Mostly because she has never been in a functioning relationship herself. But if she cannot convince her boss she actually knows something about love, she will be out of a job and back to being a heartbroken academic with a useless doctorate. So Ruth blurts out the only thing that might save her career… she claims to be married.
Which is how Callum Reed finds himself with a fake wife.
Cal marches into a speed-dating event ready to tell off the so-called expert who keeps matching him with disasters. Instead, he discovers Ruth needs a fake husband, and he needs a fake girlfriend. Their problems line up a little too neatly, so Cal proposes a she pretends to be his partner, and he pretends to be her devoted spouse.
Easy. Simple. No feelings required.
Except fake dating quickly turns into lingering looks, steamy “anatomy lessons,” and chemistry that does not feel staged at all. And just when Ruth begins to believe she might deserve a real chance at love, a figure from her past resurfaces to remind her why she ran from romance in the first place… and why Cal should never risk his heart on her.
With sharp banter, medical spice, and Atwood’s signature twist of danger, Kiss Me, Doc is a doctor romcom about two people who fake it a little too well.
Devon is a published author who lives in the mountains of Wyoming with her husband, their seven children, and a menagerie of animals. Devon's favorite thing is writing in silence with a good playlist on in the background, but she will settle for her usual ambiance of bickering children, barking dogs, and cheerio crumbs under her butt.
She has a Bachelors of Science from Brigham Young Universtiy-Idaho, and her currently published works include Lunula, Inito, K-Love, and Faie and Fury.
So, Kiss Me, Doc had one of my favorite setups—fake marriage/fake dating—and I thought, “Yes, here we go, time for the delicious slow-burn chaos.” And while it did deliver some funny banter and a couple of swoony moments, most of the story felt like someone skimmed the CliffsNotes version of a romance and then just… handed it in. Ruth’s emotional arc? Barely scratched the surface. The romance? Cute, but more “rom-com background noise” than “drop everything, I need to reread this scene.” I wanted angst, tension, that magical switch from “pretend” to “oh no, feelings”—instead I got “well, I guess we’re in love now, shrug.” It’s not bad, it’s just… fine. And for a book with this much potential, “fine” feels a little disappointing. If you want a quick, light distraction, it works. If you want to be emotionally ruined in the best way—yeah, this one’s not it.
f you're in the mood for a charming, laugh-out-loud romance with just the right touch of drama, Devon Atwood's Kiss Me Doc is your perfect match! From the very first page, this book captivates with its clever premise and endearing characters.
Ruth Coldwell is a delightfully flawed protagonist—a matchmaker who, despite her lack of romantic prowess, is determined to keep her job and prove her worth. Enter Callum Reed, a man with his own set of problems, who presents Ruth with a proposition she can’t refuse: he’ll be her fake husband if she agrees to fake date him. This setup is not only hilarious but incredibly engaging, leading to a whirlwind of witty banter and steamy moments.
What truly sets this book apart is Atwood's skillful blending of humor and heart. The fake relationship trope is executed with such finesse, it’s impossible not to root for Ruth and Callum as their pretend romance transforms into something real and profound. The chemistry between the characters is electric, and their interactions are a perfect mix of playful and poignant.
The novel's secondary plot—a shadowy figure from Ruth's past—adds a layer of suspense that keeps the pages turning. Atwood’s knack for creating tension while maintaining a lighthearted tone is masterful. The "danger element" enriches the narrative without overshadowing the romance, making the stakes feel genuinely high.
Atwood’s writing is sharp and engaging, with a narrative that flows seamlessly from one chapter to the next. The humor is spot-on, and the character development is satisfying. Ruth's journey from a self-doubting matchmaker to someone who dares to believe in love is both inspiring and heartwarming.
Kiss Me Doc is more than just a romance—it's a celebration of finding love in unexpected places, learning to embrace one's imperfections, and the power of second chances. If you’re a fan of witty dialogue, steamy scenes, and a touch of suspense, this book is an absolute must-read. Five stars for Devon Atwood’s brilliant storytelling and unforgettable characters!
