A long-awaited homecoming, a runaway bride, and a second chance.
When I decided to join the Army, I never in a million years believed it would cost me the girl I loved.
Penelope Miller was my best friend and the love of my life. It was love at first ponytail tug.
Yet joining the Army changed everything.
A decade later, I’m home, and Penny is starting the life we dreamed of…with another man.
At least she was until I found her hanging from a cliff on her wedding day.
Still in love with me, she left her fiancé at the altar.
I’m no longer the man who left Willow Falls and joined the military. I’m not the man she remembers.
I’m broken. Unworthy of Penny and the love she has to offer. I would never let her settle for less than she deserves.
But how do I walk away from the one person my heart beats for? The one and only woman I’ve ever loved?
This is the second book in the Bake My Day With Love Series. This is a clean, second chance, best friend, small town, military, sweet and swoony stand alone romance. Let yourself get swept up with Liam and Penny as they get a second chance at the love they believed was lost. Just like with all my other books, I hope you fall in love with the two of them and are left wanting more!

This was such a cute book. The first few chapters get you so intrigued that you want to know what ends up happening. Who doesn't love a runaway bride and the drama 😆 The story had lots of humor, but it also touches on all the military issues. I love that you see the journey of love, forgiveness, and second chances.
Thank you @haylingbookstorm & @authorabbygreyson for this ARC 💙
First thought: Loved everything about it. Let’s be honest I was sold when Tex the German Shepherd made his debut chapter one. This book is part of the Bake My Day With Love collection but honestly it’s great as a standalone. I love all Abby’s books because if it’s your first or tenth you instantly connect with her characters and are sucked right in. Add to your TBR now!
Liam sacrificed it all when he enlisted in the military he lost the love of his life and he lost himself during his service. He worked on the search and rescue team and lived through some life changing years. Now he’s making his homecoming and learning how to adjust back to normal life. Thankfully he has his siblings and his new therapy dog Tex always in his corner for support.
Penny just left her finance at the alter as she realized she wasn’t in love with him, there would only be one man she ever truly loved and he just returned home. After Liam saved her life, when she accidentally fell off a cliff on her wedding day Penny knew he was meant to be in her life again. The only issue is now getting him to agree that he’s worthy of love.
Follow Liam and Penny as they navigate their second chance at love. This time around there is a lot more heaviness and things to work through, but if it’s meant to be love is worth fighting for.
Make sure to pick this up when it launches on June 28th, 2024.

