I underlined so many passages that listing them here would almost be like copying the whole book, but there's one about grieving the loss of a four footed companion that's too good not to share, 'The death of a person's dog can be every bit as hard as the loss of a family member, sometimes even greater. We raise our dogs from when they are puppies, and they are our children. It feels very unnatural for a "child" to die before the parents, but that is what happens with our canine loved ones.' This is something I've experienced but never understood, and now the reason why is clear.
On a separate note, as a fellow southern Arizona resident I enjoyed all the familiar place names and as a fellow glaucoma sufferer I loved the bit about Dr. A.M. here in Tucson. My thanks to Goodreads Giveaways and the publisher for a digital copy to review.
