ryder was going to be completely awful to Oria but I’ve been pleasantly surprised and you know he’s already in love just apprehensive due to his recent loss. This first instalment is spicy and full of magic, I love all the connections to the Belladonna series and piecing together the intricate weave of who is who and what part they played or are playing. As far as cliff hanger endings go this one was tame so don’t be scared you’re gonna be cursing Mandy until the next instalment. She was kind to us this time. My love of Mandy and her stories was definitely solidified in this latest release and I can’t wait for the wrap up in this duet.
For starters, I would like to point out for anyone who doesn't know this book takes place in the same world as The Belladonna series. While you don't necessarily need to read those first, it definitely makes for a better experience if you do. So I highly recommend reading them if you haven’t and then coming back to this one.
I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. It is a Rapunzel/tangled retelling and a delicious why choose romance. Spice, magic, shifter? What's not to love?
It's hard to give a detailed review without giving away major spoilers. I will just say this is the retelling I've always wanted! If you love fairytale retelling and why choose you will love this book. There are several turns you don't see coming and I love love love that. Seriously go read it now!
Mandy, Mandy, Mandy, how can you keep making me fall in love with fictional men? Men doesn’t even describe them properly, more like werewolf, vampires, and a cat. THATS what she made me fall in love with. I think I need therapy.
In the start of this book we see Oria working tirelessly for her mother while she is locked away in a tower. Yes you read that right, this is a Tangled retelling!! For years it has just been Oria, her mother, and Loki her cat. Her cat that is freaking hysterical btw.
Ryder, Soren, and Gray are looking for a vial of Oria to help Katerina. If you haven’t read cursed beasts you should, it would make more sense when we hear about the side characters. Soren and Gray are twin vampire brothers and Ryder is a werewolf. They are thick as thieves… mainly because they are thieves, but ya know small details.
I seriously LOVED this book and if you like retellings and why choose this is the book for you!!
Review: Mandy Muse NEVER gets old 🥹 I am in love with the characters she choose! I loved the series before and craved more from these men so I'm very thankful she gave that!
I'm not sure who I love more tho, the twins or Ryder 😅 I love the relationship between these three but also how much they are intertwining Ria into their circle. Loki was a fun addition that I am excited to know more about!
Rias story is a good tangled retelling and I loved it! But I also truly liked the twists and turns that this story had and cannot freaking wait for the second book! I'm not finished with these men yet 🥵
Tangled Fates is the first book in a Rapunzel retelling duet, and from the get-go, it draws you in. We briefly met these characters in the Belladonna trilogy, and now we get their story.
We have Oria, who is trapped making magic potions in a tower only to be discovered by a trio of hunky men. Twin vampire brothers Soren and Gray and wolf Ryder. Instantly drawn to each other, will they be able to rescue Oria and save their friends?
I devoured this book and am highly anticipating the conclusion coming in Fall of 2024. The characters' POVs shift and provide such good insight into who they are and how they think and feel. It makes you feel like you have know them. The world building is intricate yet simple to understand.
Omg this was sooo good! Loved the connection to Belladonna and Her Beasts. I’ve loved everything Mandy has written. She an effortless way about her writing that pulls me in. I have ADHD so I truly appreciate a writing style that pulls me in immediately.
I liked the layout of the story and how some of the Belladonna story is woven in from Ryder’s perspective. Really grounds the reader in the world. It helps as someone who has already the Belladonna series but also enough info is provided for someone who hasn’t read those without giving everything away. Though I do recommend reading Belladonna and Her Beasts first, you do not need to but you will want to after reading this!
Adored the characters so much. Oria is sheltered but also will creatively defend herself when needed 😅 Gray and Soren are perfect compliments to each other and for Oria. Hot af vampire twins? Yas please. And then Ryder. Broody shifter. That’s all I will say bc… do you need more? 🤣 I love how all of them are there for Oria in different ways that she needs. It’s beautiful 😍
ALSO, there’s an amazing grumpy cat. He’s my favorite. A whole personality so he’s definitely his own character haha.
I highly recommend reading this book and others in Mandy’s collection.
A very captivating, interwoven tale with the Belladonna trilogy that can still be a standalone.
Loved the chemistry and the suspense - I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I love Oria’s character, as well as Ryder, Gray, and Soren. I’m glad we got to see her mate 2/3 in this book. Now Ryder needs to get his head out of his *ss.
On pins and needles waiting to see what happens with Tay and Mother 😳
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I haven’t DNF a book as quickly as this one. It took 5 pages to run the hell out of that book. - FMC is supposed to be 200 years old but she is written as if she was a 17-18 year old girl growing up in the 2000s 😂 I mean yes we all loved avril Lavigne, but not to that extend and Mandy Moore, really? Nothing against the singer but like, why?
So this is literally Tangled the movie, just made badly into a book.
No just no (yes that’s the shelf this will go into)
This was very slow at the beginning really dragged on for about the first 40% I almost was going to quit but I am glad I went on it finally picked up the pace and once they escaped the castle it was very fast paced. I like how this author writes with humor and has us fall in love with all the characters. She wrote a female lead that I like and were really pulling for. Was eager to start the next and final book of the series.
I love fairytale retellings!! I was excited when she Mandy did this!! I loved this book and definitely can’t wait for book two!! I fell in love with the 3 MMC while reading the belladonna series!! I also loved how strong the FMC is!! I also really really loved the grumpy cat!!! But that cliffhanger OMG!! Gonna need book 2 now!!
Honestly I don't usually care for retellings because often times they are cheesy and just not my thing. I absolutely loved this one. The characters were great. Oria is an awesome FMC. I love how brave she is. I love Gray and Soren the awesome twins and Ryder is the broody one. This book is also super spicy which i very much enjoyed. Definitely an adult version of Tangled and I ate it up.