This is the first book I have read by this author and I honestly love her writing style. It brings out so much depth and emotion into her story. This story was so funny and cute I love the whole character dynamic and I can’t wait to read the book in this series.
Devon will forever get five stars from me. Her writing is wonderful! The story is captivating and relatable with the main female character. Their blossoming relationship is one to be desired!
I fell for this book so hard, and this is a new to me author that has now become an auto buy for me. This book somehow is light, while also weaving in some harsher realities seamlessly. Ruth, the FMC, is incredibly relatable. She’s basically a raw nerve after her life has taken her in a direction she could never have predicted, but never once does she come off as whiny or weak. I found myself highlighting so much of her conversations and inner dialogue. Cal is an absolute gem of a human, but also has some past trauma that has him and Ruth understanding each other on a deeper level. The writing in this book is incredible; clever and funny and may even bring a tear to your eye at times. The way that everything unfolded felt natural and the pacing was perfect. And the spicy scenes are so good. Cal is so hot and I love that he makes such an effort to put Ruth’s needs first. Highly recommend! 4.5⭐️ 3/5🌶️
Kiss Me, Doc by Devon Atwood ⭐3.75 🌶️ 2 📚 Tropes/Themes: matchmaker, fake dating, hate/disdain to lover, opposites attract, doctor MCs 👀 Dual POV 1st person 🩷 ❤️Something I liked: the nickname Callum gave Ruth 🙈 Something I disliked: the leap from fake dating to feelings seemed a little rushed on Cal’s end 🛍️ Available: Out Now! 🧠 Triggers: mentions of adoption, mentions of child abuse/neglect
💬 Review: This story was such an adorable idea- a matchmaker who can’t quite get it right- and a quick, easy read. Ruth as a character is a hilarious hot mess, but she’s also insecure (sigh) and one I found to be slightly unbelievable. Like, take 4-5 shots at a work function? I mean, I know it was at a bar but still she was literally working 😂😂Despite that she was endearing and adorable.
Callum is 🔥🔥🔥. We love a sexy protective doctor who takes control and gives anatomy lessons don’t we?? 😩🥵 And as I said earlier, I think the nickname he gave Ruth is one of my faves. I’ve read enough romances that I’m getting tired of the same old ones- princess, tresoro, red. This one was perfect. (purposely NOT saying what it is so you’ll go read it)
Unfortunately as I said, I thought the leap from disdain to love was a little fast, or maybe the issue is more that I didn’t think he “hated” her in the first place, despite her matchmaking blunder? Vaughn also seemed to come out of nowhere, I think it could’ve used a little more buildup, but this was still a cute, fun read that I recommend.
Tropes: Fake Dating Fake Marriage Lessons Doctor Matchmaker He takes care of her Stem girly Sunshine with a little grumpy MINE
I've said every book by Devon Atwood has been 5 stars. But I cannot express this enough this is my favourite book so far. Her writing just keeps getting better and better with every book she writes. If you love Ali Hazelwood you will LOVE Devon Atwood.
Ruth is working for a dating match maker agency, and she's terrible at it. Callum is one of their clients. 1 + 1 = speed dating event gone wrong or right depends on how you look at it
Cal and Ruth's dynamic is quick witted and full of sexual tension. I couldn't stop kicking my feet and laughing the banter and cuteness is off the charts.
Ruth, a nerdy doctor looking for someone to just love her and to find herself. Cal, a successful doctor looking for someone to play a part to appease others. Their worlds collide and in the best way possible! Ruth has a haunting past that catches up with her and tests her relationship with Cal. Fake or not.
This is a great slow burn book that just pulls you in! You can tell these two just fit perfectly, even if they don’t seem like it. I love the details of why Ruth and Cal are the way they are. Their abandonment issues brings them together, but also their want to just be loved.
This. Book. Was. So. Freakin’. Cute. And funny. And sexy. And interesting. And tummy doing flips and butterflies fluttering around fun.
I haven’t read *many* rom-coms, because I am a fundamentally fucked up person and generally reach for depravity, but I am *so* glad I read this.
