Did you know that the deepest part of the ocean, the Mariana Trench, is deeper than Mount Everest is tall? There is a rare plant that only blooms every 100 years. The largest candy bar ever made was 9 feet long! The world's longest bridge is 102 miles long.
This book gives amazing facts about everything under the sun (and beyond) with colorful artwork and photos on every page. Each fact connects in some way with the previous fact, leading you around in a trail of random information that is sure to grab your attention.
I love the attractive design of this book! Every page is so colorful and bright.
The facts are short and easy to read quickly. I wish that some of them had further explanations though. Many of the facts didn't make sense to me and needed some more information added to them. Some of them are more theories than facts, since there is no way they can be proven. I wish the book was more clear about which of the factoids are actually just theories.
I enjoyed reading this book very much! It's full of interesting information.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author in exchange for a free and honest review. All the opinions stated here are my own true thoughts, and are not influenced by anyone.

Rose Davidson’s Epic FACTopia! is a jubilant celebration of curiosity, designed to ignite the imaginations of middle-grade readers and fact-loving adults alike. With 400 extreme facts woven into a dazzling web of connections, this book transforms trivia into a dynamic, interactive experience.
Rather than presenting facts in a linear format, Davidson constructs a labyrinth of knowledge. Each fact leads to another through thematic or whimsical associations—think daredevils to volcanoes, goats to surfboards, or Cleopatra to pizza. This structure mimics the way curiosity works in real life: one question sparks another, and soon you’re tumbling down a rabbit hole of discovery. It’s a brilliant pedagogical choice that encourages exploration and nonlinear thinking.
🎨 The book’s design is vibrant and kinetic, with illustrations and layout choices that invite readers to jump, flip, and zigzag through the pages. The mix of cartoonish art and real-world imagery adds texture and humor, making even the most obscure facts feel accessible. This visual dynamism keeps readers engaged, especially younger ones who might otherwise find nonfiction static or dry.
🧭 While the facts themselves range from bizarre to breathtaking, what elevates Epic FACTopia! is its implicit argument: learning should be joyful. Davidson doesn’t just present information, she cultivates wonder. The facts are vetted and surprising, but more importantly, they’re framed in ways that spark further questions. It’s a gateway to deeper inquiry, not just a destination.
👪 Though aimed at middle-grade readers, the book’s cleverness and design make it a delightful read-aloud for families or a resource for educators seeking to inspire reluctant learners.
For children drawn to Guinness World Records, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, or National Geographic Kids, this book offers a more intellectually playful alternative.
Epic FACTopia! is a triumph of curiosity-driven nonfiction. It’s not just a book of facts—it’s a map of wonder, inviting readers to follow their questions wherever they lead. For anyone who believes that learning should feel like an adventure, this book delivers.
EPIC FACTOPIA! is a highly engaging illustrated book of facts about all sorts of different topics. The book follows a dotted trail along each page with facts woven along it, using word art and illustrations to help convey the facts to readers. A table of contents at the beginning will help readers find a specific topic if they want to come back to it in the future.
What I loved: This is a clever and entertaining nonfiction book that will appeal to kids who love to learn and particularly enjoy random facts. I loved all the color and lush images throughout, including photographs that help to present the facts chosen. The variety of facts is fantastic, and there is plenty to learn throughout the book. There are lots of facts that I did not even know - and it's fun to learn something new!
The book is easy to flow through with the line to follow and entertaining messages on every page. This is a fun adventure, and a comparatively quick read, as each page spread has a limited number of facts (much less than the typical chapter book, for example). This will work well for readers who are advancing beyond picture books and love to learn new things.
Final verdict: EPIC FACTOPIA! is a highly engaging and entertaining collection of facts. With numerous illustrations and photographs throughout, there is plenty to visually explore while learning about many cool things around the world!

A rollocking journey that delves into the most peculiar and fascinating moments of human history, serving up a veritable plethora of facts from mundane to inane and everything in between. Readers can follow the pages of related facts, grouped by subject or can jump off pages of information and gallop around the book in a worldwind discovery of new insight from the dust storms in Africa to an animal-shaped balloon zoo. Highly energetic and humorous, readers will have a hard time putting this down once they begin their journey through this treasure trove of historical oddities. A cacophony of illustrations and photographs followed by facts add humor to the text while simultaneously educating and entertaining. End matter consists of an index and list of sources that could easily be used for additional study. The book's novel format makes it ideal for either systematic study or casual browsing, including laugh-out-loud moments that readers will return to again and again. A fun-filled compilation that illustrates how wonderful, humorous, and downright gross information can make learning a delight at any age. I've been fortunate to get to review several of the Factopia! books throughout the years. I learn and get joy from reading the book to myself and my kids feel the same way when it's read to them! I shouldn't be surprised that new and additional books of facts can continue to be released, because there is SO MUCH that we (professionals included) don't know about what's around us.
LOVED: -the wide variety of facts included -the interesting photographs -the funny illustrations -the exciting text placement and shapes -all the different paths you can follow to find more fun facts