I loved reading this one! A runaway bride dealing with all the feelings and an army veteran hoping to settle back into a civilian life make for a great complementary pair, indeed! Especially when they’ve known each other forever and know in their hearts that they belong together.
I liked the pace in that it wasn’t rushed and every emotion and every relation was given its own time to flourish. Special appreciation for the guy left at the altar for being actually a great and understanding fellow! If he ever gets his own happily-ever-after, which he totally should, we hope to hear about it!!.
Sickly sweet and annoyingly good! I'm no rom com fan, but I do dabble from time to time. Having rest book 1 and enjoyed it, I thought I'd give this a go too. Loved it.
All the more real for me too having military experience and knowing what Liam went through. It's predictable but that's what's good about it!
ARC Review: This is a cute rom-com type story. We meet Penelope and Liam who were together as young kids. Liam joins the military and he and Penelope split due to that choice. Liam comes home and is trying to readjust to civilian life meanwhile Penny is preparing to get married. A second chance at love Runaway bride The military man who believes his time in service and the things he’s seen and dealt with makes him unworthy of the love he deserves. No spice Yet there’s drama! A nice palette cleanser for myself
This is a sweet and feel good clean romance, with those small town and cosy vibes. This time it follows Penny and Liam, as they have an unexpected and dramatic reunion, and reconnect their past chemistry. Penny feels guilt over jilting her fiance and her conflicting feelings, and Liam needs a chance to heal and find himself again before considering love. Their paths collide and show maybe it's fate pushing them together, and that they both deserve this second chance at happyness.
Abby Greyson's novel "I'd Never Date my Best Friend...Again" is the second book in the "Bake My Day With Love" series, but it also can be read as a standalone. Both familiar characters from the first book in the series and newly introduced characters enrich the plot, making for another fascinating and emotion-filled read.
We get to meet Liam, the story's male protagonist, for the first time at the end of the first part of the series, in "I'd Never Date my Brother's Best Friend", when he returns home after his military service. His time in the army has left deep scars on him, which his brother Sean – a familiar character from the first novel in the series – tries to heal with the help of a therapy dog, a German Shepherd named Tex.
Liam and Penny's relationship dates back to their childhood, and their friendship has blossomed into love over the years. They shared many memorable moments with Penny's father, who was a soldier himself and taught the two of them all the important survival tactics during their hikes and time spent outdoors together. The father lost his life in the army, so when Liam announces that he is also joining the army, Penny gives him a choice – her or the military – as she doesn't want to lose another loved one on the field.
The two have not spoken to each other since Liam chose the army, although not a day goes by without them thinking of each other. Penny found comfort in a good friend of Liam's, and over the years their friendship grew deeper until they got engaged. Before the wedding, however, Penny received the news that her first love had returned to the small town of Willow Falls.
It is here that we, the readers, join in the story as Penny realises that she will never be able to love her fiancé the way she loved – and still loves – her first love, Liam. So, leaving the man at the altar, she escapes her suffocating feelings in her wedding dress, but in her clumsiness she falls off a cliff. That's how Liam, or rather his dog Tex, finds her and together they save her life.
I really enjoyed how the main characters tried to be honest with themselves and each other about their feelings throughout the story. Liam, however, finds it difficult to accept that he can be enough for Penny, as the demons of his past are not easy to overcome. Abby Greyson builds important themes such as the PTSD that soldiers in the military face when they risk their lives for their country, or the grief of losing a loved one, into the novel with the sensitivity they require.
Overall, Abby Greyson's novel "I'd Never Date my Best Friend...Again" is a deeply emotional and entertaining romantic story. The lovable characters, emotional rollercoaster ride and heart-wrenching moments make this book special and a recommended read for all the romantic souls.

How not to love this book? it starts with a runaway bride hanging of a cliff!
Second chance romance and runaway bride are ones of my favorite tropes and this book has both.
From childhood friends to sweethearts, Penny and Liam were always glued to each other... Until he decided to honor her father joining the army. She just lost her father because of the army, she wasn't about to loose another loved person because of it. So she ended things and he left. At the moment Liam tough it was temporary and she will respond to his letters and things would be mended. But she said leave and is over and she mean it. So he inmerse fully in the army and she move on... or so she though (I'm not really spoiling, this is just the premise). Years later, Liam finally comes back, a shell of the lively self who he used to be and with PTSD, but his family is there to support him and help him. His big brother Sean (whom had his HEA in the previous book) convinced him to get a therapy dog named Tex (the real hero of this story if you ask me) and helped him to get the closes to his dream job. Penny is about to get her new "HEA" when she learns Liam is back, the past hit her and she knows she can't keep pretending and hurt her husband to be. So she runs and falls, and Tex barks and Liam goes to the rescue. And that's how our story begins (yeah, this is just the beggining 😆)
This is a rollercoaster of emotions, full of true love. They love so much that they want to let go so the loved one can find someone worth of them, but also love so much that can't just give up. So they fight their inner demons to be a better person and be worth of a second chance. A second chance in love, with their family and with their envisioned future life.
This book is the second installment in the "Bake My Day With Love" series, but it totally can be read as a standalone (you just would enjoy it more if you read the first one).