I laughed out loud at several points, and I kicked my feet a lil a few times. I couldn’t put it down. I read it in literally 6 hours. And there’s another book coming out? SIGN ME THE EFF UP.
Devon Atwood is becoming one of my absolute favorite authors. The way she writes characters their banter, their backstory and their growth throughout her books are absolutely amazing. This book had me laughing constantly, and I marked so many passages because I loved them. Cal And Ruth are so relatable and yet, absolutely amazing to read. If you enjoy romcom romances, you must read this book and check out the rest of Devon Atwood.
This is such a fantastic read. It was captivating with likable characters. If you are in a mood for a light and entertaining read with relatable characters and you don’t even realize the story is ending than this one is a perfect fit. I have read few books by the author and her books always hit the spot I enjoyed this story as well . Both the mmc were likable and relatable. If you are looking for a light and entertaining story than give this one a shot you won’t be disappointed.
First Devon Atwood book I've read and I enjoyed it. Ruth and Callum were such fun characters and I enjoyed their banter. Plus grumpy/sunshine and fake marriage are some of my favorite tropes. Devon did a great job pulling you in and kept the story going.
Ruth is currently a match maker. A job she took, just because she has degree she can’t use. Is she good at it? Heck no. Cal is a doctor and needs a date to an awards ceremony. Was he able to find someone suitable using Kiss-Met? Heck no. Was Ruth the one that set him up with a date? You know it. 😂
I love the chemistry between these two and when things get spicy, it’s spicy! These two work through so many things together and I love the dual pov to get each of their thoughts on how things play out.
Devon Atwood has done it again! I absolutely loved the first book in this new series! The idea of a failed matchmaker having to date one of her clients is full of potential hilariousness.
The banter is absolutely amazing and the drama that unfolds is brilliant. Both characters are so fun and I was excited to see Ruth grow over the course of the story.
"How drunk are you?" I whispered. "Sober enough to want to kiss you." His lips pressed, curving into a soft smile. "And drunk enough to ask."
If you listen closely, you can probably still hear the echo of me squealing over this book.
Ruth is a majorly under qualified matchmaker that has her doctorate in humanities..or something close enough to that if you ask her spicy best friend that gets her a job at Kiss-Met where they are both matchmakers! Her bff may have also lied to the boss about Ruth having a husband to make her look more qualified, but that's just a rumor. You have no proof.
Dr. Callum Reed needs a girlfriend to appease his parents, even if it's just a fake girlfriend to get through a couple dates and an award show. Enter Ruth. Who may or may not have been so bad at her job she set him up to go on a date with his ex sister-in-law.
Ruth needs a fake husband and Callum needs a fake girlfriend. What could possibly go wrong?
The banter, the emotional intelligence of Callum's character, and the relatability of Ruth absolutely sold this book for me!
Tropes: 💋Fake Marriage 💋He Falls First 💋Spicy 💋Romcom 💋Grumpy x Sunshine 💋Who Hurt You?
✨Thank you Devon Atwood for the eARC in exchange for an honest review ✨
This was a delightful, feel-good romance! Ruth and Cal's chemistry was spot on, filled with witty banter and heartfelt moments that kept me hooked. Cal was sweet but could bring the spice when needed. I especially loved the nickname he gave Ruth—it was both adorable and hilarious! If you're in the mood for a quick, uplifting read, definitely add this to your TBR!
I feel like I read a different book than everyone else. there wasn't any "witty banter", so many scenes were cringe, and neither the mmc nor the fmc were relatable.
I have to admit I had a very specific reason for picking up this book in a recent Stuff Your Kindle event, and it certainly satisfied that itch!
But let's begin at the beginning.
POV: Third person POV Character(s): Ruth Coldwell, Callum Reed primarily Verb Tense: past Trigger Warnings: abusive ex and abusive dynamics, kidnapping Spice Level: a few explicit open door scenes
I was in a certain mood when I downloaded this book, and when I went to read it, I was pleasantly surprised to have several of my favorite types of tropes and scenes included in this book.
