From the beginning, God created women and men equal in dignity, value, and worth. But our identity as daughters of God has been contested, both inside and outside of the church, and we're left wondering if we actually belong in the church--and the kingdom. Sharing the stories of the unsung women of the Bible, Amy Seiffert reveals how Jesus befriended, defended, healed, and depended upon women--and will do the same for you. Weaving biblical truth with thoughtful teaching, she empowers you to
· exchange fear and doubt for confidence and faith · know a just God in the face of injustice · stand firm in your dignity despite being marginalized · tell a story of healing and hope through your scars · use your unique gifts to show the world the goodness of God
As you read Scripture, you'll see women are not They're image-bearers of the Most High. Without women--without you--the fullness of God's image is incomplete. And in his Kingdom, you are seen, heard, known, and commissioned to bring his redeeming love and truth to this world.
Amy has been writing, teaching, and speaking on staff with Cru for over 18 years and is currently the Director of Outward Movement at Brookside Church. She is married to Rob since 2001, and they live in Bowling Green, OH with their three children Robby, Olive, and Judah.
Amy pulls you in with her story telling and down-to-earth insights. Weaving Biblical wisdom through her presentations, Amy takes you for a ride and drops you off back home filled up with truth, love and hope. Relatable, funny, and a bit provocative, Amy has the uncanny ability to articulate what so many are thinking about in their daily lives. She inspires, teaches and humbly relates to the mystery and messiness of life.
This book was phenomenal. The writing was so unique in bringing the women of the Bible to life. The way she started with stories that did deeper into what the women might have been feeling and thinking really added so much. I learned so many new things about the meaning behind verses, as well as just felt so convicted to lean into my identity as a daughter of Christ. This was such an insightful and inspiring book in my journey with Christ. I highly recommend it.
I had the privilege of receiving an ARC of Your Name is Daughter, and it was an absolute gift to my heart. Amy Seiffert beautifully weaves together biblical truth and storytelling, retelling the stories of women in the Bible from their own perspectives. This unique approach brought these women to life in a way I had never experienced before—it was as if I was walking in their shoes, feeling their struggles, victories, and encounters with Jesus firsthand. Through these pages, I was reminded that Jesus consistently befriended, defended, healed, and valued women. He saw them, heard them, and empowered them—just as He does for us today. Amy’s words were an encouragement to my soul, helping me connect to these often-overlooked women of the Bible and strengthening my identity as a Daughter of the King. This book is a must-read for any woman who has ever questioned her worth, wrestled with doubt, or longed to fully embrace her God-given identity. Your Name is Daughter is both deeply affirming and powerfully inspiring—a reminder that in God's Kingdom, we are known, valued, and called with purpose. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend!
Timely and empowering! Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2025 This book is so timely and needed! Personally, I have been digging deeper in my studies of the Bible and learning about context and original language and culture, and in her book, Amy has done the research and opened up my eyes to Bible stories and verses that I had misinterpreted and misunderstood, especially relating to women. Jesus empowered women and called them to follow Him. I have been talking about this book and how it has impacted me to my friends and fellow believers! Your Name is Daughter is written for every woman. And it wouldn’t hurt men to read it too!
Have you ever felt “less than” because you are female? Amy Seiffert’s new book, Your Name is Daughter, will blast those insecure, trounced upon feelings right out of your head! She writes about many women in the Bible, some named, some not, and how they were chosen, loved, and used by God. Amy brings humor and her sanctified imagination to flesh out their stories and bring them to life. She also brings the wisdom of other scholars to help change our old perspectives and opinions about these women. God dearly loves His daughters, and Amy shows just how much through her writing. This book was uplifting and encouraging.