In "I'd Never Date my Best Friend...Again" by Abby Greyson, the second installment of the Bake My Day With Love series, we are absorbed in a heartfelt tale of second chances and enduring love. The story revolves around Liam and Penny, childhood best friends whose bond deepened into love until life's choices drove them apart. Abby Greyson skillfully weaves a narrative that explores themes of love, forgiveness, and the healing power of love. Liam's decision to join the Army shattered their plans, leaving Penny to move on with her life in Willow Falls. A decade later, their paths unexpectedly cross again, where old feelings resurface amidst the turmoil of her runaway bride moment. As Liam grapples with his PTSD and the weight of his past, Penny confronts her love for him, forcing them both to reconsider what they truly want in life and love. Greyson portrays their journey with sensitivity, delving into the complexities of their emotions while navigating small-town dynamics and the supportive backdrop of Willow Falls. The inclusion of Tex, Liam's loyal German Shepherd, adds a touching layer to his character, symbolizing both his struggle and his capacity for love. "I'd Never Date My Best Friend...Again" is a delightful second-chance romance. If you're looking for a heartwarming story about childhood sweethearts getting a second shot at love, then this book is definitely worth checking out! Overall, Abby Greyson's "I'd Never Date my Best Friend...Again" is a delightful addition to the series, offering an emotional love story. It leaves readers hopeful and yearning for more tales from Willow Falls.

