The way the characters are rapidly powering up through an awareness of Soul reminds me a lot of the climactic several fights of Shaman King. That's high praise.
Nico and Ichico end up fighting UMA Language, with Feng joining the fray at some point. The battle is based on playing shiritori to summon things to attack each other, which is pretty cool, but would be way cooler if it wasn't already done in the battle against Jibril in No Game No Life over a decade ago.
The main thing here is that Language wants to force Nico to unlock Unforgettable by killing Ichico so Language can have a rematch from 4.6 billion years ago, or something. Naturally for this new Loop, Nico gets to unlock his Negator ability without anyone dying. Kind of. Ichico and Feng sacrifice themselves so Nico will be able to use the perfect imagination granted by Unforgettable in order to resurrect them immediately afterward. Pretty hype shit.

So we get the end of the Beast fight which was cool but I do like how they build upon a few things that previously did not make a lot of sense like how did certain abilities get passed down and it does lead to them getting new upgrades and I like the method they chose. I also like the reveal of the next UMA Language and how they fight but I still wish she would have had a crazy design like other UMAs have had as she just looks like a sexy librarian. The fight is cool though and I really cannot wait until they animate this arc.
I do like the ending of the Beast fight, with the whole vibe of the battle being beasts devouring each other to grow strong individually while humanity grows stronger by entrusting their progress to the next generation. That's cool! And it goes into Uma Language against Nico, and his love of 'science' and progress to combat the harsh changes and realities of the world. This might be one of my favourite arcs in Undead Unluck and we praise translator David Evelyn for making Shiratori even halfway understandable. The creativity at play here is wonderful. Nico went from a villain in the previous loop to Fuuko's number one assistant, first member of the Union, one of her closest allies, and dude has done so much of it WITHOUT a negator ability! Nico has become one of my favourite characters and he really gets to shine here.
I really enjoyed this volume, particularly the unhinged and wild fight against Language. First though, we get the end of the fight against Beast and some more clarity on souls and how they’re used. I really like the idea of the souls as a legit concept that can be used to battle and connect people. The Language fight has been one of the best so far in recent volumes. It has Nico, Ichico, and Feng playing a game of shiratori where the word they say becomes real and they get to use any language in the world. It has some quality emotional work too, as we get to see Nico come into unforgettable again without the tragedy. He also has a really sweet moment where he asks a question to help Fuuko feel better. I just love the support everyone gives in this epic struggle against god.

Having the rules be the supporting antagonists for the final loop was such a good idea. Nico’s fights is terrific, so much fun to read, really creative and well executed!