Such a beautiful book filled with wit and wisdom. This book made me laugh, made me cry, and gave me chills! Amy Seiffert explores the role of women in the Bible and in the modern day church in such a wonderful and eye-opening way.
ok, wow. If you've heard that Christianity doesn't value women, I invite you to read this book and then I'll take you to coffee to chat about it.
or if you (like me) FELT like Christianity (or was it our churches?) didn't value women... same invitation. please read and let's discuss.
seriously. Jesus is SO counter-cultural. Actually, God the Father, way before Jesus was on the scene (earth), he was protecting, loving, valuing women even within a backdrop of patriarchy and polygamy.
I'm no expert on this topic. I'm just recovering from poor teaching. which is why I'd love to discuss.
Beautifully written by Amy Seiffert to remind women everywhere that we played and play such an important part of God’s story. I’ve needed this book for a long time & every person who reads the Bible should dig into this book. It’s smart, sensitive, and such an important perspective!
Did you know Moses mothers’ name was Jochedeb? I did not (or the name did not stick with me) until I read her story through Amy‘s point of view. Of how she and Miriam were able to save Moses and help set him up so that many years in the future, he would be in a position to be the hands and feet of God and rescue the enslaved Israelites
These are just two of the many amazing women that Amy (re)-introduces us to and helps us see how God empowered them to do great things. She brings them to life and helps us see their story in ways we may have not ever considered. I’ve studied the Bible all my life and have not seen the women shining in this way - brought to life and fulfilling their purpose.
This book is not just a book about women written for women. It’s also about the men who loved and learned supported and respected these women. It’s also about how God empowered these women to carry out his purpose, and how Jesus chose them to carry his message and to build up the body of Christ.
The only drawback of having an ARC was that my friends were not reading it with me. We cannot wait to dive into the Bible study!
Read in audio format, narrated by the author. Such a lovely book! She goes through stories of women in the Bible in a relatable way and honors them and women today. Kind, gentle, firm, and understanding of women in so many roles are acknowledged… married, older, single, childless, etc. This book would have been world shaking in younger years, and still is very meaningful to me today.
Amy has dug into the stories of the women in the Bible and brought forth gems of truth of the Father’s love for His daughters. Your Name is Daughter reminds us of our worth as daughters of the King and encourages us to be confident in our relationship to the Lord. This book is an easy and enjoyable read, and I recommend it for all women as we all need to be reminded of who, and Whose, we truly are.
Overall, I'm thankful Amy included the warning about her extra biblical backgrounds and pray all readers understand her stories are fiction. Fiction can be helpful! It can be used to heal your heart and help solidify your identity as a daughter of the King, but it's not perfect or inspired. The backgrounds of these women were not included for good reasons- one of which I believe is to not alienate other women!
Chapter 2: lost a whole star in my rating because of "which is privilege". I'm sorry you weren't taught to have confidence of your identity in God. I wasn't either! I came to Christ at 21 and read my brand new Bible to learn who *I* am in Christ, to God, in this big world again and again! This world is broken and yes, you will question your place in it- RIGHTFULLY SO! We are NOT of this world. Don't aim to be, Amy.
In the last chapter, Amy boldly declares the infamous "I do not permit women to speak" line is *really* about Artemis- lol. My conviction has always been that because women back then had a different social position than women of today, that he was speaking to the immaturity that would not have submitted to a female in leadership at that time. Yes, that hardness of heart (sin) should be addressed, but also, women are thanked again and again for teaching biblical truths throughout the NT. Surely, after 2000 years, someone would have mentioned Artemis and included facts if Amy's claims were true? I've studied Christianity for over a decade now and even in this book, I don't understand why Amy doesn't include more than a passing whiff of explanation for SUCH a monumental theological principle. Also, wouldn't the teacher who told her that have written a best selling novel about her "discovery"?