Penny has always loved Liam but he broke her heart when he joined the Army. She finally moved on and met someone else and had gotten engaged when he returned. However, on her wedding day, she knew she still loved Liam and left her fiancé at the church and fled only to slip and fall over a cliff. Who should rescue her but Liam. Thus starts this second chance at love for two people but though Liam still loves Penny he has issues from his time in the service and doesn’t think he’s worthy of her.
This story is about both of their struggles to deal with their past as they see if the feelings they’ve always had for each other can overcome the fears and uncertainties they have now so that they may have that happily ever after they had once dreamed of!
This is a story that struck home with me being a veteran myself. It was easy to identify with Liam and his situation being in his shoes so to speak. War changes a person and the unconditional love of a person like Penny is something which truly grounds someone who can easily feel lost after what he or she has experienced. Having an emotional support dog there as well is a major plus factor too!
I wholeheartedly recommend this book as one I know you’ll enjoy reading! It’s true to life and I think you’ll find you’ll have empathy with all the characters you read about! It’s easy to see their points of view and not form a negative opinion about any of them!
Abby has written a very interesting story with a plot that flows effortlessly along and characters that catch and hold your attention throughout the book!
I'd Never Date My Best Friend...Again is the second book in the Bake My Day with Love series. While you'll see a few familiar characters make an appearance if you've read the first book, this could definitely be enjoyed just fine as a standalone as well.
Right from the start, I was drawn into this story... I mean, what grabs the attention better than a runaway bride!? I think this very easily could have made Penny an unlikable character (considering her groom-to-be was actually a decent guy!), but the author managed to tell the story in a way that didn't make me feel that way about her. (Though if we could see Andrew get a happily ever after at some point, that would be great too! He certainly deserves it!) The chemistry between Penny and Liam is great and I enjoyed seeing them get their second chance. As a military wife, I really appreciated Liam's readjustment back to civilian life and struggles with that... I think that's something that absolutely needs to be talked about more, even in fictional stories like this one. While this was an important aspect of the story and didn't feel glossed over, I did find the story kept an overall lighthearted feel nonetheless. I've read a few books by Abby Greyson now and enjoyed them all, but I think this is my favorite yet!
I'd Never Date My Best Friend...Again is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
Abby Greyson has written another amazing book. First I want to say that I was given this book by Abby but the following review is 100% my own opinion and a review I would have posted anyway.
Now that that is out of the way, can I just say , WOW! I loved this book! It starts out with our runaway bride, Penny, hanging from a cliff and our once love of her life, Liam, coming to her rescue. This book deals with some weighty issues, handled in such a sensitive way. Liam joined the military, which broke him and Penny up, and came back home years later with severe PTSD. Can he work through his demons to let Penny in? Can Penny forgive herself for walking away from her wedding the way she did and forgive Liam for joining the military in the first place?
Another cool part of the book is that we see the return of the company Battle Braun that helps returning vets find jobs, get help in whatever area they are in need of and just support their fellow veterans. I love that they are a continuing thread through the books! They help Liam get Tex, his therapy dog, who plays a huge role in Liam's life! As Penny and Liam try to work through everything, can each of them open their hearts and forgive each other, can they forgive themselves for their choices and can they find healing, both mentally and emotionally? Please read this book! It was wonderful!
This is a second chance romance all the way. Liam and Penny fell in love as teens and had planned their whole life together. But when Liam chose to enlist over remaining with Penny ( an ultimatum she gave him) it ends what was the best relationship they both ever had.
Then it happens... Liam returns home and finds out that Penny is engaged to be married. But Penny clearly hasn't moved on from Liam, because the very sight of him causes her to be a runaway bride.
Penny still loves Liam, but Liam isn't who he was when he left her, and he believes she deserves so much more.
Can Penny convince Liam to give them another try. Prove to him the reason she couldn't marry anyone else?
For me... this was 3.5 star read, rounded up. The romance and chemistry between Liam and Penny is a 5 for sure. But I felt like it was far more predictable than most reads. I think maybe the "I love you" came too soon in the story and then there wasn't enough to make me feel like I "had to" keep reading. All in all.... Abby is still a wonderful author and I look forward to reading Evie and Jamie's story! ❤
"I'd Never Date My Best Friend... Again" by Abby Greyson is a delightful second installment in the Bake My Day with Love series, though it can be enjoyed as a standalone. The story revolves around Liam and Penny, whose deep-rooted friendship was torn apart by Liam's decision to join the army, a choice Penny couldn't bear due to her past. Fast forward to the present, and Liam returns home after his military service, only to find Penny engaged to another man. However, fate intervenes dramatically on Penny's wedding day, leading to a series of events that rekindle old flames and open up paths for healing and rediscovery.
Liam's journey is heart-wrenching yet inspiring. Struggling with PTSD and the challenges of re-acclimating to civilian life, his character is one that readers will deeply empathize with. His family’s unwavering support highlights the importance of having a strong support system, and their dynamic adds warmth to the narrative.
Penny, on the other hand, is a bundle of joy and complexity. Her guilt over leaving her fiancé at the altar and the ensuing life-threatening incident adds layers to her character. Her determination to push through these trials and her eventual growth make her a captivating protagonist.
One of the novel's strengths lies in its realistic portrayal of emotional struggles and healing processes. The author does a commendable job of depicting Liam’s and Penny’s internal battles with authenticity. The relationship between the two is carefully crafted, showing a slow and believable progression rather than a rushed reunion, which is refreshing and adds depth to their story.
The secondary characters, especially from the first book in the series, make notable appearances that fans will appreciate. These interwoven stories create a rich tapestry of interconnected lives in the small town of Willow Falls, adding to the book’s charm.
Abby Greyson’s writing is both poignant and humorous, capturing the essence of a romcom while addressing serious issues faced by veterans and those they love. The inclusion of a cute puppy named Tex and the hint of an upcoming Zombie Apocalypse Survival Camp are delightful touches that bring light-heartedness to the story.
"I'd Never Date My Best Friend... Again" is a heartwarming and compelling read that balances sweet romance with emotional depth. It's a story about second chances, healing, and the enduring power of love. I highly recommend it! ♥
-- I received an advanced copy and am voluntarily reviewing.
Abby Greyson writes Hallmark worthy rom-coms that are heart-warming and real to life.
This is the second in a series but can easily be read as a stand alone. Liam and Penny have not seen eachother in years. Liam went to the military, Penny stayed at home.
Now Liam is back, but Penny is engaged and the wedding is coming soon. As he adjusts to civilian life and struggles with PTSD the encounters with Penny prove to reignite old flames and feelings.
When Penny leaves her fiance she embarks on a path of rekindled love, healing and growth through trials and triumphs.
This book will certainly have readers in tears, however, readers will also experience the happily ever after we all want to see. The author explores tough subjects in a candid way that will make them easily relatable to all readers. She also shows the importance of friendships, family and deep connections that help people heal and become whole again.
Excellent read.

