"We always tell each other we're made of stardust, but sometimes I look at you and I think you're made of something more.”
Adeline Gold loves speed. As heir to Shaw & Gold Racing, NASCAR is in her blood. The travelling, the parties, the smell of hot asphalt… it’s all she’s ever known.
Billy Brooks is a rising star on the NASCAR circuit. He’s spent his whole life working towards his dream of winning the cup, and with a move to Shaw & Gold for the new season, he’s so close he can almost taste it.
In the winter of 1974, when Adeline and Billy’s paths finally cross, they find themselves inexorably drawn towards each other. They burn fiercely together; fast, and hot, but their burgeoning relationship is shadowed by the trauma that haunts both their pasts.
When tragedy strikes, and Billy’s career is hanging by a thread, will their love crash and burn or will they still make it past the chequered flag?
Rebekah Buckley is a British romance author based on the south coast with a penchant for gentle fictional men and iced coffee.
She's had a passion creative writing from an early age and as an adult has been relearning her love of telling stories in her spare time. When she isn't writing, you'll find her singing badly to Taylor Swift and daydreaming about New York.
This was such a CUTE racing romance. Watching Addie and Billy’s love burn faster than rubber off the tires was such a fun experience. Rebekah took so much love and care into writing this lovely little story as a dual POV. The love story between Billy and Addie is perfectly completed and takes you through a decent timespan of their lives together, leaving minimal room to wonder about what happens in the coming years for our two lovebirds.
Their eclectic romance really encapsulates the 1970s vibe while still allowing the readers to feel a tie to the positive relationship the main characters have built. This book was funny, emotional, dramatic, and overall an excellent read. If you are a person who doesn’t really understand racing, you will still enjoy spending time with the Gold & Shaw racing team.
Gold Rush was my first NASCAR romance and I really enjoyed it. I had some trouble getting into it at first since I’m not a big fan of the insta love trope but the more I read it, the more I got to love it! Especially the found family trope, the friendships and this feeling of comfort you’ll get through a book are my favorite things about Gold Rush.
I also LOVED the writing, the characters and the smut (buckle up guys, it’s gooood).
Billy is a NASCAR driver, adrenaline pumping through his veins, and Adeline was practically born into the race world. We get to travel across to country with them through hurt, tragedy and their love story to become an unstoppable couple.
Gold Rush takes you on a time travel back to the 70’s. To palm trees and busy city life. To little miss colorful sprinkles Adeline that literary makes the whole room shine bright. She’s this little happy pill and she brought me such comfort, along with following her and Billy finding that with each other though their own scars. It’s raw and real, and really makes a grip on your heart. From stealing glances to lit up in flames, they’re the sweetest couple and their support makes them walk through anything trying to stop them. Billy’s soft side for her made me feel like an ice cream on a sunny day!
Rebekah got a way with words and her writing has a beautiful flow that got me nose deep into the book till 4am. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to be an arc reader and I’m so excited for any future works coming up! 🤍Gold rush is now available on KU and Amazon!
let me tell you, I ate this 1970s NASCAR romance UP. 👏🏻
adeline gold is the daughter to the owner of a prestigious racing company, & when billy brooks signs on to their team, their relationship takes off as fast as the cars on the track. billy is at the peak of his season, about to achieve his dream of winning the cup, when the trauma from their past finally catches up with them causing them to veer off course. will adeline & billy crash & burn, or will they show the world what they are made of- stardust?✨
gold rush is so beautifully written… you can just feel the care & detail rebekah put into writing this book leaping off of the pages as you read! I loved that this was set in the 1970s, & the nostalgia of the decade was spot on. adeline & billy’s pure love story is perfectly interwoven with life on the NASCAR circuit & a close knit found family. I was also blown away at how carefully & thoughtfully some pretty heavy themes were tackled throughout this story. make sure you read the content warnings on this one & be mindful with them, but definitely consider adding this book to your tbr!