Ruth Coldwell recently got her PhD in a subject she wasn't nearly as interested in as she should have been to tackle a doctorate. Having just gotten out of a sorta-kinda relationship where she was blindsided when he ex used and left her, she's floundering until her friend Gemma helps her get a job at Kiss-met, a matchmaking service started by a very woo woman named Janice. The company wants to be able to say they have a doctor on the team, and Janice thinks Ruth will fit the bill nicely.
In her first months at Kiss-met, however, Ruth, or Dr. Love as she's been branded in their marketing campaigns, is striking out with each couple she tries to match. Having spent time looking through their profiles and info, she matches people based on shared interests, and every single couple has come back to complain about her poor matchmaking abilities. To make matters worse, when she comes to the conclusion she needs to resign and heads in to Janice's office, she learns Gemma lied about her being in a relationship and winds up blurting out that she's married in a panic.
Now Ruth's situation has gone from bad to worse: she needs to procure a fake husband before the company picnic that she can show off after Janice convinces her to at least give it another month of trying to figure out how to matchmake others.
Meanwhile Dr. Callum Reed is one of those amazing good guys who's just been coasting along in the romance department, not yet ready to commit to a relationship even though his mother is itching for grand babies. When the Kiss-met matchmaker sets him up with his sister's ex-wife, Callum is ready to read her the riot act only to discover his matchmaker is Ruth, an adorable woman who's having a bad night when she gets called in to lead a speed dating evening for Kiss-met.
Needing a fake date to satisfy his mother, Callum impulsively decides to make Dr. Love herself his fake date, trapping her in a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Honestly, this was a delight to read. I loved the characters. Callum was a touch on the domineering side in the beginning, but he grew out of that, which was a good bit of character development. Ruth held her secrets close to her chest, especially when certain people showed back up in her life, but she eventually learned how to trust Callum, even when she felt she wasn't the kind of person someone would fall for.
I think the characters had good development, and I loved the extra characters who I'm sure will get their own stories in sequels. The plot was fun and hit all the high notes I love in a good romance, and the overall story held my attention. The romance itself was a treat to read, too.
I'll probably pick up the sequel because I like this first book so much. It was a pleasure to read, and I want to see what comes next for Gemma!
Another reviewer said it best, Devon blends comedy with heart in such a magical way. It truly is a talent that not everyone has, and I am so honored to get to read an early copy of her books. Callum and Ruth were perfect and had me laughing out loud several times while also swooning at the tender moments that flutter by too quickly. This book is dripping with sarcasm and I'm definitely here for it.
Callum and Ruth are doctors, but they are very different types of doctors! Ruth is a horrible patient but also accidents seem to find her easily. Poor girl has the worst luck or perhaps it's Kismet that this stuff happens to her so that her and Callum could meet and fall for each other. I guess I'll leave that up to you to decide.
The story starts out with Callum furious with Ruth for matching him with his poisonous ex-sister-in-law. After barely skirting away from him Ruth, who is recovering from a bad breakup with a terrible man and a degree that she can't do anything with, Ruth is grappling with the inevitable. She is about to get fired from her matchmaking job (that she's admittedly not very good at). And for "punishment" she thinks her boss is making her lead a speed dating event that very night. Ruth gets a little toasty and finds none other than the delicious doctor that she ran from earlier in the day seated at her table in front of her. Callum notices that she's toasted and offers to get her out of there.
"I'm mildly to moderately concerned by how little you're fighting your kidnapping, but yes, 'do no harm' is a thing. You're safe with me."
Soon after they come to the conclusion that fake dating would help each of them out, as they get to know each other they find out that they actually have a lot in common, and each has a lot of baggage from abandonment issues that you see sprout up throughout the book.
"How drunk are you?" I whispered. "Sober enough to want to kiss you." His lips pressed, curving into a soft smile. "And drunk enough to ask."
Several times Ruth manages to get injured and requires medical care, which she's afraid of... So Callum comes to the rescue and plays Knight in Shining Armor for her. Which is where the bulk of the tender growth moments happen between them.
I would like to say that I LOVE that the author didn't take the miscommunication route that is SO COMMON with other Fake Dating/Fake Marriage books. The communication on the matter, at least on Cal's behalf was refreshing.
