This is how you do a cross, folks:

Q: Mr. Lacy, you don't like the defendant, do you?

A: I don't care about him one way or another.

Q: You used to have a girlfriend named Marcy Jackson, right?

A: Right.

Q: But she's not your girlfriend any more, is he?

A: No.

Q: In fact, she's now the defendant's girlfriend, right?

A: That what I hear.

Q: And that mad you angry?

A: Not really.

Q: And since then you've been looking for a way to get back at the defendant for stealing your girlfriend, isn't that true?

A: No.