Amy Seiffert has written a book that needs to be read by every Christian woman, especially by those who feel their spiritual gifts have been overlooked or underused. Each chapter in “Your Name is Daughter” considers a different woman (or group of women) mentioned in the Bible, looking at the Scripture and filling in the culture, so that we can understand the story as it would have been received by the original hearers. We “step into the sandals” of Eve, the Egyptian midwives, Huldah, Mary, Deborah & Jael, Ruth & Naomi, Hannah, Elizabeth, Mary & Martha, Phoebe, Lois & Eunice, and others that were unnamed. Amy tells stories from her own life that echo the stories of these women. I was “hooked” from the first chapter and quickly decided that this was the book I would volunteer to teach to our women’s group. I look forward to delving into these women’s stories and discovering what God has to teach us! We will take one chapter per week. (Note: I also purchased the Bible Study and watched the free YouTube videos that accompany it. It has 6 sessions that cover the 20 chapters. The Bible Study can be done apart from the original book, but one will benefit more if both are used.)
Your Name is Daughter is refreshing, real, and will really open up your eyes when it comes to the Bible, women, purpose, and life! The author, Amy, describes her book as a "treasure hunt about what the unsung women of the Bible have to tell us about our worth" and she has brought these truths to light in such a beautiful way and one that all of us women can relate to. Through reading this book, I'm amazed at what I learned about Jesus and women in the Bible, but it's not just these women from so long ago, it's us women NOW. This book dives in to the roles women played and how Jesus treated women. How Jesus healed and restored women, how He commissioned us to be His disciples. You'll learn that Jesus didn't play the patriarchy game. In a broken world with lots of confusion, this book provides clarity and truth. The author has a warm and relatable writing style...you'll want to go grab a coffee with her and chat! I recommend this book to ALL women and it would be great for men to read too.
“You, sister can be a pillar who speaks with confidence as you listen to what God is saying. You can raise your voice of encouragement, of truth, of prophecy, of discernment, of love. You have been given a voice to use, not to hide.”
This book taught me so much about my worth as a woman of God and my identity as a Daughter. This book invites us into the lives of the unsung heroes of the Bible letting us “slip on their sandals” and examine their stories. Amy is an encouraging and soul-stirring guide who leads us to dig deep in discovering how Jesus befriended, healed, empowered, and commissioned women and how He is still doing this for us today. The book will touch your heart deeply as you encounter the counter-cultural love of Jesus that stops for the marginalized, those who feel forgotten and unknown, and calls them Daughter.
I received an advance reader copy from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Have you ever felt unseen, unnamed, or unheard? She uses vivid words that speak to every Holy-Spirit-filled woman's heart and soul. In the book Your Name Is Daughter, you will learn the truth about why God calls YOU His daughter. Amy illustrates how God designed a woman out of man’s side (his other half, if you will) to be his life partner and to mirror His image. Both men and women were created equal in God’s eyes. In this book, author Amy Sieffert shares the stories of women of the Bible in a new way. Some you may know, such as Mary, Martha, and Hannah. Some you may not be familiar with, such as Huldah and Phoebe. She gives them 21st century hopes, dreams, disappointments, and emotions which could belong to any one of us in 2025. Above all, she conveys the message that Jesus loved women and valued them greatly enough to heal a woman who reaches out to him on a dusty street. God uses women throughout the Bible to accomplish his purpose. Amy sieffert does an incredible job of sharing about the unsung women of the Bible. "Your Name is Daughter" will help you to understand how God feels about you, too. You are precious, you are loved, you are His DAUGHTER! Grab this one for sure!

Amy takes us on a journey through scripture showing us all the ways women are worthy and valued and necessary. She makes women of the Bible so relatable to every day life now, and her beautiful words were so uplifting and encouraging to me as a daughter of God. Do you know Martha? Or Hannah? Miriam? I didn’t before reading this book, and they still have important stories to tell. Luckily for us as readers, Amy shares these stories with us. If you find yourself needing inspiration as a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend…pick this book up. It’s a true gem!