💖 things I loved -found family -boss’s daughter -strangers to lovers -open door 🌶️ -3rd person POV -hurt x comfort -NASCAR romance 🏁 -the fact that I got malibu rising vibes from this one made my heart so insanely happy
thank you so very much to rebekah buckley for the arc copy of your beautiful book… I cannot wait to see what you write next!!
An incredible debut that transports you to the 1970s NASCAR circuit. I loved Addie’s need for speed as the daughter of a racing legend. The NASCAR romance was new to me and it was so fun! Addie and Billy have an instant chemistry and their tender moments with each other outside of the NASCAR chaos, was so heartwarming.
BILLY BROOKS! Bless his sweet soul! 🥹 Every time Billy asked “you okay, sweet girl?” I pretty much melted into a puddle. This man is so damn sweet and sensitive, yet gives us plenty of ‘fun’! 😝🍓 These two were very much meant for each other and nothing wavered their feelings the entirety of their relationship, which was so refreshing!!
We also get an amazing set of found family with this and I truly loved every character! I would LOVE more of Norah (Addie’s best friend and female driver!) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🏁

Arc review This was my first NASCAR romance. To be fair it was good and I thought the couple was really cute but there was wayyy to much sèx scenes. The book would be half the size if we cut them all out. Over all taking those scenes out I enjoyed the whole story and Adeline honestly brought so much joy to my day.
【English review; Italiano ⬇️】 Finishing this book wasn’t easy, but only because it was so good that I didn’t want it to end.
It was hard to dive into its pages, knowing this could easily reflect real life. Somehow, I find it simpler to read about vampires or morally gray villains rather than "normal" romance, because it only reminds me of the real-world flaws.
Maybe that's true here too, but Rebekah Buckley’s storytelling was so sweet, and her characters so human and real, that I just wanted more.
More of Addie’s kindness, courage, and honesty. More of Billy’s sweetness, determination, and perseverance.
Rebekah Buckley has written the perfect example of how two people with toxic, abusive romantic pasts can find each other and heal.
We become silent witnesses to the beginning of a new love—one that heals and consumes at the same time. It's the kind of love no one expects, but when it hits, it sweeps you away like a hurricane, and you can’t help but follow its path.
Two very different characters whose lives intersect at just the right moment, with their pasts catching up to them. Despite having lived through separate experiences, their stories are strikingly similar. One has always known they were abused, while the other suffered without realizing it.
And when everything finally comes crashing down on them, they choose to face it together, like the team they've quietly built.
But their team is more than just the two of them. Addie and Billy have their family to lean on too.
Addie grew up in her dad’s business, surrounded by NASCAR drivers and the rest of their tight-knit crew.
Stan is like the uncle—though he feels more like an older brother—everyone would love to have. He jokes around but always has your back when it counts.
Norah, the best friend who’s in your corner no matter what. The girl who shares all the juicy gossip but won't hesitate to set you straight when needed.
Michael, the devoted and loving father who dedicated his life to raising the best version of his daughter. The dad who listens, understands, and accepts all of your choices because he sees the incredible person you've become.
Gabe, Patrick, Tobias, Rosie, Billy’s parents (special shoutout to Eleanor), Wren, and the whole team—you made my heart (positively) ache, and my eyes tear up. I think Gold Rush has one of the best examples of the “found family” trope. And I’m really going to miss all of them.
Reading this was tough, sure, but also deeply healing. It felt like hearing something you didn’t want to know, but desperately needed to. Yes, some characters reminded me that the world suck, because people suck, but can you truly hate a world where love exists? That’s exactly how I felt reading this book. A gentle, soft slap in the face, reminding me of what really matters in life. No matter what you chase, if career, family, freedom, or happiness, as long as there’s love, life is always worth living.
If you're in the mood for a 1970s NASCAR romance, where no phone distracts you from the rush of wind in your hair as the speed takes over and people had different priorities and ambitions...
If you're ready to fall for two incredibly sweet characters (still waiting for my pocket Billy Brook to be delivered in my mail)...
If you want to heat things up with all the steamy way Billy treats his lady, and how she returns the favor with equal passion...
