Detective Liv DeMarco's work life and personal life have just gotten a lot more complicated...
Homicide detectives never have it easy. Too many cases. Too many hours. Too much death. To top it off, Liv's getting settled in her new apartment. Her best friend is in wedding planning mode, and her partner Brad is thinking about playing by a new set of rules. All of that takes a back seat when an unknown sniper starts killing seemingly random individuals.
The longer it takes Liv and Brad to stop this guy, the higher the body count. Most cases take days or weeks to solve. But they need to get to the bottom of this one fast, especially when someone Liv holds dear ends up in the sniper's crosshairs.

A hunter's body is found in deserted clearing, he has been shot in the back of his head. Brad is uneasy, it brings back unwanted memories. The weapon is specialist, military use. Then there is another shooting, same type of weapon. The third shooting brings the components and evidence together, along with the knowledge that someone very close to Liv could well be the next target. The author continually keeps you engrossed, there is always a 'but' or 'what if'. But you never find out precisely what the answer is until the last pages.
Hard to put the book down from start to finish. The author continues to detail actions, moods and link all parts of the tale into one cohesive story while throwing in a little humor and a little romance.
I have read all of this series to date and I usually love the Liv DeMarco books but lately they have become too procedural and technical for my liking and bogs down the book. That was especially true for this one. In fact, I seriously considered not finishing it. It took until almost the end when it started to really get going. I also always liked the banter between Brad and Liv so I was especially happy to see them finally get together. It’s just too bad it took 10 books to get there. I am always partial to having romance included. I love the other series from G.K. Parks too. Just a bit of disappointment with this one.
The most interesting characters in this series are Axel and Mac. Brad and Emma are weak and not very likable characters at best so focusing on them is a distraction and makes Liv look weak. The case itself was not bad but not one of the best in this series.