In the years that shaped my faith, the church’s teachings about women had fallen flat for me, left me wanting more. Amy’s text speaks to the longing that’s always been deep inside of me. It affirmed for me that women are not less than, a second-class afterthought, an assistant to the important work of men, or intended to be meek and mild. Rather, Amy unwraps these beautiful gifts: we are co-heirs, empowered, welcomed, valuable, and commissioned. We are His daughters! The book is packed full of truths about who we are as women, but they are woven into rich storytelling about women in Scripture, some well known and others I’d previously overlooked.
Amy Seiffert beautifully retells the stories of women in the Bible through their own voices, and it made me feel like I was walking right alongside them—through their struggles, victories, and encounters with Jesus.
Every page reminded me: Jesus sees His daughters, He defends us, heals us, values us, and calls us His own. ✨ This book spoke straight to my identity as a daughter of the King and left me encouraged, seen, and deeply loved.
If you’ve ever wrestled with doubt, questioned your worth, or longed to know who you are in Christ, this one’s for you. 🙌 Your Name is Daughter is powerful, affirming, and faith-building.
I am enjoying this book so much. Amy’s research and attention to detail is remarkable. She is walking us through stories of women in the Bible and showing us how valuable we are to God. He created us to bear his image and to play an important role in His story. More than a helper in the common definition of helper but more like one who is vital in his creation. I know you will relate and be drawn into the beautiful stories she has woven throughout the book. Your heart will be changed.
Amy has a way of putting you in each woman’s shoes, making them incredibly relatable. She’ll make you laugh and tear up, and every chapter had something that stood out—so much so that I found myself underlining and reaching for my highlighter. There is no greater calling than to be the daughter of the Most High, and nothing more humbling than pouring your heart out like Hannah. May we stand proud as the ezers God intended us to be all along.
Amy is such a brilliant writer and does story telling like no other. I loved the message of Jesus befriended, defended, healed, and depended upon women–and He will do the same for you! This book made me understand these women and dig deeper into the Bibles stories. I recommend this read for all women because YOU are his daughter.

Simply put: I loved this book. Amy's study of the women of the Bible is empowering, affirming, and inspirational. Through a deep dive into the stories of these women, Amy reminds us of women's value and importance in the story of Christ and and that we can fearlessly find our place today. This book is like a hug of a support from your best friend and the Bible study you always wanted.
While I may have learned about a few women of the Bible growing up and in adult Bible studies Amy dives deeper into some stories to understand the significance of the women of the Bible and to help us, as women understand our special role in the gospel story. We should never feel less than because we are called by God as a daughter, we should actually feel most honored to fulfill that calling. I recommend this book to help you understand God's calling as a daughter and comprehend your worth.
This was a thoughtful, well-researched, and empowering read that is much-needed in the church today! Amy introduces us to the unsung women of the Bible in a way that is very accessible and relatable. Using these stories, she unpacks the implications for us in our day and age: how God views women, how God calls women. A powerful and uplifting read that I would recommend to both men and women alike!
This Bible study and paired book was great! I enjoyed learning about the different stories of the women that you don’t normally hear talked about in a general Sunday service. Women who showed bravery and character that was equal to some of the male Bible hero’s.
I enjoyed finding myself in their stories and seeing how God loved in their lives and used their lives to tell an amazing story.
If you haven’t read this book yet, you should, and do the Bible study with it. It’s great!
Your Name Is Daughter is a gift! Amy Seiffert weaves together themes of belonging, healing, and receiving, inviting readers on a meaningful journey of identity and faith. Through the stories of remarkable women who loved Jesus, she invites her readers to a deeper relationship with their Father. Filled with insight and encouragement, this book reminds us all that we are seen, known, and loved.
I have been reading a lot about women in the Bible and in ministry over the last few years (over 5000 pages in summer of 2023 alone for mentoring project). While this isn't the most academic or exegetical read it spoke deeply to me. Amy has some great nuggets hidden within to chew on and hide in your heart.
Truly encouraging and belongs on every daughter of God's bookshelf.