If you need a tender escape, but one that also gives you plenty to think about (toxic relationships & abusive partners)...
Then this book is perfect for you. You’ll love every page!
Tropes: -Strangers to lovers -Sports Romance -Boss's Daughter -Strangers to Lovers -Found Family -Open Door -Hurt x Comfort -Emotional Scars
This story follows Billy Brooks and Adeline Gold as their romance blossoms amidst the backdrop of 1970s NASCAR. Billy Brooks has only ever wanted to drive at the highest competitive levels, and is a rising star for Shaw & Gold racing. Adeline Gold has fast cars and freedom coursing through her veins as a result of being born into a world of race cars, travel, and parties. After a long time of only stealing glances across rooms, Billy and Addie finally cross paths. However, their burgeoning relationship is overshadowed by trauma and tragedy. Will their fledgling relationship crash or are they destined to burn as hot and bright as the stars?
I was so excited to finally see a sports romance that featured NASCAR, especially in the era of the 1970s. Gold Rush captures the thrill of vintage NASCAR blended with a heavy dose of romance and deep sense of found family. I loved the authentic feel of life on the NASCAR circuit, and that you were traveling with the team from track to track across the country. The decadence of the 1970s mingles with the party atmosphere of NASCAR, but is interspersed with the quiet moments of everyday life.
Billy Brooks is all business on track, but also has a softer side that is brought out by Adeline Gold. If you are a fan of NASCAR and wanted a modern driver to compare Billy with, I can immediately see him as Ryan Blaney (iykyk). Billy is confident and talented, but also seems so down-to-earth. Addie sparkles with vibrancy and commands a room with charm, but is haunted by past hurts. When Billy and Addie meet, they quickly fall hard and fast for each other into an all-consuming love.
What I most enjoyed about their relationship was the level of unconditional support they showed one another because it truly does help them overcome their trauma and hurt, and get to a good place together. Billy and Addie consistently encourage each other, and there is never any doubt of how deeply these two care for another. This was well complimented by the support of their friends and family, which added a heartwarming element to the overall story. They are a tight-knit group who has each other's back through thick and thin, and it definitely makes you want to be part of the crew.
The plot leans into the intimate side of Billy and Addie's relationship, with it being a focal point of their love story. The spice is wide open, full throttle and Billy and Addie literally cannot get enough of each other. The book did have a sweet ending, and I thought it brought everything full circle in a meaningful way. If you are looking for a different kind of sports romance that has plenty of spice but also offers a sense of healing from emotional scars, then wave the green flag and add it to your TBR. Thank you to the author for making this book available. This is my honest review and is provided voluntarily.
Thank you to Rebekah for the eARC! Gold Rush is out on 8/9! You won't want to miss this!!

Tropes: 🏁Sports Romance (NASCAR) 🏁Based in the 1970's 🏁hurt x comfort 🏁found family 🏁strangers to lovers 🏁boss's daughter 🏁nicknames 🏁a sprinkle of suspense
Based in the 1970's, Gold Rush follows the story of NASCAR's rising star, Billy Brooks, and Adeline Gold, the daughter and heir to Shaw & Gold Racing, who has just signed Billy. Adeline has always had a little crush on Billy, and when their paths finally cross, they go from 0 to 100 really quick. But, as their relationship continues to grow, both of their pasts come back to haunt them.
"Remember the four A's and you'll be fine." "Four A's?" "It's four for you. Anticipation, acceleration, attitude...and Adeline."
My gosh I fricking loved this book! Rebekah mentioned to me that she spent two years making Adeline and Billy's story right and it is just SO EVIDENT in this story. These two characters may have fell HARD and FAST for one another, but their relationship was really put to the test throughout this story, and i thought it was portrayed so well. You can clearly tell how deep the connection those two have from day one and the unconditional love that they have for one another. And the nicknames?? omg I was DED.
"What are we made of?" "F*cking Stardust, baby."