A charming contemporary romance that blends emotional depth with an interesting plot.
Greyson excels in crafting well-rounded, relatable characters whose growth and vulnerabilities tug at the reader’s heartstrings.
The chemistry between Liam and Penny is substantial, making their journey from estranged exes to rekindled lovers both believable and very moving.
The writing style is fluid and engaging, with vivid descriptions that bring the small-town setting to life.
However, the pacing could benefit from more gradual development in some sections, and additional clarity regarding Penny’s initial motivations would enhance the story’s coherence.
At times, the narrative contains information overload and lacks sufficient showing.
Despite these minor issues, readers who enjoy romance will find it a delightful read.
Its exploration of themes like healing and personal growth, combined with a touching love story, makes it a must-read for those seeking a heartfelt and engaging romance novel.
Liam and Penny were best friends before they fell in love. Liam's decision to join the army pulled them apart and time has moved them in different directions. When Liam returns home he discovers that Penny is to be married, until she runs from the alter and fate brings them together again for a second chance at love.
This is a dual POV story. I enjoyed the insights from both Liam's and Penny's perspectives. It gave a good understanding of both characters and their thoughts and I enjoyed watching their love story develop. Some of the plot points seemed a little "too good to be true" however, it was easy to get swept along in the story.
Abby Greyson's writing style is easy to read, light and breezy, even when dealing with tough topics like PTSD. This is a great read for those who enjoy small-town, second-chance, kisses-only love stories.
Special shout out to sweet emotional support dog Tex. I just loved reading the scenes with him in them!

This is the second book in the Bake My Day with Love series. It can be read as a standalone but features all siblings of Liam from the first book. Liam and Penny were best friends and in a relationship until Liam decided to join the army. Penny couldn’t handle this decision because of her past and broke it off. Flash forward and Liam is home after finishing his stint in the army and Penny is engaged to another man with her wedding around the corner. Penny decides to leave her fiancé at the alter and has a life threatening experience that Liam luckily is there to save her. Liam has to overcome his feelings of self worth since leaving the army and Penny is battling with her guilt over leaving a man at the alter. I was impressed at how well these were discussed and highlighted in this book. Will these two make their way back together and find their happily ever after? This is a great romcom story and I was drawn in. Lots of twists but eventually don’t worry there is a happily ever after 😊
Oh my! This unforgettable story takes the reader on a rollercoaster ride encompassing a myriad of emotions. It begins with a runaway bride (Penny) falling over a cliff in her wedding dress, only to be rescued by the love of her life (Liam). Liam is returning from the service with some PTSD. Emotions run high between the two with Liam trying unsuccessfully to deny his love for Penny. Abby does it wonderful job developing the characters and pulls you in the story making you feel a part of the drama. I couldn’t put this book down until the end because I was so emotionally involved. Abby did a phenomenal job hooking the reader and touching on many tough issues resulting from Liam’s time in the service. This was truly a remarkable love story that deserves a 10 star rating. 🤩 Abby’s stories are always top notch and this one does not disappoint! I highly recommend readers to purchase all books that that Abby writes!! Congratulations on another WINNER 🏆🥇.

I absolutely love these great stories by the wonderful Abby Greyson! Such storytelling prowess there’s simply nothing she can’t put a pen too I’m sure… Liam is back and it seems fortuitous as Penny has just left the altar where she was going to marry another…oh brother! As dramatic reunion you could not find , when Liam turns up ,she’s in a bit of a bind , not by the wedding vows that she didn’t utter but she’s now hanging off a cliff! The nutter…..She is feeling bad about jilting her fiancé and he’s not in his right mind at this juncture. But the chemistry is there and they give it a go , just hope they don’t get a puncture ! Rooted for these too .cone on already and say I do! Abby , keep doing what you do well because your books? I think are swell! Brilliant writing and great mind writing prose that’s so divine , the descriptions immersive and inspiring as well the scenes , the characters it all gels together so well. Perfection!.

Is a sweet second chance, small town romance with no cliffhanger. Some of the lines I really like ----- “That’s the lie we tell ourselves. Now, more than ever, you need someone who loves you and will show up for you.” ----- “Not everyone will understand, Penny. But you need to live your life for you." ----- “You know, kids, They’re a lot more adventurous than we give them credit for. When they see advanced workouts, they want to try what they see the older kids doing. But, it’s not safe for them because their bodies aren’t prepared for it yet.” ----- “Sometimes it’s just not what we expect it to be. It can be confusing and scary. It’ll make you wonder if what you really feel is love.” ----- You can’t fully embrace the future until you’ve learned to let go of the past. When you learn to stop blaming yourself, you’ll be able to focus more on how far you’ve come. ----- I loved Penny and Liam's story and I'm sure you will too. I received a free ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Penelope and Liam went their separate ways years ago when he decided to join the army. Fast forward a decade, and Liam is back in his hometown, and Penelope is about to get married. However, when that day arrives, she has second thoughts and ends up being a runaway bride. At the same time she takes a hike, Liam and his dog decide to as well. Little does Liam know, but his dog is actually leading him to save Penelope. I completely adored everything about this story! Both Liam and Penelope were amazing characters who displayed a bunch of growth throughout the book. They were so easy to cherish and love! The dual pov was the perfect touch. It was nice getting both of their insights on each situation that unfolded. Overall, this is definitely a must-read!

