FBI Agent Jessica Cruz's homecoming turns to horror when she discovers that the death she's been assigned to investigate was her childhood best friend Mary Dubois, turning her hunt for a rogue serial killer personal. As she delves deeper into the case, she reconnects with Nick Shaw, a handsome former denizen who's recently returned to claim his significant the business empire his father spent his life building and expanding. But their initial spark hits a flash point when Jessica discovers that Nick is still under suspicion for a cold case eerily similar to the town's latest victim. No one's alibi is adding up, and everyone in this small seemingly innocent town suddenly has something to hide, casting doubt on everyone from the sheriff to the man sharing her bed. The devil himself is lurking somewhere in small-town Louisiana's shadowy secrets, and it's anyone's guess where. Can Jessica clear her lover's name, or has she fallen prey to a serial killer's sinister plot?
This book had me hooked from the first page. The storyline is intense and gripping, with just the right amount of intrigue and drama. I found myself completely absorbed, rooting for the protagonist as they navigated through a whirlwind of emotions and challenges. The writing style is sharp and engaging, making it easy to lose track of time while reading. If you’re into stories that keep you on the edge of your seat, this one is definitely worth picking up.
A small town billionaire suspense romance with the perfect blend of suspense and romance
I always appreciate a good suspenseful romance novel that keeps me on the edge of my seat. And "Sin" by author Monica Sands definitely did not disappoint.
The story follows FBI Agent Jessica Cruz (Jess) who returns to her hometown to investigate the death of her childhood best friend, Mary Dubois. However, what starts as a routine case soon becomes personal when Jessica discovers that she has a connection to the prime suspect, Nick Shaw. Nick is not only an ex-lover of hers but also the inheritor of a large business empire that comes with its own secrets and suspicions.
The chemistry between Jessica and Nick is electric, but it's also entangled with doubts and mistrust as they both have their own agendas. As the investigation progresses, more secrets are uncovered about the small town of Breaux Bridge and its seemingly innocent residents. And amidst all the chaos, Jessica must also navigate her feelings for Nick while trying to prove his innocence.
Sands does an excellent job of building tension throughout the novel, keeping readers guessing until the very end. The plot twists and turns are well-crafted, leaving you on edge and wanting more. And while romance may be the main focus of the story, Sands also weaves in elements of mystery and suspense seamlessly.
Overall, "Sin" is a riveting debut by Monica Sands that will keep you hooked from start to finish. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tantalizing blend of romance and suspense. And with such an addictive first book, I can't wait to see what Sands has in store for Jess in the future.
I've always been a fan of suspense books and add in romance into the mix, I've found my genre.

I loved Sin because of the characters, the writing, the storyline, the mystery, the suspense, and of course, the romance.

“Sin” is an interesting read. Compelling story, interesting characters, and intriguing mystery. I enjoyed most parts of this book though some of the dialogue was less enjoyable.