But, for me, what really made this book was the found family and the story that Rebekah was able to create with all the side characters. Yes, this story is focused specifically on Adeline and Billy, but you get so invested in the lives and relationships of the entire supporting cast when reading this. I loved seeing how the rest of Shaw & Gold were doing, seeing their own relationships budding, and the relationships that Adeline and Billy with each of them. I think it really tied and brought the story to life, almost like I was watching a movie, instead of everything just being really focused on the MC's.
Overall, I really enjoyed the plot too, with the little hint of suspense and the MC's navigating accepting and moving on from their pasts, building a future together, and just getting to know each other better and more wholy. This was my first NASCAR-related romance, and I am so here for it! The adrenaline that the drivers have, the community and the camaraderie between all the teams, it was just so fun to see! And my gosh, I did not realize how long those races were!!
Brava on an amazing debut, Rebekah!! I cannot WAIT to see what comes next
Addie and Billy’s love isn’t like anything I’ve read before. It’s pure, it’s real, and it’s amazing!
Through good times, bad times, and heartache they were each others constant with a flame that couldn’t be put out no matter what. It was instant love. There were trivial times but they made it through! I craved a book involving racing last year that was just like this! That describes the life on the road as a racecar driver. That described what it was like growing up around racing and man, this book hits the nail on the head.
What spoke to me the most is reading this book in the 21st century and it being based on the 70s. When they were “bored” they didn’t have video games, social media, or streaming services. They had books/magazines, music, and the great outdoors. That is what I love the most about this book and will learn from. Billy and Addie didn’t have social media to go to and complain about their problems. They took a walk or a drive and then they came back together and faced the problem head on. They enjoyed being together and talking and doing stuff together rather than playing on their phones.
Rebekah, this book was amazing in so many aspects! Thank you for this opportunity as an ARC reader!
Wow, what a wild ride Gold Rush was, and I LOVED every second of this book.
I can't believe this is Rebekah Buckley's debut book, I really hope we're getting more from the NASCAR world in the future!
Usually, I'm a sucker for a slow burn, but the fast burn in this is amazing. I felt every emotion, I even shed a few tears at one point. Chapter 25, you killed me...
I loved the found family aspect in this book, and the side characters were wonderful. I'd happily read more about them and their relationships.
I felt like I was following Billy and Addie every step of their relationship. They were just perfect.
I adored being in the 1970s. It was a nice change to be away from the social media aspect of life. It reminded me what life was like before the Internet and everything else overtook our lives.
If you're a fan of sports romance, this is definitely one to read. The NASCAR world was brought to life, and it really feels like you're there on the track side with Addie watching Billy race.
A big 5 stars from me, I'll be awaiting Rebekah's next book eagerly. I'll be first to line to read it!
This was a fantastic debut and a beautiful love story that truly showed how people can overcome challenges if they are surrounded by the right people. Adeline and Billy begin their story as strangers who orbit around each other, with Billy as a NASCAR driver in 1975 for Adeline's dad's racing team. Over the course of the 1975 racing season, they fall in love and that relationship is tested in more ways than one but it was so beautiful and inspiring to read how Billy and Adeline were a unit and built each other up to try and work through it.
"What are we made of Tinkerbell?" "F*cking stardust"
The 1970's vibes and imagery were immaculate. This was the first 'historical' romance I've read but I loved it. In all honesty, it did take a me a hot minute to really get into the story but that was definitely the reading slump and not the story
Thank you so much Rebekah for the ARC! I feel so privileged to share in your debut journey!
Gold Rush by Rebekah Buckley arc review. This was a cute nascar 1970 romance story. I was very excited to read this story I always loved watch nascar with my uncle growing up. I loved the vibes of this story Adeline and Billy are an adorable fast burn romance. They are the sweetest couple they make even other better together. Billy is new to the racing team that Adeline father owns. Their connection is electric and heart stopping. I love the found family vibes of all these characters was so special. The dual pov of interesting and good. I had so much fun reading this book. It was funny and cute at time and also had its dramatic moments too with emotional moments, That was important too. I highly recommend you check this one out it was great read and an entertaining sports romance. Thank you for this opportunity.