Overall this book is what I would classify as a easy read, there's a splash of suspense in true Devon Atwood fashion but for the most part it's a good pick me up novel. There are some childhood negelct and abandonment topics that come up, so if you are sensitive to that kind of thing, you may want to check the triggers or contact the author to clarify.
If you like these tropes you should definitely give it a try:
Tropes: 🥰Fake Marriage 🥰He Falls First 🥰Spicy Romcom 🥰Grumpy x Sunshine 🥰Dislike to Love 🥰Who Hurt You 🥰Plays with toys
Kiss Me, Doc Dr. Ruth Coldwell has a doctorate in humanities. But that’s not what her best friend claims. That’s how Ruth found herself working at Kiss-Met a dating agency helping to hook up single men and women. Except she knows nothing about human relations and dating. And somehow she has admitted to her boss that she has a husband. She is a fraud and Callum found out and has his eyes on her. His gaze lingers a bit too long and he makes her a proposition which Ruth can’t refuse, be his fake date and he’ll be her fake husband. What could go wrong? All is well until another fake husband steps on the scene and steals her away with threats. Will Call fight for Ruth?
The banter between Ruth and Callum was cute, witty and just a tad flirty. It generally was a honest relationship except for when Ruth’s douchy ex enters the picture.
My favorite is the doctor moments. I am a sucker for a hero who takes care of the heroine. And Cal does it more than once. Bossy but swoony.
Overall, an enjoyable light read.
TROPES/ THEMES: fake dating, fake marriage, one bed, white coat syndrome, sick care, texting, abandonment
Read on for characters…
CHARACTERS (more or less in order of appearance, please excuse typos in name): Janice Kopernick: CEO of Kiss-Met dating agency in Eugene, Oregon Gemma Daise: Kiss-Met matchmaker Ruth Coldwell: 28, doctor of human relations, Kiss-Met matchmaker and Love Doctor, Gemma’s best friend, Shortstop, Pisces Olivia: Kiss-Met receptionist Jayla Reed: Callum’s mother, school counselor Mr. Terrence Reed: Callum’s father, dental profession Callum Reed: 36, doctor, started the “Compassionate Home Visits Initiative”, adopted by Jayla and Terrence, Nov 1st Scorpio Scarlet: Ruth’s coworker, matchmaker Tess: another matchmaker Aniyah: Callum’s sister Candy Lorensen: Callum’s sister’s ex-wife, bisexual, Annie: receptionist at urgent care clinic Michael: new nurse, single Lynette: nurse, married for 30 years Harper: nurse, single Dr. Laura Reynolds: has four kids, office mom Dottie: Callum’s housecall patient at McKenzie-Willamette, died due to massive coronary Dr. Vaughn Hormel: 28+15=43, Ruth’s douchy ex-hookup/professor/principal investigator (PI) Dr. Rook: Ruth’s GYN/PCP, Callum’s residency fellow Unnamed: Ruth’s grandmother had cancer Becky: receptionist at Sphere of Life Women’s Services, where Dr. Rook works Jacob: Dr Laura’s husband, systems analyst Marlene: Ruth’s nurse
This hilarious and spicy RomCom is about two doctors, a medical doctor - Callum Reed and a Humanities doctor, Ruth Coldwell. Ruth is working as a matchmaker (a not very successful one) and she accidentally matches Callum up with his ex sister-in-law. Callum is so upset that he sets out to find this online matchmaker and have words with her! But the first time he sets eyes on her, he is instantly smitten as she is just his type - super smart, nerdy, agreeable and loveable. Ruth is very wary of men as she has had some trauma with emotional abuse from her ex boyfriend, a fellow Humanities doctor, who is suddenly back and harassing her. But Callum is the perfect gentleman - sweet, compassionate, dedicated and very protective. Ruth agrees to act as Callum's girlfriend as she really messed up his blind date and he in turn offers to pretend to be her husband at work functions. I wish Ruth stood up for herself more when dealing with Vaughn but perhaps she was so traumatised by him that she only developed more of a backbone when her love for Cal overshadowed her fear of Vaughn. They are an adorable couple and are very believable characters. I loved the banter and dialogue in this book and Ruth's BFF, Gemma is also very amusing. The story was interesting and there was good character development with both of them having experienced abandonment earlier in their lives, so they had a really good understanding of each other. I just wish that there was an epilogue but perhaps more is written about their story in the next book of this series, that is about Gemma. This book was very enjoyable and I rate it 4.5*. There is a lot of swearing and sexual content.
