I don't know if this is my favorite volume, but by far one of my favorite scenes of the series is definitely in this volume!!
The teaming up was absolutely amazing!! I felt I was on edge and absolutely appreciated every single detail, speech bubble, panel, and page!! I never imagined this manga would have moments I have longed for without even realizing I was longing for it! Truly the epic of teams, and I can't believe this volume ended where it did!
The battle between Kaiju no. 8 and no. 9 was SO good! There were MANY moments with no. 9 that I felt completely horrified because that smile was creepy as all get out! I never imagined that his reasoning for everything he's doing would make sense, even if it had me scared as a reader. LOL!
AND THE TWIST WITH KAFKA!!! WHOA!!!!
AND THEN ANOTHER TWIST AFTER THAT TOO!!
I lost count of how many times my jaw dropped after three because it just kept dropping!! LOL!
I really really hope the next volume Kafka will be okay! I am not ready to see this series end, but I also want to see the finale!
HERE. WE. GO. KAFKA AND MINA. NO 9 (and no 2). ITS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. LETS FUCKING GO. (please don't let anything bad happen to kafka and mina please <3)
DUDE that fight was insane, also I cannot believe Narumi trained Kafka (I mean I can he stroked his ego slightly and that's all it took).
I doubt kaiju no9 will go down just like that there are so many chapters left What if Kafka loses control and Narumj has to kill him and that's why they trained??? I will kill myself

of course loved this volume but i think they did reno dirty. like why do you make him be compatible with the strongest kaiju never before having compatibility with anyone before hyping him up to then sideline him and not make him appear in any major final epic battle? im mad.
The battle between Kaiju No. 8 and No. 9 begins! Kafka uses his special training from Hoshina to surprise No.9, but he also has some tricks up his sleeve, keeping the battle tense by every hit. Once again, Mina appears just when needed, and finally Kafka can fight by her side like he's always dreamed of. I love the snippets of the past and seeing them as kids, they've still got their friendship and faith in each other, it's so sweet. Another revelation shows that Kafka also had training from Captain Narumi, pulling another ace from the hole. Finally, Kafka uses his ultimate move, one that might have finally beaten No.9 for good...Hopefully we'll find out in the next volume!
I really enjoyed reading about Kaiju no. 9’s fascination with humanity. Of course this has always been a reoccurring theme throughout the manga, but in these chapters, I couldn’t help myself but to appreciate kaiju no. 9’s fascinating monologues. Kaiju no. 9 ponders on such penetrating and complex questions about humanity that I think are valid and worth exploring ourselves, well minus the “Everything turned into a seedbed part” lol.

I'm gonna be honest, as a whole, this series is perfectly enjoyable to me, but w/ sick monsters and good art. plot is like, fine. characters are cool but don't get full focus. story I'd pretty consistently give a 3. it is ultimately just a brawler w/ not much going on otherwise. buuut I enjoy fighting kaiju and the different kaiju designs enough, I keep reading. so this volume is solid and the art and monster we're currently dealing w has me rounding up to a 4. good update.
I don't know if it is my being in a reading slump or something else that caused me to feel like this volume was not as good. The artwork was still good, and realistically I still enjoy the characters. The story itself felt a little slow and difficult to get through. I am ready for this part of the storyline to be over.