I first came across Gold Rush on Wattpad and I'm so excited to see that it's made it to print.
The 1970s story of Adeline and Billy finding each other as soulmates against the backdrop of NASCAR is such an original concept in this genre. It's not all plain sailing, with a touch of angst thrown in for good measure.
I can safely say it's one of my favourite new releases of 2024. Rebekah Buckley, as a first time novellist, has created a work of heart.
ARC reader review: Wow….just wow! Rebekah Buckley is such a talented writer. The book was perfectly paced and was filled with excitement.
Adeline and Billy’s growth throughout the book was so sweet and reading about their love was adorable and had just the right amount of spice, I will be reading this book again in the near future!
I don't know how to stress this enough... READ THIS BOOK.
Rebekah takes two characters, tangles them together in the stars and you spend the entire book rooting for them. There are no weird miscommunication breakups; there's no unnecessary drama. It's just the two of them forever, and it's just really, really good.
The found family in this is a huge draw for me, and she NAILED IT.
Cute read! Definitely a warm and cozy, touchy feely book you can just cuddle into. Spice level is great too, and pacing is quick and easy. Would love to read more of this author!
THE VIBE, ATMOSPHERE AND EMOTIONS are everything in this book! It’s suitable for the summer so much , making reading process such interesting drive through 70’s. I liked Addie with her pureness and softness, the way she was growing and maturing in the relationships with Billy. Now to our cool but soft golden boy aka William ‘Billy’ Brooks, at first you can think that he usual cocky playboy but no, he actually thoughtful and vulnerable. How he found peace, strength and patience within himself and others by being with Adeline are really important and beautiful. The whole found family aspect made this books so wholesome and inspiring.
I was so pleasantly surprised by this book! This is the first book I've read that's set in another decade and I absolutely loved that aspect of it. The author did such a great job of really setting the perfect 1970's mood throughout the whole book. I also normally don't love books set in the 3rd person and I have a harder time getting into them, but I did not have that problem with this book - I was hooked from the first chapter.
My favorite part of this book is the fact that the FMC and MMC are in a relationship for pretty much the entire book - it was so refreshing to read a book about an actual relationship and the ups and downs they go through together. So many romance books spend the entire book with the main characters trying to get together and then the book ends right as they finally start a relationship. I loved that we got to see the relationship span over several years and how they grew together and deepened their relationship.
This book had so many sweet and also super spicy moments - I was (pleasantly) surprised by how spicy it was, but it also had just as many sweet and cute scenes as well. I really cannot believe this is the author's debut novel and I will definitely be reading her future books!
Gold Rush: A 1970s NASCAR Romance is a beautifully crafted love story that blends the thrill of high-speed racing with the tender emotions of a blossoming romance. Set in the vibrant 1970s, the book vividly brings to life the era's raw racing culture and passionate characters, each with relatable dreams and imperfections. The sweet and genuine romance between the protagonists captures the innocence and intensity of young love, with palpable chemistry and heartfelt moments. The author's attention to detail in describing the exhilarating NASCAR races and the era's cultural nuances adds depth and authenticity, making this book a delightful read for both romance and racing fans. Whether you’re a NASCAR enthusiast or simply a lover of heartfelt stories, Gold Rush will leave you with a smile and warmth in your heart.
read if you looove… ✨sports romance ✨nascar driver//boss’s daughter ✨strangers to lovers ✨found family ✨no third act break-up
Addie is the daughter of a nascar legend, and Billy is the newest driving recruit to the Shaw & Gold team. when these two meet, they’re immediately drawn to each other and have absolutely insane chemistry. when past trauma is brought out into the open and Billy’s career is hanging on by a thread, will these two survive?
I want to preface saying I’m normally not an insta-love girlie, but there is something so wholesome and genuine and simple about Billy + Addie’s connection that you can’t help falling in love with them. between their instant chemistry and the 1970’s setting, the vibes were V I B I N G with this one. its whimsical and heartwarming and reading this just feels like summer, ya know? 100/10 recommend☀️