"How drunk are you?" | whispered. "Sober enough to want to kiss you." His lips pressed, curving into a soft smile. "And drunk enough to ask."
If you love a fake dating trope with the perfect levels of banter and drama, a protective mmc, a chaotic fmc, smutty doctor scenes and a looming past then this book is for you!
Ruth Coldwell in a desperate need for a job is attempting to matchmake in a place she feels she doesn’t belong. It also really doesn’t help that her bestie lied about her doctorate AND her being married to boot.
Dr Callum Reed is too busy with his professional life to care about the dating world but, when his parents nag him to sign up to Kiss-Met and giving it a try he relents. It can’t be that bad right?? Yeah.. about that.
The chaotic meet of these characters had me cackling at 3am and still gets me now, this may be one of favourite meets ever written. It also alludes to the chaos’s that will come when Ruth gets drunk at a work event only to be saved by Dr. Reed.. with a catch…
She needs a fake husband and he needs a fake girlfriend, seems like the perfect arrangement right? And may be it is.. until both feelings and a past figure want into the game…
I’ve never really been a romcom girlie, until i started reading Devon Atwoods books and she quickly became an auto-read author for me! The characters she writes always have the perfect level of banter and chaos that makes them easily loveable. I’ll be honest this book had me cackling A LOT at 3am and there are so many parts that I could quote! But I’ll let you discover them for yourself
"Don't get into the cars of strangers when you're drunk, Shortstop. They could have a foot fetish.”
okay let me just start out by saying i've never read a Devon Atwood book... and now i'm kicking myself. thank you so much for the opportunity to ARC read... i'm officially a huge fan. brb while i go immediately read her other books. Kiss Me, Doc was a 5 star read for me. obsessed
if you like Christina Lauren or Abby Jimenez books, then you will LOVE Devon Atwood. this book was everything you could possibly want in a romcom, but without the third act breakup (thank you!!! because this is so overdone in my opinion). this book had such a great twist on the normal "turmoil" we see in the plots of romcoms.
Ruth and Callum were the perfect main characters. nerdy girl and hot doc done perfectly. their personalities were so fun and the BANTERRRRR. I need more. their dialogue was honestly to die for. the perfect amount of sweetness, not overdone on the sexy parts, and the humor was just unmatched. Gemma was the BFF we all want and need. and special shoutout to Rook. that man's personality and little one-liners actually had me laughing out loud. I honestly wanted more of him... he gave Sheldon Cooper vibes with his awkwardness and blunt dialogue. he was my favorite side character, honestly.
it's hard to nail the "soulmate business" thing without it being cheesy, but Devon definitely succeeded. the story flowed, the characters fit (personalities, actions, dialogue, everything), and the setting was well-done.
overall, this book was truly an effortless read. this book had me feeling all of the emotions and I could not put it down. I'm really looking forward to the continuation of the series. just do yourself a favor and read this book!
I've never picked up a Devon Atwood book that I didn't love, and Kiss Me, Doc totally lives up to the hype! It’s the first book in her Kiss-Met Series, and the new characters are just awesome. Dr. Ruth Coldwell, who’s honestly a pretty terrible matchmaker with a random doctorate, crosses paths with Dr. Callum Reed. Their first meeting is anything but cute—Callum's there to call Ruth out on her horrible matchmaking, and Ruth’s reaction? She runs away!
But that’s just the start. They end up bumping into each other again at a speed dating event where Ruth is working, and they come up with a plan: fake marriage, fake dating. Callum needs a plus-one for work and family stuff, and Ruth has already told her boss she’s married. And, of course, with fake relationships, those pretend lines start to get really blurry.