I love books of Abby Greyson and was very excited about this next book in Bake My Day With Love Series. Their second chance after 10 years apart is story of intense feelings where past, present and future drive main characters to find out their place. Loved characters, their inner battles, dilemmas and dreams, the ways how they interact, grow. Especially military man Liam and his determination to be the best man for Penny, my special love to Tex and his role in the story. All characters (not only mains) with their support to each other, interactions made this book real page-turner to read in one go. Loved language, descriptions, story line and can't wait for the next book in series to meet same characters again.

Great book, recommend it to anyone who enjoys rooting for two people to heal a broken relationship. The H was strong but loving man who chose to serve his country. The h out of fear for him, her father having died while serving, didn’t want him to enlist. When he enlisted anyway she broke up their relationship. She becomes engaged to his best friend. When the H has completed his service he suffers from anxiety. To help him his brother helps him get a service dog. While out walking on the day the h is to get married the dog leads him to her hanging from the side of the cliff that used to be their favorite spot. He rescues her and thus starts the healing of their relationship. You can’t help but cheer as they slowly explore the healing of their relationship and allow their love to grow. HEA comes for the couple. Recommend this book to everyone. Enjoy this comfy read. Enjoy!
The Truth will set you free… When we hold back our true feelings at a young age it can be costly…and yet, after years of experience we finally gain the courage to set things right. This s a story about Liam and Penny, their struggles and aspirations and their steadfast love for each other. We are taken on a journey to heal the past and present situations that have also been costly to others. It also represents an uplifting example of how to assist veterans who feel unable to return to their more normal selves. Children and pets have an innate ability to sense things and to respond openly. They and others (friends and family) have much to give if we are willing to receive. This was a very enjoyable and satisfying read…I am grateful for the opportunity to read and provide an honest and voluntary review.
I’d Never Date My Best Friend…..Again by Abby Greyson is such a good love story and is book number two in the Bake My Day With Love series.
Liam and Penny were best friends growing up then they were more until Penny broke up with Liam after enlisting in the Army. After Liam’s military career is done, Penny and Liam get a second chance at their happily ever after but things aren’t really as easy as it was when they were young.
I really enjoyed this story and especially appreciated Liam’s story. I love Tex and the fact that he could always sense when Liam needed him. I recommend this book for a clean second chance romance with a HEA that touches on effects of PTSD (anxiety, panic attacks).
Tropes: - Run-away bride - Ex military MMC - Second chance - Best friends to lovers - Small town
Overall: This is such a beautiful story! The individual story lines for both Liam and Penelope were good and had their own moments. Their storyline together was one of heartbreak and healing
Liam deals a lot with self worth and trying to get used to civilian life. He has a service dog named Tex who is a big help but Liam struggles to find his place back home.
Penelope left her fiancé at the altar because she realized she wasn’t in love with him. She has to deal with the consequences of her actions while also trying to figure out what that means for her and Liam.
I would 100% recommend this book. It is a bit heavy but is such a worthwhile read!
***panic attacks, military ptsd, near death experience***
Some couples are meant to be. Many coincidences happen to these 2 which prove they are meant to be. But Liam is suffering from a traumatic past from being in the Army. I love Tex, such a sweet loyal, trained and playful dog. Penny leaves her groom at the atlar because she is still in love with her ex Liam. Penny broke up with Liam because he joined the Army. She was still grieving the lost of her Dad from being killed in combat while in the Army. Liam thought she would get over her being upset with him joining the Army but she never did. Will Liam's traumatic past keep them from a second chance.
Love the camp Liam gets a job at.
