Summer's Ghost
In the cozy beach town of Mariner's Cove, some secrets don't go out with the tide.
Summer Matthews is more than familiar with power tools. After all, she’s been renovating houses with her dad and grandpa since she was a kid. The old beach shack is her chance to prove she can do it on her own and she jumps in, purchasing the property, sight unseen. Unfortunately, she might be in over her head. Not only is the house falling apart, it’s also haunted and dealing with ghosts is not what she signed up for.
Sam Parker will do whatever it takes to keep people away from his shack. If he’s stuck here for eternity, he’s certainly not going to have people invading his space - especially a young woman who’s too independent for her own good. Unfortunately for him, she doesn’t scare easily.
As renovations begin, Summer starts to unravel the mystery surrounding Sam’s death. She’s discovering the man he once was, and he’s realizing there’s so much more to her than meets the eye. Forced to face their feelings and a future that can’t exist, will Summer be able to help erase the anger and betrayal of the past enough to release Sam’s spirit or will he be left to haunt the shack forever? And if he does move on, how does she?

OMG, this book is the PERFECT beach read! The scenery that this author writes makes you feel like you can almost feel the ocean breeze & taste the salty air! I absolutely fell in love with all of the characters and love that this is not only a summer romance book, but has that murder mystery story that keeps you guessing as well. I was pretty sure I would've died if Kate James didn't find a way to bring Sam back and give him a happily ever after. 😅 Honestly, even the support characters could have their own spin offs & I would for sure read those books also! You fall in love with Mariners Cove and all of its residences! Kate James, thank you so much for my first official beach read of the summer & please keep writing! I love your character universe!

Not What I Expected (in the best way)
I have never read anything by this author, but I ran across it and my curiosity was piqued. This was such a heartfelt, emotional story. Was the writing perfect? Maybe not. But a good story is a good story. And this one swept me right off my feet.