Callum ends up being Ruth’s hero in more ways than one, and soon enough, he realizes he’s actually falling for her. Just when things start to click, someone from Ruth’s past shows up to throw a wrench in everything she’s been trying to fix. Because, honestly, what’s a Devon Atwood book without a bit of drama?
Kiss Me, Doc is such a fun intro to the Kiss-Met world. Ruth is super relatable—flawed but trying to figure herself out. Callum is sweet but strong, and he’s ready to fight for what he wants. You won’t want to put this book down, and there’s so much more to look forward to! Can’t wait for what’s next!
Once I started this book, there was no way I could put it down. An instant one sitting read. The author has a way of pulling you into the story so easily. The characters are relatable and mixed with humor the whole way through.
Ruth is a matchmaker, thanks to her best friend. But she isn't a very good one. Cal comes to confront her after being set up with his sister's ex-wife. Ruth being non confrontational does the only thing she can think to do, run. Not thinking anything of it, Cal leaves. But when he stumbles upon Ruth later at a speed dating event that she is hosting, he starts to see all the reasons he hasn't been able to get this woman out of his head. A very intoxicated Ruth spills a few secrets, and when a co-worker approaches the pair a little later on, Cal speaks up. Claiming he is her husband and intends to take her home.
A sober, and hung over Ruth wakes the next morning realizing she isn't her bed. When the previous nights events start coming back, Cal has a proposition for her. He'll be her fake husband, if she can be his fake girlfriend for a few things. Ruth reluctantly agrees. But does the arrangement stay fake or will feelings start to form that both of them weren't prepared for?
This book literally had me turning the pages so fast. The story is easy to follow and you can't help but fall in love with the characters.
As always, Devon has done it again.. HOMERUN!!! The one thing you can always expect from Devon is TOP TEIR banter (seriously **chefs kiss**)
Let’s just say matchmaking is not Dr. Ruth Coldwell’s strong suit…for that matter of fact she might be the worlds worst match maker, and knows little about love or even relationships. After a disastrous start and literally running away from an unhappy client..Ruth’s boss asks her to be the host of a speed dating night, although not excited Ruth is determined to save her job.
After agreeing with his parents to use Kiss-Mets matchmaker Dr. Callum Reed found himself on a date..but when his sister’s ex-wife walked in, he is furious and he has a lot to say to his so called “matchmaker”. Finding Dr. Coldwell after she’d clearly had one too many drinks at her own event..that was not something he expected to find..
“I’m mildly to moderately concerned by how little you’re fighting your kidnapping, but yes, ‘do no harm’ is a thing. You’re safe with me.”
Soon they both realize and agree that fake dating might be the answers to all their problems. But what happens when the lines between fake dating and real feelings starts to blur??
A fun, fast paced romcom that’s guaranteed to have you giggling and squealing..if you like Fake Dating/Marriage Who Hurt You He Falls First Grumpy x Sunshine Then you definitely need to give this a read!!☺️☺️
How do you know you’ll like a Devon Atwood book? If you like any of the “popular” authors writing in this genre, I can promise you will like Devon’s writing! She draws you in with her characters and intricately weaves her story in such a way that you can’t stop reading! I’ve read all the books in her previous series - Love and Other Jobs - and immediately started looking for when her next series would be coming out. Ruth and Callum? Goals. He is so understanding with her; so sweet and patient. She has been through a horrible relationship and still bears the scars left by her horrible ex (who needs to be throat punched repeatedly). She has struggled to find work in her field, so her best friend gets her a job at her workplace - a matchmaking service! Ruth and Cal’s fates are sealed when she accidentally matches him with his sister’s toxic ex and he comes in to give her a piece of his mind - BOOM! Kismet! Next you have fake marriage/dating, he falls first, they both fall hard, grumpy and sunshine, and just the right amount of SPICE! Do yourself a favor and READ THIS BOOK!! Also, Devon, I’m ready for Rook and Gemma’s story! I can’t wait! Thank you, thank you, for such great stories to lose ourselves in!!
